Just a typical big box liquor/wine store I visit only around the holidays for one-off gift errands. For as many people on staff, I still usually find it tough to get good help, or any help. A little advice to shoppers, if they're pouring one of their "winery direct" Cabernets from Paso Robles, they expect you to fawn and drool over it. One of the employees realized I was on a different level when I pointed out the flaws and stylistic turn offs (Oak bomb with a lot of intervention tailored for the casual American wine drinker's palate). I think it was 1858 Paso Cab(?), a tertiary label "from the Wagner Family" (yikes, as if the name drop was supposed to close the sale...those days have been long gone, my friends). She backed off her script, walked away, knowing she wasn't making the sale with me. Smart move really, no sarcasm. None of the staff wants to converse with people who know more than them, so they quickly occupy themselves with something else since they hone in on the fact that I don't need to be guided. The Pinot Noir from the Santa Barbara area was much more pleasant coming off the Wagner trash, but still not in my wheelhouse. California Pinots generally aren't drinkable on current vintage. Gotta let them find legs in the bottle for at least 2 to 4 years. It was good enough as a palate cleanser or as holiday party wine I wouldn't be drinking anyway. You're really missing out by not stocking more juice from Anderson Valley/Mendocino. Also, I felt like I was being followed as I roamed and shopped. There was a guy in his 30s in casual plainclothes wearing an earpiece pretending he wasn't following me in several aisles, passing by end caps. He looked of Hispanic descent like me, but I'm more pale. Perhaps he was profiling me. It was getting annoying to the point I almost called him out to suggest he be slicker at his job. Next year, wear slacks, wing tip shoes, button up shirt with a tie as you talk into your earpiece and I'll think you're talking to someone about a work party or business deal and not stalking someone you think might decide to be a thief in the next 10 seconds. See y'all next December!
I love total wine, the options they have are wonderful! The reason for 1 star is Shannon, the cashier who worked 12/5 around 6pm. She was extremely rude and even mumbled under her breath thinking me and my husband didn’t hear her. We come here often and never once felt so disrespected from the staff. She needs a lesson in customer survive as she is NOT patient. This was our first time doing Instacart and we didn’t know we needed to pull up the barcode (which wasn’t a problem as we were pulling it up on our phone to proceed) - I told her it would take 2 seconds and she MOCKED me and mumbled it under her breath. That’s what I would expect from a 5th grader, not a seasoned woman like her. I’m so upset about this service. She doesn’t mesh well with the other friendly cashiers I encounter when we visit Total Wine.
The shelf the price of Veuve Clicquot (v) was $61, at the check out we were charged $109.99. We went to the agent who was helping us to inform about the mistake. We were told that the charged price is correct. The agent offered us to exchange the wine for another bottle. We didn't want to exchange because we still wanted to try the wine. I think the general practice is for the store to acknowledge their mistake and charge the price that was listed on the shelf. The price difference was huge, and it is customers' inconvenience to point out mistakes like this. This store certainly cares about customer service because the number of the servicing staff was huge. And I want to inform the management that there are better ways to address such issues. P.S. the wine worths the price
Went to the Cedar Park location to purchase a particular item their website said they had. Well, didn't. Was sent to the arboretum location. GM called to verify the item was available. After road construction and a long time to get there, I went in and asked a man at customer service where the particular item I was looking for was located. He immediately told me they were sold out, even though the Lakeline store called to verify. I stated someone called their store. Wanted to know who. All I could say was he called inventory. Well guess what? They had numerous in stock. I am so unimpressed, I'm driving to the store tomorrow to find out his name, as I know what this unimpressed man looks like. Stay tuned for his name.
The only thing we really know about alcohol is what we like to drink. We needed to figure out how much and what kind of alcohol we needed for our 130+ guest wedding, and we're so glad we went to Total Wine, first. Linda asked helpful questions, listened to our feedback, and made stellar recommendations. She steered us towards quality options that fit our budget, and at no point did it feel like we were on the receiving end of a sales pitch. Their staff assisted with the loading of our haul the day I picked it up, which included a heavy half-keg, and again with the unloading after very few of our guests drank any of the beer we ordered. They take returns on unopened bottles, which is a HUGE plus.
The only reason I’m giving a 2 star review is because of the selection available. Great range of additive free tequila! Love to see it. But my experience was dampened by the lady walking around with a headset. A gentlemen approached me in the tequila isle asking for recommendations for a gift for his buddy. I pointed him to some great additive free options. The worker with headset proceeded to scoff at my recommendations & told the man he should get Casamigos… Total Wine please educate your employees before you have them recommending product.
The people who work at this location have been really helpful! I have no clue about anything ever when it comes to alcohol choices. I wish I knew the name of the person who spent forever explaining the different bourbons to me. It was very interesting and I never felt any pressure to buy anything but the employee was a bourbon enthusiasts and the conversation was fun. I feel like the employees here are excited to talk about their specialties. The team here is just generally a joy, the checkers are great too.
