I have recently visited The Main. My expectations were high as I visited this restaurant but a while ago, and everything was great during the peak hours. This time around noon for lunch and it was not as busy as I had seen before. I have no complaints about food. Pasta and chicken were great. However, I am not very much happy with the customer service. Took a lot of time to come to the table to get an order. The wine glasses that we got had transparent lip stains on it. That's not acceptable from such a high reputation reataurant. Wait for the order to take and receive both were too much. I expect drinks to come quickly if it's just premade drinks. I am happy to wait if I know it's heavily busy, but it was not. Maybe staff has been changed recently. I have seen other tables returning their orders as well. Might be another mistake of taking the wrong orders. I think a restaurant in such a good suburb and busy area should maintain or keep up their reputation. Otherwise, there are a few other options around, and people love to go a little further if they get good service and food.

Update: 18 Nov—Visited today and while we were explaining to the staff that the Nasi Goreng we ordered was spicy his tone was argumentative saying Nasi Goreng is meant to be spicy—but of course this is not an authentic Indonesian restaurant and the expectation was the spice level would have been adjusted (or the menu would have specified that spice level can be adjusted). Menu says topped with chilli and yes there was plenty of chilli toppings. We only wanted acknowledgement as it was a feedback (because this staff came to ask how was the food). We did not want to be lectured as if we haven’t tried such food from somewhere else. Been visiting this place often when I used to live in Berwick few years ago. Place has expanded a bit which can accommodate more outdoor sitting. Went here for dinner with friends recently and things seem to remain almost the same as my visit 2 years ago. The place can be quite crowded due to the close distances between the tables. Food was still great—their pizza and pasta remain awesome.

This is the first time to write a review and sadly is a bad one. One of the eye ribs steak was burnt, Sarah the waitress replaced it, not a problem there. She was great and very helpful. Later my friend tasted some dirt on the side salad, didn’t make a fuss because the plate is almost finished anyway. We just let the waitress sent the feedback to the kitchen so they can be mindful to wash thoroughly in the future. The night just got worse, the manager came out no apology, insisted it was the grill charcoal ( knew that was what she going to say but no worries, didn’t want to get into argument). Finally it’s time to pay- we confirmed before ordering food, customers can get 10% discount if we used a pay app ( similar to Apple Pay ) but suddenly their machine is not connected so no discount anymore. The manger has not apologised nor offered alternatives, she blamed the waitress instead, because she was new?? Come on! Sadly we are not going back again. It’s a shame because the restaurant has been there for years and it was my local restaurant.

Great service, friendly and accommodating. My daughter and family go here for brunch very often and go large.. three courses and sides, just for brunch. As their guest I had the eggs benedict. However being about 1pm, which was more lunch than breakfast, I would advise not to go for the eggs benedict beyond a couple of hours past opening time. Like most cafes serving this all time favourite I suspect that the poached eggs are cooked in bulk using the 50/50 3 minute method in order to keep up with the demand, which works well over an hour or so. After that the egg is no longer poached with the lovely runny inside but soft boiled perfect for caesar salad. I should have ordered caesar salad... DOH! That aside, I would seriously recommend anything else on the menu, everything else ordered looked and tasted delicious.

I am absolutely disgusted with our experience! I’m not one to ever ever write a review let alone a bad one but this needs to be shared. To start off with, the service is horrible, asked for a highchair which was forgotten instantly , along with nobody coming to take your order . Then we had one of the female managers come up and kiss my 9 month baby on the cheek/ almost on his mouth without permission! My boyfriend and I were mortified, who kisses a random baby? Disgusting . Food was absolutely horrible, I ordered the seafood pasta and my prawns were still frozen inside! My partner ordered the chicken Parma and it was the most over cooked piece of chicken we have ever tasted. I Kid you not we couldn’t even bite into it. Such a waste of money and has put such a bad taste in our mouth. Never ever will I go back there. Management really needs to try their own food

Have been dining in at The Main for somewhere around 10 years now. The food has nearly always been spot on. (Very few occasions where minor things weren't quite right). My most recent visit was on the 14/09/22. There were issues with staff being unable to come in. All I can say is that the night was an excellent experience all thanks to one person... Nancy... she absolutely smashed out a busy evening with only one other staff member to help, even so, she had the most refreshingly positive and cheerful attitude I have seen in a long time. Something that becomes more and more rare as time goes on unfortunately. Management would be wise to look after her as I can say that even if the food were mediocre, I'd still go back simply to say hi and how are you to Nancy (and grab a meal of course). A good location, decent prices, good food and excellent customer experience... what more could you ask for? Keep up the good work!

