Evans Street Post office . This is the main USPS site in San Francisco, it closes @8:30 pm. We usually be there around 8:00pm. There is one employee, her name is Yolanda, we think she is the lead of the team. She alway wants us to go in earlier. The closing time is 8:30. Her customer communication attitudes is making us very uncomfortable every time she is around, she is not just doing this to me, she does it to everyone who walks in after 8:00pm. Please put her in the back!! We used to go to the Excelsior branch, everyone over there were very professional and they close their door at 5:00pm as schedule posted, as long as customers walk in before 5:00, we all line up inside, all staff at the Excelsior site were patiently greeting every customers. Makes neighbors look forward to do business in that branch, I wish Yolanda can be sent to the Excelsior branch to learn how other staffs treat customers. She definitely needs retraining or please send her to work in the back. Please do not let her deal with customers.
I don’t usually write review but this postal office is so horrible. The lack of staffing and behavior from some staff is unexpected, they mix walk-in and appointments so it delays so much time for people that have waited from 5-6am. They complain that we are the reason there is lack of staffing and complain on how tired some employees are (They claim the person worked from 6AM-2PM which I think it’s a reasonable time to be working, it’s their job. They shouldn’t complain about the time). I’ve been trying to get my passport for almost a week and every time I reserve for next day and the day comes, it never happens. Not only that but the website is annoying, you try to make an appointment so you don’t have to waste time coming here and it doesn’t work. In my opinion, they lack staffing, technology, and time management between the staff. I hope this place gets better things up and running otherwise this is disappointing to see.
The poorest customer service possible with 6+ hours of wait time. Had to go there to get passports replaced, and nearly walked away due to lack of staffing, knowledge of the staff and equipment malfunction. Yolanda - the manager of the branch does not know how to use the camera for passport photo. She does not even know how to process the passport application. it took 1 hour 13 mins to get one customer photo, another 23 minutes for completing the job. And may be workers should be trained how to walk faster. :) Either the passport function should be given to private agency, or the fee for each passport process should be paid. The situation reminded me sloths from Zootopia. Looks like post office employees are even worse. Good luck to everyone who is visiting the office to get the passports. And please, for people who is getting their passports, please bring your own photo for gods sake!
While we expected the wait to get our son's passport renewed would be long, when it did happen it was still painfully unbearable. The staffs were actually courteous and professional (we did not see or experience any rude behaviors), but the system is absolutely broken, starting with mixing appointments and walk-ins which makes estimating wait time impossible, no bathroom facilities which makes the wait even more stressful, confusing signs/instructions on the wall which only prolongs the time for agents to process because patrons did not clearly know how to fill in the forms This happened in the midst of San Francisco, the so-called tech hub, in 2022. Maybe the many start-ups that purport to heal mental health should redirect their efforts to fix this backward 19th century paper processing. That would for sure reduce the flare of mental stress.
I’m a self actualized woman this place brought me to my breaking point for a passport. It was Hades. A large room of about 40 immigrants and a few stoners sat as docile sheep and accepted snails pace service by only two people. Until I encouraged the supervisor of the establishment to pitch in. The pace is insanely slow I got there at 2 PM and at 3:45pm I spoke to a woman who had been there since 8 AM. During my last interaction there was an older Asian man at the counter he was so excruciatingly passive aggressive that I aborted my interaction with him.. If you’re getting a passport and you go there and take a number I pity you. 1300 Evans is a complete embarrassment The majority of the employees are just counting the days until they retire with benefits.
The Post Office and mail processing facility at Evans Street is dope. if you ever get the chance to take a tour of the processing facility, I highly recommend it. as a citizen who loves to get mail and send mail it is fascinating to see how the entire process is managed, especially in a an extremely overpopulated place like San Francisco. I know there are a lot of haters on the post office but these people work extremely hard to get your mail to you in the most timely manner and in good condition and yes, I know mistakes happen( to me too) but there are real people there who try their best to keep it going smoothly! This is also a great place for Ada parking. Lots of spaces up front!! ♥️♿
We had a great experience applying for a passport at this location. We were a bit worried after reading the reviews here. We did have a morning appointment and that itself was very difficult, but once we were at the post office they were very friendly - checked us off their list, and ensured that we start our appointment close to the reservation time. The entire process was very efficient (it did take about 12 minutes where the lady explained all our options and ensured that we filled out everything properly.) The passport processing is in a separate room with a large waiting area providing some ventilation. All employees and most customers were wearing masks, which was a concern for us.
