I was riding around trying to find tires for winter and remembered a friend had been to this shop and recommended it. When I arrived I saw the older gentleman working on a bike through the dark window and after reading the Covid safety sign asking people to wait at the door an knock for attention, I did just that and was greeted with "Sorry, I didn't realise you were so important." Taken aback by this, I didn't register how rude this man had just been and asked him about my tires. After waiting for him to finish with an elderly woman who had been in the back of the shop, I walked into the shop as I thought I should give him another chance with the current pandemic and people maybe not realising how they are talking to people. Nope, rushed through purchase and the tires were double the online price. I understand as a business owner myself that high street shops have higher mark ups on items, but non perishables shouldn't be double the online cost which is already marked up! For clarification the tires where a pair of Marathon Originals 700x28c which currently retail online for around £16.99, I paid over £60 for the pair in good faith. The TLDR version of the above, rude and rushed service with overpriced items.

I've been a customer since 2007, and have never regretted my decision to invest some effort in becoming a familiar face and building a relationship with the shop. All specialist shops can be intimidating to somebody unsure of their ability to talk technical, but with a shop like this you are able to pick things up from the staff and learn more and more as you go. The advice is second to none, and every member of staff is a genuine cyclist with experience they will share. Try going to Evans or another chain and see the level of expertise for yourself - usually they're merely retail staff who happen to work in a bike-shop, rather than cyclists who would only ever work in a bike-shop. If you have an unfriendly first experience, just get a thicker skin and come back - I guarantee that as you become familiar the experience will swing back and stay at the very positive end of the spectrum.

Wanted to like this shop, as it's independent and in my neighbourhood, but I had a very bad experience: as part of a tune-up (that ended up costing way more than expected), the handlebar tape on road bike was replaced. A few weeks later, both brake hoods started to get lose and began shifting and sliding down (within a few days of each other). This is not just sloppy workmanship, but dangerous! Additionally, the bar tape is lose on both sides, and by now, merely 3 months later, has shifted and moved around on the handlebars so much that the bar is exposed in multiple places. I'll have to replace the whole thing. (For reference, the previous handle bar tape was on my bike for 3 years of constant riding). It may be a minor nuisance, but if they can't get something this simple right, I certainly won't trust them with more substantial repairs.

Outrageously expensive + slow repair. Really disappointing. Amongst my complaints are: - Took 5 days longer to do the repair than promised, and when I called (twice!) gave me no information about having to order parts (just "it's almost done"). - Much more ££££ than the estimate, and no phone call to check if I was ok with their inflated price. - Replaced my new brake pads?! and charged me for the pleasure. I can't understand the thinking behind this 'rip off' business model: I live just up the road in a house of cyclists, and I would have been a repeat customer. Sure, they wouldn't have made as much money from me today, but they'd have made more in the long run... For better customer service at a lot lower prices, try Finsbury Cycles or BikeMech at The Castle Climbing Centre

This shop is admittedly not cheap, as can only be expected from an independent shop in Stokey. However, the level of service and advice I've always received there has been impeccable. They are patient and happy to help, and on occasion have even done some minor adjustments for me free of charge. And this wasn't on a bike I bought there. So if your budget is the absolute determiner, there are better options. But if you want a good balance of expertise, service an cost, TWG is the place to go. Update: I've downgraded my review from 5 to 4 stars, as the Kryptonite lock I bought for £50 is available just down the road from Halfords for £20. While I accept prices will be higher to a degree seeing as it's an independent shop, such a price difference for this item is unjustified.

I absolutely love this place and have been going for years. Every time I go in, I know that they are going to be completely honest and will do a great job. I did chuckle reading these comments regarding the owners son. This has got to be the young, tall guy. I try to avoid contact with him, as he is condescending and rude. Thankfully though, I rarely see him when I go in. All the other guys including the owner are SO nice though, that they absolutely make up for him. They are fantastic. They are not expensive at all, they do great work for fair prices. They are so accommodating that if you did have any issues with the work, just take it back and tell them and I'm sure they'll fix it. They have actually done about three jobs for me for free!

