5 stars for freshwater fish variety, -1 star for prices of other items. Although I enjoyed their variety of freshwater fish and they seemed reasonably priced, I was not impressed with their prices for anything else. Parts, food, maintenance items, preventative care, medicine, and decorative items all over priced. There are at least 3 other local fish shops within 4-8 miles of this shop that have more reasonable prices for all other items. Still very pleased with the selection of freshwater fish though, and how every single fish was in an adequately sized tank! It’s very sad to see fish crammed together, or in too small of a tank, I saw non of that issue here and that was my favorite part! They also didn’t seem to have any plants for sale. That was a bummer. I was pretty excited to see they had a Phantom Green Pleco, but the poor thing was covered with an infection. I haven’t purchased fish from here yet, I will likely attempt to do so in the future solely based on their variety of freshwater tropical species. I also enjoyed the different themed decorations in each tank. They could probably do the place better justice by getting rid of the carpet under the tanks, it’s bunching up and honestly is a trip hazard. Hard floors, maybe concrete floors, with the long non slip utility rubber mats would be more functional, less hazardous, and more aesthetically pleasing. I almost gave 3 stars because of the price and the pleco but with every fish appearing happy and in the right sized tanks... man that’s awesome.
I’ve been coming to this place since I was a child. It had always been my favorite for fish. I recently came in after not having had fish for quite awhile, looking for some for my son. The owner has always been amazingly sweet and helpful and I’ve never once had an issue until today. The younger gentleman who helped me could not have been more condescending if he’d tried. I asked for 2 tetra from one tank and 2 tetra from another. I’d done this before years ago, and the owner had no issue selling them to me. Why the younger gentleman decided to tell me there would need to be a school of them with the attitude of an adult reprimanding a child is beyond me. He was very short while telling me this, and felt no need to elaborate. Simply giving me the bare minimum of information. I then ask for a Cory Cat, which again I’ve only bought one of from here in the past, and yet again he speaks to me as if I’m a child. After speaking to me this way, he was then EXTREMELY dismissive of me, as though I’ve become an inconvenience. Had he spoken to me like we’re both grown, I’d have bought the 9 in total he’d recommended. This gentleman is a child himself. It’s obvious he’s had exactly zero training in customer service and will absolutely run more customers away. He certainly made sure I won’t be coming back. Unfortunate that the big box stores have better customer service. Seems the Fish Place is going downhill.
This place is awesome to check out fish you have and have not seen before they have great verity of salt and fresh water fish. Also lots to look at makes the drive and customer experience very nice. The staff is well knowledgeable and are very friendly. The store is well kept and in a nice location. It can get packed here and there but not too bad. They sell all supplies along with safe filtered water for your tanks that includes fresh and salt. They sell tanks as well big one to simi small tanks. Fish are healthy and are well token care of. You can also donate fish to them that are too big for your tank and they will keep them and also re-home them. I recommend checking this place out specially if you want healthy and different spices of fish.
The only place for fish and aquaria. Having been here many, many times, they spend as much time helping you whether you're a first time buyer or an enthusiast. I've always been impressed with how they treat new customers and they really know their stuff. Not just that, but their animals are the healthiest I've seen in any store, anywhere---and I've purchased from them for a long time. Their prices will be a little higher on some fish, but you are getting the best stock, and I've never had a sick fish from them. Their prices on tanks, accessories and foods are comparable to big box stores, though, and you'll have a much better selection here anyway.
Seems that every fish store has it's own personality and I love the feel of The Fish Place. For over 10 years I have done business with Jerry and consistently get friendly and informative help from him and the people that work there. Jerry has ordered some hard to get livestock and they have done well in our tank as have the fish and corals I have purchased on the spot. We bought our 180 tank from him and he and his crew helped us set it up and move it twice, successfully. He's answered my many questions and given me good advice on tank issues. If you are looking for a reliable fish place to shop, be sure to visit the Fish Place.
I came here after my Betta died and Petco suggested I visit an actual fish shop for something new. First off, it's just so fun to walk around and see all the neat fish and aquarium setups. I was approached very quickly and the associate stuck with me throughout my entire visit. Mind you, I have a 5 gallon tank so my entire purchase was not going to be that large and yet she took the time to answer all my questions, showed me all the types that could work and gave me suggestions based on my experience with fish keeping. She was very knowledgeable and friendly. I did not feel rushed and I am so pleased with my new fish friends.
