This location is really well run. If you can, see Crystal Green for anything and everything you need. Moving sucks as we all know. Moving when everything has gone wrong, is even worse. Crystal turned one of the worst days I've had since Lockdown happened, into one of the easiest horrible days I've ever had, to the extent that it ended up being an honestly great day. Every issue that arose she fixed and she did so with a smile and a helpful idea of how to make it better, easier, cheaper, less complicated, and so on. She gave me back my faith in humanity. And the location incidentally, is also very well run, very clean, easy access to carts to move stuff and other than elevators that can be a bit maddening if they don't like your code (someone will come let you out, pretty quickly...), navigating the building is easy even with an overstacked cart. The storage spaces are clean and well kept (just wish they had lighting) and the hallways are immaculate and finding your storage space is easy. There's also a huge variety of spaces from small to large and bottom lockers to top ones for small lockers and everything you could need for just a 1 bedroom to a whole apartment. I really am grateful to them and to Crystal specifically. If you need storage, or even just a U-Haul, or both, this is hands down the best experience I've had with any place of this type. Worth every penny.

Seeing I have this location twice this month, I'm glad I waited to do a review. First time, it was a great experience.. Mr. Castro was friendly and helpful, i got in and out without a fail. Now let's talk about the second time. I called the 773 935 number, the site states that it is the number to the location. I was told that I need to make a appointment to be able to tow a car with them, so even tho I work overnight, I had my sister drive her car from norridge to this location, and I met her. The appt. Was set for 1pm. When we arrived we were stopped in the parking, stating that we couldnt park in the lot, when I said we were their for a inspection, they stated that they had no record of it, and I couldn't park there. I told them I had to speak to a manager, and that the inspection needs to happen, two more workers walked up, and still were trying to get me to leave, I started to get mad, they gave in and told me to go inside. When I got inside, I was told by the manager that, the number I called was corporate, that they never told them about the inspection, and that I didnt even need a inspection in advanced in the first place. Soooooooo why was I pretty much bullied in the lot I asked.... she stated she doesnt know what happened, but next time come in and ask instead of calling. Thanks for wasting my time uhaul... gotta love them!

BEWARE OF RENTING FROM U-HAUL! I rented a twenty foot truck to move from Chicago to Texas. The day before U-Haul called me and said they wouldn’t have the truck at the location I rented it (this one) and I would have to pick one up 45 minutes away. I said that was not right, and the guy on the phone said ‘you can get a 15 foot truck at the location you requested.’ I said I needed a 20 foot truck. I was upset and I apologized to him because I knew he was only the messenger. I called the Kedsie location and asked the person if the 20 foot truck would be available for me tomorrow. She said YES. I went to this Lincoln Park location to see if they could do something for me. They could not. I asked to see the 15 foot truck and they asked Carlos, who was sitting behind the counter on his cell phone to show it to me. He looked angry and very bothered that he had to do it. He showed me and I left. Then I called the Kedzie location and talked to a girl who checked my reservation and said I would have a twenty foot truck after 1pm. I felt assured that I would get what I asked for. When I arrived at the Kedzie location I was told that there was no 20 foot truck available for me. I’m standing at the counter right now, was told that I could rent a trailer to go with it, for $690 more! I’m livid. I’m moving tomorrow and don’t know what to do!!

I had an absolutely awful experience here, from start to finish. Never again. I was happy to see they had outdoor, no contact pickup. When I arrived, the app wouldn’t work, and an employee came out and said I had to come inside. Not ideal, not what I signed up for, but fine. Next, the man behind the counter was talking so quietly I couldn’t hear a word he said. After we checked in, he vaguely pointed towards a couple vans, saying that one was ours. I got in what I thought was my van, to have another employee rudely yell at me for getting in the wrong one, and questioning what I was doing in their van. The icing on the cake was that I was told specifically that they had filled the tank to full, and I had to return it full or else I’d get charged a fee and have to pay their inflated price for gas. This was a small van, not a truck, and I drove it for less than 20 miles. It took SIX GALLONS of gas to get it full. There’s no way it was actually all the way full when I picked it up. I didn’t notice because the gas needle was on “F” when I got it, and after I filled it the needle went way above “F”. All in all, I had to go inside when I’m trying to avoid that if possible, I got whispered at, then yelled at, and then ripped off for $20 of gas. Thanks, U-haul!

