Looking for somewhere to eat and this place came up in Google. Said it had pub fare with a twist so we decided to go on the adventure. It was around 8 pm and when we walked in it wasn't very busy and looked like an unassuming and old bar with some tables and bench seats and old furniture. A guy quickly came to ask if we would be eating, menus in hand. We said yes and took the menus which looked 10 times fancier than the place itself. Inside the menu there were lots of choices, from Cuban sandwhiches to salads to flatbread pizzas. The menu seemed to belong to a fancier restaurant and I hoped we weren't about to pay a lot of money for something that came out of a microwave. The beer and wine lists came on a small laminated sheet more like you would see at a sports bar. There were a lot of selections, but I didn't look past the first beer, which was an IPA because that was what I wanted to try. My compatriots ordered food, one a Cuban with fries, the other a steak and mushroom flat bread. My beer came first and it was in a glass and tasted great so I'm guessing it was from the tap. I got to try both of the food dishes and I again could not believe my tastebuds! Everything was delicious, down to the thick cut fries that were actually cut in an interesting shape that was reminiscent of a pig ear. The portions and the flavor made the price make sense and it made it all the more magical that it came out of a kitchen that was located ina place that just seemed like a local dive. A big thank you to google, our "waiter" and especially the cook! We will be back and I hope the experience is just as good!
Just get a drink... We ordered the Korean fried chicken strips (for my 11 yr old daughter), the pulled pork scramble and the breakfast burrito. The chicken strips were very overcooked and tasted like they had been cooked in old oil. My daughter ate one and didn't touch the rest. She said the fries were cold and should have been cooked last. She could tell that the fries had sat for a while. She said they would have been great if the weren't cold. My scramble was just not good. Eggs were overcooked, had no cheese and the pulled pork was old. I picked through the eggs and left the cold fries and burnt texas toast. My wife's breakfast burrito was missing salsa and sour cream. She ate a few bites before giving up. The eggs were also overcooked. The place was fairly empty except for a few people drinking and watching college football. So the kitchen was not busy, just a lack of care for the food. The bartender was great. Response to owner: I'll check back in and see how it goes. If it's a better experience, I will gladly delete this post.
We come here occasionally for beers or for the Sunday blueplates but recently ordered from their main menu. On a Friday night (for takeout, given the times), we called ahead to order the Chicken Fried Ribeye, Fish and Chips, seasoned veggies, gouda mac and cheese, fried cheese curds, and cobb salad. It was all DELICIOUS. The portions were generous - each entree was more than either of us could finish. The fish was amazing - flaky, great batter with a great house tartar sauce. I really loved the vinaigrette with the cobb, and both dipping sauces with the fried cheese curds (mariana, ranch). Only thing I was 'meh' on was the jalapeño gravy with the ribeye. And next time, I would double the fried cheese curds order They made takeout super easy. We could stay in the car, and the guy who brought our food was really helpful and pleasant. Looking forward to ordering again! Update: we've ordered from them 2 more times during the pandemic and have been disappointed. I lowered my review from 5 to 4 stars.
Tue, Sept 19, 7pm We had heard so many good things about the food here, so we decided to give it a try. While we did manage to get one drink order in, we had to go around to the other aide of the bar to ask if we could order food. We started with the poutine, which was a huge bowl of gloppy potato wedges, drowned in gravy and chewy, stringy cheese. It was disgusting. My wife ordered the grilled chicken sandwich and I got the bacon blue cheese burger. Both were equally disgusting. Especially the chicken. We barely picked at the food and then set it aside. Nobody asked if we liked the food, or why we didn't eat much of it, nor did they ask if we wanted anything else (perhaps a 2nd drink?). We live close by and we really want to like the place, but I'm certain that we won't be back again, even to drink a beer.

