The Dead Rabbit is an upscale Irish pub in lower Manhattan that honestly lives up to the hype. We visited on a Saturday without a reservation and were seated immediately in the Parlour. The parlour room is their upstairs bar that has a timeless feel to it with lighting almost primarily coming from small gas lamps on the tables, due to this it is a bit dark. We were greeted by our server and offered a small welcome drink that I am desperately trying to figure out the recipe for. The drinks here are a bit on the pricier side, however, the full size welcome drink was affordable at $19. They have a signature drink menu as well with a side for Irish spirits and another for spirits around the world. For our appetizer, we tried the sausage roll which was spiced well with a fantastic buttery and flaky pastry. I had the fish and chips entree while my partner had the bangers and mash. My entree was massive with large fish fillets and fries. My partners was a lot more flavorful though as the sausage was delicious. They put a heavy emphasis on supporting Irish craftsmen as well and it really shows. From the art on the walls to the soap in the bathroom, everything was made by Irish artisans. Overall, our visit was more than we could’ve hoped for and we would definitely visit again. PS. Please send me the recipe for that apple cider and brandy welcome drink
I've been coming here since early 2014, whenever I'm in town. Whether alone or with a group of friends, The Dead Rabbit never fails to thoroughly impress myself and everyone with me. Having traveled extensively around the world, I can say that The Dead Rabbit is hands down my favorite bar ("bar" doesn't do this place justice). Be sure to make a reservation well in advance. Even as a walk-in, if there's a wait, it's worth it. The flavors are amazingly balanced in every drink...and I've had a lot of them. Their ice is perfect (yes this matters). Their glasses are spotless and for the cocktails that require it, the glasses are chilled nicely. They change their menus regularly which is awesome! On this occasion, I enjoyed their baby lamb chops (delicious!) and their chicken potpie (would make any Irishman proud). For drinks I ran through the Lone Oak, an Irish coffee, the Young Blood, Sticky Toffee Old-Fashioned, Psycho Killer, and Doctor's Orders. One after another I was amazed at the quality and skill put into each drink. To finish the night out, I grabbed two more of their newer books for my collection and the bar staff was kind enough to sign them for me. Kace, you're the best! Until next time! Sláinte! P.S. Make sure you greet Freddy, the doorman, by name. Very nice guy!

Subject: An Unforgettable Experience at The Dead Rabbit - NYC's Cocktail Haven From the moment I walked into The Dead Rabbit, I knew I was in for a treat. This establishment is the epitome of what a cocktail bar should be—charming, welcoming, and most importantly, skilled at their craft. The drinks are nothing short of exceptional. Whether you're in the mood for a classic cocktail or looking to try something new and exciting, the mixologists here have you covered. I was particularly impressed by the strength and balance of the drinks; each sip was a melody of flavors that left me wanting more, yet never overwhelmed my palate. Beyond the superb cocktails, the atmosphere is equally remarkable. The staff are not only professional but incredibly friendly, ensuring that every guest feels at home. It's rare to find a place that excels in both product and service, yet The Dead Rabbit manages to do so effortlessly. For those seeking a top-notch cocktail experience in NYC, look no further than The Dead Rabbit. Whether you're a cocktail connoisseur or a casual drinker, this gem is guaranteed to exceed your expectations. Cheers to the perfect night out!

This was my first stop in NYC because the drink menu looked great (whiskey fan) and it was close to our hotel. It was packed, but the host quickly found a spot for us. We were sitting at a ledge with high chairs, which I didn't really care for but everything else made up for that. We looked over the menus, waited a few minutes then flagged down a server named Jenae (not sure how she spells it), who was so kind and told us we order from the bartender in that spot, but she took our order any way. We got the Doctor's Orders and it was just what we needed after traveling. All of the cocktails we had were perfect; well crafted and strong. I was not expecting the food to be as good as it was, but it was great. We had the bread basket, mussels with fries, and the corned beef sandwich. The sandwich was my favorite thing. It has a great flavor, juicy and tender corned beef, buttery toasted bread, perfect amount of sauerkraut. Our server was very attentive, friendly, and made some great suggestions of things to do while in NYC. Also the live music was great.