I come here pretty regularly when I'm in town. This store always has a remarkable variety of freshwater species, lots of oddballs that you'd have a hard time finding anywhere else. The live plant selection is also very impressive. The only drawback is the prices. Aquarium keeping is an expensive hobby to be sure, but you're better off finding driftwood, decor, and more common species at other fish and reptile stores, as the prices here can be double or more of what others offer. Sometimes the extra money is worth a rare or healthier fish, but spiderwood is more or less the same no matter where you get it.
This is an amazing aquarium store! I highly recommend checking them out. I’m from South Dakota and I took a trip up there with my dad. I bought some live plants and two rabbits snails from there. They did a fantastic job packaging them up and they all survive the two day trip back! The staff was very friendly and helpful. They have a very good knowledge of setting up and caring for live planted aquariums. And their fish looked absolutely beautiful! They all looked healthy and I didn’t see any dead fish. I only do freshwater tanks but they seem to have good knowledge on saltwater tanks as well!
There are very sickly Axolotls here. They’re in incorrect housing with fish they shouldn’t be housed with. They’re very small yet have sand, rocks, and snails in their tank. One was very clearly near death. He was hardly moving and his legs were splayed out weird. One Axolotl was in a koi pond with koi fish. The water wasn’t the right temperature. It’s all so depressing. I was looking to buy some plants here for my Axolotl but after seeing how they housed theirs, I can not support this business. If you’re looking for an Axolotl please go to a reputable breeder like Axolotl Planet in Dallas.
I love this fish and aquarium supply store!! The staff are awesome, friendly and knowledgeable!! The owner was so nice and helpful!! He's very knowledgeable about fish, aquariums and supplies plus his store has a wide variety of aquarium setups and supplies as well as a wide variety of all both freshwater and marine fish, frogs, invertebrates and plants. I was super impressed with The Fish Place and will definitely be doing all my aquarium shopping here from now on! Sorry PetSmart! You ain't got nothing on The Fish Place!
The staff was very helpful. I'm very new to the fish world and they're super helpful with answering all my questions . There's alot of different information online and it was hard to really find what worked for the type of fight I was looking for. They also sell their fish alot cheaper then the regular pet stores . I was trying to get one at the pet store and it was 50$ and here they sell the same fishy for 19.99 $. One of the men working there have me really good recommendations for how to set up my fish for the best health .
I've been shopping at this store for a while now and I really like it! All the employees that I've met have been nice and help me out when I need it. The only complaint I have is that almost everything is quite expensive. The prices do change a little bit depending on their cost for the first that shipment it seems. They do have a dollar plant tank which I love! Also, their ghost shrimp are much cheaper than anywhere else that I've seen them.
Have been coming here for many years. Jerry does a phenomenal job keeping up the store and his livestock is always high quality. Had individual tanks for the salt fish (no mixing of water with other tanks) as well as a nice newer coral setup. Very expansive freshwater selection, and had lots of dry goods and deals on used setups in the front of the store. Ask and they can order you just about anything you need
I love this place! Good people, good fish, and they are always helpful when picking out fish! The employees are all very knowledgeable and always help me get the PROPER fish even if I think I'm smarter than someone who literally works in a fish store. All the bad ratings on this store are form morons who think they know best or have a problem with employees trying to explain how to keep fish alive works.
I love the fish place! The only thing is, I have been one there waiting list for a rope fish since 2018 and I have yet to get a call from them. I know they have had rope fish but every time I go in there all ready gone :( but they are very helpful and I only buy fish from them. I have never gotten a sick fish from the fish place either. I would have given 5 stars but the waiting list put it at four.
Fantastic! We went for the first time today and everyone we spoke to was very kind and knowledgeable! I highly recommend coming here for your salt and freshwater needs. We cannot wait to go back again. Went back recently and as always, loved the expert advice they gave and looking forward to future visits! I learned they offer maintenance through them and also layaway for large tanks!
What a surprise! We learned that this company has been around since the 80's. You can tell that they really care about the quality of the fish, the variety and the conditions of the tank. There is a different theme in almost every tank so if you need some inspiration this is the place. If you like to support local businesses this place is worth the drive.
I love this place! They offer tanks on lay away and I have gotten a tank with them that way. Super friendly and helped me load it in my car. We prefer this store more for hard scape, driftwood and rock, and supplies. You can also find some super cool and rare fish from time to time. But we’re fresh water people. Def stop by and give this shop a look.
The fish place has a very professional atmosphere the employees there seem to know what they are talking about their prices are fair for everything that they own and they have a really beautiful miniature Australian Shepherd that is very friendly. They all helped me out with finding what I needed and I would highly recommend it to any of my.
