Kelsey-Seybold has one of it's many clinics in "The Highlight" shopping mall, smack-dab in the middle of downtown Houston, which was why I was in the building, and I must say it's incredibly convenient. The retail shops are slightly limited, and a little overpriced, but the real estate overhead is probably through the roof. However, the Food Court has an amazing selection of lunch (and some breakfast) choices, including a few good chains as well as outstanding, one-of-a-kind options. In addition, if you are buying your lunch and NOT carrying it straight back to your desk to work through your lunch, the highlight of "The Highlight" is definitely the available public seating, both for dining and work stations (to work through lunch away from your desk, I guess).
We went to have lunch today after not going downtown for about 10 months, and the Shops at Houston Center was so quiet. It was always busy with office people during the lunch hours but today it was dead and so many of the shops and restaurants are gone. We at at Potbelly which is always good but we were disappointed that starbucks was closed. Not many office workers, mainly essential blue color workers in the food court. We did enjoy seeing the robot though. The whole downtown area just seemed dead except for the homeless people all over. Just sad to see after all these months this mall has not recovered.
Not much of a shopping center. Some souvenirs for the visitor, couple of other retails spots, but the place really exists as a large food court for the area businesses downtown. Place is dead later afternoon through evening and on weekends when I have been down there. I guess there is just not enough off-hours business to keep it open into the evening/weekends. Perhaps as more people move downtown? Basically, don't expect it to be open outside of weekday mid-day.
It had been a very long time since either of us had been in the tunnel. Of course, since it was almost Christmas, everything was closing early and there were not many people there. It was nice though to travel with no crowds. We didn't eat or shop. I would like to see other areas of the tunnel that have more shops when we have more time. I highly recommend that you go at least once. It would also be a great way to get some exercise.
This place has so much potential! But the building's management seems to hinder the potential for great commerce of this mini mall. Everyday, tourists from out of town are turned away due to the early closing hours. Afternoon business potential suffers because of the stores closing 2-3 hours BEFORE the mall even closes. It seems that despite downtowns major growth this place might fall away and fail like Green Street.
"Shops" is really stretching reality too far. This is a large food court, punctuated by niche shops. The shops are relatively mediocre, as are the majority of the food options. If you are willing it walk a little ways you can find some better food in the tunnels. At lunch time, this place is pretty busy, so best to plan to either come early or late, or to just wait in line for a little bit.
A diverse entertaining shopping experience to feed the masses. The selection of options for the appetite is quite a tremendous one. I for one enjoy shopping, and this mall hidden in the veins of downtown are extraordinary. Restrooms are very clean. Staff is helpful and direct. I adore the many doors you can take to enter this facility. This is a great place to explore.
Its a spacious mall located in the middle of the town that has some shops, restautants, fitness place, doctors offices, a sports bar, food court, etc. The mall appears to be not attracting many customers. It appeared empty and many stores and restaurants had closed their doors for good. I hope the businesses located inside this mall find that spark and reopen someday.
Cool nice tunnel system. Could be a little confusing if not paying attention to the signs. You could tell pre-COVID, it was a thriving shopping center, but a lot of businesses have moved out or closed. Hair salons and haircut places are still open down there. There's also eatery but seating is limited. Bathrooms via the tunnel system are closed off.
We went and tried Puttshack. The vibe is super cute and the food and drinks were great. The only thing I can say that I didn't like was when it was our time to putt. It was to many people in our time slot so we had to keep waiting to putt at each section. Other than that donye our server was attentive and on point with everything.
Decent restaraunt selection for fast food or dine in, but the eating area is just plain nasty. Chair coverings peeling off, tables are nasty sticky. Wifi is spotty to bad. Management needs to sink some money into improvement fast. I have been eating at the park shops for over 20 years and this is the worst I have ever seen it.
its a pretty good place. If you work in the area, and have not time enough to go back home for lunch, or you just forget it, you can go to the Food Court, and there you have multiple options. The maintenance crew keep the place very clean. the only thing, you need a map and update the places you have in the building.
Not a hip place to chill! We happen to be in the area and decided to see what this shopping mall all about. Everything was literally closed including the restaurants. I guess if you are in the area and looking for a place to eat and you work in the area. You will find alot things during those business hours.
