I use to go this location. It's near my work. The service is slow. I believe they like to take their time serving each person in line. The only clerks I really like is Hal and Chuck. One time David charged me for priority on 1 package and it suppose to be first class. He told me the package cost more, because of the distant. He didn't tell me he was charging me priority. I sent the tracking number to my customer. I realized on the USPS receipt, the number starts with 9505 that is for priority. David has mental issues. I know he drinks after work, because CeCe the employee transfer out to the main post office and she told me the story about him. We once argued about something related to postage. It's too bad, their was no witness. It was close to closing time. When I came close to closing time, I can see him rolling down the sliding panel, so he is showing he is closing on his side of the room. I feel sorry for Chuck have to deal with David attitude. I had over heard a lot of David bashing with Chuck. Chuck don't like to fight with David. The post office closes at 9:30 pm at the main office Van Buren. So after work I can get there without rushing. The staffs are always helpful and they are very professional. They also have a kiosk, so I don't need to wait inline. The downtown needs a kiosk. It's too bad the post office downtown don't provide it. They should. Also they should put a slot for packages to drop off. I believe it can give them more business, because there are over 100,000 downtown residents. But I wish the downtown post office luck. I give it 1 star, because for me to write a report about them. I really miss Hal and Chuck. The hours aren't convenient. They close at 5PM. I know people will be reading this rating and my name is exposed. But what the heck. Let the post office know. David needs to retire from the post office. He will charge you for priority when you don't need priority. He can be tricky if he doesn't like a person or he just like to do it when he feels like it. He is a very dishonest person. Customers beware!
And the U.S.P.S wonders why they are without a job. I tried to use the usps because I felt sorry for all of them loosing their jobs, but now I know why. I had an item I have us express mail with guaranteed delivery dates, none of the items were delivered within the specified time. I also have a total of 23 packages throughout the year where I have sent multible items using express mail, none of the items were delivered on time on the day specified. At this point, I will no longer use the U.S.P.S to even ship out a .60cent envelope because I simply don't trust them. If you have something of value, I would highly recommend using a different source such as UPS, FEDEX, or even a personal carrier. Its sad that overtime I would call to get information for these items I would get the run around, people were rude, and none of them were helpful and gave me any useful information. I am sick and tired of going through this every single time I ship anything, doesn't matter what it is. And their premium services such as EM, ON, or anything like that is a joke, the USPS are clowns, and I am not in the circus business. I will be calling the attorney generals office to file complaints again first thing monday morning while providing them with the documentation stated and all of the recorded phone calls. This will not happen again!
I am quick to send a complaint, as having been a manager myself for decades, I wanted to learn what the problems are. But I am also quick to praise, as workers do not get enough of that. Today, on a scale of 1-10, I want to give Chuck at the Downtown Phoenix Post Office a 15! He is knowledgeable, patient and efficient. His resolution of a perplexing problem this week was above and beyond the call of duty. He took the time and showed a determination to fix the problem that is very unusual for customer service anywhere these days. If you still do old-school things like award Employee of the Month, Chuck has my vote!!!!
Wish I could give this location a negative rating. We misunderstood the walk-in hours for passports. However when we got there the place was LITERALLY empty. A actual ghost town with just us and the employee. We aks the guy if we can go ahead and do the passport even though we had no appointment, because we were the only ones there. He flatly refused. No budging, nothing we said mattered. We probably went back and forth for 10m, as long as it usually takes to process the documents, Ultimately we left the, still empty, post office. I'm fuming mad. Such a petty rule follower. Highly recommend staying far far away.
Chuck and Hal are the ABSOLUTE BEST! They crush all the stereotypes of a Postal employees and the Post Office in general being a difficult experience. They are friendly to the point of being hospitable, they are patient with anyone and everyone, and most importantly, they are helpful. I used to HATE having to go to the Post Office, now I can say I actually enjoy stopping and seeing these guys each week. Keep up the great work boys, you're making Phoenix, and our lives, better every single day.
I visit a lot of post offices and ship a lot of stuff using USPS priority mail two day packaging, which is always in the lobby. Apparently they keep it behind the desk here, maybe it gets stolen, but I needed to pack stuff up and there was a line of about 10 people, so I asked for a large flat rate box. Very simple. The guy tells me to wait in line. If you’re familiar with this shipping practice you’ll understand how absurd this was. Anyways. Will avoid this one in the future.
Their customer service is not that great at all. There is one particular lady who is a huge jerk I work school hours so obviously can't make it to get my mail till the weekends and she would always give me a hard time about it being full! I have a PO BOX and my package was stolen from a parcel and I never got refunded nothing I ended up having to pay for their loss which is absolutely ridiculous! After this service contract ends I am never getting a PO Box with them again!
David is honestly just old and grumpy and needs to retire. He Wants to snitch on every employee for simply wanting to be nice and letting you use their tape rather than charging you to buy a roll to simply put one strip or tape on a package And said all of that with a bad attitude and a rude tone. Hal on the other hand was exceptional with a great attitude and explained thing thoroughly. 1 STAR for DAVID 5 STARS for HAL
I haven't received my new ID in the mail from the DMV. I have been waiting for 3 weeks and decided to call them. The post office decided that my house doesn't exist and sent it back to the DMV. EVEN THOUGH they had the right address on it. Seriously? You could send me the papers that came with changing my address for my medical insurance, but not the ID? I grow tired of how terrible the post office is getting.
Today I applied for a passport for the first time. I didn't really know what to do and was nervous about the process. Despite my fears, I had a great experience at this post office! The staff was extremely helpful, kind, and knowledgeable. Walked me through the process and gave me a nice history tidbit on the murals in the beautiful and historic building. I was in and out in 15 minutes with a smile!
