It's great, I remember when the owners bought it, and NO one had been above the 2nd floor, since I think they said WWI or WWII, but when they got to the third floor it was extremely freaky. Everything was just left as is, like a time capsule. The area, I think she told me, had been used as a sailors' home, and she remembered it distinctly, and described one chair with some sort of table that still had the person's periodical open to the page that they were reading, along with their coffee/tea cup and saucer, left as is with only dust mites. Gosh, I wanted to go up there so very much to see all of it for myself and she gave me permission, but I had a bum leg, and didn't want to get hurt . Kinda, regret it now, but they have photos of it all for guests. Great place!

It wasn't bad. We stopped here after pride because we were hot and needed something to drink. We wanted to get out of the sun and this seemed to be the best option. Their coffee was pretty good, although I was a little sad because I wasn't able to really find any sugar to add to my coffee or syrup. I know a lot of people like their coffee bitter or black but I'm not one of those people lol. I think the coffee shop is a part of a hotel. It feels that way too with random guests or people coming in to go to the other desk area? We sat here for quite a while though and had a pretty good time talking with each other. It was a really quiet and fairly relaxing spot. None of the staff bothered us or asked us to leave when we only got one drink each which was really nice of them. Not a bad place to duck into to get out of the sun. My only real complaint was not being able to find a way to sweeten up my coffee for my sweet tooth lol

Very cute and cozy café in the bottom of The Society Hotel. I ordered an egg and cheese breakfast sandwich on sourdough and it was delicious! They also have assorted pastries from local bakeries. I took some apricot oat bars and cookies to a work meeting and they were amazing. The café itself is small and cozy but beautiful. There is a large grand fireplace with sofas around it, and little window alcoves with benches and chairs, as well. There are plenty of plugs for your devices and it's pretty quiet inside for working. They had soft music playing while I was there which was not distracting or overly loud for working. For being in a rather transient part of downtown, it still felt safe and clean. Great place to work from if you need to be downtown for any reason.

This place is located in the most unkempt part of town. There are literally tents set up on every street here as “Keep It Weird” in Portland means “Don’t try to improve the lot of anyone”, “Keep them in squalor and misery and pat yourself on the back that you are enlightened because you accept people living their lives in such an abusive situation”. There are at least as many Teslas in Portland as there are poverty stricken people wasting their lives away in this cafe’s district. I don’t know if the cafe is any good or not (I could not get the 1800s parking machine to accept my $8 for 2 hour parking fee after three attempts). But it is definitely not in a good location. There is something rather sclerotic about abject hopeless poverty and $2 an hour parking privileges. I won’t be giving this place another attempt and look elsewhere for my $4.50 latte.

Cute cafe located inside a hotel. Absolutely loved the decor inside, even the cowbell doorfob for the washroom was unique! They have both non alcoholic and alcoholic drink options. I opted for a almond roca flavored oat milk latte while my bf had a buttered rum drip coffee. Both super yummy. I also had the breakfast sandwich which was very simple but you can tell the ingredients were fresh. Note that it does not come with any meat, its just a fried egg, some cheese, and sour dough bread. But it's a clean breakfast option that does not make you feel like dying after. All of the staff members were kind, including the ones at the hotel lobby desk!

HOLY MOLY YOU WIN!! Took forever to find a open coffee shop and was it worth the wait!! Oh boy this place is also a motel and it has a roof top area to take coffe or food and the staff are just so kind and we went for coffee we left with reservations for the motel for New Years as this place is so classy and you wouldn’t even know it!! That’s what I love and that plant wall is mind blowing it’s what sold me and thanks for what you have here!! Also the bathrooms are clean and that makes a difference as I think you can judge the place by how they keep their bathrooms!! If they don’t clean the bathroom good they most likely don’t clean anything well!! But this place passes with flying colors!!

After about 40 min and see how people comes and goes with their orders and food I asked about mine and they forgot it. They apologize and offered me something from bakery. Service it's actually attentive but their organization leave A LOT OF ROOM FOR IMPROVEMENT. At the end the food was delivered but it wasn't what I ordered neither, ordered avocado toast with scrambled eggs and turkey and there was no avocado at all. Coffee was good and the atmosphere it's cozy in the lobby of a remodeled Hotel.

Always a great time here. Hotel staff is too notch and the place has made many improvements over the years to the atmosphere and decorum. Best deal is to buy something from the cafe (don't forget to tip) and you will be allowed access to their rooftop seating which is dope. Make sure to take the stair case down :)

Was suggested that the hazelnut pairs well with matcha after asking if the rosemary syrup would work. It’s a little sweet, but delicious. $6.50. I also appreciate that there’s not only a door that requires you to wait to be buzzed in, but that they’re attentive with it. I should have asked, but I don’t think that there’s dine in tableware. All drinks seem to arrive in plastic. The indoor is very nice. Not too hot or cold with cute little nooks.

One of the best sandwiches I've ever had. The evening barista, Max, is very cool and great at conversation and recommendations. The lobby is nice and cozy, but if the weather is right, you can't beat a meal in the rooftop deck overlooking downtown.

