I booked a reservation at this uhaul location to reserve a cargo van that I was going to use to move from my previous residence. Upon arrival I was informed that my paper state-issued drivers license would not be an acceptable drivers license and was refused the van that I reserved. This practice is completely unacceptable and has me concerned for multiple reasons. A state issued paper license is a legally binding contract. I was explicitly informed by the local license office that this paper can not be written on nor cut as it is a legal contract and is accepted anywhere a drivers license would normally be accepted because it has the same information; DL number, address, etc. I’m not a lawyer but I certainly question the legality of an entity (Uhaul) denying an individual service based upon their practice of refusing a valid state-issued license. By not allowing people with paper temporary licenses (Ya know, the people that just changed their address during a move or renewed) the ability to rent a van, you're denying a large group of could-be profit makers for your business. Seems fairly illogical to run a business that rents moving vans but then alienates that specific demographic. To put all of this in perspective as to how averse this location was to using a temporary license, the gentleman wouldn’t even look at the license. I had to inform him of its legality and legitimacy multiple times and then asked to speak to a manager. The gentlemen made a phone call to his manger, much of which I could hear. The gentlemen read the information on the license to his manager and the manager still denied to rent me the van. Hoping this was a fluke I called 3 other locations that all confirmed they would not have an issue renting to somebody with a valid state-issued paper temporary license. So it seems that this incident is isolated to this location and is systemic to its management. The icing on the cake is that during this whole process the gentleman at the front counter made changes to my account and now my name is completely incorrect on correspondence I receive from uhaul. Not just a typo, completely incorrect. To say that I feel patronized and criminalized through this experience is an understatement. I was treated as if I was providing falsified documentation and there were strong undertones of distrust and that I was trying to get away with something. The gentlemen informed me to return with somebody who had a “Valid License.” To which I responded “Sir, my license is valid.” My information was legitimate and legal and I shouldn’t have been denied service. I’ve rented from uhaul multiple times in the past and this is by far the worst experience I’ve had. I’d like to say that I’ll rent from uhaul again, but thats very unlikely. One thing is for certain, I will never go back to this location. Sincerely somebody who was just trying to give you legitimate business.
Reserved online with an appliance hand truck. Picked up at 9am and they asked how long I planned on having it and how many miles I planned on driving. I answered honestly 8 hours and 40 miles. They said that’s fine, and that they close at 7, so I have a buffer if I don’t get it back by 5. Then they couldn’t find an appliance hand truck and I spent 2 hours calling and driving to different locations to find an available hand truck (because the phone calls went unanswered or was put on hold and then disconnected). Finally bought a hand truck because I couldn’t find one to rent. Now I’m running behind, not entirely because of the trouble finding a hand truck, but I understood the rental was priced for 24 hours and the 5pm return time was just a place holder for their paperwork. So I called and thought I was giving them a courtesy notice that I won’t have it back before they close today. Their respond, “you agreed to 5pm, and we have someone picking it up at 5pm. You can’t return it at 7pm, and certainly not tomorrow. You can either keep to your agreement or we’ll have to charge you extra”. Their wording was more polite. So, 1-star for not having the equipment I specifically drove to their location for, and for having this policy that I believe leads a customer to believe they have a full 24 hours to use the truck without making it clear that they’re trying to lock you in to return it sooner or pay extra charges; otherwise I would have said I need it until 9am tomorrow, and if I bring it back sooner, yay for everyone. Also, for all the locations not answering their phones and hanging up on callers. I understand they’re busy, so I would expect them to have a better process for handling calls and online reservations (cannot rent a dolly online unless you’re doing it as part of a whole truck rental)
I was looking for a convenient storage solution with 24-hour access close to my house. Based on the information I found on U-Haul's website for 6610 Burnet Road, Austin, Texas 78757, I picked this location. U-Haul’s website states this location provides “Monday through Sunday 24-Hour Storage Access.” I signed up for my unit on-line, went to the location to finish my paperwork, loaded my stuff into the unit, and THEN was told that storage access was limited to 10pm. I mentioned in the office that the website stated the access to the units was 24-hours, and he disputed this and said that that only referred to contact access. I returned to my office and looked up the information again to verify what I had originally saw on U-Haul’s website. It, in fact, U-Haul's website does say this location offers 24-hour storage access. This false advertising is completely unacceptable, and was a colossal waste of my time and effort to get over there. Luring consumers in with promises of things that your franchisees are unwilling to participate in just isn’t cool.