I went to this restaurant with a couple of my co-workers and it was more than one restaurant so actually one that went to the Chick-fil-A one day when went to the barbecue place. I can really say I enjoyed my visit here every time I went very clean. I did see security walking around so I felt safe.
Good place to visit for a variety of food options in the food court. Other than the food court it's nothing when you want to visit to do shopping. So don't drive to this place to do shopping, waste of time as they don't have any specialty restaurants as well, just a regular lunch time shops.
I went to this location as it was indicated they carried a product I was looking for. This retailer didn't even answer the phone. And of course did t have e the product. The mall itself is very nice. A lot of different eateries. I was not aware there was a mall at this location.
It’s a fine little mall. Food court on level three, there are some diverse restaurants like Doozo, Bullritos, and other more. No complicated hallways or entrances since there are escalators and signs. I would come here just for a snack from one of these restaurants located here.
There are lots of good restaurants in the food court. Couple novelty shop. If you are looking for a place to eat lunch, come here. It is a building in downtown so parking is challenge if you aren't familiar with parking options. Planning ahead and walk a few blocks to get here.
Loads of food options under one roof. Two *'s - Variety (Numerous cuisines for everyone). One * - Fantastic bang of the buck. One * - Ease of access. Minus One * - Food court needs an update with better stores. Some eateries are way under standard and have gone obsolete.
You won’t find much for shopping. Lot of food outlets. But most of them close soon in evening. More of like very office cafeteria space. Want some food to just eat go won’t find galleria mall like ambience or anything similar. Just go there get your subway and all set.
Not the same bustling place of 20 years ago. Food court has some places open and some medical facilities open, otherwise this place is a ghost town after the lunch hour. Walked over here after jury duty was dismissed and it’s no longer the place to hang out. Saddened.
Disappointed with the limit number of stores. There are a lot more eateries than shopping places. What we enjoyed the most was the self serve ice cream machine in the middle of the mall. The tunnels are not at all busy, almost to the point of being a little scary.
I love it don’t get me wrong but it’s not the same not a lot of shops like back in day but also I took my baby one weekend not a lot of food choice’s just potbelly and I wish they wouldn’t just cater to the Monday through Friday workers what about weekends
Beautifully laid out indoor Mall. Plenty of restaurants and stores. Interesting to see the stores stretching over the second and third floor of two buildings and a dinning area over a street using a high bridge. Wide enough for walking. I will visit again!
Many different types of food too choose from plus one end of building leads to tunnel system under downtown 6 miles of tunnels with more food and shops. Helps keep everyone out of the heat. Well light and busy but closed down on weekends only open weekdays
I visited around January 2022 it was under some reconstruction or something I'm not sure if it's anything more than just an extension to the healthcare system though . There's Kelsey Seybold and some optometrist and what not . I would still recommend .
This mall definitely has everything you need!! I love the wide variety in it. there are Many stores have great & high quality and the prices are very fair there are Many stores have great & high quality and the prices are very fair!! Highly recommend!
Large food court mainly catering to business professionals during work hours. Peak hours during lunch hours and most stores closed before 5pm. Food court opens on Saturday for 1/2 day. Building is conveniently connected to the downtown tunnel system.
Under major construction. No other city will allow you to eat or shop while the entire mall is under construction. So if you like dust and debris to go with that pricey food then have at it. You'll be better off at a clean $3 food truck.
I remember this place from about 10 years ago. I'm happy it's finally open again in time for the holidays. There's only a few restaurants open right now but definitely worth the visit if you're walking around Houston for a little while.
Please be aware this is NOT a shopping center. This location is NOT a mall. There is a hallmark store and a food court that's it. I had an appointment in Houston and I brought my littel sister along. I promised her shopping after the
Badly outdated, doesn't even have a Wendys or McDonalds to hang their hat on. The stores here are very bad other than Jos a Bank. Even a tourist, this is not worth the time. You will think you're walking in a building from the 1980's.
