"I recently had a HORRIBLE experience"
"UPDATE July 2018: This post office lost my packages FOUR TIMES IN A ROW since April"
"It's Christmas time and we walked into this post office on a Saturday afternoon"
"Literal hell on earth"
"Used this post office one or twice a month for the last 2 years"
I recently had a HORRIBLE experience. I had to mail a tan envelope with colored tape on 3 sides. The woman at the desk told me I could not use colored tape and made me get off line, remove the tape and get back onto line. She then said "Do I have keys inside?", I replied no and she proceeded to open my envelope to see a small plug I was mailing! She then stapled the package closed with 6 staples and found fault with the repurposed envelope with a cut piece of white paper covering the old address. She said "You need to tape this!" ; (remember this was taped before), and said that will be $3.49!! I replied $3.49 to tape it, no so replied $3.49 for the small roll of clear tape she tried to sell me. I could buy a much larger clear tape for $0.99 at the 0.99 cent store 2 blocks away! I refused and she gave me attitude for no reason saying: "Ok, that's enough of you, I don't want to deal with you anymore. NEXT!!" I replied miss, I simply want to mail my package and she refused to acknowledge I spoke a word. I left and mailed the envelope at a branch in Manhattan that not only said the Brooklyn Post Office should not have used staples like that, they said the way I was mailing it was acceptable and that clear tape was "free". A woman in the Manhattan post office took my envelope, placed "free' clear tape over the 6 staples the Brooklyn Post Office lady stapled and mailed my certified mail properly. I would NEVER ever recommend using this post office. To be honest with you, they all need to be fired and or retrained from the other reviews I've read. The Spanish woman I spoke with needs to be fired without question. The quality I received is absolutely unacceptable. The line in this Posit Office for self service was very long while the line to speak to someone was short. Others on line told me "the people here are all very nasty this is not new." The next time I receive service from this post office I will record my experience with my phone and post it online for all to see. Sadly it seems that is what's needed to get anything done these days for the better.
UPDATE July 2018: This post office lost my packages FOUR TIMES IN A ROW since April. Basically every month they lost my packages. I got letters from supervisor for lost packages, but those letters don't help me to get my money back. The workers are very rude and helpless!!! I've been living in Greenpoint since 2006, and this post office did nothing, but worst job over the years. Here's a list of things they did to me. - They didn't process my moving notice from Calyer St to Jewel St, all my letters including my work checks, tax papers were LOST. "LOST" means LOST, they didn't know where they were, since they didn't process my moving notice. But strange enough I've received confirmation mail for address change. -They lost really important packages from Japan, Russia, China many times. They always say the same thing "Our computer says it has been delivered!" One time I've received one of lost packages 3 months later. Another time, a kind person who lives nearby brought my package that has been delivered to her house. One time they lost my package that contains a rare jacket I bought online, that was $100 worth. I can't remember all of those problems with them over years, because it's just too many. They don't know Greenpoint addresses, they don't know how delivery should be done. -They don't know what's their jobs. They are always out of shipping boxes/tapes/mailing stickers/tags/international shipping paperwork. I had to ask them many times. After I did my best with those limited paperwork, waited in line 30-40min, they got angry against me because of rack of paperwork on the box. They accused me as if I should know their jobs. Seriously, I had too many problems and too many unpleasant experience with them over 10 years. I try to avoid to go there as much as I can.
It's Christmas time and we walked into this post office on a Saturday afternoon. We were waiting in a medium sized line for 5 minutes with no employees in sight before the first man in the line rang a doorbell next to a window which eventually summoned an an unhappy postal worker. 10 minutes later they were both gone. Again, we found ourselves in a line with no customers being served and all the windows closed. I stepped out of line to ring the bell again. Nothing happened and everyone in the line began looking nervously at each other. Another woman started to ring the bell. She probably rang it about thirty times before the same employee returned. The employee's voice was muffled behind the glass but the woman who rang the bell's was unmistakable, "You're closed?" I checked the web and they had indeed been closed for 2 hours. Imagine you're working in a store after closing and you notice not only that the front door is propped open but that people are waiting in line. This is at the heart of problems with the post office; the woman behind the now understandably protective glass lacked the compassion and sympathy - what people commonly call human decency - that would compel most of us to act, to apologize, to explain. We would shut the front door and lock it. She did none of these things and in retrospect, really could not have been any less helpful. As we left the door was still propped open, inviting in a hapless customer that we, as members of civilization, felt obliged to inform, "It's closed." The next time you are tempted to place your possessions and correspondence in this post office's care remember this: They do not care. They do not care.
