I am LIVID!!!! I just got off the phone with the station manager & thoroughly explained my frustration with the carrier & mentioned my issues from last week's delivery where the carrier refused to use the call box, & I'll be damned if the same carrier didn't just again not use the callbox. How can you claim to have attempted to make a delivery when you don't use the call box to notify the resident you're at their property gate entry?! Funny how UPS & FedEx delivery drivers understand this concept but triffling postal carriers don't. Well the joke is on this carrier because I've already reported this is exactly what happened with my last package, & I shouldn't have to call & complain in order to get carriers to properly do their job. -Update to original post/review below... This station is completely unprofessional, & the station manager should be ashamed at their tolerance of subpar service. This is the 2nd time in barely a week I've had to call regarding the status of a package I'm expecting. I'm tired of carriers refusing to use the callbox to notify me to come to the door to receive my package. This time it's even worse because the carrier is simply refusing to deliver my package. On Tuesday February 26th my package went out for delivery at 10:01am, at 7:15pm I received a notification telling me due to an operational delay my package would be rescheduled for delivery today the 27th. After seeing my carrier leave & still no package I called the station & was told the carrier had my package & should be delivering it, when I explained the carrier had come & gone I was told some carriers deliver the mail first & then come back to deliver packages. I was outraged to hear of such a ridiculous policy, & then was told this isn't proper procedure, but something the Station Manager is allowing. It was a little after 1pm when the carrier delivered the mail, at five past 5pm I'm still waiting on my package. The 1800 number is useless & clearly so are the surveys & complaints if this is still being allowed! Absolutely insane, & someone needs to be held accountable!!!
This post office doesn't even serve 1 star. The worst service that I have experienced in my life consistently happens here. At this very moment, I am waiting in queue on the phone with the USPS customer service line to file a complaint. I just picked up a letter and the enveloped was ripped open when I pulled it from the mail box. The only reason I am imagine the person opening my mail is to retrieve something inside. I tried calling the direct line to the office but, of course, there was no pick up after several rings. Typical...In the past, I have others person's mail delivered to me and of course had mine not delivered. I filed a complaint...no one ever responded , then within a week or two I was emailed asking for a survey of their response...what response?! I have tried filing a BBB complaint. But I found that the public cannot file a complaint against USPS . Go figure...This office does even serve the community properly and effectively the only reason they are in existence as far as I am concerned is to GIVE the workers there a job. This joke of a company has the never to have commercial aimed at increasing the awareness that customers are first! Ha!!! They wonder why UPS and FedEx are preferred. PLEASE CLOSED DOWN THE 47TH COTTAGE GROVE OFFICE !! EVERYONE COMPLAINS ABOUT THEIR SERVICE OR LACK THERE OF. WHAT IS THE POINT!? I typically go outside my neighborhood to mail items because I have no confidence in the this location. 4601 S. Cottage Grove Ave. Chicago, Illinois aka JOKE. No pride in work for delivering mail in this neighborhood.
I don't even know where to start. From unprofessional employees and lack of leadership/management working inside of their facility to their mail carriers (60653) typically claiming to have delivered packages that were never even attempted. This place unfortunately has both. But the main reason for writing this review was because this specific location's mail carriers will typically mark undelivered packages as "delivered" and UNATTEMPTED delivery packages as "Delivery attempted. Package will be held at facility per customer's request". I've read other reviews from other sites and they literally have HUNDREDS of negative comments that are all saying what I'm saying right now in regards to packages being falsely marked as being "delivered" when no attempt was ever made. Many were suggesting that there is a possible "theft ring" going on over there and that their management might be involved. That's a strong accusation to make, but at this point, I'm starting to believe that hundreds of people complaining over the same exact delivery issue(s) is not a coincidence. This place needs to be, and more than likely will be one day, investigated by corporate level management. I don't think it can get any worse than this.
