The only bar that I’ve ever experienced where you don’t even have to go inside to be yelled at by one of their bar tenders. We were passing by walking on the street when one of their bartenders yelled at our group and said she “wasn’t moving and we were going to have to go around her”, all of my group did except for me since I was already on the side of her. I moved the garbage out of my way to pass thinking that I could be out of her way enough. She yelled again that “I was the most entitled person ever” and she was “tired of tourist coming to HER city and trashing it” (we’re all from New Orleans or sounding areas, but not even the point).. obviously not friendly to tourist so I would not advise anyone from out of town, there are 100% better bars. New Orleans is a very welcoming place, we love tourists and are very appreciative when they choose this city as their destination. I saw another review about a blonde bartender that was very rude, I would bet that it was the same one. We take pride in our hospitality industry, don’t go here for the New Orleans experience because THIS is not who we are!

We visited this establishment on 8.26.23 with intentions to see the library bathroom this place is known for. Turns out the bathroom was out of order with a sign reading “Out of Order. See Bartender.” Totally fine! We were not upset (how could you be?). We decided to stay and have a drink. I was curious to know the story behind this library bathroom and when I asked the bartender, she screamed at me stating “can’t you read the sign?” The screaming continued for a good minute and the whole bar was staring at me. To say I was humiliated is a complete understatement. I come from 10 years of experience in the restaurant industry and would NEVER treat a patron this way. If New Orleans has a category for Worst Bartender, the short blonde at this establishment would win!

I went into the bar to use the restroom and the bartender shouted to me that I needed to buy a drink to use the restroom. The music was loud so I shouted back that I wanted 'crown', she said she couldn't hear me, so I repeated myself, using my right hand above my head to indicate "crown", I repeated this twice ( because she supposedly couldn't hear me )...then she proceeded to tell me that if I was going to shout at her, I could leave and go next door to Molly's..which I'd exactly what I did. Rude and unprofessional. Even one of her customers came outside to check on me after that happened and even he said that was uncalled for. I will not return and I will share this experience with everyone that asks for suggestions for bars, since I am also in the service industry in NOLA.

Was excited to go here as it’s my first time in New Orleans and had heard good things. I walked in with my friends and walked around to check the place out. Unfortunately I proceeded to hear the bartender with red glasses and grey hair complain to someone at the bar about how “oh great & this is why she doesn’t work Fridays” and then was overtly rude to two girls in the group when they proceeded to inquire about drink specials. There were maybe a total of 10 people in the bar. Needless to say we left and won’t be returning. Perhaps don’t put her on Fridays anymore

I was super excited when I saw the "Magners" sign and forced my friend to stop. She was gonna drink but the bartender was so rude to both of us she opted not to. Then the bartender continued about a one drink minimum for everyone essentially requiring my friend to buy a drink she wasn't interested in. When she asked if I wanted to close or open a tab, and I said close she raised her voice and was insistent I open a tab. Overall the experience was just lacking and it wasn't busy to elicit any kind of attitude. It's a dive bar but service shouldn't dive too.

  • Stephen Elgar

The bartender refused us service because we only had our Canadian drivers licences and not our passports. She claimed it was law in the USA that we have to show our passport as ID. No other bar in town said this and other bartender told us that was not true. Especially the fact both the canadian and USA governments tell you not to carry your passport on your person as you travel, always leave it locked in a safe place. And also my enhanced license let’s me enter the USA without a passport

Great little dive bar. Met a wonderful Aussie bartender who slung you cold ones, had a quick wit and funny sense of humor. I don't remember her name but she was also kind enough to give a bunch of tourists ideas of other things to do and see despite our inability to coherently string a proper sentence together (bachelor party). Drinks were not expensive, location is right in the middle of everything else and they have a pool table. Check it out if you want a quick drink without fuss.

  • Joseph Bordelon

A pretty good selection of drinks, the Car bomb was my favorite & they have a selection of drinks that are only $5. They have a pool table which is a nice change of pact from most bars on Bourbon Street to sit & relax instead of just sitting at the bar, the bathroom is different too in the sense it's hidden in the book shelf in the back. Jukebox has a pretty wide variety of rock songs. The bartenders were real pleasant as well.

Jamie literally is the best person I have ever met. My boyfriend got pickpocketed during Mardi Gras and she made this bar a safe place for us to figure out our next move. Gave us advice and shelter. Hugged us and told us everything would be okay. Honestly wouldn’t have made it through without her. If you happen to get her as a bartender please give her the biggest tip and treat her like the angel she is!

  • Kate Trainor

Bartender V unfriendly. And audibly upset she needed to make us 3 different variety of shots. So, you want a dive with a dive of a bartender…? You got it. Plus when one of us had to use the restroom she yelled at another patron to shut up when he was trying to tell us where it was, as if we were not allowed. If you’re off Bourbon, keep strolling over to The Dungeon.

  • Robert Arick

ducked into the bar from the rain. place was near empty at 6:30pm. bartender acted very inconvenienced about our arrival. tried to be upbeat and witty to improve her mood. that backfired and she was rude and went to the other end of the bar and ignored us. closed our tab and walked 2 doors down to molly’s and had a delightful evening.