I was please with the service that I receive Saturday evening with Josh. Upon returning the truck, I wasn't told anything or had no problems. I get a call Monday morning from a lady concerning the gas tank being a little under 1/4 of a tank. I advised her that I would come in after I got off work to take care of it. 5 minutes late I got a call from the site manager going off on me about the same situation I had just spoke to the lady about. Stating that was going charge me more money and was going apply these charges for me returning the truck late. All equipment was turned in before the site even closed on Sunday. Long story short communicate with your staff members before flying off the handle making customers jump out of character. I will never use this location again. Sorry Josh, nothing against you. You were very good.
The lady on the front desk was super nice and accommodating. 10 footer truck was clean and all equipment and supplies I rented online were already in the truck when I got there. I promised to return after four hours but did not expect to finish move out after 6 hours. Half an hour before their office closed, the lady called me politely. She told me that if I could not return the truck that night, I could return it the next morning before 10 am with no extra charge. The truck was booked by another customer at 10 am the next morning. So it was very understandable. I was able to return the truck five minutes before they closed and she did not charge me extra at all. I definitely will come back to this location on the next move in of my daughter apartment.
At first I thought this was a great service. We picked up a trailier in Denton TX and dropped it off a day early at the Burnet location. A staff member came up to our vehicle and unhooked it and drug it to the side. We didn't have to get out of the car. A couple of days later we found out they double charged us for the rental. I called to get it reversed and the staff member acted like he would do something but it's been 2 weeks and it still hasn't been reversed. I called today and they said it showed I turned in the trailer late. I turned it in a day early. They are now saying they are crediting my card. I will see. If not I will be getting in touch with the credit card company to dispute the charge.
I disagree with the negative reviews! We rented a truck, and had a great experience. The move was tougher than expected, and we returned the truck a few minutes late. I've rented at other places in the past and they've always charged for the extra day even if you're one minute late. The staff here was understanding, cut us slack on the extra 15 minutes, and were really helpful during check-out. The truck was in great shape, and the staff was helpful and courteous throughout the process. I've rented elsewhere many times before, and this was a much better experience.
Moving is already stressful and somehow Uhaul managed to be by far the worst part. I booked weeks in advance, checked in online the day prior, and got to Uhaul right when they opened for a 7am pickup. They still didn’t have my order and made me drive to the Ben White location who STILL didn’t have my order and made me drive to the Slaughter Lane location. This wasted 2.5 hours and ensured we would be moving through the hottest part of the late-June day. The only compensation they offered was giving us a few extra hours with the trailer. Ridiculous.
This was the absolute BEST U-Haul experience I've had across multiple locations country-wide. In a world where good customer service is hard to find, Kevin and his team were a breath of fresh air. They were kind, joyful, and helped me get my reservation earlier than expected. The equipment was spotless and basically brand new. This location isn't the closest for me but I will exclusively be coming back here for any future rental needs.
Vehicle they rented out had a lot of problems. Headlights flickering on and off, no dashboard lights so I had no idea what speed I was going, ramp was off its track and took 30+ min to repair and when I brought it in they tried to gaslight me and tell me there was nothing wrong with the entire vehicle after pulling the ramp out and shoving it back in once. No duh the ramp works now, I just spent 30 min fixing it...
BEWARE when storing long term!!! I had MANY MANY items stolen from my unit. I suspect “own site owner”& employees! Dirtbags & thieves! They had replaced my original lock so I had no key. When I got locksmith to open my unit it was 2/3 empty! The lights were out & manager stated they didnt have large replacement light bulbs. I had paid thousands of $$$ to store my things there & most of any value were GONE!!!!!