Literal hell on earth. Never have I received such rude customer service from anywhere before. I had two packages to mail weighing about the same , but one cost $7 and one cost $13 so i questioned why the price difference and she kept saying the weight but I knew they weighed about the same so she said “it’s by weight is this your first time mailing a package?!” See receipt for proof - both 1 pound 2 oz. however, one was going to CA and one to Boston, so why not learn how your job works first before condescending me? UPDATE: 4 months I was able to avoid having to come here, but an "undeliverable" package had left me no choice but to return. I went with my tracking number, of course got the same nasty woman from my earlier experience, flashed her a smile and brought forth my most polite state. I gave the receipt with tracking to her and she told me it was because the wrong zip code was listed (even though she was looking at a USPS receipt that clearly showed the zip code as 11222) and that I need to check back tomorrow. This was a very important package I needed for that night, so I was obviously upset that she wouldn't even TRY to go look for it but she didn't care and she called for the next person in line. so. I got back in line, praying not to have "Post Office Nazi" again, and luckily by the time it was my turn, I got this nice new man who had his manager go check, and low and behold returned with the package ! so, in sum, not everyone who works at this post office is unwilling to help! but to upper management, that older Indian woman is the cancer of your business.
Used this post office one or twice a month for the last 2 years. The same odd recurring experiences - no problem with any transaction with any other employee, except anytime I get the bespectacled women with dark hair, glasses, thick accent, potentially of Asian extraction. Again the most rancid exchanges I’ve seen from this employee tend to occur after 4pm. I have never seen anyone utterly workshy, confrontational and hateful towards clients in any business the world over. I have never managed to complete a transaction with this employee in over 7 attempts. She asks a barrage of questions regarding delivery address (clearly marked), return address(clearly marked) and contents! Often she cannot understand the writing or my accent so I chose to print the information on a small label for the Domestic package. Today she said “you don’t need all this” (referring to the label) she then said “why you put this? “ (so that we can all see where it’s going & who it’s from) then said she was going to cover it. There was no need as there was plenty room on the front of the package to post her label so I declined this. She TOSSED my package at me against the plastic package window and said I had to take it off then! . I’ve decided to decline this also, as well as removing any further business with this USPS, and where possible skipping USPS all together. Horrible.
if you're looking to spike your blood pressure that's the place! After receiving an item from ebay that was damaged I decided to return it in the same box it was delivered to me via usps. It was a box from a paper towel company. I got there at 9:05 am there was already a line and no clerk at the window. Clerks were talking to each other having a blast while we were all waiting to be called. Finally one of them decided to open a window while all other 3 were still talking. After 20 minutes of being on line the red haired middle aged clerk came up to me and said that she can't accept my box because it is commercial. I responded by saying that this is the box I received via usps. She also said that she has to sell me a silver tape because they don't accept clear..again I told her that this is the way this package was sent to me and usps apparently didn't mind since I received it in the first place. She then looked at me and said "there's always going to be apples and rocks". This really frustrated me because I don't get why she would make this an issue if obviously the other usps office that was sending this box to me didn't find it as such. This place is the worst they always lose my packages and are rude to the customers.
2023 update: change to 3 stars because I haven't had anymore issues with this office. What I suggest to you anytime you do drop off of prelabeled packages is to take the extra 5 minutes to enter it into the self service kiosk so you have evidence just in case. With that said, I drop most of my packages off now at a local USPS drop off location instead. Original 2020 review: I hate to do it but I am a small business owner and this office already lost two of my packages without a trace in the span of one month time- losing me over $100 worth of products and causing customer service issues for me. I spoke to at least 5 other patrons over the course of my time living near here who also had issues, and apparently the supervisor has a list of other customers with this issue. I think she thinks it's normal, but even at Ridgewood and Bushwick offices this NEVER happened once. Unfortunately the supervisor offered "help" at first but realistically took no accountability for it when the time came. If you are a small business or sending expensive packages and looking to drop-off, absolutely avoid this office.
Under difficult circumstances (I wish I could give some of the customers I've seen there a zero star rating) the personnel at this post office are friendly, and efficient. Yes there is always a line, because it's a small place - but when I've been there all 3 windows were always open (besides the on call window). It DOES have an automated machine if you can utiize it. (with a credit card) for stamps, letters and packages (although I hate the flimsy stamp sheets you get at the machines). Also, the many businesses in the area tend to clog the ""works" - with their time-consuming window visits. But the personnel do the best they can with their limited resources, and they do it well. Wish it was open some evenings however. Finally, passport application processes are done well here, with friendly and very helpful assistance. Try visiting some nearby post offices, and you'll come back here running! p.s. No, I don't work here, but I've lived here all my life and have watched this PO improve despite a growing populaion that it has to serve.