I went to the Evans Avenue post office to get a passport. When I went in there were 3 people ahead of me so I thought this won’t take long. I took a number. And waited. And waited. It was an hour and a half and the excruciatingly slow clerk, an elderly African American man, was moving in slow motion. In the middle of it all he took a break. My feeling was that this clerk was marking time until his retirement and benefits kicked in. I went to see if a supervisor or someone could help. The answer was a snippy and snotty no. I felt like I was in a third world country. THE worst service I have ever seen. Even worse than the DMV in San Francisco. And that’s saying something.
Well, I agree the wait was horrible, but if you're patient enough others who aren't leave and all of a sudden it's your turn! Regardless the staff was AMAZING! My purse was stolen with all my ids....I was a mess! Stuck in a catch-22 situation, but the staff lifted me up! They were not only knowledgeable, but compassionate and KIND! Something I definitely didn't experience at the DMV, where the staff moved us like cattle and treated us such!!! This passport agency might take a while, but no appt in a city...what do u expect?! The staff takes each person and careful makes sure every T is crossed! I HIGHLY recommend this place! ✌
I came here to get a new passport WITHOUT an appointment. Walk-ins start at 1pm but make sure to arrive really early (BEFORE 10am). Many folks arrive at 9~10am for walk-in and wait hours. I arrived at 9:30am, and they started rejecting walk-ins starting from 10am. Other than the wait, the service was clear and fast. Make sure to follow instructions online on what you need to bring for your passport application. All I needed was for expedited passport book: - Completed DS-11 form - Original Certificate of Citizenship (NOT copy) - Original driver's license You may need additional documents, but that's all I needed.
This post office is terrible. I went there to get my passport done. They have online saying that passports walk-ins are only a 30 minute window to go in which was a lie. I get there in a 30 minute window turned out that I was supposed to be there at seven in the morning so the next day or after the weekend and it I went there in the morning 7 AM and they said the clerk was not there and that the Tuesdays walk in was already filled it up which I cannot understand. They were not helpful they did not do anything or try to explain why Tuesdays walk in is already filled when today’s Monday.
I can't believe I'm writing a 5-star review for a USPS Post Office. Really weird to be doing this. But this Post Office and the people who work here deserve it and deserve raises. Nothing but helpful staff and they are open until 8:30 on weekdays which is a huge help for my business which involves sending out perishable packages - allows me to pack them late to avoid unnecessary time in hot weather. Seriously, this Post Office is the best I could ever imagine. And Speakeasy Brewery is just a block away (closed Mondays) to reward yourself for getting all your things posted on time.
I came here for my passport application. Walked in at 10:15 and saw that they were serving #5 on the screen. Mine was number 27. I thought ok I can wait, and I did very patiently for my number. They have the most horrible service here. There was only 1 staff doing the passport application and the guy was so inefficient! He was taking his time to call for the next number to be called! After more than an hour, they only helped 4 people! I couldn’t tell about 5-6 frustrated people left not being helped. Very inefficient staff!
Update: I've been to this location several times since my first negative review, and it's since come to be one of my favorite USPS locations, especially given that yes, they are ACTUALLY open until 8:30pm M-F. I've come to the conclusion that this was just an off day the employee in question. Everyone has bad days, even the best of the best, and I've received nothing but great service and care from the employees there, everything from helpful tips to save me $$ to catching errors I've made in shipping. 5 stars all around.
