I've been here on occasion over the past five years. The line, if any, consistently moves quick, and I've had several instances of warm, careful and efficient service (my own errors being caught by the postal worker). P.S. -- If I may just put it out there: the boarded-up windows need to be corrected. The space, itself, feels almost sickly -- dull & claustrophobic. I really think that our civil servents there and the public as a whole can agree that a bit of light would be good. And, if at all possible, why not restore the street-facing, boarded-up windows with *stained glass*. Then, we can all be reminded about how amazing our country is that sending something to someone over there (not a trivial thing to pull off) happens reliably well. God Bless America! Let's all try not to ruin this good thing we got going here. Let's all come together over a BBQ and a sprinkler hear, and be good neighbors to each other again. Let's all welcome the stranger like the classic American legend of the pilgrims and the Indians at Plymouth Rock. It's also in the story of our Lord and savior, Jesus Christ, was welcomed into the world. It was by the grace of a stranger giving Joseph and Mary shelter and warmth as they journeyed to back to Bethlehem. Neighborliness, tolerance of "others," kindness and hospitality to your guests ... so the story goes (in both cases). Let's all, please, remember what America is about at heart: neighbors figuring out how to distribute the bounty and wealth we all create together, and allocate through our direct engagement in our own community. Sure, it rarely ends up fair or just, and that really, really sucks, but this society is orders of magnitude *more* fair and just than it often is elsewhere. The injustices and wrongdoings that populate the news feeds, *will* be worked out; that is, if America finds the guts to turn back toward it's essence: if you're on this land, our land, then it's also your land; from California, to the New York Island. This place is right down the street from my office so I usually stop here to mail things given the convenience. That all just changed. I just stopped by to drop off my save the dates which my fiancée & I handmade & have been working on for the past 2 weeks. When dropping into the mail window, I heard all of my save the dates fall on the floor(there was no basket beneath). Concerned, I went around to the front desk to simply ask a female employee if she saw this happen & could make sure they all got picked up. I even offered to help. Instead of a gracious response I was given attitude & then was mocked with a "congratulations" at the end. What a great experience in the wedding process. In a time when customer service can really differentiate in store with everything shifting online, you failed to deliver.

I've never been to any USPS locations that have decent services, and this one is not an exception. I don't really mind the long lines and slow services, but at least treat your customers with respect. I came in asking to track a package that has been held at the post office for too long (and I don't know the exact location to pick it up), and the lady there simply told me to "figure it out myself". Her answers surprised me and other customers in line that there was a guy standing in front of me offered to help me using his experiences. Seriously tho, as a customer I expect the minimum customer service to be polite and respectful. I try to avoid USPS as much as I can, and even if I have to pay a bit more for FedEx and UPS, the service there makes me feel like my money is totally worth it.

  • Steven Anthony

Even on google the locations info states peak times are 1 pm 2 pm...that also happens to be the time when the 3 or 4 people they have working the counters go on lunch, the line was very long a customer said hello i just want to know about stamping this and the counter person literally said idk im going on lunch right now. Everyone was very angry the staff are very disrespectful and not helpful at all. Trust me spend the extra $5 and go to fed ex or somewhere. I just tried to call and the automatic voice says there is no customer service at this time...smh.

  • Sanat Dangol

The person was very rude. I had letter that needed to be posted and wanted to buy some stamps. I did not properly know how to purchase time so I asked some questions. 3 questions and a very short one which he could have given one word answers but did not cooperate at all. He seemed to have a very good time while he served a "female" person (long for others in line) but aparently did not have time for my 3 questions and declined to provide good service. He just wants to sell- very bad customer service. Do bother going in. let them shut down.

this post office is full of idiots. the left side does not know what is happening in right side. i am no surprise that USPS almost went on bankruptcy due to the idiots that work there. they cannot make anything the are hopeless and the delivery guy is the most idiot person in the entire company(that's why they work for USPS otherwise they will be engineer). try to sta away from them you can use other great shipping co. like FEDEX/UPS/DHL/TNT(much better service and they work there to help you and make your life easier the opposite of USPS).