There is something systemically wrong with the USPS. Every post office I've visited in my life time, have poor service. Is this a requirement to work for the government? When I entered the post office , the line extended near the exit door. I needed to ship a package that had a prepaid label. All I had to do was hand the package to the clerk and get my receipt. To my surprise, I saw people placing their pre label boxes and envelopes into a clerk's work area. I didn't want to do this because I wanted a receipt as proof I shipped the item. As I waited, I wanted to see why I'm waiting on a long line for 20mins. Low and behold, it was only one clerk working ! Seriously, at least have respect for the people waiting and let us know what's going on. Perhaps we would be understanding. Also, the clerk could have apologized to the clients for the long wait. I use to work in the service field. An apology goes a long way.
Not decent, irresponsible postmen work in the office!!! The postmen of this office constantly do not bring me my parcels !!!! Where do they put them?? It's outrageous!!! It's easy to say - the package is lost. Go ask your neighbors! There are 100 of them. Maybe bypass the neighboring buildings ??? There are 30-40 floors. Is a mockery. Sane employees read the address - it says PUT IN MILBOX PLEASE! This is their job. But the parcels are DISAPPEARING: two watches were missing, warm winter boots, a crystal vase .... a set of English porcelain. Why don't parcels with Aliexpress disappear??? Because they cost $5. I give the office 1 star. Shame on his followers. 08.12.2023. !!! Again I did not receive the parcel. The package was expensive. Why do I receive cheap parcels and they are placed in a box according to instructions? Why do expensive parcels disappear in December? Bad service. Disgusting.
Terrible Experience!! On Monday I have paid them 20 dollars to ship a package for Thursday. And the thing is that. THE USPS LOST MY PACKAGE WORTH 600 DOLLARS! THATS INSANE. The people in there are rude and half asleep. Inside its almost 100 Degrees. They didn't turn on the fans inside the lobby. They had an air conditioner but they did some construction and got a tube that will blow the AC air into the staff rooms. That is not fair and nice. The Self Service machine was broken and didn't want to accept packages. Oh yeah and the package they lost, they havent even did anything to it, they both lost it and never even put a label on it. Makes matter worse, so it shows they are lazy and dont do the work. I will never come here again, I rather go to the USPS in queens and never want to come here again. I rather pay UPS 30 dollars for 7 day shipping then here. -5/5
Great customer service. I took on the overambitious task of mailing 13 large boxes to another state. I was overwhelmed and turned away from two post offices before i came to this one. Ms. Ford, and the management here were incredibly helpful and accommodating even with the heavy traffic flow of other customers. I cannot explain how much I appreciate her assistance in labeling and repackaging and lifting the heavy boxes. She also had a very positive and warm attitude despite this being a tedious and taxing task. Great customer service from her. There is another woman who works there who has a generally irritated disposition and she can be unfriendly, unhelpful, and moody. She frustrated, but did not impede the process for me. Overall i would go to this post office over the other options. very limited resources at the other Brooklyn locations.
I think the best thing to say about this place is that I've never gotten beaten by a postal worker while inside the building. My postal worker yelled at my neighbor as he spent 2 hours in the post office this morning trying to find lost packages and figure out why our mail only gets delivered once every week or so in large bundles with other people's mail. He then hit and yelled at me in the afternoon. I had to flag down the NYPD, and they wrote up an incident report. Update: The postal inspector and the branch manager seem to be professionals. They have helped me feel safer after the threats I received from the postal worker and his supervisor. By the way, it's legal to record a federal worker in your building and in public. If I hadn't had video, the postal worker would have had his way and I'd be in jail now. I still fear retaliation.
I rarely write reviews but I think this place gets an unfair rap. The folks at the windows are actually usually quite pleasant and most things do happen quickly once you get to a window. But there are a few basic "rules" they ask you to obey -- most importantly "wait to be called" -- and yes, they will get rightfully upset with you if you fail to follow those rules. I think the bad reviews are partially the result of people who just haven't been patient and have therefore riled up the workers. That said, definitely come here expecting a wait, especially on the weekend, as it is understaffed. But if you are kind and patient, you will find most of the time that's exactly what you get in return. This post office is very, very busy and these workers are doing their best in a chaotic environment. I appreciate them.
This post office is infuriatingly bad. Twice now I've scheduled a package pick up from them and not only have they not shown, they haven't even acknowledged it. Over the holidays I spoke to multiple employees at the location as well as mail carriers who promised me that one of my packages was delivered and must have disappeared after they left it - but somehow it mysteriously got returned to the sender 2 weeks after christmas. Additionally, when I attempt to mail packages using the boxes in the area I often get them returned for "incorrect postage" though they've been weighed and are correct. If I've misunderstood their purpose and they're trying to work themselves out of a job, I'll be sure to change my rating to 5 stars.