It's alright being that it has various food options to choose from, but the rent that the vendors are being charged here must be kind of high as I've seen multiple businesses open and close over the years (Sarku Japan, Indian Grills,
I work in the downtown. So I visit shops frequently. Not really a great and clean place. I respect the cleaning crew but the impact is low. Shops keep changing. Many vendors vacate. No study business! Overall ok kind of a place.
Definitely has some variety. I wouldn't call this a mall as their is only minimal retail and the rest is food. Food choices are good but filling some empty spots with some common fast food wood be nice.
An empty shell of what probably used too be. The place has a great food court to chose from which is probably what keeps the lights on in this place. But the lackluster stores aren't much to do or see.
The food court definitely has a lot of variety. I was able to find a Murphys deli after a long time. Also Chic Fil-a, Italian and Indian place as well. I think there may be lack of Chinese food though.
We went there and nothing was open there was nobody there the escalators weren’t working there was about 3 places that were open and all the spaces were empty this place is nothing like the pictures
This is more so a food court than shops, but that makes it a great stop for having lunch. There are many owned restaurants as well as chains like Chick Fil A, and there is outdoor balcony seating.
All kinds of shops and eateries are there. Mostly I've taken lunch here in the food court during office time. I'll recommend Chick-fil-A, pho noodle express, Thai basil, Starbucks and subway.
Unique style shopping center, something that if you're from out of the area (as I am) fun to go visit. Has good selection of good in the food court as well and some really good dumplings.
Large, open space mall w/ a number of restaurants. Unfortunately, there are plenty of vacancies (Feb '23) so there could be more stores or restaurants. Until then, plenty of seating!
Stores are empty. All of location being remodeled. The food court is still there, it a maze when you see your restaurant on a small sign. I had Otto's barbeque. Brisket and sausage.
Cool electronic scoring in a nice air conditioned location. Play is fast because you can play any hole so no waiting on groups. Brush up on your Houston trivia for a better score
Not a highlight. Note that the food court is closed on weekends. If you’re in to touring abandoned malls, that’s probably the one reason to check this place out on the weekend.
Super clean place, great food choices but no shopping. Little indoor putt putt center which looks awesome for any age. Just no shopping stores… all places are vacant
During our time in downtown Houston , my family and I stumbled upon The Highlight at Houston Center. Our experience at this shopping center was enjoyable.
There's bound to be something for everyone!!! I loved it. It was a bit noisy do to renovations in some areas but all in all it is a great place to visit!!!
Nice big mall and almost all famous shops are here. We love it, it has so much variety of things to do for the entire family. we very happy in there!
A Center fo Dine-in , it’s more like restaurants center than a shopping center. Most people came for a lunch break. It’s very crowded at lunch time.
A literal ghost town?? There are no open shops. I was there at 3:00pm and only about half of the food places were open. It’s basically abandoned
Best breakfast I’ve EVER had coming from Florida traveling to Arizona for work. Couldn’t ask for a better welcome to Texas meal …
This is the bare minimum of shopping. It could and should be so much more being downtown with all the new living building up in downtown.
Googled mall near me and this place came up, not a bad place but not a mall at all. Most of it is empty but good place for a walk
Love this place, nice variety of shops and restaurants. Was only there for work with a contractor but over all good vibes
Currently, it's just an empty location besides a few food businesses. There isn't any shopping, other than a GNC store.
We went for PuttShack, we thought this mall was for sure abandoned. Only like three places open on a Saturday at noon.
It was okay, but revisiting it back in 2019? Even though I’m happy I revisited it, it’s just not the same anymore.
Nothing going on here… parking is expensive but there are no shops. The security personnel is friendly though.
July 2023 updates. Did a google map search and went to this mall. Mall is closed just few restaurant open.
I get medicine here at Kelsey pharmacy and eat dumpling at douzo. It’s accessible through the tunnels.
There’s is nothing here but a food court that’s barely open. The photos are pre pandemic.
The place is a wreck due to remodeling. I'm sure that is a temporary situation, though.
You just have to go to experience it when you find out where it is you won't believe it
It great having this in the middle of all downtowns craziness. Lots of things to do
Pretty cool. Just make sure you have a reservation.
Just food court. No shops at all.
Staff were very friendly.
