Used U-pack for an 1,800 mile cross-country move. We chose them over U-haul, PODS and other services as they were competitively priced (more affordable then hauling the things ourselves in a U-haul), and allowed us several days to load the trailer on our own, and then they picked it up when we were ready. They also provided us a good window of time to have it delivered based on our schedule without any extra fees. Their shipping estimates were accurate and our shipment arrived on time, actually early, but it was not a problem storing it a few days. They charge by the linear foot, so be sure to stack to the ceiling if you can - they will adjust the price if you end up using less space than estimated. They provided some ratchet straps to help secure boxes, but you may need more for extra security. They also provided a hand-truck which you will need for loading up and down the big long ramp. Used 17 feet of the trailer, which they fenced off with a large wood board once we it was filled, then they used the rest of the space to transport another shipment behind our load. The customer service was top-notch. They called days and hours before arrival to be sure we knew exactly when they would arrive. They were courteous, and respectful to take care of dropping the ramp in a way that it didn't damage our driveway or street. Drivers were friendly and accommodating at both delivery and pickup in both states. The only issue we had was some of our boxes/shipment arrived coated in a dark soot-like powder which did smudge all over the boxes and anything it touched. We did not realize this until we brought the boxes/totes into the house and set them on the carpet and then smudged our new carpet with black soot. eek. Best guess is the soot probably fell from the huge dirty roller-door that slides open on the ceiling of the trailer, which overhangs over your stuff when they open and close the trailer. I imagine all the road grime gets all over the door while in transit (ours especially since it was snowy/rain over the course of the 1,800 mile journey) and hinges which in turn drops all over the top layer of items in the trailer. I would highly recommend covering the top layer of your load with a large sheet/plastic wrap so when it arrives you can remove it first and contain a lot of the staining dust particles that may have landed on your things in transit. Be sure to use furniture padding along the walls of the trailer too, they are rough with metal tracks and will rub if your load is not very secure/padded. Also, check all the bases of your boxes/furniture and wipe them good before bringing them in your home - ours were very dirty from the trailer floor as well. We didn't have a single broken item from this experience, and were quite impressed withe entire process of using U-pack, would use them again and recommend them to anyone. Good luck on your next move.
We moved from TN to CT and the whole process was a nightmare. The day it was supposed to be delivered we were given a window of 12-4. We’ll 4:30 rolls around and still nothing so we call and they tell us “he’s on his way to you.” Ok, so we wait some more and then another hour rolls by and we call again and are told the same thing. Then another hour rolls by and we call and I asked where exactly he was. We were told he is at one stop, then has another and then will come to me. So he REALLY wasn’t one his way to us the first time we called which is upsetting because we sat around all day! Finally he comes at 730 with the storage bin and my husband and I are in shock! When booking the upack we expressed to the reps what we had to make sure we had the right size box. This thing was tiny! Well the next day the movers came and were able to jam as much as they could into the box but we still ended up having to get rid of our living room set and put some stuff in a friends garage until we find out what to do with it. The next day which was the day we were driving up to CT we get a phone call that they wouldn’t be able to pick up the container until Monday because they didn’t have enough drivers. We were upset but we had a lot on our plate so we just went with it. Flash forward to this week. The storage bin was in the same location for 3 days! When we called we get the excuse that they are backed up and we probably wouldn’t get it until this weekend. We were almost at 2 weeks since We have seen our belongings. I did talk to a supervisor who expediated the process a little bit but it took me many phone calls to get to him. So this morning I call to get it shipped from their storage facility to my home. I wanted it Saturday but they don’t work on weekends so I ask if they can do it today. The lady I spoke with said that they may not be able to because of the weather, ITS RAINING! You’re telling me they don’t drive in the rain? On top of that she tells me their forklift is in maintenance because they “thought it was a good day to send to maintenance.” I think she finally got the tone of my voice and said, “ well it sounds like you really need the upack so I’ll see what I can do later on.” Umm yah I need the upack it has my belongings in it and it’s been 2 weeks!! Well, they finally call my husband a few hours later and schedule for drop off today. We got it so I guess that’s the most important thing but it was a fight every step of the way!
