Took a WV Vanagon in for an inspection, because I was considering purchasing it from the original owner. I wanted to know what was wrong with it and what might need fixing. He gave it a green light and said there were no major issues with the van, it was safe and good to go. Based on this information I purchased the van. I then took it to my regular VW shop because I noticed a strange sound when driving, and they proceeded to tell me there were a variety of issues with the van, and the tires are not rated to be on a van, one of the tires is separated making the van unsafe to drive. The AC regulator is leaking, and the motor mount is gone, also the batteries are dead and alternator probably has an issue. I have taken it to another shop just to confirm these issues and they confirmed them as well. Tony's Auto Service either never looked at it or straight out lied about the vans condition. I will never trust these people with my vehicle again.

Ladies or anyone looking for an honest mechanic.....you found the needle in the haystack. I have used Tony's for 20 plus years. They are priceless in the simple fact of how honest and trustworthy they are. So, if its simple fix you will be charged accordingly. It wont be a $2000 bill every time..wink wink... ; some hustlers out there may try to convince the mechanically blind (women, elderly and possibly new to Canada) that its a catastrophe every time you enter the premises. Tony's can do pretty much any car. I love picking my car up from them....the work is a smooth ride consistently. They are not just for the Calgary VW elitist.....even though they are well know among the cities VW fanatics.. no matter what car I drive...it has to go to them. No one else has earned the trust. That said...I am a big fan for 20plus years. Best in town...outside of warranty!!!

Years ago, I wanted to buy a Karmann Ghia. Price was decent, the car needed some TLC, so I asked Concept-1 who is the "to-go" guy in town to get older VW models checked and repaired. They pointed me to Tony's Auto Service. The Karmann turned out it needed more than just a wax and polish, so I never bought it on Paul's advice. Since then, I've had 3 of my cars serviced there. A 96 Golf CL, a 92 Passat (turned out the worse VW I've ever owned) and my current 2004 Jetta Wagon 1.8T. Paul always finds cheaper solutions (for older cars), goes above and beyond in service and advice (told me to check if I had a recall on my Jetta before booking me in - and a recall it was). I have since recommended Paul's shop to friends and they have now become loyal customer, just like me.

These guys are the most honest mechanics I've ever met. My wife and I have had several cars serviced here -- her old VW, our 2010 Rav, and now my 2006 Acura. I took the Acura in because there was a horrible, loud squealing noise coming from the engine area. I assumed the worst -- and I'm a totally clueless car owner. Had Tony's wanted to rip me off, it would've been easy. Instead, they diagnosed the issue, cleaned off a belt with a toothbrush... and didn't even charge me! That's right - $0, because "It didn't take me very long." I mean, what!? That's insanely good business practice. I would've gladly paid, and now, I'll gladly bring our cars there every single time they need ANYTHING. I can't tell you how much we appreciated them, or how much I recommend them.

A hidden gem, I’ve had a history with auto repairs. Land Rovers and V10’s. The thought of getting repairs usually brings forward thoughts of thousands of dollars flying out of my wallet and having a conversation with the person at the front desk that’s never changed a tire. My pregnant gf had a Jetta in dire need of a lot of work. They treated her the same as they treated me, nothing was hidden or explained as though we were just silly customers and they’re the experts. Trust is essential, and my new family will be riding in this car, having this ticked off my list of things to get prepared for a new baby. Is worth twice of what it actually cost me. They also have sick stickers, which we all know makes everything better. I’d rate them 10 out of 10

My mother who owns a '79 Beetle Convertible has been taking her vehicle here since we moved to Calgary 20 years ago. I bought my first car, an '84 Scirocco, about 1 year ago, and have been taking it here from day 1 on her recommendation. They're always pleasant to work with, very knowledgeable staff, Paul is great, Dale is great, everything about this shop is great. Work is done promptly as scheduled and at a fair price. I would not take my car anywhere else. I've recommended this shop to many people, and will continue to do so. If you own a VW, this is the place to go! (I also have recommended that a few of my friends with near-vintage Hondas go here as they like to work on non-VWs as well, they just happen to specialize in VW)

I rely on Tony's Auto for my automotive needs. I've used their service for over ten years. I find their service, expertise and professionalism astounding! The staff are genuine, friendly, kind, helpful and attentive. I had to bring my vehicle in for a quick fix that was not mechanical related, but needed 'shop' attention. The staff quickly fixed the issue and did not even charge me for their time. Although the fix was brief, the staff were kind to not charge me for their time. Tony's is trustworthy! I am convinced when I bring my vehicle to them, it is in good hands. I'm so thankful to found such a good place! Paul and Dale at tonys are the best. I've been using this shop for more than 10 years and have always had exceptional service. They are excellent at explaining all the repairs and letting me know what needs to be done versus what could be done, with quotes for both before doing anything. I always feel fully informed. To say the crew at Tony's are rockstars is an understatement. We just joined the Westy/Van Life community and couldnt be happier with the service, support and education provided by the guys... Our van needed work done to pass the Out-Of-Province, emergency service before the first road trip and some starter, battery, and heater repairs... our trust in their work is immense, and although I feel like a part owner in the shop now after a couple of the bills, we now have confidence our BeeDub will be reliable on the road and not leave us stranded out there :) Thanks Tony's Crew!