Judy’s a B. We went in to send a package to our family. We were being helped by the new lady I guess as nosey JUDY watched we asked for tape and as the nice new lady was about to give us tape to use JUDY’s rude self yelled at her to stop and that we have to buy tape. Which I had no problem to do. Post office workers use to be so nice. JUDY needs to be fired or yelled at like how she be yelling at her coworkers. Or some dam tape. Petty Judy!!
Had a horrible experience. My appointment was at 4:00, so I came here a bit earlier. Because they’ll let you take it earlier if there’s no one else there. When we got there, there was no one there and it was around 3:30, but we ended up waiting till around 5. In my opinion they got horrible service, like not enough time management. Would recommend a different place to do renewal for passport if TAHTS what your gonna be going here for.
Should’ve read the other reviews. My visit started out fine but then their customer service quickly deteriorated when trying to tell me what else I needed to send my mail, and they were being very rude about it. Definitely will not come here again, I’ve been to another USPS in South SF where the workers were very sweet and helpful, and only came to this because it was on my way today. The people working here were not kind.
My package has not moved for 4 days! It was supposed to be delivered to another person by now. The above number sucks! Nobody seems to answer. The other 1-800 number is useless. It just tells me crap I already know. That my package has arrived at the SF origin facility. It's all automated and there is no option to speak with a live representative! Arg!!!!!! I tried to email them but that doesn't seem to work either! ✋
If I could give this place 0 star I would. Self proclaimed arrogant people. Rude as hell. Please don't come here unless you want to be disrespected. PLEASE DO NOT WORK HERE (TAKE LOADS OR DROP OFF) IF YOU ARE A TRUCK DRIVER, WARNING. This has been the worst place I've been to hands down. I met 4 people all of of them were so rude like you work and you get paid. Work like you are supposed to. THEY SHOULD BE FIRED!!
I came for my passport application. I was here since 7:10. They were suppose to open at 7:30 but opened like 10 minutes late. There were two people ahead of me, walk ins also but they were helped around 9:30-10. I am still waiting for my turn as of 10:21. There are two people here and both are taking appointments. No one is helping the numbered people. This place is badly managed and horrible service.
My brother and his wife went in to post some passport related documents with their baby on a Saturday. The employee at the desk was both rude and condescending to them. She basically implied they were stupid for not knowing these specific documents warrant an appointment, even though the website doesn't mention this. They also had no postcards. This is a terrible branch. Would not recommend.
This Post Office exceeded my expectations in every way. The staff demonstrated exceptional knowledge and professionalism throughout my visit. They took the time to understand my specific mailing requirements and provided tailored solutions. With their attention to detail and commitment to customer satisfaction, this Post Office has become my go-to destination for all my postal needs.
What a fantastic experience I had at this Post Office! From the moment I walked in, the staff was attentive and ready to assist. They provided detailed information about shipping options, helped me choose the best packaging, and even offered helpful tips to save on shipping costs. The whole process was seamless, and I left feeling confident that my package was in good hands.
Excellent post office! They have the most knowledgable and helpful people out front, and the back of house was extremely helpful in helping me track down a package that was misaddressed. They were super responsive and had located the package within 5 hours of me opening the service ticket. Do what they tell you to do - they know what they are doing and how it all works.
Very friendly staff, they try their best although they are very slow and the facility is understaffed, so you will probably have to wait. They do have plenty of chairs to sit down while waiting. If you are going for a passport, I would recommend to fill the forms online and print them at home and make an appointment online. They take good pictures and they cost $15.
I wish i could give it zero stars. Lady who attended me and my family was very rude. I usually don’t complain about places online, but this one did it. My family members have a hard time understanding english and when they would ask her something she would get mad and started yelling at them. very unprofessional. I hope you guys hire translators in the future.
Waited hours to see someone for passport. Paid extra to get passport expedited since I'm supposed to go on a trip soon. The agent forgot to have me sign some for s so I got a letter I had to go back and resend sign for s delaying while application. My trip is in 5 days and still haven't gotten passport when it should've been here 3 weeks ago.