Would not recommend - the savings are not worth the headaches. What we were told during the sales call (all good promises) versus what was actually available were complete opposites. For example, we were told that the destination depot would have a precise window for dropping off our container, but in reality, this "window" was from 8am to 8pm, which made it so that we could not schedule movers to unload the truck until the following day. We were also unable to schedule the dropoff until the container was received in Nashville at the depot, which was different from what the sales person told us in that we could call when it was a day away from Nashville and schedule delivery. As such, the "4-6 business day estimate" was really more like 9 business days. Further, immediately upon the container being dropped off on Wednesday, we called back and scheduled pickup for Thursday afternoon, which was confirmed by dispatch. On Thursday after the container was emptied that morning, we again called back and were told it would be picked up on Thursday. When it was still there at 6pm, we called dispatch and were told it would instead be picked up on Friday (which finally occurred this morning). Due to the unexplained delay in pickup, we were visited by the Nashville PD last night as a neighbor had called about the random container sitting on the street that night, which was less than a fun experience. Our U-Pack experience seemed like a bait-and-switch experience from what we were promised on the sales phone call versus what we actually received. The "4-6 day delivery" was actually a "4-6 business day delivery estimate", a fact that one rude customer service agent pointed out to me was in our contract - a contract that was just quickly shown to my wife for signature when the container was being dropped off at our house (already too late to do anything else for our move). Many promises were limited by the capacity of the destination depot, which was never something we were told we may have to factor for, as the U-Pack sales agent made it seem like U-Pack's services were the same across the board. Other unexplained circumstances included the fact that the container was picked up in Grand Junction, CO on Monday morning, but then sat in Denver, CO (a city 3.5 hours away from Grand Junction) for the next 4 days until it left for Kansas City. As such, there was never a chance it would be delivered in 4 days, let alone 6 business days.
From Day 1 I was always able to reach a person on the phone right away. Everyone I spoke with was knowledgeable about the process and they answered all my questions with clarity. When the driver dropped off the 28ft truck he was friendly and showed me how to setup the ramp, the bulkhead and how to lock and secure the trailer. Once the trailer was packed, they picked up on time and arrived to our cross country destination only 1 day behind our arrival. The tracking site worked in real time and was updated staus of where the trailer was every time I checked it. (The estimated arrival was 10-14 business days, but our trailer arrived to the local station in just 5 days.) I scheduled the drop off of the truck and the rep. Cheri T. was very helpful and courteous. When the truck was dropped off it was pouring rain the driver was courteous even though he got a bit wet setting up the truck. It took an extra day to pick-up the empty trailer due to a shortage of drivers that day, but not a big deal. Upack was EXCELLENT all the way. It is a bit pricey of a service, but their pricing was still competitive to everyone else, moving cross country is just expensive, and they did a great job. Some people complain about damage to their stuff in shipment, but that is all in the packing. Everything we packed was in sturdy boxes, properly stacked to the ceiling and strapped in. And it all arrived in great condition. I Highly Recommend these guys!! Thank you UPACK for a great move!!
When we found out we were moving I did tons of research to try and find a moving company. All of the quotes I received for an out of state move for the size of our house were upwards of 8k, and that was without packing service. Since we knew we were going to pack our own stuff but didn’t want to go the Uhaul route, I called U-Pack and they were the perfect people for the job. Every time I needed to call U-Pack to ask a question or get an update on something, they were responsive, professional, fast, and kind. Not only were they able to move us 800 miles away for significantly cheaper (less than half the quoted price from than other moving companies), the move itself was incredibly smooth and easy. U-Pack coordinates with a company called Moving Staffers in the event you need hourly moving labor. I was able to easily get in touch with the Moving Staffers company and they found the best price for hourly labor to load the truck, and the people they had come out new how to load the U-Pack container and secure the doors. Overall we had a great experience with U-Pack. I would highly recommend considering them for any move, I know we will definitely be using them again in the future. They were able to save us money, but they also made our move easy and less stressful.
Beyond satisfied with U-Pack!! Very competitive quote, you pay for what you use on their semi trailer. I didn't use what I got a estimate for, so I actually got credited for using less space. They text you a link for your shipment, so I can see the shipping status. They called to confirm my trailer drop off time. After loading, I used the link, clicked "Ready for Pickup", they picked up within hours. Used the link, I was able to see where my shipment was and the next leg of the trip. I paid for the "Guaranteed Delivery Date", my stuff actually arrived ahead of schedule! No damage, no leaks! They called to confirm drop off time at my new home. Unloaded, used the link to confirm trailer is ready for final pick up, and they picked up the empty trailer within hours. This experience was worth every penny to use their trailer and let them do the driving. No hidden fees, no price increases! They met every promise given. I'm never using Uhaul again. Definitely a ABF customer for the rest of my moves!! Thank you so much ABF/U-Pack!!!!!