Love The Mains pizza. Hats off to the chef. Please don't stop making them the way you do. I'd love to give 5 stars but there's 2 reasons why I didn't. I don't mean to be nitty-picky about this, but I noticed how one of the staff members treated me. I received my order of pizzas but they forgot my cake. When I said this to the staff member he questioned another staff member in front of me as if I was lying. I'd appreciate it if staff wouldn't treat me as if I'm lying. I've been coming to The Main since I was a teenager, and I wasn't too happy with how that staff member treated me. That staff member also saw that I had a hand full of pizzas and the other with dessert that I didn't want to spoil by placing it on top of a hot object. I'd appreciate it if that staff member would have opened the door for me. Sorry for the long review. I still love The Main and the experiences I have there. Please support them.

PAY ATTENTION TO WHAT THEY CHARGE YOU! My friends ordered a kids pizza margarita to share for kids. However, they had served us regular pizza (we had no idea at this point). At the cashier, we noticed they charged us $17.95 for the pizza which supposed to be $10.50 only if it was for kids pizza. When questioned, (believe it was the manager) did not apologise for their mistake but simply said they can’t do anything if we have ate it. Of course our kids ate it. Being first time customers we did not know the difference of pizza size they serve for kids. WE ORDERED A KIDS PIZZA AND EXPECTED A KIDS PIZZA. Please note, they made this mistake on a public holiday where they charge 15% surcharge as well. Their unprofessional and ignorant behaviour clearly showed us they have good experience doing this to other customers regularly.

Tasteless. Had a porterhouse steak and it was cooked exactly how I wanted but was absolutely tasteless. No taste whatsoever. I suspect the meat isn’t fresh but probably frozen. My wife’s gnocchi and also tasteless. Our waiter Michael was extremely impressive. He was nice and attentive. The Pizza however was good. The owner/manager is arrogant. He will not itemise bills because he doesn’t want too and he lied to my face and said his system doesn’t allow it. You must be able to itemise bills for multiple people because otherwise the restaurant can charge twice for the same items and there is no accountability. It’s more honest to itemise for the sake of the customers that frequent the establishment it’s only common sense. I don’t recommend this restaurant because the food is average and overpriced. The manager is lazy, arrogant and has very unprofessional attitude towards paying customers.

I was brought here for lunch, not knowing what to expect, and was pleasantly surprised. Excellent service, atmosphere and food in every detail. The rib eye was delicious, the chips perfectly crisp, the salad generous and perfect. The calamari was generous in serving, perfectly done and tender, and salad perfect. The linguini marinara was good but maybe I was too full by then and didn't enjoy it as much. Everything was good value. And the coffee was excellent too. Really top notch in every way. ---- Minus one star ⭐️ on a second visit- one of the dishes is pulled lamb salad - the dish was very insubstantial with only a few tiny bits of salad and vegetables and a little lamb - unlike the calamari salad which was abundant and delicious. Another thing unforgivable is when a restaurant charges $1 for a tiny bit of chilli flakes. It's petty.