Came with my girlfriend and her parents whilst on a holiday from England. Food was amazing as was the service downstairs. Best Guinness I've had in NY for sure. The highlight however came from the upstairs bar. The cocktails were incredible, some of the best I've ever had. I've been a bartender for nearly 10 years so this place has been on my list for a while. Talked shop with the bartender Shane for a little while and then him and the other bartender (I am so terribly sorry if you're reading thus but I cannot remember your name! Your tattoos were amazing though) asked if I wanted to come up and make a daiquiri. Being able to say to all my hospitality friends back home that I made a drink at The Dead Rabbit will be a highlight for the rest of my life. They were easily two of the best people I've met in my short time in NY. I've done a fair few of the touristy things to do around here and that absolutely made my week. This place deserves every award its received and more! If the two bartenders ever find themselves in Manchester they'll always have a seat at my bar.

This trip to the city was our Second and Third times to The Dead Rabbit. Last year we sat in the bar downstairs as a walk in, soaked up the amazing atmosphere and drank the most amazing cocktails that we talked about for a solid year until we were back this weekend. This time we sat upstairs at the Parlor bar; lower ceilings, dimmer lighting than downstairs but it’s perfect for the space. Good music, moving and shaking, every one of the staff were helpful, conversational and professional, it was an amazing experience. We sat at the bar and watched Nick work his magic. Seeing him move like a machine making the most unique and enticing drinks while holding great conversation was worth the reservation alone. It was like cocktails and a show! We tried a range of the menu drinks and had one or two off menu items that were astounding. We also had food, very good and I recommend the fish and chips wholeheartedly. Overall I love The Dead Rabbit and will always be making my way there whenever I’m in the city!

I feel like you’ve gotta approach this bar as what it is- an Irish pub. The Dead Rabbit is quintessentially Irish so if you don’t like whiskey, beer, or sausages, this isn’t the place for you (this wasn’t the place for me). However, it is really good at what it does. The ambiance is super cool, with sawdust on the ground, lots of solid wooden furniture, and pictures of former patrons tacked to the low rafters. For drinks, we got the spiked hot chocolate, the Irish coffee, and the usquabach. The drinks were all good! For food, we got the house-made chips, the scotch egg, the potato leek soup, and the bangers and mash. The potato leek soup left something to be desired in terms of seasoning for me, and the sausage in the scotch egg had a bit of a strange texture, which is what docked it one star. Overall, super cool place and I would recommend to people that are fans of the previously mentioned (whiskey, beer, and sausage).

My family and I's experience here was amazing! They let us sit early from our reservation and were very accommodating the whole night. Our waiter, Will, was absolutely one of the best waiters I've had in NYC. He was very attentive, helpful, and great at recommendations of drinks and food. We never had to worry about waiting for more drinks, water, or food. Their drinks were hands down the best I've had in NYC, not too expensive, very flavorful and not too strong or weak - just perfect. All of their food was delicious. I absolutely recommend their fries (amazing sauces) as an appetizer, and the scotch eggs were very good as well. For main dishes, we had the sea bass, fried chicken, chicken pot pie, and fisherman's pie, and they were all really good. I definitely recommend coming here at least once, especially if you're on vacation!

Best bar in NYC Want an amazing night out with great food, drink and atmosphere? Then you gotta hit up @deadrabbitnyc. The must have appetizers are the Lobster Deviled Eggs, the Scotch Egg, Short Rib Sliders and the Cumberland Sausage Roll. Any of the entrees are delicious but today I went with the Lamb Shepard's Pie; crispy mash potatoes on top of delicious curry lamb. The chicken pot pie is also to die for; buttery puff pastry crust covers tender Braised chicken with pies and carrots with a side of mash potatoes and gravy. Now all these delicious bites pair wonderfully with any of their extensive list of delicious cocktails. I started with a round of Fighting Irish to go with my appetizers and then 2 rounds of Doctor's Orders to go with my entrees. 5 out 5. Highly recommend and will definitely return multiple times to try out other entrees and drinks. Next time I will have the baby lamb chops and Irish lamb stew with the Twilight zone and the Big Bang Theory.