  • Amedeo Felix

I can see from some other reviews that the rudeness of the proprietor is an attempt at humour. Sorry but we use a bike shop for service, which we pay for, not abrasive humour as between really good friends. Our experience of this shop is poor I'm sorry to have to say. My wife brought in her bike for a service, and instead of being a professional the man treated her to a snooty diatribe about her bike being from Halfords. To add REAL insult to that needless act was the shoddy workmanship, where items like tightening the cable to the Shimano gear hub was left undone. When I took my Halfords bike to Evans near my office they were polite and professional. Hell they even cleaned my bike! We will never give this place our business ever again.

Excellent experience buying my new (4th) bike - got a better quote for same spec than another local shop for a great classic Dutch ride plus (more importantly) lovely helpful chat and advice in choosing, and willingness to hunt down all the exact extra bits / swaps I wanted to customise. No pushing higher end stuff than I wanted or needed. Lovely team even spent a good 45 minutes fixing rim lights I’d bought elsewhere on for me on collection. They didn’t even tease me on the slightly out there choice I’d made! After years of being used to slightly condescending and reluctant service in some other local-ish spots, whether on my road bike or my pretty-workhorses, this was super refreshing :)

  • S BC

Booked in bicycle for some repairs. Turned up at opening time on a friday morning and waited for half an hour for anyone to bother showing up for work. No-one turned up so had to leave, and was consequently late for work. What a way to treat your customers. Previous experience has been tainted by the extremely rude older bloke, (the boss?), who is so up his own arse, he struggles to pull a smile. Not interested in helping or discussing the work you have done on the bike, just wants you to pay and leave. The saving grace is Alec, the mechanic, who is polite and helpful. Prices are too high for work and stock. Shame as it is my local bike shop, but i won't be using it again. AVOID THIS SHOP!

  • Jonathan Sutcliffe

Contrary to other voices here, I found the staff very pleasant, however I agree that they appear to be trying to rinse as much money as they can out of you. Upon leaving the shop, found a loose bolt in the steerer, and brake lever completely loose! They had also forgotten to do a key bit of adjustment I had requested. Also very eager to replace parts (chain, cassette, BB, bar tape), when I wasn't 100% sure it was necessary yet. I wasn't really in a position to argue, but did consider it when my £70 service bill came up to a total of £180! The charge for lube and grease in particular seemed ridiculous. Won't be returning, which is a shame.

  • Ruth Stanton-Saringer

First class customer service from the gentleman in this shop this morning (sorry I didn't get your name). I had a screw go straight through my tire and because I was on my way to work (and probably looking a bit stressed!) he offered to fix it straight away while I grabbed a quick coffee. When I came back he had also tweaked my back wheel for me because he could see it was out and very gently suggested I have a winter service done. All for a fraction of what I thought it could cost. Independent bike shops like this are absolute gems, we should make sure we support them because they really look after us cyclists!

  • Kevin Standish

Two wheels good did an excellent job on electrifying my recumbent bicycle. They had to hand make a couple of brackets as the electric wheel was wider than anticipated when I bought the kit. Despite a struggle to fit this kit, they persevered and never gave up on getting it right. While they have been busy, we had good communication through out. For all the specialist hand work done, including a full service, new headset, hydraulic brake fitting, and new chain, the price was very reasonable. I have been using them since 2008. They are the ONLY bike shop I use for services of my many bikes.

  • Dan Farmer

The couple of times I've visited I've felt like they're trying to squeeze as much money out of me as possible, recommending that I *need* various parts on top of my basic service costs, some legitimate but some not. Plus they charged me £5 for 'lube and grease' on top of my service. A small thing, but should this not be included in the advertised service price? Is there ever a service that doesn't require lube and grease? And I agree with the other reviewers who say they're not friendly - felt like the guy couldn't have been any less interested. Definitely going somewhere else next time.

  • Martin Wright

I'm really surprised by all the bad reviews. I've been going to them frequently for a few years now (since Mosquito was taken over), and have had nothing but helpful, friendly service from them. They don't in my experience over-charge; in fact, several times they've fixed little problems with no, or minimal charge (I probably shouldn't say that in case people think it's a given!). I took a (female) friend there who was returning to cycling after a bad accident some years back, and they weren't remotely condescending, found the ideal bike for her, and she's been really happy with them.