I have a package that has been at the post office since February 5th, and when I tried to go pick it up, they told me: 1. "Your carrier was out and no one could cover the route so everything is piled up. We will have someone look for it after hours so leave your info and we'll call you when we find it." I went in a week later because I still hadn't received a call and I was told 2. "We aren't allowed to give packages through the window" (though I watched someone else receive a package). "Leave your info an someone will call you." I went back a week later and they told me 3."Your carrier came back today but she has to sort packages so she won't be delivering anything today." I was confused because the day before I had another package delivered, that was sent more recently, and I was told 4. "That's because if there is someone to cover the route that day, the new packages get delivered to stay on schedule, and the late ones get left aside because they're already late." So, good luck
This has been a consistently awful location for years. I avoid it when I can. Today I spent an hour with dozens of others to pick up package that has been “held” (supposedly at my request) only to have the window slammed on me by a worker who said she was going on break and didn’t need to help me since she didn’t like my tone. Then, they miraculously delivered it tonight. Every time I go in there I wonder why it hasn’t been closed yet. Hit the red button. Oh wait. It didn’t work and they were out of sanitizer anyway. Update: against my better judgement, I went back after over a year. They had no stamps! I was going to take a photo of the sign. They said I couldn’t take photos bc she saw me hold up my phone to another sign. I actually hadn’t talent one, but she insisted I did. Like I’d lie over something that was trivial. To reconcile her insistence with reality, I went ahead and took a photo. How is a post office not going to have stamps?
I shipped xmas gifts for my grandson which arrived at this post office on /12/15; it was scanned it at 4am. My daughter went to the post office on 12/16, she was told they could not find it and to come back the next day. The next day she was told the package was lost and a claim needed to be filed. After numerous calls to the 800 # I was given an incident # and and that someone would call me back (never received a call back). I tracked the package again on 12/26 and the tracking # showed the package was on the delivery truck on 12/15. I called the 800 # again voicing my concerns to be told an investigation will be launched to see if they can trace the package. Needless to say, as of Jan. 9th...no calls from anyone,. Update: My daughter just called today 1/12; package was on her porch last night. I'm grateful it was delivered albeit 3 weeks later!
I went to the post office in a scared frenzy because the passport office sent my passport to the wrong address (after I told confirmed my address 3 times, that's another story) However, it showed that the passport was being sent back to Washington. I contacted the evening Supervisor (a friendly older woman) I am going on my honeymoon and needed my passport ASAP and if it got sent back I would not receive it in time. the Supervisor looked and looked....Which she did not have to do....but she eventually found it out on a truck ready to be sent back...She went above and beyond. The Post office gets a lot of bad press and complaints, but this Supervisor was outstanding from her demeanor to how she diligently went beyond her job to assist me. She has restored my faith in people. Most would have given up..She did not...Thank you USPS!
The first time I visited about a lost package, the guy at the counter was pretty unhelpful and told me they sent it back already. What more could I say? He's the worker, right? He didn't really put in any effort to go to the back and find the package and I was pretty disappointed about that. Not willing to give up, I went back for a second time. I asked Dominique about my situation with a lost package. She went to the back and spent some time searching for it, even tracking down a picture of my package so she could see how it looked like. Sure enough, she came out with my package!! It was in the back! I was ecstatic for that. Hopefully more people can be like Dominique instead of the first guy for future patrons.....I wouldn't give Five Stars to the place overall but I am definitely giving five stars to Dominique.
These people are downright rude. Telling me that they have 30 days to deliver a package sent priority, that it's "high season", that "all this here mail is handled by high-speed robots", that it was my fault that this package has been bopping around Chicago for the past 12 days "because of the weight of the package, and they "way" I mailed it", the fact that it was sorted incorrectly. I was so happy to have a person with a pulse actually answer the phone, but she was not only of no help, she hung up on me. Also, my daughter in Hyde Park says that they haven't received any mail in over a week. This is not normal. Is it not a crime to retain or not deliver mail to the addressee? The USPS wonders why they're losing business? I would rather deal with any other shipping company than the USPS. They suck.
Just to deliver a letter to be sent its been close to 20 min. with only one person ahead of me. The customer on the only window open and the only employee at window 2 have been talking the whole time while there is 2 big taco bell sodas on top of the counter. There seems to be no urgency even though I have 7 people behind me. The fault of this is far from being only on her but also on the management that has only one person attending people and the lack of effective response to address the problem with this USPS location. I live in the area I know about the problems with delivery too, that’s why I’m going to write to senior management at USPS so they can begin to understand the operational problems they need to fix on this location.