  • Nia Imani

Ms Jones is an unprofessional menace. I called this office to inquire about a missing package. She hung up on me twice and was very nasty each time. When I asked what happened to my package she said”I don’t know, I don’t know anything what do you want me to do?” If you don’t know anything you shouldn’t have a job and you definitely shouldn’t be dealing directly with customers. It’s already ridiculous that they lost my certified Mail, but to be so dismissive and purposefully unhelpful makes me never want to use USPS again

  • Yan Wu

Usually go to PO on 38th, by Madison Square, or local in Brooklyn. Best PO experience using this location. The clerk helping me was great, and though I didn't personally need her assistance, but there was a lady who was walking around helping people with the proper documents, boxes, opt to use the self-service machine instead, etc., so customers were in and out pretty quickly. Note: I was here around 10am, so lunchtime might not be as quick, but a definite good experience with people who actually seem to want to help.

  • Matthew Bovenzi

A US Post Office with decent service. There is actually an employee whose job it is to walk around the floor and answer questions, help with customer flow, etc. This prevents you from waiting in line for 15 minutes only to realize you should've picked up a different box, filled out a certain form, etc, and helps you complete tasks at the self-service machines that you might not realize you could do otherwise. Very helpful. Hours are inconvenient.

  • Locknath Singh

I prefer to go here than any other station because it’s conveniently located & within walking distance. Sometimes it’s busy and sometimes it’s not. There’re self-service machines so you can help yourself. Janet, a terrific, friendly & knowledgeable employee, is always available to help. She speeds the line up by constantly walking up to the line and asking customers to assist them with the machines where many accepted her assistance.

  • Florian Krisch

Long lines and an absolutely disrespectful service. The guy shouted at me, because I approached him. I was standing first in line for 5 minutes and thought it is my turn, when he yelled "next". Apparently he meant someone behind me in line. As if that wasnt enough he yelled at me "Whats wrong with you people?" - Great service USPS. Not delivering overnight shipments in time and yelling at your customers...

  • Eddie Going

7th circle of hell. Bad attitudes all around. Not helpful. And, under NO CIRCUMSTANCES, DO NOT STEP UP to an associate until they call next or you will be HUMILIATED for all to see. Bring your own tape and pens because they are NOT providing ANYTHING and you'd be an IDIOT to think otherwise. I get it, it's a thankless job, I GET IT -- however, don't come to work if you're not prepared to work.

  • flo m

The staffs are very mean and rude. They don't know how to corteously approach and help their customer. They made you feel stupid. I went there to ask for help on how to purchase an express envelope, so of course I need to ask questions. They can direct us in a nice way, not in a rude way. 1 star is not enough, if there is -100 star I would definitely rate them this way. God bless them.

  • Marwan Kaddoura

We were on a touristic visit to NYC, and had to drop a package from this office to FL. The employee was very rude, grumpy and very non-cooperative, for no apparent reason. It left us with very bad impression about the place and the people there. This should be addressed by their management about how these employees treat people. We thought that his motives were only racist.

  • TMB

Really wonderful staff at this location, always happy and helpful. I messed up the zip code on three certified mail letters, and the agent took the time to re-do everything with a smile even though it was my mistake. Consistently excellent experiences here. Kudos to the station manager as well, who you'll often see walking through the line conversing with the patrons.

  • Anton Paloka

I walked in here expecting the worst based on some of these reviews. Got on line at approx 1145AM with two people in it and didn't wait more than 5 minutes, they told me what I needed to prepare prior to shipping and that I could use self service or the line. I got back on line and was called right away. They were all helpful and nice.

  • Dani Wise

Horribly rude staff. I was waiting in line with a pre-paid package and a worker came up saying anyone with prepaid packages could give them to her instead of waiting. 1 minute later I realized I needed a tracking number still and she refused to go back and get my package to give me the tracking number since I didn’t request it upfront.

  • M. Henry

Such a terrible post office. I sent a package via Priority Mail to NJ and somehow it ended up in NH. The last time I sent something via Priority Mail it took a week to get to the destination. No one barely answers the phones and when they do they are so quick to hang up after hearing your question. Terrible service all around.

  • Liam Lin

customer service? hell no. All they have is rude. They enjoy yelling at customers and assume people know everything about their mailing service. If you ask one or two question they will start YELL at you. Then what is the need for you to work in the post office? ITS YOUR JOB IF YOU HATE IT THEN QUIT IT.

  • K Tempest Bradford

Is this post office a state secret? Why is the entrance so hard to find? Why are the hours so wonky (3pm close? seriously?) Why is it so dingy in there? At least there is an automated service machine so you can avoid a line if all you want to do is ship a package. That's about all that's positive.