The staff on the phone extremely helpful. The young man who took me on a tour was patient and thorough. The store manager is a breath of fresh air she is helpful, knowledgeable, respectful. Amy(store mr.) and her staff have a life long customer. I sincerely thank you and your staff for providing me outstanding service in a stressful time.
I run a small business in Austin . When my truck broke down and I had jobs that had to get done I knew I could rely on uhaul. The store was clean and nice. I believe the managers name is heather. Was very impressed with how helpful she and the rest of the staff was. Headache and hassle free!!
Best Uhaul experience I've ever had! The woman who helped us was friendly and helpful, patient too. I've rented many Uhauls in my adult life and this was by far the fastest, most seamless process I've had. I will definitely be back next time I need to rent a truck. So easy and painless!
I've rented a truck a couple times from this UHaul location and each has been a smooth process. Staff always friendly and helpful. Moving boxes here might not be the absolute cheapest, but they're close. And better quality than those at a similar price point at places like WalMart.
The best storage I've ever seen. Clean, nicely located, with very polite and friendly management. Overall the place feels very secure, the units are neat and make the impression of solidly guarded. The air conditioned units are wonderful in the heat of Texas summer.
I stopped by to get a box with specific dimensions and packing peanuts. I The gentleman who helped did not offer to carry anything and just sort of waved in the general direction of what I needed. I ended up spending a lot of money on a box that was too big.
Both rental and return were a breeze. Vehicle was ready for pickup right when the location opened as we had scheduled. Took us less than 5 minutes to be on our way. Both employees were very courteous. Paid almost exactly what I expected to pay.
Ask them if your vehicle will have a full tank of gas when you get it. I got one with 1/4 tank, so had to find a gas station immediately, and then it's hard to calculate how much gas to put in so I ended up over-paying for gas I didn't use.
It's frustrating to check their hours and drive there 40 minutes before their closing time and find out they don't want to refill a propane tank (a 2 minute task) because the guy who fills the tanks decided he felt like closing it early.
What an amazing experience! The most delightful service ever. Especially Lory! She is a breath of fresh air!! I never imagined my mood would be lighter and brighter after visiting a U-Haul facility on a 108 degree day. Ha! Thank you!
Erika made this whole process super easy and went above and beyond to make sure that I was comfortable with the rental truck that I received. Moving is never fun and she made it easier by making my truck pick up super easy.
Visited location today and the woman attending the front desk was very rude. Very unattentive and short, the people that uhaul seems to hire are unqualified for their position with little to no customer service experience.
Matt, and the rest of the staff, get 1 star because we can not get zero or a negative number. Service and communication are great negatives that cancel out a great corporate setting and nice facility.
Went in for a trailer hitch installation for my Subaru Forester and they did a great job! Amazing customer service and got it done in a timely matter. Highly recommend!
Erika Ray, the general manager, is very professional and helpful, thank you very much, the check in was smooth and the car was clean and ready to go. Yuhsin & Cristian
Heather and her team are outstanding! They always make the moving process less stressful. If you live in or near North Austin, then I highly recommend this location.
Best U-Haul location. Erica really went above and beyond to be accommodating in several recent rentals. Remote pickup/dropoff and in person are both great here.
I used this place for storage for a year as well as rented trucks a few times. Very courteous staff and clean safe facility and vehicles.
I love buying boxes here. They are super sturdy and you can buy way more than you think you need and just return what isn't used.
Manager was helpful and rental van was very clean (and new). But the checkout process was a lot longer than it should have been.
They go the distance to help you. They made my moving day as painless as possible by all the equipment ready and on time.
I've rented from a lot of U-Hauls before, but this is by far the best service I've ever received. Highly recommend.
Very clean. Excellent staff willing to work with you and work for you believe it or not. Highly recommended.
Location was really clean and quick. It was a drop and go with the Uhaul and the staff was very helpful.
The showroom was very dirty. It don't look like the floors have been swept for quite a while.
In & out, great cust svc. Truck we rented ran a little hard, but completed the job.
Heather was so nice and helpful to us while renting and hooking up a trailer.
Very helpful but could be more organized with the amount of staff they have.
Told me about ordering boxes online blew my mind. Clean and very helpful