Great postal office location inside the historic building. The service has been good every time I visit the place to drop off the package. The parking on-site is non existent so you have to park on the neighboring streets. The #1 reason to visit this PO is to walk through the building and admire the old school look and craftsmanship of the days long gone.
First, didn't open on time, 10 minutes past opening time, so I missed my bus I had to wait an additional 15 minutes to catch the next bus and in this heat thats not good. Second, didn't have any large regular stamped envelopes that I needed. Finally, clerk was very unfriendly, didn't greet me when I came up to the counter, and didn't say have a nice day.
Best place to renew Passport, they even do your photo ($15). Chuck is one cool cat! He's eligible for retirement and continues to work because he loves his job. Thanks my friend, you made it easy peasy, and I thank you for the extra attention and info for getting ALL the thing's I needed!
Love this post office! Beautiful building, and the 2 gentlemen who have worked there forever are great. Always friendly. Always smiling. Always there to help. Hey, sometime postal service messes up and packages don't get delivered....this post office does a great job at customer service!
Ten after four on a Tuesday, the phone rings & rings, no answer. Was calling to assure them that I live in my apartment since the 2 empty apartments in my building got their ads but my mailbox was empty. Now I'm curious how much mail I haven't received.
I haven't had any interaction with the people inside, I simply know that it is a gorgeous building that I enjoyed walking through. I wouldn't go back to see it again, but if people are in the area, it is worth seeing.
Post office with interesting architecture. The older guy working there has a long beard and a mix between a mohawk and mullet. Fantastic. Plus he went out of his way to make everyone he helped chuckle a little.
Asking Chuck about passport information. It sounds like he had other important people he needs to attend to rather than helping me. Terrible place to go for passport services. Would recommend somewhere else.
Probably one of the slowest operations in America!! Why is this place always overwhelmed and under staffed? This is in the heart of downtown of course it's going to busy. Also we need a no stars feature.
The people here are the friendliest around and it rarely gets as busy as other post offices. The biggest drawback is the only parking spaces are a few roadside meters on the north side of the building.
I am angry! Ive been waiting for them to ship one of my packages for 4 days. And they will not answer the phone. Ive tried many times and I waited for 5 minutes but it wouldn't stop ringing.
Exelent customer service. I went to.process passport, very easy a x fast service, the gemtlan who helped us was so nice amd patoemt he even helped me make a future appt for passport …
Some of the staff are very slow and unfriendly. Only open Monday - Friday from 9:00 - 5:00 when many people are working and can't get there. Quality of delivery service is uneven.
They have no idea what customer service is. No line when I got there and the employee that assisted me looked so annoyed every time a question was asked.
I never receive my packages they are always lost and my kids won't have Christmas this year I'm calling the news this has been happening 3 years
Best post office I've ever been to. Have been going there for years. Will travel out of my way to go to this PO only. Extremely friendly staff.
How is it possible that both the Chandler and Phoenix Post Office does not answer their phones. Then when you call back it's busy. Horrible!
I know the P O is open from 9-5, M-F, but what hours are the doors open so I can get to my P O Box? Why aren't the hours posted on the door?
Place was nice and clean. They were nice and very welling to help. Got my paperwork filled out and ready to see the world , in a few weeks
No line and Chuck was the best help. He was super personable and made my day. Thanks for the great interaction Chuck, see you again soon!
Not as bad as others are making it out to be. Its understaffed but the one person that was working at the time was very friendly/helpful.
I had an appointment to file my application for a passport. The clerk was extremely efficient and had a great sense of humor.
The nicest staff. They are willing to go out of the way to help you. I passed other post office to come to this post office.
I need to reach someone regarding registered mail. I have called and called and no one is answering the phone. Frustrating
I don't get the low rating for the place.. the staff is super friendly and courteous, and the building looks pretty cool!
El servicio es amable, eficiente y confiable. Agradezco las atenciones de los trabajadores del servicio postal.
They never answer the phone. Very unprofessional. Someone needs to get this fixed. Maybe a firing is needed.
Every other store I go to is able to tape the packaging slip to the box I'm shipping. They wouldn't.
Nice building. Staff is surprisingly friendly (especially the agent with the highest white beard)
Excellent neighborhood & my favorite post to visit whenever I'm in Phoenix very clean great job
Is this the post office previously located in downtown near Jefferson. It was better downtown.
I can't even get anyone, not even an automated machine, to answer the phone this morning. :(
Every time I go here, I learn something new. The post office guys are always super helpful.
I tried calling and it just rings and rings. I let it ring for 3 minutes and it just quit.
Pat at USPS was awesome, great customer service in making sure my shipping needs were met.
An absolute disgrace, incompetent useless service. Evidently ran and operated by morons!
Great historical building. Haunted. Staff was great and accommodating. It's super cool.
Love these guys, chuck and the rest of this crew are the best in the valley. Thank you!
Poor service. Don't answer phones, act like they don't want their jobs. Bad reputation
Literally the nicest staff. Shipped 10+ packages here and they are always so friendly.
Idk why people blast this place. Chuck is extremely nice and knowledgeable
Called repeatedly with no answere just kept ringing....very unprofesional.
Called several times and the phone rang repeatedly. No one ever answered.
The gentleman with the long white beard and mullet mohawk is on point.
Great Post Office. Clerks are always helpful, service is always fast!
David was very customer-centric, friendly and efficient!! Thank you!
Chuck is simply great. If you read this, big hugs from spain!
Does NOT answer the phone. What kind of business is this??
Why would they post a non-working phone number online?
All staff was super friendly, efficient and helpful.