My husband and I were going to Dairiette and it was closed. In passing we saw Whistling Pig. I was expecting Dairy Queen vibes and was totally wrong. Wow! Loved the dive atmosphere. So many dive types have been torn down for CVS or other unwanted places. The food and staff were perfect. It wasn't busy on a Sunday afternoon but still felt very taken care of. We had burgers and tots. I couldn't stop saying "yum" with every bite. I had the chili cheese burger. It had outstanding charbroiled flavor and the best chili. My husband had the bacon blue cheese burger. Everything tasted so good! We paid note to all the specials during the week so we can come back. Can't wait to try more off the menu if we can not let those delicious burgers influence us first! Don't try it. Save it for us!!!! 5 stars..
Place is clean. A couple of songs I queued started to play and were cancelled by the bartender I believe. The volume was greatly reduced. No respect for the late Jimmy Buffet. Money wasted. Had the whistling pig sandwich. It lacked significant flavor. Was planning to drink and play pool but was closed out early. To be specific, the check was brought to the table, wasn’t requested, and no inquiry as to if we wanted anything else. Definitely did not have a welcoming friendly vibe. Sat at a different table for over an hour with no drink requests by any bartender. Maybe this bar doesn’t need any more business. Just the feeling that I get.

I love this place! It’s close to home and we go all the time. The service is always great, even if it’s a little slow sometimes but that’s just because they’re busy. Everyone is so friendly. Great drink and food specials and jukebox! The food is amazing. Not at all what you’d expect from a bar, everything is top quality. Those fries… so addictive! They have $7.50 blue plate specials on Sundays too. I’ve never had a bad experience here. My favorite bar! Always tons of parking available, and a patio in the front and back. Don’t sleep on this place!

Terrible experience here. We went here just to go somewhere different but ended up leaving after 1 beer. I asked what they have available, and the response was, "we have a lot of beers". Well, geez, that's helpful. Whatever. Anyways,we asked for a menu and wanted to order some food, but no one would take our order. After about 15 minutes of trying to get someone's attention, we finally decided to go somewhere else. Then it took another 10 minutes to get someone's attention to get our bill. And I need to add that there were only about 5 or 6 people in there, so they were not busy. If you just want a Bud Lite and nothing more, go for it. But if you want more, go somewhere else.
Needs friendlier service from the bar. The food is delicious but the bartender Dillan is rude. I go often for the food and tip him huge amounts just to be nice to me. He ignores me, usually other people have to get his attention for me, or the other bartender will have to tell him that I would like a drink. He is friendly to others so he has the ability to be courteous. Last night I asked may I please have some hot sauce. For no reason he says yes really mean and went outside and never brought it. Ryan is nice but Dillan acts like I disgust him even with me trying to be overly nice to him. F. O. E. is another great option and they are friendly there
Me and my partner came in for brunch! Looks like it would be small judging by the exterior. Interior is so spacious. My girlfriend ordered an breakfast burrito. Said it was the best she ever had!! I got the pork belly sliders. Nom Nom!! Also exceptional service. Food was out of this world. They were very attentive to our needs. Owner spoke with us for a good while and checked on us numerous times. Only negative thing I have to say is there were too many menu items that sounded delicious; so it was hard to make a decision. Ill be back and trying it all! Glad my friends recommend this place.
OMG!! Hubby and I stopped in for food and a beverage after a 12 hr drive. Dylan was our bartender and knocked it out of the park!! We ordered the chipotle mussels which were amazing; Chipotle's and mussles in a rue with carrots and celery and onions and garlic!! the Cuban sandwich was great!! Lauren sold us a bottle of wine so we didn't have to make anymore stops!! This was an unexpected 100% Tay and Dillon in the kitchen know what's up! Thank you Whistling Pig, much respect and praise form The Mills, New Mexico

BOMB AF Staff and Food! They are always welcoming, accommodating, and in good spirits! The fries are the best around and it’s my go to burger place. Even for take out! Food is perfectly cooked and they are happy for your patronage instead of making you feel like a burden when eating in or ordering delivery. Hands down my one of my fav places.

So , A group of four went to have some drinks and dinner at the whistling pig. We entered and we’re not greeted, we sat at a table for 15 minutes . No one came over, the bartender saw us sitting there and didn’t acknowledge us. We walked up to the bar and we asked her if you get a waitress she said someone would be right with you. 20 minutes later we’re still waiting nobody showed up we got up and we left and the waitress looked at us like we’re crazy. Not an apology or anything let me tell you this place really sucks! J
Lower rating only because there was just one super dude forced to be bartender, wait staff and maintenance. Food was quite good for a pub and reasonably priced. The French dip sandwich was real tasty. The chicken pesto pasta bowl also tasty and plentiful. A might cold. It was a Saturday about 3 in the afternoon. At least one more employee would of been appreciated by customers and the lone super dude. Overall nice place.