  • Chao L

Super friendly staff. I came to buy envelopes. They kindly let me know the correct type of envelopes and stamps I need. They gave me very detailed instructions on how to fill the fields and track the mails. They provided me the best services I have ever seen in nyc for a long time. Five stars!!

  • Alison Weingarten

I know it's pointless to review a NYC USPS since they're all pretty terrible, but this one's no exception. No one's around to help, no one will make eye contact when you have a question, no one will smile at you, it's as if everyone there is deliberately as unhelpful as possible.

  • Deborah Bryant-Coundoul

Would be nice if the hours were consistent…on the website it says they open at 7am. A USPS employee walked by me and said 7:30am. They only open at 7am during the first week of the month. Would be nice for this to be posted on their website for the convenience of the customers.

  • Matt Y

Low Quality- I was there early to complete a simple transaction. The place was almost empty, but the employees all seemed extremely agitated. They gave only vague answers to my questions, and their responses directly conflicted with the posted signs. Overall horrid experience.

  • Iza R

I have no idea what the problem is but everything I dropped off in this post office is not moving for 15 days already (14 items) this is insane... If you have a business don’t drop your stuff there, unless you want to refund your clients and lose all of your merchandise.

  • Jillian Paige

I’ve never had such a positive experience at a post office. Janet helped me and was so kind and didn’t make me feel like any of my questions were stupid, even though I felt like they were things I should have known. Hardly any wait and such a pleasant environment.

  • Fred Yang

Terribly slow, even if you need to write address on the label at the counter, the staff won't let you stay and you have to write somewhere else and go back to end of the line. Self service machine is also very non-intuitive. I would give zero star if there is one.

  • Benjamin Reynolds

As of this post, this office is down to one functional stamps machine. The employees are some of the rudest you will ever encounter, and they managed to misroute a critically important package. Small wonder people try to avoid using the postal service these days.

  • H S

The lady who I’ve seen only at the first desk on the right hand side... RUDE! She’s middle aged, darker complexion, and wears a weave, yeah she’s just nasty. Doesn’t have the time to be kind, answer questions, smile, be accommodating or be of any service.

  • Elisa

I send an international mail with express for emergency situation last week. It was supposed to complete to be sent to destination within a week, but I just found that a staff made typo error. Completely spoiled the sending email on time..

  • Irene Tsai

The USPS on E. 55th and E. 70th are super friendly and helpful; I go all the time. Was in the area at this location to mail a package and the workers here (2 of them) were rude and condescending. What is up with the attitude problem here.

  • Brian Dunlop

This USPS location is one of the best I've used and I've been in here frequently. The line can be long (it's midtown) but they keep it moving. Every counter person I've encountered here has been friendly and efficient, asking the right

  • Wade Yates

This USPS has been holding my package hostage for OVER A MONTH. They have a return address and have yet to send it back since April 13th. Someone needs to be fired since I’ve complained, called and showed in person numerous times.

  • Pamela Peterson

Gdmng sadly to say I got to this p.o at 655. Went into d.d next door came out 701. Lights was on This branch did not open at no 7 o'clock or 710. I rang the bell knock on windows I had to be at work by 730/ 16th st Travel from bx

  • Joy Zhou

usps is really awful. I shipped four 2days priority mail. They just delivered two of them. Another two mail is still under delay state for 12days. They just told me just wait. What the hell! Will never use USPS again!

  • Wantic Wolf

I often go there in the early morning, the service is good and the staffs are really helpful. Especially after a terrible experience at the one near bus authority terminal, I definitely will come back here next time.

  • Cycle Sing

3:30 on a Monday afternoon... I had an item to ship and was unsure what the best packaging and rate would be. The help I received was cheerful and clear...and the line of twelve or so people moved quickly : )

  • Stephen Hui

The entrance is next to the Dunkin donuts. Staff is helpful in making sure you get what you need. Wait during lunch can be quite long, and they close pretty early. Drop by early on the morning if possible.

  • Chris Paine

Great experience here - helpful, friendly staff that advised me on how to best ship my package (e-commerce shipment with pre-paid label, but I needed a box and some bubble wrap). I was in and out quickly!

  • ENEBELI ELIZABETH

I have been trying to arrange a re delivery in United Kingdom and I can’t. I have also tried the customer care number but nothing. This is the only place I can get through. Please can you do something

  • Ariana Jordan

Horrible, our PRIORITY mail has been dropped off for our lawfirm and the post office has been giving us the run around, suddenly it hasnt been received by them, MIA. Unbelievable and horrible service.