I used upack in 2021 and had a great experience with the relo-cube and customer service. My experience this year, however, was not great. They were unable to provide a relo-cube for my move, and I was delivered a 15 ft trailer instead. No one from upack could help me get a permit to park the trailer in front of my house, which was difficult to figure out. I was also expected to assemble the large heavy ramp to the trailer and the barriers inside the truck. This is basically impossible for a single person with average strength. The truck was also filthy when it arrived. Although I swept it out the best I could, my furniture and boxes were disgusting when they arrived. I wish the information about the trailer had been explained to me verbally before the move, and I wish it had been clean. Customer service was good overall, but I do not recommend using upack if they offer you a semi trailer, especially as a single person. The relo-cube was much easier.
My husband and I had a horrible experience with upack/Abf. I ask for an early morning drop of while reserving our reservation weeks in advance. The morning of drop off day, called and they said since I did not pay for the Guaranteed timeslot that there was no guarantee of any particular time. Not once did the sales rep mentioned that to me prior to. Secondly the time slot they have was 4-7...the truck didn’t show up until 9:30. We had to send our helping hands home due to wasting their time. Once it got here we loaded as much as we could until2:30am due to losing a day and only having two days to load per my husbands job. Not to mention every time I called no one could give me an better eta just that it was coming. The last guy I spoke with was entirely rude over the phone.
We used an entire trailer to move a ridiculous amount of property 1600 miles, including major appliances and a portable spa. I estimate it cost us maybe 1/4 of what a traditional moving company would have charged (we hired our own movers on both ends to save $$ also). It was very lucky for us that we used Upack, because we hit a snag with closing on our new house and needed a month of storage. It was not an issue, they just charged us an extra $500 to put the entire trailer in storage for a month. We packed super carefully and hired good movers, and the only thing that arrived broken was a large flat screen TV. I recommend to make sure that your movers tie down each layer (buy LOTS of rope) and take larger fragile items in your own vehicle.
Absolutely professional! Definitely recommend! Driver called multiple times to ensure that I was informed of his arrival. Even delivered headboard to the bedroom with my husband! Incredible! Went beyond the call of his duty. He ensured that there were no defects on the product, and assisted my husband with carrying the heavy headboard to the bedroom on the second floor! Extremely polite and respectful. I'm so impressed! I've recommended this company to my family and friends! As a matter of fact, I'll be calling after this review because I need assistance with the footboard in Ohio! Definitely calling! Thank you again! I can't remember the last time we had great customer service during these troubling times. Again, thank you and God bless!
We had a great experience with you pack. Customer service was great so was the price the only thing we were surprised about was the size of the cube. We were told you can fit a small one bedroom apartment in it but that was not the case, we had to throw out quite few things and give a way kitchen table, futon and some other things to made it work. We did call and talked about the size and they were great at sending another cube which we would only use part of it, but the price would have gone up around 700.00 dollars and we could not afford that. So over all we were very happy with the accomodations, original prize and customer service just not the size.
Trailer delivered on time and picked up on time. The heavy and awkward divider that you have to put up/take down when finished loading/unloading was extremely difficult to manage if you're unfamiliar with this. I would recommend that they come up with another solution for this as this was the worst part of the move for me or the driver should be responsible for locking down the load with this divider. It's not reasonable for the client to do this and no driver offered to do this for me. I would use again and recommend UPACK in Nashville, TN and Naples, FL but wasn't happy with this divider situation.
Honestly it was a great experience as far as out of state moves go. I have moved twice out of state and this was by far the best value and least hassle for the price. The ONLY complaint I have is with ABF (the trailer company, not Upack). Thy dropped off a trailer that had several holes in the top and several patch spots. It rained all night the first night we had it and a lot of our boxes and some furniture got wet! Too their credit, Upack gave us a credit on the move and a process to file a damage claim for the items. We would definitely use Upack again if/when we ever move again.
We had excellent experience with them. We moved form Nashville to Columbus a week ago. We selected the assured delivery with little extra price and we found that it worked. We received relocube on 03/12/2020 Thursday, loaded on Thursday and they picked it up 03/13/2020 Friday from Nashville. Contained arrived in Columbus, Ohio by Monday 03/17/2020. Our stuff arrived exactly as we had packed. If you took care to pack it scientifically such that they are no spaces for things to fall on each other, things would stay safe and intact. Good luck to all of you with your move.