Worst place ever...rude staff, not enough staff to service customers, long waits, never get my mail or packages delivered and when I go to the office about not receiving mail for days staff gets attitude. One day I was there and the line was so long with one person at the window, I could hear loud music in the back with other staff in the back laughing and socializing when it should’ve been someone to help the one person at the window. Even my mail carrier is a problem, she handed my package to someone in my building without even asking who the person was and it was a visitor from another tenant leaving so my package was stolen. Usps either needs to hire more professional staff or shut that office down completely!
Worst service EVER. You'll think they'll have a line to assist people who need simple things like stamps, envelopes etc just to get them out quicker. Why make someone wait so long just to buy a envelope.Everyone who comes in here has a mailing issue or package pick up or drop off. You'll be standing in line for almost a hour just to get some stamps. Yall gotta do better . Also the lobby so jacked up. Good luck finding a pen or better yet space to take care of things inside. By the line being so long due to slow service it's never space in the lobby. I literally had to go to my car for a pen and fill out my paper work inside the car before dropping it back off in the post office. A complete disservice.
Call me lucky.... But ive never had any HUGE issues with this post office. Biggest issue is them being short staffed...which creates long wait times. But part of that is customers not being prepaired once they arrive to the window. But as far as the customer service via the representatives...everyone treated me kind. I live in hyde park and Ive built relationships with my local USPS, FedEx & UPS delivery workers...so my mail never gets lost in the system. As for this location....once again...they are short staffed. So when u call...call near closing time. When u show up...come early or near closing time. Like any business that's short staffed...there's a method on how tomget things to work for you!
Poor service... Mail carriers are stealing packages and saying that the packages has been delivered. When you call or go up to the post office you have one of the old ladies at the counter with the nastiest attitudes because she has to go walk and look for a package and when you ask her a question she always have a snotty remark. It's time to retire if she doesn't want to work. I've been calling since Thursday about two packages that wasn't delivered but was marked delivered. I wasn't the only person this happened to when I came to the post office it was 4 of us saying the same thing from the same area. If I can give this post office zero stars it most definitely gotten 0 stars
If I could give them five stars again and again, I would. My express package containing a document I needed to travel had been returned to sender because I had sent it to my friend and my name wasn’t on their mailbox. I called at 5:55pm, 5 minutes before they closed, sobbing because I need that document and immediately the person who picked up the phone reassured me that she would help me. She retrieved the package that had been brought back to the post office, and allowed my friend to swing by after they had closed to pick it up for me. They took so much stress off my shoulders and I cannot thank them enough for the empathy that I was shown today. Thank you so so much.
They have always been highly inefficient. Literally, I have never managed to get a USPS on the day that it is supposed to be delivered. I always have to go to their post office to pick it up, which is highly inconvenient for me. The postmen cannot be bothered to look up my name in the directory at my gate, so they always leave a notice saying they couldn't reach me. The reality is, I cancel all my events for that day just so that I can get my package. It ends up not even being worth it because I never get my package. USPS in general is extremely shitty, but 4601 Cottage Grove takes this shittiness to another level. Congrats for always managing to disappoint me.
They were doing better for a while; but the service has recently gone downhill. We received a delivery attempt notice on 10/7, informing us that we could pick up the package on 10/8. My husband went the afternoon of 10/8 (with the notice and proper ID) and was told that the package wasn't there. The employee at the counter said "Maybe it's out with the mail carrier" When asked about the delivery notice instructions, he was met with a response of 'I don't know. It's probably out with the carrier". So now we have no idea where the package is. I have tried to call...they don't answer. Why is it so difficult for the USPS employees to follow their own procedures?
Just about every time I order something and usps at this location is the third party delivery it’s always something like sending my package back when it clearly has the address all the way down to the apartment number but they put no such address. Now I was scheduled yesterday for a delivery and it stated it is out for delivery at 7 in the morning now it saying pending with no further delivery date. I do understand what’s going on. But they are still unprofessional there and act like it take a rocket scientist to deliver mail. I wish they do better we do rely on them to make more of an effort but the way it’s been going I guess I’m wishing for a miracle. Smh
The one star represents zero stars. This location has lost my mail on multiple occasions. I get a door tag with a tracking number, go to the location, wait in line over 10 minutes and they can never find the letters the tag asked me to pick up. Never. The “customer service rep” could care less and basically shrugs and sends me to an unmanned “delivery supervisor” window just to get his line moving. No apology. No attempt to try and track important IRS mail. I can understand that mail gets lost, but it’s their attitudes that are the worst. No people skills whatsoever. What’s the point of leaving a door tag if you can’t find the mail anyway?
TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE, Was in here for an hr, the lady at the window was rude and lazy. They claim they attempted to deliver my package and left a notice, in which they didn’t. I called the next day, they said they’d call back if they found out where it was. Then nobody called me back, and I came up here. I had to ask for a supervisor 4 times before someone actually came out (took 45 min). Don’t ever get a package delivered in the 60653 area if this USPS is your home location, they’re so lazy! I am highly disappointed because 5 other people were dealing with similar issues and they were sending them home. They need to be re-staffed!
This is the worst Post Office possibly in the country. They need a from top to bottom restructuring. Most of the employees don't do there job and when you order something most of the time there is a delay or your package ends up lost. This has happened on numerous occasions with this Post Office. I had a package that said out for delivery on Dec 24 and today is the 29th and still no package. I call and go up there and they don't know where its at and try to tell me it was scanned out but never was really out for delivery. USPS needs to go out of business. Most of the employees at this location are incompetent and have nasty attitudes.
This post office is the worst I’ve ever experienced. Echoing many people, if I could give it 0 stars I would. Carriers routinely lost my mail/packages, but would mark it as delivered or delivery attempted. When I drive over to ask about it, constantly met with rude staff that are angry at me that I’m asking about MY lost packages. The manager even admitted to me that she knows carriers steal/lose packages and don’t even attempt to deliver them. But nothing changes. It’s really sad that I feel like I have to go to white neighborhoods to get halfway decent service. Why can’t I get that at the post office up the street from me?
I never do reviews but I have to tell everyone how terrible this location is. They lose packages, steal packages, when delivering just lock packages in the mailroom of your residence building for days without any notification. You literally have to stalk them. When you call they never pick up and when you go in person the employees are so unorganized and unprofessional the wait time is about an hour, not to mention they won’t help with the issue at all. I’ve been living in this neighborhood for 10+ years, as far as I’m concerned They might as well shut this location down because it’s completely useless.
If I could give this office 0 stars I would. If you value your money, time, or peace of mind please don't deal with this post office. I have been treated horribly the 7 times I have been in this post office for a lost package I have been trying to locate for 2 months! I was given incorrect information from the workers there and supervisors. This office has investigations going on for mail/packages mysteriously going missing and the disrespect to customers. If you have to deal with this post office you're better off forgetting about the issue, because they don't care enough to do their jobs to help you.
This is the WORST UNPROFESSIONAL place ever. They really need to shut this place down and start over with a friendlier team of people. I went to pick up a package for my husband in which he signed the pink slip for me to pick it up. The lady told me I couldn't pick up because I need his ID. If that’s the case, why wasn’t it stated on the pink slip??? Then I asked to speak with a manager. And one lady stated that the manager is unavailable with a nasty tone of voice. I’ve never been to a postal service that was so rude and disrespectful. I wish I could rate this 0 stars.
Went here today, and there was one woman there who was very rude! She said I had to have an id that matched where my package was sent. This is the first time I heard of this, but she continued to be rude, and ignored me like I was leaving without my package. I was leaving with my package whether she like it or not! I got my package from a nicer employee who was working, because this other old bird is so miserable with her life that she has to take it out on customers! This was a terrible experience, and this place needs to be thoroughly investigated and improved!
Every time I come to this location I have to wait at least 30 minutes to pick up a package. The lines are always super long and it’s never enough staff! It literally doesn’t matter what time of the day I come. They need to change this mess or shut it down all together! And the mail carrier never delivers my packages on time and never leaves a notice indicating I have a package to pick up. This results in the post office sending my packages back to sender when I’m not even aware it was attempted to be delivered.
