My wife and I ate lunch here the other day. I'd been here before but not in a few years. It was slow, only one other table but the bar had people filling most of the bar seats. The waitress came and sat us, took our order. When the food arrived it looked delicious and I rather enjoyed my fish tacos with lime. The fish was fresh and nicely coated in this light and flaky batter. My wife ordered the fish fry which came with the same piece of fish with tartar sauce on the side and a pile of fries and a side but no lime. The fries were okay but they were mostly small nubs and ends which weren't great. The Mexican rice was a little dry and lacked flavour to me but she said she liked it and that it was the best part of her dish. She said the fish was slightly overcooked (I tried a small bite and it seemed okay to me) only came with the one piece but because it was $4 more than the fish tacos we thought it might come with a second piece but it didn't. When we asked the waitress for a lime she said okay but never returned to the table until we were finished so my wife had to try to squeeze the life out of the 3 pieces I had already used to not much success which compounded the disappointment of her dish. Overall it's not great value for the money. $22 for a single small fish and pile of fries and some rice isn't much of a bargain but the $18 fish tacos are better value and flavour. If I was with a group of people who wanted to eat here I probably would, but it wouldn't be something that my wife and I will come to again most likely.

This is not a wheelchair accessible establishment, the washrooms are down a flight of stairs and down a narrow hall so there's no way of getting a wheelchair down there.

Thirsty cactus has always been a go to for fun munchies and finger foods. My last visit there was unfortunately, very disappointing. They’ve changed the Bang Bang shrimp to be pan fried instead of panko crusted. The serving came in a small dish with no fixings, in the past they always had cabbage and crispy greens to accompany the shrimp. Also got brussel sprouts tacos, which to my disbelief have cherizo in them?! They’re not veg friendly, and that’s disappointing as all the other taco options are meat heavy. I will still return to Thirsty, but will have to experiment with the items more as these were usually my go to!

Vegetarian options
Double check EVERYTHING if there is meat in them. Even the classically vegetarian dishes have meat!

The Caesars were super delicious and spicy. The nachos were decent, but lacked in flavour because they didn't have olives, which is our favourite topping on nachos. We paid for extra cheese, which made us wonder how little cheese they would have put on them otherwise since we were still disappointed in how little cheese there was on them. The Churros were a little too crispy, but in a dry and overcooked way. The cinnamon sugar mix was nice though. They were served with dark chocolate sauce that was a little too bitter. They would have paired nicely with a caramel sauce instead. Despite getting off to a super bad start that almost made us leave, our server was incredible!!

Stopped in for a quick beer and some wings. Visited here years ago and loved the home brewed beer. As remembered the home brew was excellent, I highly recommend stopping in just for that. The chicken wings are huge, well breaded and perfectly cooked. I got jerk chicken flavor which wasn't my favorite it was very salty and didn't quite taste like jerk. Aside from the sauce being not the greatest everything else hit 5 stars. It's a shame to deliver such amazing quality wing with a not so thought out sauce. No harm though next time I will just try a different flavor. Definitely on my hit list if I'm in the area.

OMG !! A secret gem in the city. If you haven’t tried Thirsty Cactus and have a love for Mex food and even better service this is your go to. They have daily drink specials and and amazing week rounded menu. I usually get the Cajun pasta and my daughter gets a simple burger, but we decided to switch it up. I tried the house soup, which changes daily it was amazing. I had the brisket skillet , chicken quesadilla and enchiladas. 5/5 across the board. Well seasoned hot to order. Very recommended, bring your family or just to have drinks and appetizers. The lady on the phone when I called did have an attitude, but I’ll assume they were busy. I will definitely go again !!

First time eating at the Thirsty Cactus. There were 8 of us. The waitress was polite, friendly, and competent. I liked the ambiance and décor. The tables are rugged and the chairs are sturdy/heavy. The prices are reasonable, my food was good. I appreciate that we weren't charged an automatic gratuity for having X number of people in our party. I also really appreciated the payment process. It doesn't prompt you to tip certain %'s, you enter the % manually. Little things like this matter, and I notice. I will be back.

Family-friendly atmosphere, good service despite being busy. Bang-bang shrimp appetizer was drowning in the sauce for my taste, and the shrimp were on the small side. The wings were decent but not as plump as they used to be pre-Covid, making them "average". Wing sauce was tasty. I'll return, but sample other items next time.

Stopped in for apps and a beer with a friend. Service was quick and our server was friendly but atmosphere is pretty relaxed but spacing is a bit crowded. We shared the queso and enjoyed the restaurants home brew beer. Everyone I know in the area loves this place, excited come back and try more menu items!

There for Trivia. I liked the Bar. Has a 70 80s feel. Definitely not a franchise bar. I miss the 79s and 80s The staff is friendly and very competent. They make sure you're taken care of. Looking forward to winning Thursday at trivia. Hoping the sexy team is there

First timer - always wanted to try it finally got there. Ordered the cauliflower tacos they weren’t bad, I wish I took more time to read the menu probably would’ve selected something else. My brother got the burrito and had nothing but good things to say about it we also tried The queso dip - it was great too. I don’t remember our servers name but she was fast - super nice and helpful. Will return for sure maybe on the weekend next time.

Amazing food, beer, entertainment and service. We truly experienced a full 5 star restaurant. The portions are huge and very well priced. We dined in on a Saturday night and the place was packed. Make sure you make reservations ahead of time. We tried 4 different dishes off the menu and all of it was delicious and plenty to take home. We definitely will be back to try the other items on the menu.

The portions are massive, wow! The service was fantastic and even though we brought fries home, I was able to reheat them in an air fryer and they were just as good as the night before. Thr pulled pork was phenomenal, as were the dry rubbed wings. Great prices for what you get and our server was super friendly

Good food, friendly servers, nice atmosphere. Prepare to spend some time finding a parking spot if you’re going at a busy time. Tasty margaritas. Comfortable. I’ve been there twice and will return.

My wife and I enjoyed a spectacular meal here. The food is delicious! We enjoyed the Cajun catfish tacos and a burrito bowl. Our server was very friendly and regularly made sure we doing well. The atmosphere is fun and cosy. We shall definitely be back for more delicious catfish!

My first experience at the Thirsty Cactus, OUTSTANDING! We decided to order one dish each and share! What a great idea! The portions were plentiful! Nachos, chimicunga (deep fried - can't miss), so much food, I forgot what the other dish was! Live music didn't hurt the night out!