This is a REAL neighborhood bar (think Cheers). The bar is eclectic, decorated with lots of pigs (cute, right), its dark and reminds me of the old days we could smoke and play pool in a bar. (But you have to smoke outside on the front or back patio!) Perfect. Oh and the food. The food is AMAZING. I had a burger and it was juicy and delicious and amazing. I had the desert that was on special and just about died of happiness in my mouth. I HIGHLY reccomend this place.
I'm so happy places like this still exist. They serve food late, burger and fries are under $10, and on Thursday, beers were $5. Ended up chatting with my neighbors and the bartender. Burger and fries were very good. I'll definitely be back.

Not sure how the food tastes because no one ever greeted me or acknowledged I was there. I walked in and stood for a few minutes in what looks like an area to wait to be seated. Several people in eyeshot behind the bar. Got tired of standing there so I sat at a table. Seven minutes later I'm walking out. No one greeted me or cared that I was there. Oh well...

WhIle the food menu has improved, cold food is still unacceptable. Thank you for making my guest wait for an additional 20 minutes and still served food that looked like it has set in the window (after it was returned for being cold) and then still charging full price. I left a note with my server but he decided to throw that away so I decided to make sure you got my feedback. Nice bar for drinks... don't expect anything from the food side.
Food was good .... the restaurant was busy and there were 2 staff members. Long wait for drinks, food missing and no last call on food or drink.. Patrons got into a song war - one group playing very filthy w extremely inappropriate (even in an adult setting) music w speaking not lyrics and the other trying to turn it around w classic rock and classic country. This experience could have been much better. This place will not be too of mind.
The food was disgusting, just everything was horrible, the burger the chicken fried steak, green beans, yuck! The Gouda Mac and cheese was the nastiest, yikes! Nothing had any seasoning just a huge waste of money. The kick back might be cool but don’t buy the food. The lady at the bar was very nice though. I give less than one star, but the review doesn’t give that as an option.. count your fking days Whistling pig.. Gross
Second to none in the DFW area for a relaxed atmosphere and *fantastic food/drink*. It's what more gastropubs should aspire to be like. I come here as often as my schedule allows. The back patio area is under a remodel. The deck will never be as spacious as before (some City building codes being enforced I believe)...but I found the smoking area comfortable and they are working to make the best of a new arrangement.
This restaurant is a great experience and the food is exquisite and keeps getting better. I personally recommend the Chicken Parmesan. Additionally the music over the radio I also consider nice and fresh to the overall atmosphere of the place.

Don’t let the location scare you. You’ll find it next to a vape and a tattoo shop hit it’s a hidden treasure. The food was fresh and yummy. They have a garden they source some of their food from and they take a lot of pride in their menu. We tried the French onion soup, blue cheese bacon burger, beer battered cheese curds, and spinach artichoke dip. Warning, the burgers are large and the chips are a bit spicy.
Great little spot if you're looking for a somewhat dive bar/ish experience without the dive bar. Friendly faces behind the bar and great food. I recommend the fish n chips (the portion is big enough for two) I wish they had plain old tartar sauce but that is my only complaint. Drinks are stout and they have great local beers on tap as well as the regular swill. Do yourself a favor and stop by it's worth it.
Just ate here on 12/18. It's in a strip mall and the setting isn't the best. We were a bit skeptical before heading in. However, the food was amazing and the staff was great! Our group order ranged from the cheese steak to a prime rib and we were still talking about the food the next day! Ignore the outside impression and head inside. Very friendly dive bar/pub atmosphere. Will definitely be returning
Sat at the bar for 10 mins.+ and not greeted once by a single employee, so we left. Maybe 10 patrons total in the entire restaurant. We live around the corner within walking distance of this restaurant. It’s a neighborhood place and should be friendly to its neighbors. Apparently if Jeff isn’t there hosting, then this place doesn’t know how to host. Multiple other options nearby, we’ll utilize them.
It's a nice local place. Not too many people. The jukebox is pretty much all country and rock which is ok but it's kind of off putting off you enjoy other types of music when it having a good time. The bartenders are on but they don't pay attention to everyone, mainly men and locals that they know. The food is good with a decent price. The drinks are really weak.
I got one blue moon drink but got charged for 2 Then the female bartender made a point to embarrass me and say out loud so everyone could here that I didn't tip for some whiskey drinks but I had only been drinking beer the whole night so I was confused Idk what's going on here It's good for a cheap drink but just be careful

