Had a really delightful trip here for lunch, they do a great set menu for about £13.95 a head, with a starter, main and dessert (ice-cream or coffee) having taken a trip around China town we were struggling to find somewhere and we just so happened to get a local telling us that this place did great food. They certainly weren't wrong, for the money this was a tasty meal, traditional Thai cuisine full of flavour. The decor was nice and felt really homely, the only letdowns were the dessert side of things, a small scoop of ice cream isn't really a dessert, there was a walls ice-cream tub on the counter, so nothing special. The starters were really good and the mains too. Really enjoyable.

The building has a lovely interior once you walk up. We got seated pretty quickly which was really good. I feel the service could have been slightly better as there was only 2 of us and took over 10 minutes to get asked what we wanted. The food arrived in good time. I would say the beef pad thai that I ordered could have done with a sauce of some type as it was a little try. I also ordered the flat rice noodles side which I didn’t touch at all, i was hoping there were more noodle options such as vermicelli but it was only rice ones. The door between the restaurant and the waiting area is where we were sat and the door kept slamming hard on the glass aggressively and it disrupted the meal and conversation a lot. Overall it was okay and would come again.

Try Thai has long been a staple of the China Town area of Manchester and most definitely retains its spot as one of the jewels in its crown. There's something for everyone here. For those who like their Thai food to be more traditional and authentic, or even those who like something different. Allow me to recommend the soft shell crab. Which I personally found to be exquisite. The pork belly is also absolutely mouth watering for those of a more conservative palate. The staff are so friendly and attentive without ever being intrusive. From meetings to family meals, to catch ups with friends. I thoroughly recommend Try Thai.

Having read a few reviews, I was a bit sceptical about the service we would receive, but I guess you can't please everyone! After being shown to our seats, we were asked for our drinks orders within minutes, by a happy smiley member of staff. The food order was taken promptly when we were ready, and ordering additional drinks was no problem whatsoever. The food was absolutely delicious, and thoroughly enjoyed by our fussy teenage son. I would recommend the tamarind crispy belly pork starter, as well as the jumbo king prawn chu chi curry. An excellent evening evening, with fantastic food. I would most certainly visit again.

Tried the 3-course lunch menu; lovely decor and a comfy place to dine. Presentation and taste of food were amazing. Best green curry I have ever had in the Uk, despite the spiciness. The coconut flavour took the dish to another level. Loving the pork skewer, perfect seasoning and it’s so juicy and tender. The sauce to pair made it less oily. Perhaps a bit more rice to serve with the main since the sauce was so tasty. Appetiser and main were brilliant, yet the dessert (ice cream) was just so-so. Service was okay, some staff were friendly whilst some were a bit indifferent. Not a bad experience after all.

I really appreciate the lunch meal deals - something most uk restaurants can learn from. For an appetizer, main, and dessert, I feel like I’m getting a good deal for an inclusive meal. Food is delicious, im satisfied with the National dish, Pad Thai, and famous green Thai curry. My only complaint is the rather small portion. However if you’ve got a small stomach, you’ll be fine. Service was a bit slow to order, but the overall restaurant atmosphere was pleasant. Worth trying out for some nice Thai food.

Meal was tasty from starters to mains. Attentive staff and nothing was too much. Location is great as well as right in China town. We had the Try Thai Mango crispy Seabass - this dish is quite spicy so if spicy isn’t for you pick something else. The starter was Try Thai platter which consisted of all the items in the starter menu.

Been here twice, both times the food and service have been great. The first time, I ordered the crispy chicken fillet with penang curry (shown in the picture), which arrived within 15 minutes - a pretty good time, since I came on a Friday at around 7pm! The second time, I came in for lunch, which had a pretty good lunch set menu of a starter and a main for £13. The staff are super friendly and the atmosphere is nice - I would definitely recommend this place for reasonably priced food in Chinatown, for lunch or for an evening meal!

Try Thai @ Manchester's Chinatown Another lovely spot in Manchester. As with most good restaurants, we had to queue for about 10 minutes before getting a seat for 2. We opted for the 'Vegetarian Banquet'. For 22 pounds/person, the selections were incredible! Starters - Sweet Corn Cake, Vegetable Spring Roll, Battered Aubergines with Panang Sauce, Spicy Vegetable Salad Mains - Vegetable Yellow Curry, Stir Fry Fresh Ginger with Tofu, Stir Fry Chillin & Mix Vegetables Dessert - Tea & Coconut Ice Cream The experience was exquisite. It was truly a banquet for the both of us. I thoroughly enjoyed the Thai Cuisine served here.