HUGE praise to Mickey, who has helped my husband and I on multiple occasions. She is our go to for recommendations on French wine, but as we have come to find out, her knowledge far exceeds this region and wine for that matter. Going into a store like this can be intimidating due to the sheer size, but seeing Mickey during our visits makes us feel comfortable that we will walk out with some outstanding options.
Very disappointed with the service.. Manager walked pass me not once, not twice, but three times until I heard him ask a WHITE guy if he needed help. I did not think total wine was on this type of time in 2023 but I guess things will never change. I will definitely stay out of that store. Just a heads up to my Hispanic people hopefully they treat yall better than they did me.
Whenever I’m up in the arboretum I always come by and see what this store has going on. Their entire team is always there to help me look for my favorite Texas Tequila Socorro. I love that Socorro donates a case of water to local orphanages in Mexico for every case of Tequila sold! Plus their agave based orange liquor makes for the perfect Mexican Margarita.
I absolutely love this place. So many helpful people and there is such a great selection of any alcohol you're looking for. Also the prices are very competitive to other big chain retailers. Everything they carry is quality, well placed and provided with the right amount of knowledge from the staff. Also if you can ever find Sublime Beer you're scoring huge.
Today was the first time I have been to Total Wine after I have online ordered a bottle of the Ardberg whiskey that seemingly cannot be bought in any other store in Austin. When I went to pick it up I stocked on 12 more bottles of wine. They have plenty of choices with nice descriptions stocked in neat and carefully organized rows and rows of shelving.
This place is flawless and has a comprehensive selection of beverages and cigars. The service is is outstanding and they are very knowledgeable about their products. I really appreciate that they have the option of chilling your beverage(s) at the store. I highly recommend shopping at their store!!
They have a huge selection. Everyone was very knowledgeable about the alcohol and inventory. Everyone was extremely friendly. I was surprised in different sections there are books available for free to educate you on various alcohols. Ignorance is now a choice. I love this place!!!!
Beautiful store and very well stocked , thank goodness they have plenty of staff always willing to take you directly to what ever you ask for otherwise I would have spent most of my time lost trying to find what I need . Could use better organization and signage …
Several knowledgable staff members approached us during our Christmas list shopping. We don't drink bourbon, but had read about some local businesses and wanted to check them out for sons and friends. We had the best time shopping at the Arboretum Total Wine.
This total wines tends to keep higher end harder to find premium products on a more steady basis then others in the area staff is always happy to recommend you new liquors to try and cocktail recipes Beer selection is 10/10
I mean, how can you not love this place? I mostly drink bourbon and scotch, when I compared Twin Liquors $1 days I saw very little savings vs. Tots Wine (should be their name) regular pricing. Great chain
I love this store! The staff are super helpful and kind. The wine tasting classes are very educational and fun. If you want to learn more about wine, this is a great place to get started.
Love the arboretum Total Wine, the people who work there are absolutely amazing! I would drive from a long distance just to buy some spirits and conversate with the sommeliers there!
I love this liquor store. They have everything you could want & more. The staff is super knowledgeable & helpful. Whenever I'm in town this will be my place to stop for sure.
Needless to say, a very very comprehensive collection of all things spirits. It’s pretty much a one stop shop and an experience every time I visit.
The only stop I need to make when buying beer, wine, and spirits. Great variety and and good prices. The staff are always helpful and friendly.
This location is absolutely amazing! It has such a better variety than Specs, and their layout and organization is insanely better as well!
Going to Total Wine is more than just a trip to a liquor store it is an enjoyable experience. The name says it all. TOTAL WINE & MORE!
Best place to get ALL your alcohol. I love the wine selection. Saved a ton of money buying wine and champagne vs. the hotel.
I was looking for a specific item. A salesperson was available to help me find it immediately so I was in and out quickly.
Great selection of different kinds of alcohol. A lot of craft beers as well as liquor. Good employees helping me out.
These guys are great, inside is loaded with everything you could want. Staff is available helpful and knowledgeable.
I love Total Wine. They have a HUGE selection of everything you can imagine and are always reasonably priced.
First time there. Great selection. We will be back. My fiance and I always buy a different bottle of tequila.
Great store, incredibly massive selection of all the goodies. Definitely my favorite store for booze and wine
Place is awesome. Friendly staff and they had what I was looking for, the Blackened 72 seasons whiskey! Yay!
Went to the California Wine tasting there and had a blast. Looking forward to one of their spirits tastings.
Total Wine carries my favorite beer from back home in Boston, Harpoon IPA. This alone gives them 5 stars
Very paranoid of anyone who's not a repeat customer. Stockers and Checkers are the only bright spot.
Just a fantastic selection of great wines (especially French, Italian & Spanish) & spirits
As all Total Wines, they are professionals who care deeply about their jobs and customers
always a good place.... knowledgeable staff, great sales and extensive inventory
We went for Georgian Amber Wine which the web site advertises. They were out.
The best overall prices. Great beer, liquor, cigar, and wine selection.
Good prices and selection. Just wish they still carried Akvavit …
Super simple to order and pick up. Folks are great and friendly.
Great selection and service. Always a good experience.
They always have what I want !!! Toys r us for adults.
A wonderful store with a big variety selection
We can always find everything we need here.