Rolled into the shop 30 minutes to close with a last minute with what I thought was catastrophic car problem. Not only did they take my car in gladly, but they found the culprit of the horrible clanging (gravel in my wheel thingy) and refused to take my money for the quick fix. They said it was "no problem". The staff was kind, enthusiastic, and professional. It's unheard of for auto repair shops to do things for free, past close, and with such kindness. My wife and I are eager to come back to Tony's for any engine or car work in the future. Thank you again for everything!

I’m sorry I won’t be dealing with Tony’s anymore. After 15 years of great service it’s time to move my 1987 Westy on to my nephew (Chip’s) family. But they live in southern Ontario and I’m south of Calgary so I had to deliver it. Tony’s looked it over even more carefully than normal and recommended some items we fixed. She took me 4000 km in 6 days (with a 1/2 day out at a shop recommendation from Tony’s guy). I’m sure I wouldn’t have made it without them. Chip is a happy man with his well maintained camper. We brought in our 2009 Tiguan right before the long weekend for an inspection. Paul let us know that we needed to have our rear brakes changed out and he proceeded to stay late so that we could have our car ready for the long weekend. These guys were excellent and had great communication. Don't be put off by the exterior of the shop, these guys are professional and cost effective. I will be taking my vehicle back to them for any future work.

Ton'ys used to be good but the last service was poor. They lost a part during the initial service and had to reschedule for another repair to replace the part they lost. Then I had to go in again for another part of the service they could not do initially, the whole time they weren't too good at getting back to me. Overall they blamed someone got Covid and had to shut down the garage, but this a pretty poor response IMO.

These guys are absolutely amazing! They specialize in AUDIs and VWs, but they took fantastic care of my 4RUNNER at much lower cost than what the local Toyota dealership quoted me. Super professional and friendly. My vehicle was in and out in less than 24 hours. I felt extremely comfortable with all their suggestions and I look forward to servicing both my vehicles with them in the future. Keep up the good work guys!

These guys are incredible! I have been dealing with them for almost 10 years and they have been nothing but excellent. Always suggesting only what NEEDS to be done versus dealerships who are always forcing you to do unnecessary service. Paul is also excellent to deal with. He explains everything in plain English and never attempts to upsell you! I highly recommend them for anything to do with Volkswagen!

Super friendly team! I had a coolant emergency and needed to buy some a bit late in the day downtown when no one else was open. They went above and beyond to make sure I had what I needed to get my problem fixed. Really appreciate their help so last minute! Thanks for the penny too, I lost my screwdriver and needed to tighten a clamp so their quick thinking saved me :)

10/10 would recommend to anyone with VWs. Not only did they identify and fix the problem, they caught a critical issue that I was aware of but had gotten worse. They are thorough, honest, and went the extra mile. I walked away with a repaired car, rotated tires, and unseized caliper, and a complete list of the remaining maintence issues. My wiper blade arm broke (in the middle of a snow storm) so I had to find the nearest mechanic shop to where I was. Went to Tony's Auto Shop and I was thrilled by the level of service I got. They fit me in right away and had a mechanic look at my car, fix my wiper blade arm and had me out the door in 15 min. Thank you so much for helping me out in a pinch!!

Second time coming here and both experiences have been extremely friendly, candid and fair. we tried a couple of different shops previously and have nothing great to say, in fact the dealership (5th ave) where we purchased our Golf was a total nightmare! Tony's has restored our faith in the mechanic - customer relationship. Highly recommend this shop!

Brought an old minivan in for regular servicing and they were honest with me. Showed me the scan codes that were showing up, didn't try to get me to pay for anything i didn't need. The price for the work I had done was pretty good. Only down side was that there was a two week wait to get my van seen. I figure a wait time is probably a good sign.

Shane was very helpful and informative, we got dealt a bit of a handful with a used car we bought. With his knowledgeable approach he helped us itemize and prioritize repairs, identify places where we could kill two birds with one stone and in the end we now have a reliable car and a trusted mechanic. I brought 2 trucks here to have them inspected prior to purchasing one of them. The same mechanic looked over both of them and was very thorough helping me make a decision. As a former Ontario resident it is common for me to do inspections prior to purchasing, and the team here actually saved me from a very expensive money pit.

Dropped by today, just the sound of my car drew shane outside. We chatted as he noticed a vacuum line leak. although he's short a mechanic he hooked me up some vacuum hose and i was able to fix it in minutes! Had the Timing chain replaced in my Audi Q5 - service was great and price excellent. I discovered a leak in the seal a year later and the guys at Tony's checked it, re-applied sealant and tested to make sure it was repaired...all at no cost! You don't find service like that anymore. Thanks!

Honest mechanics who really will tell you what needs to be done and when! They also have a great pre-purchase inspection process if you are thinking of buying a car and want to get it checked out. I know they specialize in VWs but I have always brought Japanese and Korean cars to them.

Got my timing belt replaced as well as some other work done. They did a great job and were honest about the repairs I needed. Car was fixed promptly (under 2 days). Overall a very good experience. I have been back for all my service and they have been awesome and prompt every time.

took my Honda in for a problem back in 2012. it need a oxygen sensor replaced. but guess what, 4 other items were replaced before they found it's only oxygen sensor. costing me over 1k. good going gentlemen.