  • Richard Drew

I told them I was backing a local independent shop when I was going to spend nearly £3000 on my bike last year. While I was in the shop they lied to persuade me to accept some upselling, pushing the price over £3k. When I returned for my first service I was team played by another 2 staff in an attempt to replace parts unnecessary, when asked why I needed a new chain after just 3 months, they said I couldn't use my gears properly. Remember they put a £5 excess on your service for oils etc. Sheer your sheep, don't slaughter them

  • T D

I’ve always had a great service with this shop. One to note was my 1st ever bike service. I booked in my bike in a busy time, and when I got my bike back not only was it in tip too shape, the price I paid was well under the estimated. So full respect to being honest. The bike is till running smooth 6 months later too. I went in last weekend as I’d lost my bar end plugs and the person in the shop provided me with some top end bar plus free of charge which was a lovely gesture. Fully rating this bike store as top notch.

  • Saffo Sapho

Had a flat tire and stopped by as it was the closest bike shop on the way. Shop is run by two seemingly unassuming guys who couldn't hold back their smirk at the sight of a queerdo on a bike - that aside - the place is overpriced and the service is mediocre. I asked around for several items twice as I do when I go to bike shops to check for consistency and got two different prices for the same item. It's a hipster shop front like most things on Stoke Newington Church St from theirs all the way to Whole Foods.

  • Kat Upton

I had previously been to the Crouch End branch before it closed. I had such good customer service there I decided to make the trip to stokey. I wasn't disappointed. I had a broken/shattered gear changer and needed the rear brake cable replacing. They had excellent knowledge which comes from years of experience. They had the parts i required and fitted it that day. Not only that, they knocked the price down for me. Excellent and friendly customer service, and the bike has never been this easy to ride!

  • Gea & Jürgen

Best bikeshop we have encountered during our 10 yrs in London. No other bike shop operates with the same love and care as TwoWheelsGood. Paddy and his team truly enjoy cycling and all things bike, they know their stuff, they tell you what’s needed and what would be good to do; all their fixes have been top notch and very fairly priced. I wouldn’t take my bikes anywhere else and next time we buy a new one it will for sure be from them! Highly recommend!

  • Arlie Adlington

I bought a custom Surly Straggler from Two Wheels Good, with the help of Paddy and Sam. Had a great experience - they were really friendly and helpful, and gave me really good advice about how to build up the bike based on the kind of riding I want to do. The bike itself is so nice, and they went the extra mile in a few ways to do some fun stuff with my colour scheme, etc. I would definitely recommend this shop for a custom bike build. Thanks again!

  • Raminta M

I got a puncture while I was cycling to work and there were no cycling shops around. A man stopped to check if I need any help and ended up fixing my puncture with his spare tube even though he was in a hurry to work. As we were having a chat he has mentioned that he owns this bicycle shop. He has explained me how to change the tube quickly and with no hassle next time. It was such a kind gesture which made my day, thank you!

  • Dee Pulman

Took my bike in for a puncture repair and they were able to turn it around in a couple of hours. Booked in for a full service following this, and the team were really helpful in choosing the right service package, and providing costs and details straight away. Picked bike up the next day with no more squeaks or rattling. Very happy with the service and quality of work provided by Two Wheels Good. Definitely recommend.

  • Sam Peña-Taylor

Great service, very accommodating, and well priced. Took my bike in for a light service a few months ago and they turned it around quickly and to a very high standard. More recently, they helped me out of a tight spot with a chain and couldn't have been more helpful. Great shop, a real asset to the community, and a real advert for why local bike shops are far far better than the big chain stores or sites. Thanks!

  • David Hastings

Took my road bike here for a service. Initially was booked in for a silver service, however one of the guys in the shop gave my bike a quick look over while I was there and bumped me down to a bronze as he didn't think there'd be enough work to justify a silver service. Could easily not have done that, so it was appreciated. Service was done the same day, very pleasant experience overall and would use them again.

  • Jonathan Carricker

Popped in initially for some advice but they quickly sorted out my mistake, gave me some helpful advice as to what parts I should have and offered to fit them there and then for no charge. When a component was missing from the packaging the person took one off his own bike so I didn't need to leave my bike there. Fantastic and friendly customer service which went above and beyond. A great local asset.