While the fish look healthy, the cashier guy doesn’t exactly seem happy to be there. Borderline rude even when asked a question. Ended up not buying anything. I’ll stick with Paradise Fish, where they are at least happy to be there, you can tell they actually love fish and always more than willing to help. First and last time at this place.
I was definitely impressed with my first visit. We had great help from one of the employees, who answered our questions, and gave great recommendations. I was impressed with the size of the freshwater section, as I've been disappointed with the lack of variety of freshwater fish in other stores. I especially enjoyed the two shop dogs :)
The Fish Place is the only local fish store I buy from in Dallas/Fort Worth because they consistently sell healthy fish. I have purchased a wide array of fish, snails, and plants from The Fish Place and have never had any issues. They also have great customer service and always offer to help you as soon as you walk in the store.
It was my first time coming here and I and had a pleasant experience. I was actually greeted when I walked into the store unlike other stores-and I received the service I needed. They have a huge selection of fresh and salt water fish and two cute and adorable employee pups. I’ll be returning here for sure.
This is a great place to pick up anything related to fresh water equipment and fish. I will refrain from commenting on Salt water since that was not on my radar. They have a great knowledgeable staff. Very good assortment of fish and reasonable water program. I would recommend this place to anyone.
Very large selection of fresh and salt water pets. Really nice set up. Pro. 1.They have alot of different options as in what you want and size. 2 Layout makes it easy to view fish. Cons. 1. Very pricey compared to other shops. 2. Staff not as Knowledgeable as others (alot of school kids.)
My husband and I have gotten quite a bit of our stock from The Fish Place and all of fish have been very good quality. We are very new to fishkeeping and anytime I come in, all of my questions are answered respectfully and kindly. Will absolutely be back for more of our aquarium needs.
Very well kept fish. I would 100% recommend this store to anyone. Everyone who works here is friendly and knowledgeable and is willing to help anyone who is just starting a tank of any kind. Also great with maintenance for your home tanks. Very honest and trustable employees and owner.
They have earned a customer. Went in to look and ask questions as I’m a newbie. Lori was super helpful and answered every question and taught me so much. Walked out with new shrimp, hermits, and food. She also helped me learn how to test my own water and never once talked over my head.
Best fish store in town! They have a huge selection of fish as well as aquarium accessories, food for my reptiles and every fish and frog that I've purchased from there has been much healthier than ones I've gotten from big got stores. Also the staff is friendly and knowledgeable.
I drive 2 hours from central texas to come here. Helpful friendly staff. With the largest selection of fish I have ever seen. And if they don have it they will order for you. Very clean and professional environment. They got me a king tiger pelco that I love and did very well.
Love this fish store!!! I haven’t been to many to know of they are too notch but I do know that every time we come in there they are all friendly, helpful, and willing to talk to you. They give a military discount and prices already seem to be really good! Thanks guys
These folks are great and knowledgeable! Ive visited several times and already plan a weekly trip in to see what's new or what catches my attention. Great tanks, great environment, and skilled staff! What else could you ask for? They'd probably do that too.
Very knowledgeable staff. Good selection of fish. Fish prices are a little higher than the chain stores, but the quality is a lot better. The prices on their dry goods are really high though. I can only imagine it's because they don't sell much of it.
I've been looking for a good store to find some specific fish I picked out for my new aquarium. I was more than happy to find they had everything on my list! Very nice staff and you can tell they do right by the fish here. This is now my go to store!
Fantastic place. Owner has been running this place for a long time. Most of the staff are very knowledgeable. Will definitely recommend this place versus your box retailers that tend to have poor quality fish and inexperienced/disinterested staff.
Great selection of freshwater plants as well as fish. great customer service/always asked if I need help with anything. Very decent pricing on everything in the store. It's my go too for anything I need for my tanks and I highly recommend them.
From my local list of fish stores in the DFW area, The Fish place ranks number one for both Marine and fresh water. The prices are cheaper than Petco, or any store around the area. The staff know their stuff, I mean, I am educated each time
We had shopped here once, got some fish. Initially impressed with the store. HOWEVER, after 3 weeks and almost 6 attempts to even get an appt scheduled for our tank maintenance and filter, we are still being fed the same line. "Let me get
I got 2 nerite snails... got home and one had a shell that had eroded over much of the shell. Hopefully his new tank with a good ph and mineral level will help... the other was missing a few small pieces. They should be kept in water that
Very knowledgeable staff who work hard to keep the fish happy and looking healthy. I learned a lot talking with the owner and they had a few options to help me out with my tank setup/ lighting. A pretty good selection of fresh water fish.