NO GOOD! I called before I went to pick up a truck asking if I could park my personal vehicle at their location while I do the move. They said yes they could accommodate that. I arrive there and when I get there they said I could NOT park my vehicle. I informed them of the discrepancy between what they told me on the phone and in person, and then politely agreed to street parking. Problem is - street parking is only good for two hours. So halfway between the move I had to drive back to this location to move my car, which put more miles on the van than intended. I informed the manager that I should not be required to pay for the additional miles since his employee gave me wrong information, which is why I had to put extra miles on the van. He refused to refund the cost of additional miles and even told me I should have done a better job planning the move. I was furious at not only the incompetency of his employees, but also the rudeness of the managers behavior, as if it was I who made the mistake. AVOID! Go to different location.

Terrible terrible terrible customer service. I dropped off a truck and car dolly. The representative was friendly, and quickly checked out my drop-off and sent me on my way. I noticed that the drop off receipt only mentioned the U-Haul, but was assured that "sometimes they take some time to come in." The next day, I got a call from U-Haul saying that I had not dropped off the dolly; the phone representative was disconnected during this conversation and U-Haul charged be 40$ for an "extension. " I tried calling this location and calling U-Haul corporate. This location won't even pick up their phone, and it just routes back to the corporate number. I got jumped around departments in corporate, and have currently wasted one and a half hours on this mess. if you drop off at this location, DONT LEAVE UNTIL YOU HAVE ALL OF YOUR DROP-OFF RECEIPTS. Also make sure that the receipt you get mentions ALL of your rentals. Waiting at the location for that "20 minutes" would have saved me hours of time on the phone.

Would rather give them no stars. They are so slow and it seems like they never know what they're doing. All I wanted to do is rent a moving truck the process took forever. Arrived at 4pm didn't get to leave until 6pm then they told us if we weren't back by 7am with the truck my mom's credit card would be charged. We returned the truck the same night and my mom was still charged. It took forever to straighten that mess out. And when I tried to pay they thought I was paying for a unit. I went through the hassle of trying to rent a truck I can't imagine what it would be like to rent a unit. I rented a storage unit down the street 8 blocks away at The Public Storage. Only took me 15 minutes to do that. Wow.

The people here are crooks. I only drove the truck 14 miles and put 2.5 gallons of gas in the tank (the truck gets up to 12 mpg according to the site). I returned it with more gas than I left with and over 1/4 tank. I made sure it was 1/4. They then billed me an extra 60+ dollars saying I returned it with 1/8 tank. I called and returned to the facility. They confirmed with me it was 1/4 tank. They said only the manager on Monday could refund me. I called Monday and got the run around. They said they would leave a ticket for the manager. It more than doubled my rental cost. They are deceptive and will overcharge you. Buyer beware.

Warning: DO NOT USE THIS STORE! Staff is extremely rude and accosted me outside in the parking lot when I was dropping off my sister to pick up a rental. When I told him I was dropping someone off and leaving he asked if I was sure and stood outside of my window after honking at me twice from inside of a van. Manager was alerted and reported “he was right you’re not supposed to be in the lot”. No apology or remediation for the employee who harassed us or anything. If you want horrible service and staff who refuses to take accountability for their actions then this is the store for you!

I have used this location 4 times and would honestly recommend to anyone. It's a well-run operation, trucks/vans are in great shape, and the service is exceptional. The employees at service desk and lot have always been extremely helpful and professional. It is a great value if you follow their guidelines.... From the other reviews on this (probably early 20-somethings), make your reservations on-line (vs phone) and show up early AM (weekends are their busy time, obviously). Told me national system is down and that they can't do anything to rent me trailer. Uhaul customer service said otherwise. Employees and management took zero initiative to help rent a trailer. Had to cancel movers last minute and now get to spend another $1000+ and get new movers to complete my move. Unbelievably frustrating to see 10+ Uhaul employees and all the trucks and trailers in the world just sitting around while my moving plans get screwed over. Do better uhaul and have a backup when systems fail (as they invariably do).

I saw that there were some mixed opinions about this place and since it was my first time getting a U-Haul I was a little nervous, but everything honestly went so well. The staff was kind and efficient, the prices were fair, I had them fill the gas when I got back because I didn’t have time to deal with it and they didn’t overcharge me at all or take advantage of it. No unfair or hidden fees, either. Super happy overall and would use this location again!