They completely screwed up my order. My package was supposed to be delivered to me in San Francisco. Days later, I get an update saying the package was in SF. Then I get an update saying it's in Arizona. The package arrived at this location to be delivered to me, and it ends up in another state. I am very disappointed.
This is my favorite Post Office in the City. The employees have always been friendly, the lines are usually not very long, and parking is easy. I go out of my way to go to this location to avoid the long lines and lack of parking everywhere else. And to top it off, they are open much later than any other P.O.!
Id just like to add that Judy has been great and always quick to take care of things efficiently. Some of the other new workers dont seem to care, even though they are getting paid to do a job. The only reason for a 1 star is the fact Im still waiting on a package that has already arrived but I cant have.
I had a very bad experience today. I wish I could give it zero stars for this post office! The front desk lady named Michelle was very rude, impatient and unprofessional. I would not recommend this post office for any kinds of service at all. Very disappointed!!!!
Restroom for employees only on both buildings. The main building and cafeteria, even though it's public property. Some people even have been waiting here for almost 5 hours! You have to go two blocks for a bathroom break. Two stars for at least friendly staff.
Postal employees deserve to be treated well just like you or me!! So be nice always. :) As for my experience...Nady IS THE BEST!! HELPED ME EVEN THOUGH I DIDN'T KNOW WHAT I WAS DOING TRYING TO RETURN A PACKAGE. SHE MADE IT QUICK AND PAINLESS!! SALAMAT, NADY!!
We went to apply for a passport at 11 a.m. with a long line, but they added 4 to 5 staff at 12:30 p.m. Not sure it is their regular schedule to service more applicants coming in the afternoon. Overall service is very efficient and professional.
I called a supervisor on a phone that apparently wasn't for public inquiries, first thing in the morning. The supervisor nevertheless jumped into action to help me find a lost document and couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. Thanks!!
We visited this location to mail our wedding invitations. With the save the date envelopes, a very nice lady hand cancelled the envelopes for us, and they arrived looking great. For the actual invitations, I requested the same option (and
My package is also stuck at this post office. Sometimes as many as 5 times a day it scans in "arrived as post office" and it is this San Francisco location. It has been there a week and isn't moving. I try calling them all hours of the
I bought $1,000 money order, the clerk gave me a wax envelope I could not write on then he gave me an address label that the ink smeared on, I am incensed. He straight up told me that I have to buy an envelope I want to write on.
We were lucky. Although there is no appointment, but after the registration sort of smooth and quick procedures. It is recommended that you fill out the form in advance so that your turn will be quicker. The staff is very nice.
Not just for tax day! This place is open til 8:30, but that's not the only reason to go. It's well-staffed and the people who work here are friendly and professional. Good people deserve recognition. Also, plenty of parking.
Staff dont really know how to do their job!! Very annoying I had a p.o box and had issues with them since they would mis place my stuff and they never delivered my license plates or returned them to the sender !! So mad!
I have never had anything but a positive expirence. I do not have a post office box there, i only use the location to send packages off. They have been very helpful for priority registered even international mailing
Hopelessly understaffed! Was here for a passport application on a Saturday when there were 0-1 staff processing an average of 3 applications an hour! Bring a book, a snack and prepare to camp out for a while!
the clerk, Michelle, was rude to my family for no reason. We came in for a passport walk in but they said they couldn’t do any walk ins. They never said we couldn’t do walk ins. We wasted our time there.
I've had a PO Box here for 32 years and I've had no problems. The prices have gone up a little bit, but rental prices are still reasonable. I have never experienced a rude employee at this post office.
Amazing customer service! Came here to apply for a passport and didn't even have an appointment. They also have free parking with lots of spaces. The whole process took less than 30 minutes!
We go there every year at Christmas to ship packages. The young lady Michelle recognizes us, and it's always a pleasant experience! We go first thing in the morning!
~~really appreciate the L8 hrs that this branch stays open, 8:30pm weekdays except holidays. It helps my online mailing business stay very functional~ …
Passport service is completely booked. Not the fault of this office, but it might be a popular location.
Above and Beyond especially Damian ,Thank you so much.