  • Janelle Sorenson

Best dive bar we've been to in a long time. Bartender (don't recall her name) had a "don't mess with me attitude" but was attentive to every patron who walked in. The regulars here were even helpful with suggestions for us (live music, restaurants, sightseeing).

If you're a fan of dive bars, mystique, or rock/metal, do yourself a favor and go here. As far as I know 24/7 or perhaps I didn't stay late/early enough. More of a lowkey vibe. Watching a friend try and find the bathroom after ingesting some psychoactive substances (off property of course) was quite entertaining

  • Lane E. Grizzard

Very very rude individual behind the bar. Regardless of my sincere apologies for having to ask where the pool table triangle was, she still yelled and acted like I was stupid. I paid for one drink and tipped 35% in hopes that it would make the bartender be nicer, but it did not work. Stay away from this bar.

  • rhonda g

Had a great time here in a dive bar setting, shooting pool and enjoying reasonably priced drinks. $5 in the jukebox got us 25 songs! OMG the bathroom entrance is so cool. Its like a fake library with hidden doors. Bartenders and patrons were friendly.

If you gotta watch the Saints lose a playoff game while you’re on vacation, this is at least the spot to do it. Bartender was super nice and fast, drink deals were excellent, and the locals there were kind and fun (right up until that stupid no-call, but even I wasn’t fun after that).

  • Victoria Dowden

I'm not a local, but this bar is definitely free of all of the tourist garbage that I see here. Prices are great and the bartenders are helpful and nice. I love the secret bathroom and the general vibe of the place too. Definitely going to come again when I visit NOLA in the future.

  • Matthew Perkins

One of the last surviving rock/ metal bars in the quarter. It's dimly lit atmosphere and bartenders hard as coffin nails makes Toulouse dive one of my first loves. And I will continue venturing back here for as long as they keep Omnium gatherum on the juke box.

  • Ryan Gregor

Just off Bourbon, if you want a break from the crazy pop in here. I rate it high because it is the perfect bar for my tastes, no slushies or anything fancy, just a regular dive bar. Always fun watching someone new to the bar trying to figure out the bathrooms.

  • Z Z

This place is awesome. We are from Chicago and they welcomed us with open arms. Issa was super nice and took care of us. Played 18 songs on the jukebox for $5 and shot some pool. Couldn’t have been much better. Drink prices were great too.

  • Kaitlin Mahar

Very chill, no-frills location and less touristy than a lot of bars in the area. It was a nice place to stop for a drink and relax and escape the madness of Bourbon Street. The bartender was very friendly and chatted with us for a while.

  • CARLOS

First time in NOLA from Wisconsin…Best bar ever. Jess was bartending and made it so personable and friendly that we came back after the first time stopping here to see her again. Great service, great bartender. 10/10.

  • Michael Loomis III

Lives up to its name. Decent beer selection with an awesome jukebox. Nice bartenders who were helpful recommending places to go and eat. Lots of locals were in and out. Kind of reminded me of my own dive bar at home.

  • Katie Mullins

This is my fave bar in NOLA! I’m planning a trip back in June and it’s one of my top 3 places I’m excited to re visit. The bartenders were so kind and cool & the atmosphere was awesome. Highly recommend …

  • Jason Obermann (Jason Obermann)

Great bar with friendly staff. Prices are very reasonable and it’s a nice laid back place for a drink. They are currently open and have not been affected by Hurricane IDA except for the lack of people.

  • Troy Goodrich

Stopped in on a random Thursday afternoon, met Isa , a beautiful vibrate young lady with an incredible personality and way better bar stories than I had. Just off Bourbon stop in and hear a good tale

  • Maggie McMorries

Not as "divey" as I expected but they weren't crowded and they have a pool table without an hour long line. Comfortable, local atmosphere and my favorite part was the secret bookcase bathroom!!!

  • Rebecca Scully

The employees are rude and not welcoming at all. If the bartender gets your drink order wrong, they will kick you out for asking for the correct drink!!! No wonder this place is dead!!

  • Michelle D

Blonde bartender is the rudest, most unhinged thing I’ve ever seen. Literally screaming at people trying to buy drinks causing them to leave with almost no one in the bar. Weird vibe.

  • Sebastian Hebert

Stopped here after a concert around 3am and had an amazing time. Candy was working and is an amazing bartender. Awesome drinks, not super expensive! Get a Bloody Mary.

  • Ryan Haas

If I wanted my bartender to stare aimlessly into space for 10 minutes while I waited patiently for a beer I'd just go back to the Midwest where everyone is on opiates.

  • Cathy Veroneau

Liked the break from the crowds on Bourbon. They have a pool table and play hard Rock on the 'jukebox'. It's a dive and I like it. Reasonable prices for good drinks.

  • Thelma Jaramillo

Service was horrible which is bad enough but then the drinks suck oh hellllll no, should've realized when only two other customer's we're there during Mardi Gras

  • Makenzie Meacham

We popped in for a drink. We got the midnight potion, it was $5 and strong and tasted exactly like cough syrup but got the job done. Would come here again.