Possibly the worst USPS location in all of the Brooklyn area. Postman lied to me and oversold me $100 worth of stamps because he said my wedding invitations would cost a certain amount. Went to the USPS near Penn Station to verify and they told me the real price, which was alot cheaper. The people that work here are liars and give you attitude for no reason. Poor and slow service. Racist to anyone that looks asian. They give off a vibe like they are entitled and are sucking away all of your hard earned tax dollars so they can work slowly and collect a great pension. The redelivery service does not work, nor they do attempt to. There are a few friendlies here, but overall, avoid this location and all of USPS if possible.
I come from Crown Heights just for the service alone! The staff is unbelievably courteous and they actually like their job. I’ve never had a bad experience and if there is a bit of frustration, I totally understand because of the shift that has happened since COVID. I want to remind everyone that the post office is really the MVP. They don’t have to assist us and get our beloved care packages and letters shipped and delivered but they do it and this location does it with no attitude, coldness or rudeness. Thank you for putting me at ease, thank you for always cracking a smile (when you can, since you guys wear masks!) and thank you for not being jerks unlike my post office in my area ;) you guys are amazing!
Stopped in this post office and had to leave due to the the service and rudeness of one employee. Someone seemed very stressed and went to a full 10 cause another customer went on the wrong line. Reaction did not fit the mistake! Was really off putting. Not sure if they’re too comfortable (yet miserable) working for USPS or just another rude employee. Either way it was enough to make me ready to go to another store to handle my business. The store was clean and well stocked with what you needed though. The line was not moving fast or even reasonably paced so if you have to go, hopefully you’re the only one! If you can find a better location. If you can’t hope you don’t get screamed at! ✉️
If I could give this place no stars, that would still be too good. First of all, they have 1 person working there basically at all times. The drop off box is so full everytime, you have to wait for them to clear it out each time to do a drop off. Secondly, the one time there are 2 staff members at the window, I hand off a reciept to pick up a package ( first time ever ) and the woman disappeared for 45 minutes and came back with no explanation, just handed off the package. This is definitely not the service I expect from my jobs local post office. Rude and angry, the workers need training beyond measure and it’s a pity that my business essentially depends on these people. AVOID AT ALL COSTS
This might possibly be the worst post office in the US. The staff are pretty vocal about how inconvenienced they are by you being there. There hasn't been a single time where I haven't witnessed them belittle someone in front of the rest of the folks waiting in line. I REALLY loved in 2016 when they were stealing all the packages that would be sent to my apt, claiming it was someone in my building (it wasn't, it's a building of 6 apts, and we're all pals). Don't even bother calling them, if you should be so lucky to actually get someone to answer the call, the service is equally subpar. Do yourself a favor and just go to the post office over off Broadway near Marcy.
Today I had an important package I needed tonight that requires a signature yet my doorbell was never rung for me to know he was here! I live in a building so he just left the note on my mailbox never attempted to come to my door! Now I have to wait 3 additional days because of the holiday. My mail is never on time. I literally walked into my building once and the post man said he didn’t have the code for the building and I had to let him in to deliver the mail. His excuse was he was working overtime on someone else’s shift. This is the worst post office I have ever had to deal with and perhaps I should write in so the Goverment knows what is going onn there.
i don't know if it's depressing or hilarious that a place that receives a 1.8 star rating is still in business, but i guess that's what you get when it's a government service. yeah, it's terrible, of course. well, i won't say of course. i'm sure there are post offices that have nice, efficient people, but i think it's more to do with their own personalities and sense of work ethic than a credo that is embraced by the establishment itself. the usps as we know it will probably not exist within the next 10 years so you can look at these grumpy people who seem to hate their jobs as forward-looking harbingers of the future who realize their time has come.
I dropped off a package for a return to sender. The sender never got the package. I called to see the status. They picked up and hung up right away the first two times I called. The third time a woman picked up and sounded annoyed right off the bat. I told her my issue and she said verbatim “Things get picked up here everyday so there’s nothing I can do.” When I tried to see if I could give her a tracking number she said, “That’s not how it works, like I said there’s nothing I can do. Have a good day.” And hung up right after. Totally miserable woman. Least to say I will never be dropping off a package here again.
I'd like to tell people about a wonderful experience I had at this post office. I had a bunch of mail to send. I was totally unprepared for which types of delivery I needed, what information I would need for sending international, and understanding what weights meant what kind of package. The postal worker behind was unfailing kind, helpful, and courteous. He treated me like a human, helped me understand what I needed, and was patient with me. And, I just got word that the package I shipped internationally was delivered before expected. Thank you for your work and thoughtfulness. It was really nice.