The food was absolutely delicious it was a nice portion I literally couldn’t finish it and took the rest home. Also customer service is fantastic. And honest restaurant, I forgot my handbag there which had my card and a lot of cash (£230) that wasn’t even in the wallet it was just in the bag, when I went back to get it they gave it to me and not a single penny was missing, I don’t think they opened the bag, they could’ve easily just pretended that someone stole it but they didn’t so yeah absolutely amazing.

The Pineapple Fried Rice (packed with lots of cashew nuts which I absolutely adored on the dish) and the Thai Mango Crispy Seabass were enjoyable, though they were missing that strong flavour and aromatic punch which Thai cuisines are well known for. If you are looking for authentic Thai food, in my humble opinion, this is probably not Thai enough but it is understandable when a restro prioritises the need to cater to the local palate.

I would have loved to upload more images of the food but the food was so good and I was so hungry that I didn't even take any images. Me and my partner had the 1st banquet on the menu. The starters so so yummy and the mains was filled with so much flavour. It was very good value for money and I couldn't even finish it all. They was very busy but managed to fit me and my friends on a table for 5. Lovely and polite staff.

I don’t know who made the food but compared to how the standards used to be, this restaurant has gone down hill. It’s not authentic Thai food. It’s catered to the white palate for sure. I’m not sure if there’s a new chef because 2 years ago I would’ve recommended this restaurant. Now it’s basic and bland food. Also it took over an hour for someone to ask us for our drinks (or food) order after being seated.

I had a lovely birthday here with great food, service and atmosphere and it was pretty busy. To my surprise it was happy hour so I got 2 cocktails for the price of one. They played happy birthday and brought out a slice of cake with a candle in to the delight of my 8 year old granddaughter. All in all a lovely evening.

Went for dinner with the kids while staying in downtown Manchester. Easy to walk to. It has an authentic Thai ambiance. They were able to seat us without much of a wait on a busy Saturday night. The staff was friendly and efficient. The food arrived quickly and the service was excellent. Enjoyed the green curry.

I have a new favourite spot in Manchester! I can’t wait to go back and try the entire menu! The milk tea was delicious the pineapple fried rice to die for! I stole a few bits of the crispy pork from my boyfriend’s plate and it was so tasty! Such a good deal for weekday lunch as well with started, main and dessert for a really good price.

Had some delicious Thai dishes here today. Pad Thai and yellow curry rice were tasty, but what awed us the most was their mixed seafood tom yum soup. The soup was fantastic, and the seafood within it was fresh and large. The atmosphere was nice, and waiters and waitresses were friendly. But it cost us half pound to pack our leftover with the box they provided.

Service a bit slow but that is fine by me as I hate feeling rushed and want to sit down and enjoy a few drinks when I eat. Food was the main event, ordered from the lunchtime menu and tried a few things I hadn't had before. Really enjoyed the chilli and holy basil fried rice, the coriander beef to start was great as well. Good value, will definitely be back

Long been one of my favourite restaurants in Manchester and it didn't disappoint on this occasion. The decor and atmosphere was, as always pleasant, the service was prompt and friendly and the food was excellent. We had the Beef Red Curry and the Holy Chicken with Thai Basil. The only thing that jarred a little were the laminated menu looks and feels a little bit cheap but I assume its a response to Covid.

  • BLIBIB x Beast

Beautiful restaurant with very tasty food! The food is very authentic and they have unique dishes such as papaya salad and pineapple fried rice (the rice is inside a pineapple!) Which are delicious! I recommend to go with a group and share dishes so you get to try all the interesting dishes. There is a service charge if with a group of 6 or more. The service itself was good. Overall great restaurant!

  • Yusuf Malek

Busy restaurant, great vibe but it's all about the food here. Fantastic quality and great taste, portion sizes for the mains were huge. Had the spicy soup, king prawn rolls and a main of chilly and sweet basil stir fry. Absolutely delicious, literally finished off everything in sight! Highly recommended, can see why it's so popular
