The folks at Tweedy and Popp are always helpful and friendly. It’s got the “neighborhood hardware store” feel, which I value. I’ve done several home improvement projects over the past few months and have visited multiple times, sometimes in the same afternoon. Also, as a small woman, I unfortunately have less-than-respectful encounters at hardware stores a good amount of the time (nevermind that I started woodworking and using a jigsaw when I was still so small I needed a stepstool). The guys who have helped me at Tweedy and Popp have never displayed an ounce of judgment, which may seem like a small thing to some people, but it really makes a world of difference to me. They always approach me like I know what I’m talking about. And if I don’t, they’re happy to explain further. They have a solid selection of paints, tapes, screws/bolts, etc. All the usual basics. I know my apartment maintenance folks have gone there for parts too. I haven’t asked about their experiences, but they always come back with what they were looking for. This place is great, I highly recommend it for your hardware needs.
I recently moved to Wallingford and have been here a few times for new apartment essentials! They have so many products beyond "hardware" from gardening and cleaning supplies to even kitchen ware and bathroom supplies. The staff are all very friendly and happy to help you find what you're looking for and one went above and beyond for me last week! My license plate got ripped off my car at the car wash and after buying new bolts to reattach it, I realized the backings weren't threaded! One of the employees helped me find the right nuts for the bolts I bought and shaved them down for me in the store so they'd fit snugly in the plate mount!! I wish I knew his name (I'll have to ask next time I go) but thank you to whoever you are! My plate is now securely attached to my car again!!
I was waiting at the bus stop outside, and a guy came up to me and spit a mouthful of food into my face. I went inside this store to grab a paper towel to clean up, and the man working at the register was SO kind to me. He handed me a pile of paper towels, and let me use the restroom. He also came out to check on me while I was waiting for my next bus. Thank you so much sir! I’ll make the trip out to Wallingford next time I need hardware to support good, kind people.
Great service. They always help me find what I need and they seem to know their stock really well. Went in today to match a screw for putting fenders on my bicycle and they took me right to where I needed and helped make sure I had the right size. In and out in less than 5 minutes.
This is a great spot. I had a stubborn bolt that wouldn’t come out when I was removing the back seats from my car, so I went in looking for a better wrench. The guy behind the counter helped me find the right tool and even came outside and helped me remove the bolt.
Excellent neighborhood hardware shop. The people here are refreshingly knowledgeable and have offered some solid advice on my house projects. This place has tons of supplies, mostly small parts and tools.
I am visiting family in the area and having a well-stocked hardware store in walking distance is terrific! The staff is helpful and knowledgeable. A store like this is what every neighborhood needs!
I’ve been going to this hardware store since I was a kid, accompanying my dad to their tiny old spot across the street from where they’re now located. Friendly and helpful staff; highly recommend!
This store has great customer service. I went in to get a key copied and the staff went above and beyond to help me with my purchase. I will be going back for all my hardware related needs!
Tried to return a new unused tool (a pressure washer gun), but they refused to take it back because the tag was removed even though I had the original receipt and the tool was never used.
A good ‘ol neighborhood hardware store jam-packed with pretty much everything one might need to build stuff or keep things from falling apart. And the staff is pretty great, too.
amazing amount of stuff crammed into this store, they really can save you a trip to a bigstore in many cases. call them, they know if they have it.
Small, but well-stocked neighborhood hardware store with friendly staff.
Very helpful matching a paint color, a perfect match!