Going into the move, I had lots of apprehension that I was going the right direction. But the ReloCube was delivered on time(problem was with HOA because I didn't tell them), I packed myself, didn't really have a full load so strapped everything down, Cube arrived earlier than I expected. Nothing moved or was out of place, nothing damaged, Definitely will use again for a move. Everybody with the process was helpful and courteous. Comparable overall cost and way less stress than driving across country with a truck or trailer.
Wonderful price. Great service, grandmas china arrived perfectly. Two things to know...you must wrap and pack your belongings to withstand movement. Both vertical and horizontal. Good packing and loading is key to a successful move. Saved a bundle by packing at drop off point and picking up at destination terminal. Worth the price of a rental trucks. They even stored my belongings at a reasonable rate until I found a place to live. Excellent cross country moving experience. Highly recommend this company and their service!
From start to finish no one could have made moving my daughter's things from Nashville to South Florida any easier. We had to change dates twice and location once and finally had to arrange for pickup at a U-Pack terminal. From my first phone call, and there were many, many more, until she finally took possession of her belongings, everyone could not have been ore courteous, professional and knowledgeable. If I ever need this type of service again be sure I will use U-Pack and I will spread the word. My sincere thanks.
I went with U-pack because they were $500 cheaper than PODs and delivery turn around was much quicker. I needed a cube quick so I called them directly. Anytime I’ve been on the phone with anyone from this company they’ve been super nice and helpful—- even when the drivers called to drop off/pick up they were super friendly. My stuff arrived at my destination on the 3 day end of my 3-5 day delivery window. Nothing was damaged AND they were always on time with deliveries. I will ABSOLUTELY use U-Pack for our next move!
Horrible company. We used to move and made it very clear to call prior to picking up the storage box as we have dogs. The driver did not call to let us know when they were coming and instead left our gate wide open and let our dogs out of the gate. The guy never shut the gate and left it open causing our dogs to run away. SO HORRIBLE DO NOT RECOMMEND USING THIS SERVICE. CARELESS AND UNPROFESSIONAL. We told them we had dogs and to call us before hand and they did not even out a note in the account. Careless.
My son used U Pack cube to move from Nashville to Dallas and his move went very smoothly. U Pack container was dropped off on time and was picked up on time. I highly recommend taking guaranteed two day delivery service by paying a little extra as it is worth it. If you do not have tons of heavy furniture and just have lots of boxes, this is the way to move long distance. He was very pleased with the whole moving experience. I will use U Pack again.
Was a perfect example of terrible service after the sale. They were all over me while I was a prospective customer. Once I signed up for my move they appeared to still be engaged. However, I had two issues after my credit card was charged and POOF, customer service went out the window. I legitimately was going to refer someone to their company, but no way now. Certainly not what someone needs after the stress of a move.
With my job, I have had to move around a lot and I'm so glad i went with U-Pack for my move from PA to Nashville. The staff at ABF which handles U-pack move were so friendly and nice, I was given clear directions and the price was one of the best out there ( trust me, I did my research). Highly recommend them for your move- great staff, honest people, excellent customer service and ships your load safely.
My Upack journey began with Calvin. He was extremely helpful in giving me info, getting my trailer and dates secured, and answering all my questions and emails along the way. And, everything went exactly as I was told it would! Finally, Upack beat out all competitor prices! While I hope I never have to make an out of state move again, if I do, I won’t hesitate to secure Upack to assist me!
Easy and straight-forward! After reading mixed reviews from a number of different moving companies, we decided to go with UPack since it was both cheaper and seemed like less of a gamble (as we were the only ones handling our items). We packed everything ourselves (well, with the help of some friends) and then hired labor for a couple hours at our destination and it all went smoothly!
Amazing first experience with U-Pack! All drivers were great. My ReloCube was delivered to my destination on time and all my belongings were in perfect condition. I liked that I was able to track the cube through the website. Reasonable prices and great customer service. Would definitely use their services again if I need to move over a long distance again.
The move was super easy and affordable. We moved from Nashville, TN to Jacksonville, Fl for about $800. I even had to change my address last minute and there weren't any issues. Everything arrived on time and they picked up my unpacked relocube the next day. I only need one cube to pack up my bedroom, kitchen, classroom materials, and a small deep freezer!
Moving across country is an undertaking I would not wish on Satan. U-pack was an incredible partner in our journey. The original quote never changed and was exactly my charges upon delivery. The office and delivery staff went above and beyond assisting us during the move. I will recommend U-Pack to everyone I know. Thank you for being great at your job!