  • S7

Nastiest clerks on the face of the planet especially the one with the weekly alternating hair color. I look forward to the day when Amazon starts a delivery service and puts the USPS out of business.

  • Harleen Sahni

Pretty good, friendly staff, especially the lady who helps manage the line, answers questions, and direct people on how to use self service machines. Wait times can be long towards lunch.

  • Samantha Campbell

For a postal service in New York this is the best one I've been to since I moved here in 2004. Well done. Line is long but so is the line at UPS and it costs double to ship with them

  • Kiersten Gourlay

As a frequent USPS visitor, this is the most efficient one I️ have been to. In a hurry? Local tip: set-price priority shipping, pay with card and they will call you to skip the line.

  • Stephen Bae

Thursday at 10am. No one in line, folks here are pleasant to deal with and knowledgable. Definitely the best post office I've been to in Manhattan. No stress with going to this one!

  • VW

The window clerk, Janice, was helpful, attentive, and quick! I was not the only one who benefited from her help. She is a true problem solver and an example of customer service!

  • Peter Pugliese

The inside of this post office is pretty overdue for a makeover. Staff are decent and usually helpful though. They open early if you're trying to mail something before work.

  • Rommero Carrillo

Literally had the best experience in NYC in this book store. The happiest and most positive staff. As they said, “Thank you for your energy”. No, thank YOU for your energy!

  • Jasmine Carrero

Went there today (cause it said it was open) and the doors are locked! Same with rothe Times Sq location. Said it's open at 9am, doors are open but no one is at the windows

  • Bassem

They never answer the phone and when I went to them they are a bunch of unhelpful staff very rude unprofessional and useless . from now on FedEx and UPS are my best friend

  • Akana Dior

They provide an important service and don't get enough credit. This location and workers here are great and very helpful. I see you USPS workers, I see you. Thank you!

  • Kayla Alamo

Honestly the best post office experience. Im so used to post offices having very rude employees but no, not this one. Everyone is very nice, helpful and attentive.

  • Kanika Bansal

I have never met more helpful people in my life. Ms. Jones is the best person you will ever meet. She will help you to the best of your ability! Thank you so much!

  • Edwin Martinez

These people Hate their job, like we're doing them a favor, they would rather chitchat about nothing rather than help people which they are getting paid to do.

  • Charlotte Hallaways

So incredibly helpful and friendly. Everyone was so concerned about getting my gifts home in the most cost effective / quick way and made it so quick and easy.

  • JULIE POSNER

This Post Office has friendly staff and they always help you with mailing information. So this is the post office I go for Priority Mails or Certified Mails.

  • A L

Above and beyond services!! The lady works here went her way out to help me put together my mailing label and stuff. She’s so kind and friendly.

  • educstr

Is it too much to ask to open at the right hours? This branch is supposed to open at 7am during week days but most of time employees are late.

  • leo perez (Leo_seguridad)

Great customer service by Janice Jackson. Helped me from back of line to use machine to print out 2 stamps and certificate of mail. Thank you.

  • Ramya Raman

Upset staff, have to pay for tape that used to be for communal use in the past, and begrudgingly helpful. Sounds about right for a USPS.

  • M K

The worker here was so polite and lovely, she really made my day. she answered all my questions and helped me with everything i needed.

  • Chipolata sausage

Had a great experience at this office. Wasn't familiar with the postal service here as lm visiting from overseas. Thank you ladies.

  • Brianna N Lynch

This location opens when they feel like it. Everyone is either late or just inside with the doors locked keeping customers waiting.

  • Anish Jain

Everyone was friendly, and the line moved fast at 3pm. Sure it's the post office, but this one was far more professional than most.

  • Ciandria Francis

Betsy and Ms.Jackson were so helpful and patient with me. I’m super inexperienced with mailing things and they made it easy!!!

  • Josh Arbuckle

Best service ever at a post office. They were so nice to me, not rushed, unlike my usual location on the UES. What a pleasure.

  • Erik O

As others have said, the staff here does a pretty good job keeping the line moving and also being courteous and professional.

  • Richard Butterworth

Staff are always so so miserable and moody, it makes doing any kind of business here really awkward and a total vibe-killer.

  • Antonette Pineda

The lady was very very very rude. Very unprofessional. She does not try to understand the situation and assume things!

  • harpreet singh

Service is horrible at this location. Do yourself a favor and avoid counter help. They are very rude and useless.