I was planning to move out. I reserved my 15 foot box truck 5 days before needing it. I spent an hour in line at 7 am just for them to tell me that my reservation was in elmhurst and I showed the worker multiple confirmations I had that my pick up was indeed the one in Lincoln park. He told me there was nothing he could do even though I have had a reservation for 5 days. Horrible customer service and wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.

Went in a few times to this location most of the staff was very helpful but definitely a few bad apples in my opinion. Went in to get a riser for a hitch and was looked at like i was nuts. Was told the didnt have it but we i looks around low and behold there was one. Ended up still renting a trailer from here but it was filthy inside, not sure if these go through any cleaning but think that would be something that should be done.

Horrible. Takes way too long to get someone on the phone to help. I was hung up on twice the second I connected with someone. Made reservations a month ago to rent a truck for Sunday morning. They called me 3 days before saying the soonest they could get me the truck is 4:30pm. This isn’t possible with my scheduled move out time. Do not book with UHaul. They are not transparent about their availability even one month in advance.

Returned a rental here after dropping off my daughter in her new apartment in downtown Chicago. The on-line drop off utility is really simple. Truck ran great from Cleveland to Chicago... although they should warn you the vehicle is speed limited to 75. On the Turnpike it's occasionally desirable to get past trucks with a little more than 75 mph! Or at least know you don't have anything left after 75!!!

Overall experience with rental truck was good. One big complaint was having to buy the $5 road hazard if I wanted to buy insurance for $15. No where is it said on website and it is not mandated when I spoke to UHaul customer service. Still waiting for their explanation. Did the location just make that rule up, very suspect. Feel deceived at that location. Anyway, I'm waiting for my refund.

I drove in from Indiana with 10 minutes until close. They were more than happy to help remove my car from the car transport, disconnect the trailer and assist me with after hours drop off. The staff was extremely helpful and pleasant even at the end of their Sunday shift. I would recommend this place over and over which is why I dont understand all of the negative reviews.

Organization and efficiency set this uhaul location apart. We reserved a truck ahead of time and rented blankets upon arrival - it was somewhat busy and we were in and out in under 10 minutes. Drop off was easy as could be. Staff certainly goes above and beyond, everyone seemed to be enjoying their Saturday. Definitely made our move a little easier!

I would give 5 stars for service and the way the employees handle people and questions. They helped me make several changes to my reservation in under 5 minutes. They offered tips and valid suggestions. They were awesome. The only snag is the wait at opening. They needed more people working, but not better. Best rental facility I've ever used!

Great Staff! Friendly Help! Not sure why all the bad rep. I reserved online and read the reviews and prepared myself. However, much to my surprise everyone was friendly ,quick and helpful. I got a clean vehicle,I was well prepared and packed ,ready to go. Returned the vehicle in same condition, on time. Easy Check out. This was my experience !

The best rental location of any brand in my experience. The employees were helpful and patiently answered my questions. They even made useful and valid suggestions. The only knock was the delay in line to get the trailer, because one person ran it all. He was still excellent. In fact, all employees were outstanding!

I was pretty shocked by the bad reviews. I had an amazing experience from the first phone call to reserve, all the way to the return. The van was perfect and drove well. Larry was so helpful and friendly-he checked me in and helped me avoid waiting in line. Awesome experience and I would definitely use them again!

My experience at this U-Haul location was amazing due to the help and patience of Crystal Green. When we tried to self service with the app at a different location we could not figure it out but when we got to this in person location we got in and out with our vehicle super quickly with ease. Literally never again - placed a simple delivery order (required by ecomm). For whatever reason could not get half the order delivered to me (why? COULD NOT tell you). Everyone I spoke to made it clear it wasn’t their problem. Purchase from Home Depot and Penske.

Daughter at DePaul had to move apartment. They couldn't have made it easier to schedule everything online and everything was ready just as planned 8am day of. Friendly staff, easy return. No issues at all and highly recommended. Whole move cost us about $40.

Carlos and Crystal are the best. They were very helpful , they spoke loud and clear when giving directions. Carlos had the best smile by far for customer service greeting. He was nice . He deserves a Christmas bonus ,and so does Crystal.

This uhaul was great! I ended up just getting an appliance dolly for some house work. It wasn’t crazy quality but it got the job done and more! It’s always safe to go uhaul when you don’t have the right moving equipment.
