With the pandemic I've been looking to shop local. The experience of ordering the books was a breeze. Within a few business days, I got confirmation for pick-up and headed to the Forest Hill location. That's where my experience turned south. Because their door was locked, they ask that you call. No problem - at this point I'm a curb-side pick-up pro and don't mind. I call and stand at the door for a few minutes in the rain. I can see both of the workers, and felt like one of them could see me, but perhaps they were busy. Finally, someone comes to the door to help me, but they can't find my order. Could be a mix-up (I do show my email confirmation), so still no problem. Finally they find an order with reverse numbering, do not check the contents, asks if its mine, and assuming its been a mix-up I take it. Before I can say anything, he's turned around and locked the door. With COVID, I can understand. But where the experience really turns south, is that my books are in a brown paper bag, and it's pouring rain. By the time I've gotten a few stores down the bag is soaked. I go back to the store hoping they might have plastic bag (I know stores are not required, but with paper books it could be helpful - heck I'm even willing to purchase a reusable bag), but no one comes to the door. But they do walk past the door, and look my way several times. Luckily, I went to a nearby shoppers and got a plastic bag, but by the time I got home, my books were in fact wet. I'd love to support this shop again, but please do better.

They are managing well during the COVID19 situation. 2 people at a time. So be prepared to wait - as this isn't a coffee shop, folks might take a bit to browse. Best to do curb side pick up if you know what you want. Helpful staff. Calling ahead is a good idea. The interiors are pristine and nice children's section with socially important topics. Hope can browse when the shop opens properly

Type Books is one of the best book stores in the city, all the branches. Love the owners and the people that work there and we all love books. Choices is displays and curation of books are thoughtful and inspire me all the time to read more and think more. Self a favour and go to the one on Bloor the one in Spadina Village and share the bibliophilia. It's contagious

Always very helpful and knowledgeable staff. Great place to go for Christmas since they are great at suggesting the perfect book. (I was a hero with the suggestion they gave for my father in law a few Christmases ago. He almost finished it during his visit.) Also they do mystery boxes. …

Gorgeous little book shop- could happily spend an hour browsing in this place for all ages. Staff so so helpful- recommended a book for my daughter starting to read and it’s a hit- she is reading a lot of it independently- thanks again will definitely be back!

Inside of this store is beautiful! Taking two stars off because the service was not very good. I’ve been in quite a few times, and have not been greeted once. Nonetheless I would go back because it is a nice local bookstore and the selection is eclectic!

Like the other two TYPE stores, this is just a great little gem of a store! The staff KNOWS their books! You can't go wrong with coming here. Give them a few hints and clues and your past favorites, and they will be able to recommend anything.

Great bookstore with excellent staff and cosy atmosphere. Make sure you ask for book recommendations - I bought some of the best books I’ve ever read at this store thanks to their advice.

Great place, walked in 20 min before closing, asked for a slightly obscure recommendation and walked out with a great book 5 minuets later. They also have a great selection of cards.

Good selection of books and finely curated gift items. Always happy to support a local business and Type is the sort of independent bookstore that Toronto is lucky to have.