Last Saturday I went to dinner for my birthday. I ordered medium rare beef steaks for my husband and friend, and slow cooked shanks in rich red wine witch vegies for me. When dinner was placed in front of us, I knew something was wrong. The steaks were uncooked and not as I ordered. My lamb shanks were terrible, I couldn't eat them. Later I found that a cinnamon stick had been inserted. The whole flavour was soaked in it. Who puts cinnamon in slow rich wine slow cooking lamb shanks? It was so bad that I couldn't eat it. I will never come back to this restaurant again. If you read my opinion, you shouldn't come here for dinner. There were several people that day who were not as satisfied with the food as I was. The steaks were horribly cooked .Hope this helps and the management will look into it. This place lost its quality

Found a huge knot of hair in my food hiding underneath some bacon and tomatoes I moved halfway through eating my meal, and instead of apologising and immediately remaking the meal, the head waiter/manager decided to argue with me and say that it was my hair in the food because nobody in the kitchen ‘could have possibly done that’. I would have been okay if they had just immediately remade the meal, but arguing with me and saying it was my fault instead of fixing the mistake was just terrible and rather confronting. On a side note, there was also no knives, forks or napkins resting on any of your outside tables where we were, when we asked for some with our meal we watched the server walk around to each outside table trying to find some random ones lying around. Thanks for making my brunch with my friend a less than positive experience coming from your wait staff.

We have enjoyed many meals over the years at The Main however on our latest visit my meal was not enjoyable. The parmigiana was quite overcooked & dry and the 3 chips I ate were extremely hard & over cooked. According to the staff there has been a change of menu which meant there was no side salad included with the meal. Upon enquiring when ordering, I was advised that I could not have vegetables instead of the chips due to the change in menu. I have given 2 stars because my son enjoyed his meal but was also disappointed as the description advised that it came with potatoes & vegetables however the vegetables it referred to were diced carrots in the sauce. We will not rush back!

Not so Main at all really....visited for lunch, floor staff were minuscule and not so great to deal with. Only what I could call the floor manager was well mannered and professional as always. Our order took roughly 35mins for a Calamari Main dish and what they call an open steak sandwich. The open steak sandwich although nice taste made me laugh, it only came with on slice of bread. So at least call it an open half sandwich. The calamari I thought was a joke. Thought they gave me the entree size but was advised was the main. I decided to eat the chips and salad to contrast the amount of calamari I was given. I found this pathetic. Pic below. Not so sure I want to come back after this experience.

Last time we came for a meal here was 18 months ago. All meals were pretty much a disaster and service was shocking that day. Took over half an hour to get the drinks we ordered. Most meals were either over seasoned (lamb shank - the excessive herbs destroyed it) or were bland. Parma was small and dry. Oysters were tiny. Noise levels inside were ridiculously high. Still giving 3 stars only because we did have some good meals there prior to that day but it tended to be hit and miss with quality and service. That was our last visit as there are much better places to eat in the local area.

From the moment I was greeted at the door until I was seated the customer service was wonderful. A get together with a friend was a pleasant experience at the Main . From the floor manager ( a beautiful lady ) to the staff I had a lovely experience . My coffee was made so well and the food was just what I was hungry for , definitely a huge plate of food . Booked this place for an event this morning and was extremely pleased with the service and staff. We were a large group, which they were able to cater for well, and did so with friendly and happy staff. Food was just gorgeous. Some so delicious looking we all were salivating and so e very basic and exactly as ordered. Coffee and drinks.. All who drank said they thoroughly enjoyed the hot drinks and it was "yummy" "fabulous" "worthwhile" "tasted excellent " to name some of the feedback I got. I must thank Sev and Nicole, especially, for the care and consideration put into looking after our group. This place is well worth going to. Highly recommend you do.

Visited recently for dinner and although the food was fresh and tasty, the table and positioning wasn't great. 3 of us were squashed onto a table that should be for 2 and when we had a fisherman's platter (shared) and a pasta dish, there was no room for sharing plates. We were also next to a large, noisy table. The restaurant is separated with most of us being squished into the smaller side. The other side was relatively empty - we wondered why we didn't get into that VIP section! The waiter was a cool guy though and our food was great (big serves). The fish was fresh and well cooked, and the pasta dish was graciously adapted to suit a vegetarian.