They truly suck. My latest experience: Missed the delivery of my parcel, so I took and signed the pink slip that they left on my door, and posted it back onto my mailbox. I also went online and scheduled a redelivery for the next day. They took my signed pink slip but didn't leave me my parcel. My online tracking status hasn't been updated since my scheduled redelivery. I called the post office and a loud woman with broken English immediately put me on hold, 10 minutes later nothing. Haha. That's funny because every single time I try and call them, the line is busy. Now I know why it's always busy.
Ok so I am not in here all that often but about a year ago I sent my passport out to one of those visa services, for a trip to India. Well lo and behold the visa company did not send it back, and the package would not track properly. Everyone at the post office here helped me so much to hunt it down. I knew the names of several people there, and everyone was so helpful! Just as I was about to give up hope, I came, the MORNING OF MY TRIP with no visa or even a PASSPORT in hand, and they said it came in and they found it. Mileage may vary, but they certainly did good by me.
I have lived in Greenpoint for 63 years and have been to this post office hundreds and hundreds of times and each and every time the postal clerks behind the windows are so rude and nasty and unhelpful. I was there last week and was so appalled by their nasty attitude i left crying and frustrated. I sometimes drive to long island just not to deal with them in Greenpoint.....it is the culture of this post office because most all of the clerks are equally nasty and rude.....just terrible since it is the only game in town.....they need a staff training on customer service
Just went in to mail my package and the self service wasn't working so I had to ask the woman who's working there now (11 am) for a label. She was extremely rude for absolutely no reason! If you hate your job you shouldn't be talking to customers who are just trying to ship their package. It wasn't even busy, I don't understand the reason for the attitude. This should have been a quick in and out but now I feel so uncomfortable and hope I never need to ask them for help again. PLEASE FIX SELF SERVICE SO WE DON'T HAVE TO INTERACT WITH PEOPLE WHO HATE THEIR JOB!
The most lazy and rude people. For what they are paid?! Didn’t wanted give me recide for my 500 $ worth prepaid package even tough was waiting 20 minuts in line where were only 3 people on the front of me!!!! Lady with little baby who was waiting the same time was told to do apoitment to deal in her case even tough other lady asker her to wait!!!! Ridiculous service!!! Awful need to go to other locations with my big package how this could happen, someone can tell me??? No supervision on this wild location? This Location should be close useless!
If the clerk at the window is not fluent in English, don't be shy about demanding to speak to someone who is. You will only frustrate yourself and the clerk through non-communication and one of the workers in the back will be very helpful and clear up your issue immediately. If the window clerk says you must speak to the supervisor, ignore that and ask to speak to anyone else. You'll never actually get the supervisor even after a half hour of waiting and most likely you do not need the supervisor's level of authority.
For a service we are often required to use when receiving mail, they offer the absolute worst service. I would give 0 stars if it was possible. I never received a notice for two packages that were not delivered. When I went online, my only option was to reschedule delivery, so I did so at my office. 2 weeks went by and the tracking status did not change, and when I went to this location today they told me the items had been returned to sender... Why are we subsidizing this failing, horrible business?
3 times sending packages overseas, 3 times different paperwork to fill out which they don't have it available to fill out, you have to stay in line to get that form then go back fill it out and then come back... .. Asked for paperwork from the supervisor and not only he didn't knew what is overseas with military address form is, but told me to get inline, then a lady comes in ask for it and gets it from the worker... and they didn't liked me to get angry and irritated and rude after all of this.
This post office is now closing at 3pm. That means i can't get to it before work, or after. But the previous schedule to close at 5 is also unacceptable. There are post offices in rural America that are open til 10pm. This is Brooklyn where people need extended hours. To add insult to injury, the plexi glass window to drop off w/o contact has been smashed weeks ago. The people who work here are lovely, but they are tasked with the impossible. USPS rehab this PO situation.
A zero would be too high a rating. As so often is the case here: line out the door, two people working at a snail's pace, pre-paid boxes piled and spilling out of the one window available for them, no one else in sight....it's truly pathetic. And we all know if they were in the private sector they would long ago have been out of business. But, their jobs are secure and no one is thinking about improving anything here. Same story for the past 30+ years. Pathetic.
Most unprofessional service I have ever experienced. I went there at 4:30pm on a Tuesday to ship a couple of documents. The lady was not only reluctant to answer any questions but later on she even became aggressive and started giving me a lecture that I should be listening to her better. The highlight was that in the end when she gave me the tracking code she asked me ironically if I understood or if she had to explain more. These people should not be there.
I went in to get help with a lost package . The Post Office counter person was extremely unhelpful.(And was outraged that I was asking her an actual question. “Oh no! here we go. I get one everyday...") with a level of rudeness I’ve only encountered from drunks at 3:30am. The complete package, so to speak. I tried the call the manager on the website's phone number, but was routed through robots that didn't grasp my situation as a drop-down possibility.