  • Padraic Flanagan

The really helpful guy behind the counter saved me from a long walk home when my old bike suddenly became too unsafe to ride on Stoke Newington Church St the other day. He could have asked me to buy the tool needed for a repair but instead he came outside and got me going in no time. Lovely gesture. I'll definitely be repaying the favour by returning for services/accessories etc. Highly recommended.

  • David S. Blanco

My family and I have been using this shop for a decade or so. Paddy / his father and staff are total professionals in every way. Old fashioned, high quality and friendly service, an essential part of the community of shops on Church Street. I’ve brought my bikes in for service every year and they essentially feel like brand new bikes after servicing. Flawless shop. 10/10

  • Pastoral Rezowiecki

Close your eyes and try to imagine the most unfriendly man on the whole planet. His eye sockets filled with Dollars and Pounds Sterling that he would love to drag out of your bank account. His grin is venomous, clean like a razor cut. Being unpleasant and arrogant are the very base of his soul. Now, open your eyes, stop imagining and open the door. You have found him.

  • Vladimir Galabov

It is possible this shop is good at repairing bikes but I have no idea. When I asked if they can take a look at my gears and fix them they said “probably at some point before I die”. I thought it was just a joke and asked a few more clarifying questions but given that they could not say if they can fix the gears or when approximately that would happen I left.

  • Patrick Roman-Sadler

Dropped my bike off for a full service and it came back clean and running like a dream. Gear changes were smoother and brakes biting efficiently. Even nice touches like the new crank being ordered in black rather than silver to match the other components was a great attention to detail. Lovely staff and friendly shop. Will definitely return.

  • Mark Elliott

Been going there for years and customer service is wonderful. As for sustainability, I took my bike in which was really not well and the man there persuaded me to get it mended and not chuck it as I was tempted to. They mended it. Cost a lot but rode like new afterwards so turned out I saved money and they saved a bike from going to the tip.

  • Louie Gregg

Lived in north London for a while and always struggled to find a good bike shop - until now. This place has friendly and knowledgeable staff that are extremely helpful and family-run, which fits the local community atmosphere. Properly sorted me out for a cycle trip. Good selection of bikes and gear too, overall would highly recommend.

  • Eve Holdsworth

Super friendly staff, I visited to ask for advice on a problem with my brakes and the gentleman fixed it there and then. I saw three other people pick up their bikes when I was there and all of them walked away happy. I will be taking my bike there for a service very soon as I trust that it will be in experienced and very safe hands.

  • Adeen Anwar

Too many good things to say about this store the service is always so friendly and funny and theyre very kind and reasonable, always fix things quickly and recommend good product and advice even though I ask a million questions they’re so patient. I’ll always opt for this store over Halfords or decathlon tbh always leave happy :)

  • David Cuesta

Always had good experiences here. Friendly service reasonable costs. Cosy atmosphere. Good selection of well priced accessories. It's not Cycle Surgery in terms of masses of stock but then that's not what I'm looking for on a local high street bike shop. Get my bike serviced here every year and they always do a good job.

  • James Law

I've been using these guys for about 5 years now and have always had ace service so was surprised by some of the reviews here. Had my bike in for a spoke replacement and complaining of noisy bottom bracket - all fixed in double quick time for only £18 - plus they were playing Bowie's new album - what's not to like! :)

  • Christina Argyropoulou

This is a great cycle shop. I bought my lock and lights from there. The people who work there are lovely, kind, smiley and helpful. Went today to have my chain put back in place, it was done in 2sec, I did not get charged, instead I received a smile. My friend has also repaired her bike there and was very satisfied.

  • Ann-Marie Grant

Really appreciate the guys for their goodwill. We were planning a nice cycle around Clissold Park with my toddler when his bike chain broke. We popped in to the bike shop and the chain was fixed in no time. They also gave us some tips on best bikes to look out for as our toddler gets older. Thank you so much!

  • Leanne Price

I’ve been to this bike shop many times and always had an excellent experience. My bike wheel was damaged recently, they managed to fit my bike in for repair and do all the work very quickly to a high standard. The staff are extremely helpful and friendly – I would definitely recommend going here.

  • Laura Congi

Excellent service. Got my own bike and my children's bikes from this shop, great quality and staff so helpful and professional. Each time I go there, I know there will be someone who will help me. I am a very satisfied client for many years and I would never go anywhere else. Highly recommended!