Easy move with U-Pack. Dropped trailer off loaded it up and then called for pick up. Only problem was bulk head did not function well. Would recommend U-Pack for long cross county moves. If you have to store your trailer for any period of time they do get you there with a 500 dollar fee for one day or 30 days so that part kind of sucks.
I moved from Nashville to Charlotte and my experience was just wonderful. Chris is Nashville worked so well with me and I’m very grateful for that. Rick in Charlotte was equally amazing. The customer service agents were super amazing! I’ll recommend UPack all day, any day!!!! Thank you guys for making my move experience stress free!
I would rather have given 4.5 stars. Those who provide assistance once one receives the empty trailer are the strongest part of the process. Very pleased with that aspect, less so with that before. The “helpfulness” factor is the difference. Overall, so much cost savings vs. full service movers, there is no other choice to make.
Moved from Nashville to Sacramento. I packed my stuff at the terminal and drove cross country. U-Pack arrived in the estimate time frame and my items were in perfect condition. This is the most cost effective way to move. I am planning on using them to move our furniture from FL to Sac soon! Customer service was awesome too!
I couldn’t be happier with upack. Price is MUCH more affordable than PODs. Customer service was professional and responsive. The whole process was effortless and stress free. I paid the extra fee to have a guaranteed delivery day and sure enough our trailer arrived right when they said it would. Highly recommend!!
Having just moved a couple of years ago, I was expecting the worst, but U-Pack/Old Dominion was perfect. The trailer was huge, cost me less than I estimated, and was when and where I needed it for pick up and drop off. Every phone call was professional and helpful and I saved about $2000 over using pods.
The overall experience was good. Pick up & delivery was on time . other than my secured ,covered expensive living room tables & my Sons Amp head got beat up pretty bad. I understand things happen but we did this on our last move with moving it in a Uhaul & driving it our self & nothing happened. …
We used a U-Pack trailer for our recent move. The U-pack team was a delight to work with, from the call center to the drivers to the dispatch offices. They were friendly, helpful, and courteous. Best of all, U-Pack got our belongings to their destination in good shape.
Moved from Houston TX to Clarksville Tn. Containers were delivered and picked up as scheduled. All of the UPack people were very helpful and easy to work with. Nothing was damaged in the move. Great company to work with. Happy to recommend them and will use them again.
We recently moved across the country and ended up with U-Pack because of the price. But they really outdid themselves! They are very responsive and helpful and have a system where you can track each step of the way. I would definitely recommend them to anyone!
Just finished an out-of-state move with U-pack. Things were simple and flawless. Pricing was competitive. They dropped off and picked up cubes on time. Would definitely use again in the future!
Easy experience. They were on-time dropping off my truck, a little late picking it up, but everything was in great shape. They held onto my stuff and kept it safe. I totally 100% recommend .
This was the easiest move we've ever made I can't believe the service. Every step of the process was a truly pleasant experience. And the price is unbelievable compared to the competition.
Painless Moving! Load the trailer and drive away in your car to your new home. Trailer arrives and unload it. Easy, simple and worry free. I highly recommended using this service.
Quick, efficient, and so easy to set up. Not to mention it being so much cheaper than similar options. I definitely recommend anyone moving soon should use U-Pack.
100% satisfied with both ends of my delivery as well as the storage location in AL. Superb customer service that works with you. Would recommend highly!
I highly recommend UPack to anyone looking to move around. Affordable prices and lovely staff!! I would come back to them when needed. The best!!
It is easy, if you call, to get a better quote. Friendly, fast, updates to your phone, the website is user-friendly and pretty straightforward:)
U-Pack from start to finish did a great job.. Moving was stressful but U-Pack's part made it one less thing to worry about. Nothing broken!
Highly competitive rates, friendly service, and always on time or ahead of schedule. They were a life-saver for our cross-country move.
Overall, the experience was good. The issues I encountered were due to phone wait times and busy signals once the process had begun.
Excellent experience. Promptly dropped off boxes. Picked up as requested and same experience at destination. Highly recommend
I have used it twice in the last 4 years. It all went really really smooth without any issues or delays.
Friendly and fast! Everything went smoothly and half the cost of the quotes from their competitors!
Tore up mu dining room set and changed for 2 extra people we didn’t approve. Never again!!
Great experience! Super easy and communication was great through the whole process.
I would definitely rent again.very professional and reliable..get prices ...