They are always losing my packages. Three orders from Amazon this Christmas and I have not received one as yet because of the package handlers. I believe the USPS hire a bunch of people who can't read and also who can't care any less than to get their pay check. I give 2 stars only because the letter carrier on our route is a really nice guy who really seems to know what he is doing and really cares. When he is off his substitute is a total disaster.
Not only will your experience in this post office be an absolute nightmare, but your letter carrier may assault you. They can't even figure out to deliver mail which I still haven't gotten in weeks. I get the mail to the wrong address instead of ours. I've tried making complaints, calling the office, reporting it to the Postmaster General, but they all just yell at you. This particular post office has some major issues. Use carrier pigeons instead
Been coming here for years and honestly, it's one of the worst post offices in the city. Workers seem to disappear without explanation, they don't honor or don't know how to honor hold notices for mail, workers generally seem apathetic to any sense of work ethic, and they don't ever empty the large package drop off box so if you have to stand in line even if you have already bought postage. Always time well spent.
A nice young lady helped me renew my passport today minutes before close. There is thick protective glass between the employees and the public, which hampers verbal communication between the two. I would like to think that as a society and a neighborhood, we have evolved past the need for such measures. But the staff make the best of it. They seem to have that New York pragmatism that makes the city run.
Very mean staff, seem to take pleasure in yelling at and berating customers. There are a few nice people working here, but overall the staff is downright mean!! Life is too short to be mean to strangers! Show a little love folks—the day will still be only 8hrs long whether you choose to approach the public with kindness or ferocity. What kind of world do you want to create with your actions?
The worst office ever, literally you make appointment for specific time in the morning 10:40am and when you arrived for your appointment the stuff is letting you know that the person that takes care of the password appointment went for one hour lunch. So you are waiting for one hour to begin seen when they call to help someone else even though you are next in the line!!!! Horrible people!!!
I never thought I would leave a review for usps but wow the women of this location are top notch!! I wish I had gotten their names but both times I went in not knowing what do I received kindness and patience AND I just got off the phone with them and was able to schedule a redelivery quickly and felt like she really wanted to help me in my situation. Thank you and they deserve a raise!!
The employees of this post office are genuinely kind/thoughtful people. It is a small post office and the lines can be long, but the care and thoughtfulness of the employees is touching. I never ever thought I'd write a review for a post office, but my family and I just went there to have our passports processed and we all walked home talking about how amazing both people working today.
Worst place on the planet. They lost my PRIORITY package, says it was delivered and was never at my door. I went to my door when I got the notification and it wasn't there. I've been trying to call this location all day. What a waste to pay for priority mail when it just gets lost. This is not ok and USPS needs to step up and do something about this BS. They'll be seeing my face later.
I live one block from the Williamsburg (11211) post office and I go out of my way to come here to save enormous frustration. The people here are friendly and nice and helpful and all that you could want in the postal service. I would suggest that the people leaving negative reviews simply go to the 11211 office and try to do ANYTHING. You will change your tune. I guarantee it.
The employees that work at this location all the time are rude, it seems that they are not happy with the work they do. I asked them for a stamp and they just threw it at me at the window. The same thing happened with an express envelope that I sent. they answer you in a very bad way. It is very sad, even though you pay for your service, they treat you badly, what a pity.
It kind of depends on the day and the person. Sometimes you get to deal with a frustrated rude employee, some of them are quite friendly though. Some days I was standing in the line for an hour, some days no one was there. Its a typical governmental post office and not much to expect from the service. The building/office itself needs a renovation, thats for sure.
So far this holiday season I've lost two packages in the mail. Both times I've received e-mails saying that they were delivered at my mailbox (in the foyer), both times I was home when the post office said it was delivered, both times I was near the front door and would have been able to hear it being delivered, and both times I received nothing. Hmmm...
You have me in line, tell me to redo the passport application, give me a copy to tell me in 2mins later its too late to do it! Why was the whole point, out of kindness just say no. The attitude and disrespect does not match the rating for this post office. Should shut this location down what is the point of providing services if you going to be rude.
The service is spotty - generally always understaffed and, while I wouldn't say they're rude, they just seem less interested in being helpful than teenagers taking selfies. There's always a line. They've lost multiple packages of mine. Just an overall disappointing place. Updated to 1 after going in this morning and getting attitude from the cashier.
Absolute disaster. Understaffed and the one staff member ignores every customer. Everything is self service and incomprehensible. People rely on this service for their livelihoods and for civic duties like taxes. It is literally an outrage that in the richest country in the world a postal service can be run this badly. Criminal waste of tax dollars.