Really nothing special about the food at all, very basic menu with exorbitant prices and not a lot that’ll wow you. The service staff are mixed - some are really lovely and provide great service and others barely say two words to you. Management in particular has been lovely to deal with in the past. This place jams in as many people as possible so expect it to be difficult to manoeuvre through the dining areas to your table on a busy evening. If you’re okay with paying more for a standard sort of meal, go for it.

Terrible service!!! This place was terrible. We arrived early and before we had even sat down were asked what we wanted to drink. We never even had chance to look at the menu. Then when the rest of the party came (5minutes later) were asked what we wanted to eat. We were rushed out from the door from start to finish. Best thing about it was the restaurant wasn’t even busy. I must say “Great job Michael”. After having a really bad experience at The Main in Sept 22 for my daughters 18th I was very hesitant when she said she would like to return for her 19th a year later. Tried to flag down wait staff, was told he was busy and wouldn't help us, walked away and didn't come back. $5 for side of bacon. Customer service was really poor. We decided to order our meals on our phones with th QR code, including the table numbers written on our table. The waiter came to take our order and when we told him we had done it already, he scolded us like children because the numbers written on the table were incorrect (not our fault at all). My family and I sat in for breakfast this morning and we could not commend the staff here enough. We were greeted by a lovely lady who accommodated us with a pram , provided a high chair and offered to turn down the music . Food and coffee was served quickly and both were hot and delicious. We loved our night at The Main Berwick! . I phoned the morning our booking to book for our extended family of 17. I enjoyed a lovely dinner on Good Friday... I wondered why all the shops were shut for a moment, then realised what day it was, doh... I ordered the wedges, then feeling hungry thought I'd order the calamari to go with it... I ate the calamari first, it was cooked perfectly, very yummy indeed, then I started on the wedges... I honestly wasn't expecting the wedges to be such a large serve, I struggled to finish them all... However, I was determined to finish the wedges, as they were so nice I didn't want to waste them, so I took my time, ordered a beer and finished the bowl...

Sadly, to Said we have been coming here for a few years and food has been great, unfortunately tonight the food was below average, Ribeye steak over done no flavor, meals come at different times, chips on meals seemed came from coles packs. I think they staff new, they didn't even asked how we're your meals, more concerned with the payment almost $276. Will not come back again, maybe new owners or new chef, very disappointed.

We have been to The Main quite a few times and my family really like the food and the atmosphere, however today when we went there, we were greated by a very rude staff member who happens to be one of the Manager whose behaviour made my whole family feel very uncomfortable. We arrived to The Main for an express bite to eat and were greeted warmly and promptly. We explained that we were in a rush so were told to order asap on the app for quick response. The staff were very nice and friendly. We enjoyed the atmosphere and seating. But for the food, they can be better. We might just have picked not what we like, but it's hard to go wrong with a steak sandwich... The beef steak was bland and chewy, the sourdough skin was super hard... This place has gone down! Had soggy calamari. My partner had a steak and it was bland. This place used to be our weekend haunt, catching up with friends. Will definitely not return. The only positive was Michael, the waiter, genuinely caring, excellent customer service. How do they get a 5 star is unbelievable. My sister and a group of friends were there a few weeks ago and the had the same experience, someone complained about their food and they casually apologise. Will not go back.

Asked for no olives in my pasta but got heaps Dessert was nice... cocktail was nice (blonde sangria)... there was a slice of mushroom in my mother in law's pina colada tho?! She said it was okay but surely that's a health and safety issue. Why are mushrooms anywhere near the bar? Not overly happy at the end of the day and I never complain about anything My husband also said that the lamb shanks were way too salty!! And he is a salt lover, so that's saying something

The food was way overpriced. The children's menu was a complete joke. Not worth it. The management was absolutely terrible. The manager has no regard for customers or staff, and humiliated and degraded staff members in front of the customers. And workplace harassment. Our waiter was lovely however, but the management NEEDS to be changed. The staff need to be treated better.

6/12/22 came here for coffee and cake. Has flourless Jaffa and tiramisu. Yummy! Our latte and iced mochas just as good. Yummy Trio of Gnocchi! Chicken Parma has also very good quality and quantity. For pizza, I'd recommend Tandoori Chicken. And Mark's cake for dessert. We were celebrating our niece's 2 year old birthday and none of us remember to bring candle. We asked to buy candle for them -which they don't sell- but they got us a candle for the little kid to blow anyway! Very happy with their service, all friendly and helpful staffs.