Don’t steal one of my favorite spots! You can perch up right in the middle of Old Town and you never know what you’ll see: tourists, female impersonators, Asian American heritage, poverty, drugs, food, donuts, and so much more. The cafe has a dark forest theme and also plays lobby to the hotel and hostel. Good people are behind the flow and vibe here, so leave your bad vibes at the door please haha! Rooftop deck is also low key here, so don’t come here looking to be waited on. It’s relaxed and I hope it stays that way!

This quaint bistro is located in the lobby of the Society Hotel. The green velvet couches near the fireplace are a comforting touch. We had their tasty avocado toast and a breakfast sandwich with a delicious cup of coffee. Not sure what to do while you're in Portland? The place is super chill with a very queer friendly environment and staff. there's not much of a choice for solids from what I saw later at night but their selection of drinks is pretty good and super yummy. Definitely ask for the roof place to hang out after ordering, it's super nice and chill as well.

Very chill vibe, decor is fabulous. A gem in old town Portland. Coffee tasted great and the staff was so sweet and helpful. We went up to the rooftop to drink our coffee and saw some great views of the city. I also brought my small dog in her carrying purse and no one seemed to mind, they greeted her and were very nice. Definitely recommend!

Coffee & Tea are two products which everybody from their own perspective like and it has its presence in are daily routine life. The staff is friendly and really know their coffee. Desserts available here are true to the name. Interior adds extra beauty to its following as Warm-colored lamps are placed around which enhance the beauty hidden in this place. Thus place is entirely a clean arena which brings you a feel of true essence while keeping number of things around.

Loved that the cafe is right in the hotel. Loved the coffee and pastries they have to offer and often found myself going there for the time I was staying for a drink and snack. Also a big shoutout to Max for making one of his specialty cocktails and being an around nice guy. He’s a gem!

This is hands down the coolest place I have visited in Portland since living here. The vibes are so right. The aesthetic is stunning. Staff is super friendly and knowledgeable about the property's history and they gave really good beverage and food recommendations. I've had my eye on this place for about 3 years to visit before I moved up here and I finally made my way down and it did not disappoint.

  • ranim yousef

This is one of the best coffee shops in Portland! I like that it’s open late until 10pm unlike many other coffee places. Their coffee is of great quality and taste. The staff is really friendly and welcoming. The cafe’s doors are locked and only open from the inside or if the staff let you in. This adds a feeling of safety especially for a place in Portland. I appreciate the locked doors a lot!

  • Michael Ferguson

I came here a second time and it took them 35 mins to make a saled! Otherwise on my first visit, I had a nice iced mocha in cute setting. Good light food options as well. You can stay in the ground level cafe area next to the hotel check-in desk, or request to go to the rooftop deck. It was nice and relaxing up there. Wasn't crowded when I went but it is slightly small.

  • ANR

Went for a morning coffee in the old China town district. The Cafe is located in the Society Hotel. The location has an old world charm with a very friendly staff. We had our coffee in the roof top, a nice cozy setting that has good views around. The coffee was very good. The location was a little run down , if you ignore that a must visit place in Portland River front.

  • Austin Neves

Took me a while to find this place on google but I stopped in some months ago and I was caught off guard by how amazing the espresso was. I haven’t tried every coffee shop in Portland/Oregon but I can say out of every shop I’ve been to this was by far the best. The staff was very nice and very calm. The environment was very nice. Totally a great little shop.

This place is listed as a coffee shop but it has an actual food menu. It’s small but good. This half eaten (see picture) breakfast sandwich was much better than I expected. They used super good sourdough bread and Tillamook cheese. The rooftop is only available to people who buy food or drinks. It’s a nice, quiet place to enjoy the city.

Surprisingly good minimal breakfast; menu is small, no grill, but all the components were top notch, even or maybe especially the tasty apple wrapped on plastic in the cooler case. Looks like airport, tastes like farmers market. Coffee great (as expected in foodie PDX), bagel fresh with good crust. Just great.

Great little coffee shop plus other kinds of drinks , nice little fire place or a rooftop to enjoy a drink . I love the room as well , this location has a hostel as well , good prices for bunk room , I got a private room with my own bathroom and we'll worth it . I will be returning for sure .

If you are looking for a quaint little coffee shop I think this is the place for you. The iced vanilla latte is lovely, the espresso is good. It’s a local Portland roaster. The cappuccino is strong, great flavor but man it’ll wake you up.

Lan Su Garden cafe teahouse was closed so they recommended us to this cafe. This is where I fell in love with matcha and chai lattes. Got addicted. Menu is simple. We didn't make it to the rooftop which was also recommended

  • Anthony Navarro

Great options and fast service! Even better is that their chai latte is more spicy than sweet, which seems really hard to find at most places. It is quiet enough for working, but I didn't see many outlets at the tables.

Exquisite ambiance to relax and enjoy a warm beverage. Roomy and open with air for the mind to think and the brain to breathe. Forgot to check out the rooftop patio, but am yearning already to be back and be a regular.