The place was dirty like a dumpster, as if no one cleaned it for a year. But the worst part was the service! We scheduled an appointment but waited for 25 minutes anyway, because the lady had a lunch break she was late coming back from. She was the worst service provider we have ever encountered with the worst attitude a person can have.
This is the worst postal office in the state. They pretend like they try to deliver your package but they don't. Plenty times security footage shows how the delivery guys walk up to my stoop and just walk away. Then they say failed attempt and store it at postal office. Then they make you come pick it up. Id be embarrassed to work here.
It’s not so bad... it all depends on your attitude !... Greenpoint has grown immensely in the last few years, however the post office has not since the building was not designed for the current growth. The postal workers in this office work 14-hour shifts to get the mail out and delivered keep that in mind next time your in line !...
I stopped by to send some packages around 10:30 AM and left with a pleasant experience. There was basically no line, so I was taken care of quickly. Maria was professional and customer friendly. The only complaint I have is about cleanliness . However, the garbage was put there with a purpose. It will take you few seconds to use it.
Yup, this is a low bar. Staff are rude and unhelpful. Never really walk away having been able to post anything. Once their computers were down for three days. Not sure why this spot exists... ((small update, feel the above was pretty harsh. Recently had a better experience my last time there,, draw your own conclusions?))
I don’t know how this post office hasn’t been closed down after all the federal audits they have. They hold mail for years, misplace packages, this is both for P.O. Box and residential… the customer service is horrific everyone there hates their job and you can tell by how they do service. They need to fire and rehire !
I wish our neighborhood post office were better but every time I come here the service is atrocious. Last time I mailed a package to China they literally told me they needed something different each time before they'd accept it. So I waited in line at least 3 times. Total time to mail a package, about an hour!
The postman screwed up a delivery of mine, but this post office came to the rescue. They held the package there - and for the mistake they actually took names. (Unprompted by me!) Service was quick, helpful, and efficient. Compared to the Williamsburg P.O. or the one by Madison Sq Garden - this one is aces!
This place should close: too small for Greenpoint. They should renovate! Worst service ever. People are rude and the place is dirty. You do the line for a form that is supposed to be available, you do the line again for sending a letter, tons of people are waiting online and just one person at the counter.
I subscribed to stamps.com and just do it myself so I don't have to deal with the trainwrecks that work there. 5lb scale for free and all the convenience of mailing without having to go to that post office. If there was an option for -star rating I would rate it a -whatever the lowest number was.
Extremely patient, courteous, and helpful service. I've been here a couple of times in the past few months: once for a passport renewal, and once for some shipments. Each time, the staff are great; they even help me save money on shipping options! I will only come here for future shipping needs.
I appreciate the dedication of this branch's staff during the difficult covid-19 times. The store was clean, organized, and as a customer who had to ship a first class package, I was able to be in and out of the store within 5 minutes. What more could one expect? Very nice employee, too. Thanks.
I rarely leave a review, these employees are just plain rude, doesn't really matter what attitude you bring. I slightly understand since this place is definetly understaffed and it's always packed in there but my God these guys really seem like they hate their jobs and the people they deal with.
This is the WORST post office in the history of the USPS. The managers are incompetent, the wait times are an average of an hour, they schedule way too many passport appointments and often staff just one window. It is an absolute disgrace so poorly managed it's beyond me how they stay open.
All given problems aside with mail delivery in general, I find the people who work here always quite pleasant and super helpful. This has been my post office for at least 10 years. There have been a couple of lost packages but it has actually not been the *local* post office’s fault
This is the rudest staff of USPS employees I have ever met! I can't stand this P.O. the customer service there is extremely poor. One of the young women who works there is RUDE and always give me such attitude, like doing her job and mailing my package is her inconvenience.
I rarely write reviews, but the unnecessarily rude staff at this location nearly brought me to tears when I tried to send an international package. Not only do they ignore you as long as possible, they don't even try to mask their contempt for certain types of customers.
FRAUD ALERT!!!! THEY ARE STEALING PACKAGES AT THIS LOCATION. I have 5 tracking numbers that said delivered but were not delivered. OVER INSURE YOUR PACKAGE AND MAKE THEM PAYUP WHEN THEY LOSSE IT! They dont pick up the phone they are rude people. @USGOV needs to step in
Dropped a USPS return package in the mailbox out front. The package was never registered as sent. Seems someone was picking through and stole it because otherwise the tracking would have registered if properly entered in to the system. That's $200 lost. POOR business.
I arrived with a smile and left very upset by the unpleasant and unhelpful of the attendant who was angry that I didn’t know what she was supposed to explain to me. Unfortunately it’s a public service and she should know to be at least polite with the public…
Untidy, unprofessional, and terrible service. Place is probably worst post office in New York and is surprisingly still horrible after 15 years. No AC or fan in lobby. Long lines. No packaging materials and drop box areas are overflowing. Really a disgrace.