I was very impressed but The Fish Place! The owner and his staff were all very knowledgeable and helpful!! We were asked several times by different people if there was anything they could help us with. One gentleman spent quite a bit of
I use to go there once a month. Usually check out their plants. Bought about 75$ worth. One the guy put in my lotus bulb and several other plants all in the same bag. When I when to take the bulb out it detached wasted 16$ on that.
Good selection, prices are reasonable. I haven't had to pick anyone's brain yet but I was recommended to the store because they are knowledgeable. The fish seem healthy but the tanks look like they need some love. I will be back.
I have been going here for years. The staff is always so knowledgeable and friendly. They have a large amount of different fish both freshwater and salt water. We love going in and looking around. It's like going to an aquarium.
Love this place! Great selection, friendly knowledgeable staff that really love what they do! Highly recommend this place to anyone who wants quality fish! Plus on a side note, their saltwater tanks and fish are beautiful!!
Great selection. More importantly healthy fish. And knowable staff. Very engaging and very helpful. If you want expect advise. Come here. I will say prices are a little high. Not ridiculous, but they are more expensive.
This is such a great fish store. The staff is always friendly and very knowledgeable. The availability of fresh and saltwater pets is quite a site. We love going to the store and always find what we're looking for.
Amazing place love the employees. When they tell me how not to pick out fish I listen even if I think I'm Amano Takashi. Shout out to the younger tall guy who helped me not kill some schooling fish. :)
Great fish store. Super nice people and lots to choose from. The manager helped me with a large purchase of high end substrate and got me an excellent price. I couldn't be happier. Thank you sir …
Large variety of fish, fresh and salt water. The sales staff is friendly but should not assume every customer is a novice tank owner. Some customers actually have 50 or 60 years of aquarium experience.
Extremely helpful staff. Very knowledgeable and helpful if you're new to the hobby. Even though its 45 minutes away from where I live, this is the only place that I will buy my live plants/fish from.
Nice to have an actual fish store available. The people are friendly and very helpful. They let look without constantly asking if they can help. Prices are reasonable and the fish are healthy.
Great store! Great selection of fresh and salt fish, and their staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. I go to them with problems and or questions and have always took the time to help me.
Always get my fish from this store. I have never had a die off from an infectious disease unlike the big box stores. Selections are plentiful and staff is knowledgeable about fish keeping.
Great varieties of fish for both fresh & saltwater tanks. Knowledgeable , non-judgmental staff to help you with needs &/or questions! Plus very friendly beautiful dogs walking around.
Store was very clean and well organized. Fish selection was great. Employees were knowledgeable and willing to help and make suggestions. May be the best fish store in Ft Worth.
Service was awesome! Tanks were clean, fish were beautiful and healthy. I bought 6 Angel fish and they are doing great even after an hour drive to get them home.
I love this store. You can pop in and just browse a beautiful selection of creatures. And when you leave you can grab some good BBQ at Woody Creek
This place is great. Staff knows thier stuff and never got any unhealthy fish, unlike the plethora of problems from fish at big box stores.
The staff is very helpful and answers all my questions thoroughly. I'll definitely keep coming back for my aquarium needs in the future.
Great selection of freshwater fish. Competitive in store prices. Knowledgeable staff. The salt water fish could use some love though.
Great selection with great customer service. We visited the store 2x with in a few days of each other and will be going back again.
Beautiful tanks. Today I went for a new filter and some plants. The person that assisted me was very nice and helpful.
I'm so glad I have come here. Everyone is very knowledgeable. I have a 55 gal water tank now full of fish.
LOVE THIS PLACE and the owner is awesome Everyone is super helpful and I love seeing all the fish
First time at the store and I was quite impressed. Wide variety of fishes and great fast service!
It's a long drive, but always worth it! The staff is very nice, this is my favorite fish store.
Nice looking fish. Great customer service. Employee was Sammy. Thank you. Love my fish.
Employees are very knowledgeable and helpful! Best fish that are disease free!
Love the fish place. Very reasonable prices, healthy fish, and great service.
Very helpful and friendly people here, all of them. Nice clean store also
A very good Mom and Pop shop with a very good assortment of tropical fish
Excellent service. Good variety of fresh & salt water fish and corals.
Very good customer service and willing to help anyway they can.
Very pretty. They have dogs that you can say hi to. 10/10
Best fish store in fort worth!