I always enjoy my meals at The Main. They’re always a large size and taste delicious! I think the prices are really good for the amount of food you’re given also. They have a large selection of cakes for dessert too. The staff are always friendly and the manager is always welcoming, the whole place has a great vibe. We have been back multiple times throughout the years and will continue to occasionally dine here!

I have gone to The Main two weeks in a row and i am absolutely delighted in my experience. The friendly staff and fast service definitely add to the positive vibe. And when food is beautifully presented and delicious, it's a win-win! Plus, having a nice outside deck area is such a bonus. I would definitely recommend coming here!

The Spanish eggs, kids Napoli and Bolognese had no taste and were cold. Chips were okay and were a very large portion for a side. Milkshakes were okay. Service wasn't great. After asking multiple staff for cutlery we ended up having to grab our own. Also management seems to treat staff poorly from what we witnessed

Sunday brunch, very busy and quite noisy but that us part of the atmosphere. We had poched eggs on sourdough with a side if bacon. Bacon had a lovely hickory flavour although eggs were on the small size there were three- good value. 2nd was the salmon scrambled ,great serve - couldent finish it. Very good coffe- above average and excellent service, especially considering how busy it was.

Very dirty menus you could catch god knows what from. Cold plates with open steak sandwich wasn't good at all. Capsicum mayonnaise was quite bland needs some heat little paprika cayenne pepper. But management is very friendly good service. Dessert I highly recommend a better quality vanilla ice it tasted like cheap Coles ice-cream.

I ordered three large breakfasts, one of the workers brought my breakfast to the table, and inside one of the plates, I found a hair that really turned my appetite off and ruined my hunger, and seeing that hair, I couldn't eat the rest of my breakfast. In the end, my bill amounted to $120, and they even charged me $1 extra for a spicy sauce that I had ordered.really disappointed

Extremely poor service. It took over an hour to get our food, and people who ordered much later than us got their food. The manager was also pretty abrupt in his style of communication.

Worst experience!!! Just had Mother's Day lunch & honestly what a waste of money!! The chicken scallopini was cut so thick and drenched in uncooked cream accompanied by the driest risotto ever!! Kids parmigiana was overcooked, chips cold - drink order was taken wrong too. Just not worth it at all.

Great portion size meals at reasonable prices. Service was nearly non existent though which was pretty disappointing. Had to ask for plates to eat out food off and when ask for plates the waiter just placed a pile of plates in the middle of the table. Other than the lack of Service the meals were very good.

Went in yesterday and ordered poached eggs and mushrooms. The mushrooms were cold (but they provided fresh ones), the eggs were poached ok, but watery. When I went to pay the bill I was charged $2 for the piece of toast for my poached eggs. Unimpressed.

Usually our go to place for breakfast/lunch if we decide to go out. The service dropped off for a while but seems to have picked up again over the last year. The only time we've been turned away with no table was mother's day but that's our fault for not booking Large portions and reasonable cost.

Amazing place. Big servings. Although they closed at 9, they let us stay back to celebrate our Mothers birthday which was very special. Thank you for doing this. End of year, we know people want to go home as soon as they finish, but they still opened for us. This means a lot to us. Great service.

Very disappointing meal I’ve ever had. Took my elderly mum out for dinner for New Year eve & had my usually liked chicken, spinach & beetroot salad but enquired if mine can be with lamb, the waiter came back & advised sure but an extra $7

For a reasonably priced Cafe this place is perfect. A family run business that has the feel of a cosy Italian home. The waiters are so friendly and the food is fabulous, fresh and fast to you. I have not had a bad experience in this Cafe

Friendly staff greet upon arrival. The calamari taste fresh and generous fries. The Rib Eye and Porterhouse were not well cooked (ordered medium rare) and the Parma seems drive. Great coffee.