This is my second experience here at The Dead Rabbit and I can say that it absolutely exceeds all of my expectations. I am currently here during their jingle jangle and the vibe and atmosphere of The Parlor is absolutely amazing. It is currently very busy and the staff members - specifically Will and Bridget, are going above and beyond to make sure that we are happy and getting the service that is expected and guaranteed of the infamous Dead Rabbit. It’s obvious this place runs as a family and works well with each other to make the best possible experience for the customer. Will and Bridget did not disappoint at all on top of all of the other bartenders and staff members here. I will be recommending this place to all of my family and friends and I look forward to the next time that I visit The Dead Rabbit

I've been here before during the nighttime to grab a drink, but I was able to finally come back with a friend to try their brunch! I'll be honest, I've never had an irish coffee, but as a coffee lover this hit the spot. My friend ordered a regular Irish coffee which was nice and balanced, and warmed you up on the inside. I tried the Alexander Irish coffee, which was sweeter and chilled, and enjoyed it as well! They have a selection of Irish coffees, so definitely try it out if you come by. I also got the chicken pot pie which had the flakiest crust! It was a solid entree, with a good amount of filling and a good gravy. The mashed potatoes were also nice and buttery. I couldn't finish it sadly, the whole thing was huge honestly. I'm definitely planning to come back during the holidays and try out their drink menu! The ambiance was so cute and cozy, and it sounds like there's more to forward to!
The Dead Rabbit in New York is a must-visit for anyone who loves craft cocktails and Irish pub fare. The drinks are outstanding, with a vast selection of creative and unique concoctions that are expertly crafted. The food is equally impressive, with traditional Irish dishes that have been elevated to new heights. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, with a charming old-world aesthetic that transports you back in time. The service is top-notch, with knowledgeable and friendly staff who are happy to make recommendations. The only downside is the long wait time, but it's worth it for the exceptional experience. Overall, The Dead Rabbit is one of the best bars in the city and should not be missed.

It's a neat atmosphere. They let us in for our reservation early, and that was nice. We got sat at the bar, which I didn't personally care for. And as a NYC tourist who'd walked 7 miles through the day, I was not thrilled about seating that offers no back support. It was dimly lit, which is cute but strains my aging eyes. The fish and chips was mediocre, not the best sign of an Irish joint. Way too greasy, and that killed any chance of crispy fish.

Well worth a visit as it has lots of character! We missed this place last year as it was shut but we didn't want to miss it again. The bar shelves are jam-packed with Irish whiskys and just about any other whisky and bourbons. So you should find a drink you like there. Service was great and we sat at the bar. The customers that were in there all seemed friendly too and overall, it was a nice chilled out place. We also tried a few of the speciality cocktails, which we liked too! There's not many bars in NYC with sawdust on the floors and we liked this touch!

Great atmosphere & place to take visitors. We sat in the Parlor level. I brought my parents and we are from the UK so always skeptical of pubs in America! Dead Rabbit does it right. Started with the sausage roll which was great, extensive cocktails / drinks list and the server was really friendly. For our mains - I had the broccoli & quinoa bowl (and finished off my moms fish & chips which was amazing), and my dad had the burger which he really enjoyed. Irish coffee tiramisu was the perfect dessert to finish. Will definitely come back!

Popular tavern in Downton Manhattan on Water street. Was here pre-fire, pre pandemic and now. It still has the same look with two long bars downstairs and a few tables. Nice, friendly servers. They only use on online menu. Good drinks, decent tavern food. There is also an upstairs that I’ve never been to. For lunch, we shared an ample Irish breakfast which hit the spot with American scotch served with one giant ice cube which we appreciated and a hot Irish coffee. Yum.

Come for the Sunday Roast, stay for the atmosphere! We've been here a few times now for the Sunday Roast, but there are plenty of other items on the menu. The wine selection is great, though you'll be wanting to try a few of the cocktails or the Irish Coffee too. The servers are always very friendly and helpful. You'll love the building itself, and the decor around the Holidays makes the place feel much more homely. Don't hesitate to drop by even without a reservation, there's seating at the bars and counters too.