  • Pablo Gorham

It's great to have 2WG as your local bike shop. The team are super friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. I brought in my turbo trainer for a cassette swap and they sorted it out on the spot, for much less than what other shops in the area are charging. Highly recommended, thanks again guys!

  • A B

Lovely little bike shop, with lots of bike stuff in there. The girl in the shop helped me find the right helmet and she was very helpful and friendly, especially as I'm new to the world of cycling. Her helpfulness has encouraged me to go out and ride my bike much more often.

  • Stuart Chambers

I went in to get a headset installed on my frame. The guys in the shop pressed the head set on the spot, for a fair price, I couldn't have had better service. There are friendly and approachable staff who know what they are doing here, I would definitely recommend this shop.

  • zachary cohen warburton

Really friendly service and happy to help me, gave me good advice on how to solve my problems, they also tightened my pedals and gave me a fitting stemcap free of charge. Very nice people devoted to their jobs and happy to help. Would recommend for any bike related issues.

  • Karyn Pulley

I recently bought a Surly touring bike from Two Wheels Good. They had everything I needed to make my six week bike trip a success. The team gave me options for the bike, as well as great advice and tips. Always friendly and helpful; the service was great. Highly recommend.

  • Chris Hayes

Have been bringing my road, commuter and kids bikes here for many years and seen me through thousands of miles of bike journeys the length of Britain, Alps and Pyrenees. Jonathan and Paddy are total professionals and always helpful. Could not recommend them highly enough.

  • Levent Yalcin

I visited Two Wheels twice. First time I was in a rush but my chain broken. Second was for a simple but really specific cassette spacer earlier today. They helped me with care and they're super nice people. I can definitely say my both experiences were excellent. …

  • Tony Graham

After the service, post lockdown, my ageing Genesis Ridgeback flies along smoothly, quietly and swiftly like a new bike. Excellent service! I’m just about to pick it up after its month-later free check which is itself a sign of the care and integrity of TWG.

  • Calum Campbell

The guys in here are the absolute best. Nicest and most trustworthy bike shop in London. My bike is worth over £1000 I reckon and I have absolutely no doubts leaving it with them for repairs or whatever work it needs. They're also just really decent blokes.

  • Lucie Eaton

Really impressive and fast service on my road bike, very knowledgeable staff. I'm a bit of a cycling novice but felt I was in very safe hands with Two Wheels Good, who were patient when I asked a lot of questions and general customer service was great.

  • Alan Gosnell

Superb to have such an amazing bike shop in the neighbourhood. We ordered a Tern GDS Cargo bike, great experience and the team are very knowledgable. I also have the general servicing done here, remember to book as they're super busy. …

  • Sophie Vickers

Needed a very urgent tyre replacement for my Tokyo bike - they have unusual sized wheels and Two Wheels Good were the only shop in the area to stock them. They were able to replace the tyres quickly with great service as always. Highly recommend.

  • Mumin E. T-U

Really helpful and informative staff! I came thinking i had a burst inner tube but it was actually just the air valve that was not screwed in. A 1 minute job. The staff kindly fixed it free of charge, very much appreciated . thank you …

  • Julia Isopp

Took my bike there recently and got a part replaced super quickly - could pick it up the same day! My bike was running so smoothly on my way home, very happy with the service. Will definitely come by again in case of any issues or concerns. :)

Two Wheels Good - one of the best and easily one of the most useful shops on Church St - a really excellent service with friendly, efficient and highly skilled staff. A brilliant local business, we are lucky to have you in the neighbourhood.

  • Filipe Zuluaga

Had a really positive experience today following a puncture. I was given a quick time estimate as well as a reasonable cost for the repair. The work itself was flawless and as promised and the staff were very friendly. Highly recommended!

  • Barnaby Reynolds

This is a proper bike shop, run by guys who know and love bikes. I took a 20 year old bike in for some serious TLC, they found and fitted what it needed and now it rides like new. The price was reasonable to. I'd go back again and again.

  • Bas Falconer

Amazing bike shop. Super friendly and knowledgeable. I've been coming here for 15 years. The bad reviews are hilarious, the usual uppity one star brigade. Just ignore them if you are normal person.