The 2 ladies at the service window had attitudes because I was bringing my packages to the window... which makes no sense. Some of the staff at this post office are very unprofessional. If you don't like your job find another! Don't take it out on others.
Hands down the worst service I have ever received. The staff here are so rude and cold!! With it being my local post office I have had to use it more than I would have liked and my experience has never changed. Management need to sort this place out!
ZERO. I had a package worth $450, that was marked as delivered and cannot be found anywhere. Mysteriously missing and can't get in touch with the post office over phone so guess i'll have to show my face in what seems to be a nightmare of an office.
All post offices have some downside (long lines, rude staff, disorganization, etc.) due to lack of government funding - this location has some of the nicest clerks I’ve ever met at a NY based post office; thank you for your hard work and your help!
Extremely rude staff. Postal worker made a comment about my hand written labels being “horrible writing “. You would think with the struggles the postal office is going through right now, the staff would be more interested in keeping their jobs.
This is the worst service I have ever seen. I am a foreigner and I was trying to understand which enveloppes to use, stamps and thought I could get help from the people working there. Not only they didn’t help me but they were incredibly rude.
i would give this zero stars if i could. showed up at 12:45pm to discover no one was working from 12:30-2:00pm. no reason given, just a poorly typed word doc printed and posted on the front door. hours were to be open til 5. this is absurd.
I’m pretty sure they don’t even have a phone connected to there phone line. They have never answered. The staff acts like you’re inconvencing them. I’m not a stickler for decor, it looks like a post office in 1977 South Bronx in there too.
I’ll give it a 2.5 you never really know what to expect with the waiting in line some days are slow, some days are better than others. Staff does not keep store clean. Today I came in & had clerk 97 she had a very bad attitude. Be kinder.
they were super helpful—i had a bunch or little envelopes and one big box and the woman helped me figure out the cheapest way to ship everything. super accommodating. i just wish this post office was closer to the train. …
Always understaffed, always dirty, never has envelopes or labels and I’ve only been here once and had the self-serve shipping machine work. USPS PLEASE give funding to this branch, or at the very least a mop and trash can. Yikes.
We've now been waiting for a mail delivery for 3 business days. They take the phone off the hook so you can't even get through to complain. If I ran by business this way I'd be gone. The postmaster of this office should be fired.
I live in Greenpoint and I think these people are fabulous. Every time I go in they are courteous and professional. Highlight: I went to renew my passport and the woman basically held my hand through the whole thing. Much love!
Extremely unprofessional woman behind the counter today. I got absolutely chewed out for asking the price of a box I wasn’t expecting to have to purchase with a pre paid label today. Submitted a formal complaint to USPS.
they're all on their phones behind the glass, and will tap on the glass pointing at the sign that reads "please wait to be called" if you approach any of the three available "attendants".. completely unhelpful and rude
This post office is a nightmare. Waited over and hour to send a few packages and the lady at the window told me I can only send 1 a day. This is nonsense, she just did not feel like doing the work. Avoid this place.
This is by far the most poorly run post office I have ever visited. The clerks are among some of the rudest government employees I have ever spoken with. The wait is at least 30 minutes at any given time of day.
USPS lost my parcel and were so rude I was shocked. They gave me no help in finding the lost package whatsoever. Arguably the worst customer service I’ve ever experienced. If I could zero stars I would
8/3/23: the lobby is supposed to open at 6am for package drop offs. I got there at 7:15 and it was still closed, doors locked, lights off even though there were employees there loading the trucks.
This has to be the worst post office ever, rude employees, horrible service, employees treat you bad packages get lost or go missing.. please stay away go to a different USPS if you must use them
Some of these reviewers must never have been to a really bad post office because this one is like a shining star compared to most! I have always found the staff very helpful and patient.
Felt like I had to put up a positive review here since most of them are horrible. The staff may not be the friendliest, but in my experiences, they've been pretty helpful regardless :)
Two different signs, two lines and lo and behold (not really) only one clerk. What's the point? The lack of organization is sad, hope they're able to turn it around or just shut down.
Worst usps of all time. You should anticipate waiting in line at least an hour. Rudest staff on the planet as well. They have four windows but there’s only ever one person working.
Employee wouldn't give me her name but I never came across someone so disrespectful. If she isn't happy with her job, then step aside, there are many who wished they had one.
A disgrace that Greenpoint has this poor excuse for a post office to tend to its needs. Rudeness is the byword here. And a real confederacy of dunces, it appears.
I have only had great experiences in this post office. I recently came in to update my passport. Very kind, patient, and helpful people work here. Thank you guys!