Atmosphere should get 6. This isn't any old Irish pub and it's not the typical 'plastic paddy' bar you see around the world either. This is a venture owned and operated by Irish creative geniuses who want to use it as a platform for all that is great about the island of Ireland. Of all the Irish bars in Manhattan, this is the one that both feels like a little piece of Ireland AND you'll actually learn something about the islands people, geography and culture. Guinness is decent too. Which is probably the most important bit! Highly recommended.

Great bar amazing whiskey selection. I should have sat at the bar I couldn't get a drink to save my life. Most likely not the servers fault it did get very busy very fast. I was also overwhelmed by the family of 5 sitting next to me with kids on backless stools who clearly have never sat still in their lives. The food was delicious so I'm sure it's better than I thought but not that day.and when I was leaving ya the bar was quiet and empty damnit lol.

Awesome place. Tried three cocktails and all of them tasted good and unique. Started in the bar downstairs where we got some food as well. Shepherd’s pie was great. It’s pretty loud downstairs but cool decor and kind of cozy. Then we moved to the third floor (put yourself in the queue for the third floor when you arrive) where continued our cocktail journey. The Irish coffee was as good as other reviews say. The gin cocktails didn’t disappoint either. The upper floor has the same menu as downstairs but with additional 10 cocktails.
Very impressive how fast they serve the drinks and food, considering how packed they are. Solid dirnks and food. Great festive atmosphere this time of the year. There are 3 levels if you have never been. The top most floor is for private events. The second floor is the Parlor Room The first floor is divided into 2 areas and the second room has an upstairs area. Try to reserve the small booths if you can. All seasonal cocktails are $20

The Dead Rabbit Casual bar downstairs with lots of people and loud music in a small space. Second floor is a speakeasy style quieter cocktail bar called the Parlor. Great spot to find a cozy nook and have a pint or cocktail with friends. Currently offering an extensive Christmas cocktail list and would highly recommend the After Eight. Also has a great pint of Guinness which I believe is the hallmark of a good Irish bar. Food was delicious too…typical Irish pub fare. This spot is incredibly popular (and world renowned) I had friends from overseas recommend I visit when I was in NYC. First I notice it's VERY BUSY. But the staff handle the crowds well, our food and drinks came out in a timely fashion and everything we had was delicious. A few small hiccups such as not receiving a spoon before stew came out. But nothing life shattering. And our server was overall very good at his job.

Such an awesome place. Okay so it isn’t truly an “old” bar, I think it was built/renovated in 2013, and I think they are trying to make it seems a lot older than it is. But it’s amazing anyways. Also the 20% gratuity was added automatically because my check exceeded $150 and the reason why my check was greater than 150 is because they added the processing fee.

Been here a couple of times this season and it’s always on point. Not surprising, the cocktails are excellent. Martini’s, sazeracs, more classics and their own specialties are all perfect. Had dinner on the 2nd floor on my most recent visit
This is the benchmark for what I love to experience in a bar. The food is great so feel free to try anything on the menu, but the drinks are the real stars here. The staff knows what it takes to make "having a drink" feel more like taking
Every time I go (often) they provide the absolute best hospitality, incredible food, and incredible cocktails. The consistency and quality control is impressive and doesn’t matter who’s behind the bar as all of the bartenders are super
Hands down the best cocktail bar in NYC. It has a great ambiance and amazing service. The waitress was very patient, jolly and courteous, explained all doubts that we had regarding the cocktail ingredients. I loved the mescal and old
Very nice atmosphere. The Irish coffees were excellent (all of them). If you get a chance go to the Parlor above it!

The best cocktail bar and my personal favorite! Also make a point to stop here when in town. Perfect spot for some food and cocktails after a statue of liberty trio.

Such a fun place in Newyork City we loved it, very busy place and we had a few kewl drinks, unfortunately we didn't eat, but we will be back. Great vibes and super Christmas feeling …
The holiday decor is cheery and homey. Rooms are crowded but there are multiple bars and rooms. Enjoy the hundreds of photos on the ceiling beams.

I wanted to visit this iconic whiskey place since I know whiskey distilled by the Dublin Liberties and one of their whiskeys is named after the Dead Rabbit.
Exactly what I would have expected an old Irish pub in NY to be like. The Ruben Sandwich was delicious! Wish I could visit more often. More
