"This museum is cute and just big enough to do in an afternoon stroll or to take your child and learn to appreciate art worth just enough people and a grassy run around to later release the energy"
"I would have enjoyed this exhibit more without little kids with me "

This museum is cute and just big enough to do in an afternoon stroll or to take your child and learn to appreciate art worth just enough people and a grassy run around to later release the energy. They also had a yoga class not part of the museum but it was going on when we arrived. What a great way to start your day! We made reservations for a Thursday tour and we walked right in and it was free! I have a greater appreciation for Thursday’s because modern museums are free Thursday’s and having a homeschooled child makes planning her well that much easier.

I would have enjoyed this exhibit more without little kids with me ... but the whole reason I went was for their benefit and they had to hold my hand the whole time and they were not allowed to climb on anything, including the outdoor statues, which made it really hard for them to enjoy ... they did like the light exhibit... I'm grateful this is a free art exhibit... I don't recommend for kids under ten years old... This picture was the only one I took after I found out we also were not allowed to take photos The kids thought they aren't look like scribble scrabble l o l

Didn’t know this place existed until I was walking right by it! Lovely grounds. It’s free to visit after you check in. Photography isn’t allowed in the galleries, but that made it for more of a special experience. The collections are incredible and include a wide variety of art from different time periods from all around the world. I was lucky enough to visit while they were having a music performance in the lobby. Definitely a gem in Houston!

Jorge and Vera were the only nice people. Everyone else was absolutely rude. The staff needs better training on how to treat people. Just because we look young does not mean we are reckless. We have respect towards art, sadly, the staff does not have respect, rather prejudice. Some pieces are also full of dust and the glass protecting them has spider excrement and webs. Please fix this.

Absolutely one of my favorite places! I admit that I love a museum. But rarely have I found one I enjoyed as much as this one and without spending a single penny! Yes... free! It will take days to see everything. Even better, right? A wonderful collection of items. And staff that is knowledge and nice. You will enjoy yourself here. Wear comfortable shoes.

An absolute must visit in Houston! Free everyday, multiple buildings (collections) They have a Pollock and a Picasso! Parks nearby for picnics and dog friendly (in nearby parks), no flash photography! Leave your phone on silent! Best way to experience, always has different art, always love to see different art installations

Always a great experience. Love this free museum. A great opportunity for everyone to enjoy a part of history with the changing art & exhibits. The entire area is beautiful, from the museum, the park, bookstore & bistro. One could easily spend an afternoon just exploring & relaxing.

The collection here is wonderful and definitely worth multiple visits. I was a little worn-out by the end of a few exhibits in the main gallery but that was by no fault of the museum or the curator. Walking around the premises is very pleasant and the staff was nice and patient.

Wish I could give it zero stars. Although it was cool to witness pieces of history and cultures through time, the staff members ruined the visit. Extremely overbearing and rude people. "Hurry up and be quick" is what we were told although there was 30 minutes before closing. It makes sense why it's free. More
My absolute favorite space in Houston. I’m mostly fascinated by the architecture and the tranquility of its atmosphere. It’s so well managed and maintained I cannot believe it’s for free. Make sure you visit all the buildings and take a walk around it’s a beautiful neighborhood More
Great art collection and it's free to get in, parking was easy to find, clean restrooms ✌️ the surrounding area is really nice too

The art was beautiful ! I the only thing wrong was the lady with the red braids in the African exhibit, she was super rude and condescending, and just had a disgusting attitude…. Wasn’t nice at all , her presence was super uncomfortable and
Wish I could give this place 5 stars. Loved the collection and the space is beautiful. However you are constantly hounded for "pointing" (not touching). Happened twice but the last man to do it didn't just politely say to not point, no he
This was a very pleasant surprise. We intended to spend an hour or two with this museum snd instead spent most of the day including having lunch at the Menil Bistro. The Collection is housed in several buildings each thematic in content.
Felt like the lady at the front desk was practically yelling at us when we entered, and that should have been the red flag to leave. The security guards were very rude to both me and my mom, despite the "rules" they were enforcing being
Most Houstonians who are in the mood for a museum experience will make their way to the Houston Museum District. There are, of course, lots of great museums in this district but there is another museum perfect for lovers of art that is
If you want to be followed around and treated like a criminal the whole time, come here… they scolded my family for no reason multiple times. One lady literally RAN as fast as she could from the other side of the room to tell my mom to
Really nice museum with a varied collection. Short and sweet, definitely recommend for a quick afternoon activity. Watch out for the rude security guards who yell at you if you take more than one photo! More
Absolutely loved the place, and it’s also free admission any day of the week.