Terrible customer service. I paid for 6 months for a PO Box and the worker proudly boasted about sending my mail back to sender repeatedly. Despite my business name being on the application and on previous mail, it was sent back. I tried talking to a supervisor who walked away in the middle of the conversation. I reported them to the customer service number and still no resolution. I decided to take my business elsewhere to another competitor, better equipped to meet my business needs (minus the hassle).
Yes the lines are long, yes the building is old and non modernized. But everyone I go there are multiple windows open along with an "express" package pickup only window. The branch services a huge community so I can deal with lines. What I can't deal with is poor and unprofessional service. Luckily I have not experienced that here. Helpful and even service with a smile. Maybe my experience is the anomaly but i also know people are quicker to write a complaint than they are to issue compliments
Would give it negative stars if I could. This is the WORST post office in the area. Be prepared to deal with rude employees and always a 45 minute wait, no matter what time of the day it is. It seems that no one here really wants to do their job. They need to clean out the bathroom lace and hire a set of dedicated individuals that want to get people in and out in a timely manner. I hate having to come into this place for ANYTHING. A superior from USPS needs to come and get this together.
This is the worst Post Office. There is absolutely no customer service from the cashiers. The is always a line including as I type this review and wait for a manager. On top of that I seem to experience with my mail carrier all the time and nothing seems to change. It doesn't matter how many times I come into this location there are no improvements. Beside they need to clean the inside of their lobby as the floors are filthy due to the snow and foot traffic.
It’s absurd how this post office operates. You walk in and no one is at a window. You can hear plenty of people in the back laughing and carrying on, but at the window there is no one. It once took an hour to get someone to hand me my package. The feds should just save their money and close this place down. We, the taxpayers, are better off going to a further post office, even 30 min away because we would still get out stuff done in a quicker fashion.
Nasty staff that don't wanna work, but they want a paycheck that they can cash in. They don't wanna move or go get your mail and I just left there with my mom and they had us fill out a form and write or names and addresses down and any concerns we may have. I like the way the building is designed, but I don't like the employees. They should fire the current employees and get new employees. But you can expect that dealing with your own kind.
This five star review is solely reserved for QUINCEY MCKNIGHT. This exceptional post office personnel went above and beyond to retrieve and deliver an official document which might’ve been lost had it not been for his resourcefulness and diligence. I’m forever grateful. Kudos, brother! However, for the rest of the personnel who with their unprofessional attitude made it an unpleasant situation, this five star rating isn’t for you.
I just moved to the bronzeville area from NWI and the mail here is so horrible, I was expecting packages 7 days ago and haven’t received an update for tracking in 9 days. I read everyone’s reviews and now know to have my mail delivered back home instead of here. Theirs so many people out of a job from the pandemic that they should hire all new people that will actually do their jobs and not sit around and collect a paycheck
This post office has THE WORST customer service. I dread, and I do mean dread having to go here. Only one person does passports, therefore you can only get one when she is there. The line is always long because of the lack of staff...however you hear staff workers laughing, playing music in the back of the post office. I have waited in line for over 45 minutes on several occasions. Its a disappointment every time.
This post office has the worst staff by far. I have been here multiple times for a package that says it’s being held there per customer request and they never even go look for it. The customer service is poor and they need to have better training for staff on that. Maybe they should hire new staff and fire the ones who have been there for a while who refuse to actually do their job. Shut it down or hire new staff.
This post office is terrible! They lie and say you told them to hold your package at the post office and then when go pick up the package they say it’s out for delivery! Yet you still never get the package! I have six packages that have been in the city since July 1st and here are on the 10th and I still have yet to see one of them! I’m extremely annoyed and know calling won’t do a thing to get my package
This will be sad to say but this post office always has only 1 person working the desk if you can find them. Customer service is horrible. The word slow would actually be a compliment to the nonexistent service. They need a whole new team in this office. Every time I come here it’s the same thing nobody at the window or their working like snails. I wish there was a button for no stars
Oh thank God for the team at the (4601 S. Cottage Grove) Post Office. They have saved me twice by being thoughtful and courteous. They have been a blessing in my community and I’m praying for them. The are on the frontlines during this pandemic, yet they are cheerful and polite. I pray the government gives them the tools they need to be safe and efficient for 2021 and beyond.