Came for a non profit event with a friend, live in the hood so love supporting local! This is a great spot for chillaxing with a pal. Food always gets nice reviews from patrons (especially the O rings!) My only issue was bartender didn't make his way around the bar often or fast enough to acknowledge customers and needs. He did ok not great maybe next time

Just moved to the neighborhood, and had to try this place. The fries are GREAT!!!!! Staff was very friendly, even the patrons were nice. The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 was the burger I ordered. The burger was ok, the meat was dry & not much seasoning. Had the meat been better, the burger would have been AMAZING!!!! I will try again though.
Stopped in for a beer prior to going to the Fraternal Order of Eagles right down the road. Great mix of people on a Sunday afternoon; however, serving a beer in a warm glass is never a good look and it was about 84 degrees in the bar. Over all, if I were closer, I'd give them one more shot as I could definitely see this being a local favorite spot.
This has been my regular pub for a while now and I never leave unhappy. The service is amazing!! Never left wanting for anything and the food and drinks areally second to none. My only regrey is that I never came in sooner. Best of all, it's five minutes down the road. If you want the beat of what the locals get, this is the place to be.
I have found my neighborhood bar!! I absolutely love this place, small pub that you would never know is there unless you're from the area. I am going to start coming here more often, love the fact that this place has just about everything that you wanna do, pool tables, jukebox, good food and drinks and even a front and rear patio!
On a recent visit, my wife and I were totally ignored. They often only have 1 waitress to take care of the entire bar and all the tables. I was standing at the bar for several minutes as other customers were waited on. It was as if I was invisible. When there are 2 or more waitresses, it is a little better.
In dalla for one night, always look for local bars, this place is awesome, great food and beer. All good here,

This is EXACTLY what the neighborhood needed! A local pub with good fare, a relaxed atmosphere, GREAT bartenders and fun, sociable cooks, and pool tables for some fun. I probably would enjoy a few more dark beers and some northwest US beers, but this is a great start! Thanks, Shawn for giving us a home!!!
Love Love Love this place, Chris, Bethany, Josh the whole team is great. wonderful place to have happy hour and awesome food to share. It's like Cheers, everyone knows your name and they are happy you came. They truly care about their customers and their service shows it!!! Keep up the great work!!!!
Local neighborhood pub. Typical pub food no nothing special. I had the burger with fries and it was okay, nothing special. Not many TV's and they keep the music volume too low so it's kind of boring and not a sports friendly place. They do have two pool tables and a cigarette machine.
What I would personally qualify as a neighborhood dive bar, this place is larger than it looks, has great food and a slew of regular customers that banter with the personnel there. Definitely a great place to chill out, play some pool, stuff your face and/or have a drink.
Great Guinness and amazing Bloody Marys. The food is as good as any gastropub in London and the staff very friendly and accommodating. I had the jalapeño burger with half and half fries and Texas toothpicks. Ridiculously good. So grateful it's practically on my back door.
Edit 9/7/23 nfl season starting and the place is so understaffed and dirty, walked in, waited and left. Seems like it gets worse each time we go. This place really needs a revamp soon it's just getting so dirty. The service and food are good but the atmosphere is rough

The food and service are great. Environment is very good. Top notch. Also worthy to note that the Far east Dallas area doesn't have much. We are lucky to have a dive like this in our neighborhood. I suggest we all continue to support our own neighborhood joints.
I’ve wanted to try this place for a long time and now that I have... oh my! This is definitely a hidden gem! Food is AMAZING. Service OUTSTANDING. Prices completely fair; in fact probably lower than they could be. I can’t say enough! Just try it and you’ll see.
I’m sure it’s good, but you call to place a pickup order and they leave you on hold for you to listen to the bartender shooting the breeze with coworkers for about ten to fifteen minutes until you realize they’ve forgotten you’re there so you just hang up.