Unsure why this place has received such low ratings. I went to renew my passport and I could not have been happier with the service. The lady working at the office was very patient and helpful while taking the passport photo and sorting through the necessary steps and paperwork. Overall I had a very positive experience here, and the whole renewal process took under an hour.
I came to this location about one week ago. My concern was I have not been receiving any mail at my home address. The clerk at the window was very kind. I was told no one have a bid on my route so it could be weeks before their on schedule. I understand staffing sometimes can be a hassle but to not receive any mail in a month is ridiculous.
Mail is always undelivered. I was at the door when they opened late. Waited 45 minutes for them to say the carrier was off 5 days and just took our buildings mail out 10 minutes ago; and come back if I don’t get mail today. So frustrating. This has happened numerous times. Very frustrating.
Jeanette Dennis was great! she not only helped me look for my package but she brought up an image of my package so we could verify if it was addressed correctly. If you call this post office just ask to speak with her. She has a great attitude and will do what it takes to get your package.
Finally had to file a fraud complaint. Been waiting for a package all day for it to be found discarded in the street. This is the third time this has happened with this location. At this point, it looks like the carriers are tossing out the packages instead of delivering them.
I had a perfectly fine experience at this branch mailing in my new passport application. I went first thing in the morning within 15 minutes of opening and there wasn't a line. They guy was helpful, handing me a pen and stapler when I asked, and processed my mail efficiently.
I was waiting on a package to arrive it showed as being delivered and signed on Friday 10/21 it didn't come till Sat 10/23 when I pulled up to my house my package contains valuables was left on the side walk meaning the ignorant carrier left my package outside on the ground
I hve a po. Box with priority notification but my mail isnt being sent to it. I hvent had mail in 2 weeks now. Plus there was 1 individual working st 9am. When i go to the southern suburbs theres always people working. I come to the hood so insay and bad service overall
Waited from 9 AM to 9:15 ish without anyone opening the door or acknowledging the line of people waiting outside. After we were let in the building, no one was able to serve me, or anyone until I left at 9:25 AM. Their excuse was that they couldn’t get the safe opened.
Had a package held; reached out to have it redelivered. Took several times to actually get through but once I connected, the woman was very polite, friendly and helpful! She promised to have my package redelivered that evening and, true to her word, it showed up!
Honestly, worst post office ever. Consistently have packages not delivered saying that I requested pick-up (not the case.) Try to call, and they hang up on me. Always have mail coming in late or being misplaced. People wonder why the USPS is going bankrupt.
I somewhat agree with most of the BAD reviews, BUT I recall having about 9 pkgs, yes 9 held by my request they stated I contacted a supervisor, manager and gave all my trackings numbers to her, won't HE do it, problem solved immediately, at least that time
I advise no one no one every get a package sent here there lost my girlfriend package took 2 weeks. now lost my package my shoes never re delivered the package never rang the bell like noted never came I call wed to get it re delivered they
I went to this post office yesterday, and the experience I had there was horrible. I understand lines get long inside the post office, but there was only one person working while there could've been three other lines available, but no one
It's the worse! I came to receive my package that they " mailed to me and I missed the delivery" it was open and missing items. I talked to the supervisor and she could care less. She gave me the choice of accepting the package or leaving
This is the worst post office I've ever been to. I cry every time I see one of my amazon deliveries was transferred to the USPS because I know it'll end up here and it won't be delivered. The delivery people sneak like cats up the stairs,
I really want to know why my Amazon packages keep somehow getting lost? I’m setting here literally at the window waiting on another package. I track the package and the carrier scanned the item 20 mins ago saying an attempt was made. I’m
Today I was in line and no one was at the windows. I do understand employees need to take breaks but everyone should be on a rotation. 15 people in line and no one being serviced. They need to do better to communicate with customers. I
I arrived at this post office at opening to retrieve mail that was being held (although I never requested this service). I, along with 4 others that had the idea to come early, waited outside until they finally opened almost 10 minutes
I can not stand going here. The line is extremely long from open to close. There's always 1 attendant tending to customers, yet several others sitting in plain view doing nothing. They're always out of supplies. How is the post office
I went in to this location on a Saturday at 2pm. The line was never longer than 3 people deep, as I observed as I prepared my package. They close sharply at 2:30pm, so get yourself through the door before then. Shipping supplies were