Really nice decor on the inside with reasonably priced drinks and friendly bartenders. I stopped in for a beverage while waiting on some friends to show up down the street. Very glad I did. I just wish it was closer to me so I could frequent it!
I REALLY want to like this place more than I do: they have some decent beer options and the servers are always nice, but the food has been subpar on both of my dinner visits and it seems to be empty unless it's a Friday or Saturday night.
Looks like a quiet little dive bar but you want to come for dinner also.. the menu is impressive and the food is delicious! 2 pool tables, 2 patios and a jukebox, my only negative is the small selection of drinks on tap.
I mostly go for brunch, and while you may wait a tad long for food sometimes, you'll never be disappointed. Always love the the people I meet here and you'll always leave looking forward to the next time you'll come.
Wow...I wish it were more convenient to my home. What a delightful experience it was. Fabulous food, excellent tap beer choices, friendly employees and bar regulars. I would go every week if it were more convenient.
I had chicken Quesada, they were ok. Could have been better for the price. The cupcake chardonnay was very good. And for dessert, Raspberry Lemonade Cake. Oooohhh my goodness, it is a must try. I will be returning.

Nice little neighborhood bar. It's usually not too loud if you are a fan of understanding what your friends are saying. Pool tables, jukebox and a live band from time to time. Their fries are awesome too.
Worst experience ever. Do not spend your time or money at this place. I'm just a person trying to have a good time and they kicked me out. Do not ever go to this place. Bar tender is very disrespectful.
It was really early evening so it was not crowded. I made a trip to the post office and when finished had a few beers. I'd like to see it filled with people, if I do go when populated I'll let ya know.
Great atmosphere, Great drinks, the food is amazing the spicy chicken Parmesan chefs kiss every time never fails, not to many chefs that can execute every meal the one at the whistling pig sure can!!!
Great lil place to enjoy yaself and family but my biggest surprise of the whole thing was the cooks in there food was great and they came to check up on us can’t find to many chefs to do such things
Staff, food, oriented, and even customers were friendly. The food was awesome I was in disbelief coming from a Pub bar. I hope this spot continues with good customer service and good food. ☆☆☆☆ ~MB
This restaurant just gave me life!!! Try the Gouda Mac-N-Cheese with Tomato Basil soup!! It melts in your mouth and not in your hands!! Issac was a very attentive server!! Definitely will be back!!
Well, we were not too sure about it when we rolled up. But after spending the evening with the staff and patrons, we found the Whistling Pig to be a very cool place to hang out. We will be back!
First time to The Whistling Pig Neighborhood Bar... Awesome place! Andrew was professional, polite, and very knowledgeable about curtain beers and makes amazing shots! I'll be visiting again...
Service was a bit slow because our gal was slammed, but the food was delicious. Great beer selection on tap. Nice neighborhood dive. This place is why East Dallas is the best Dallas.
This place serves amazing food and fries along with this sort awesome vibe and well made cocktails. Highly recommend. Will come back again. Burgers are large and cooked just right
This food is fresh and flavorful! Man those muscles are on point and spicy. I thoroughly enjoyed my first visit. I'll be back to try mote of the menu. This, place is DDD worthy.

Great drinks w/wide variety of selections. Not to mention the Foods are very Good ,not your normal choices..Laid back setting...Great group of people working There.
It's a pub. It is in my neighborhood. They have poutine and wings. And Velvet Hammer. And the staff is friendly and welcoming. So wander in and pull up a barstool.
Isaac was a great bartender, and he made my experience special . Great service, the Chef makes tasty dishes, and the other bartenders know to mix! Check them out!

Great happy hour and open late. Good variety of food. We love the wings. They just added new menu items which are great. I LOVED the garlic herb fries.

Neat spot with great atmosphere. If you are into Texas beer, you will especially like it. They have a good drink selection and great food as well.
Only a few places around DFW offer this same sort of authentic pub atmosphere with top-notch foodie grub. If you haven't been, you're missing out.
Great vibes, the only bad thing about it.. is that they always have these old school songs playing lol… luckily you can pay to change the music.
Food went straight down hill. They completely messed up an order, which happens. Tried the food again two more times. Won't be doing that again.

I had the Mushroom 6-oz skirt steak - absolutely awesome! Cooked perfectly and our waitress/bartender was great! No complaints AT all!!!
Great food options with very good prices!! Jeff the bartender is a pleasantry . $5 bucks for fench onion soup is amazing and delicious!
FOOD IS AMAZING… SHOUT OUT TO THE CHEF… WILL DEFINITELY BE RETURNING TO TRY OUT OTHER ITEMS ON THE MENU… SOME OF THE BEST FOOD IVE HAD…
