I had the old faucet on my water main replaced. The plumber came 2 days before to check what had to be done.... I had explained what had to be done over the phone.... He spent 5 minutes in the house and said it was an easy task. In came back for the appointment, installed the valve and left 52 minutes after. The soldering did not look like a professional job (see attached photos) The good thing that there was not any leak. Then I got the bill by e-mail. I could not believe it: The charge was 2 1/2 hours of work and the parts for close to $400 00. I called the company and was told that the plumber was in my house for 2h30. When I complained that it was only 52 minutes I was told the charge will then be only for 1 1/2 hour. I asked were the extra 1/2 hour came from I was told that was for the pre- appointment visit. I replied that the pre-appointment visit was not necessary as I had told everything in details when I booked the appointment. Then I was told that there was a minimum charge for any appointment with the company. The icing on the cake was a charge of $25 for truck... So I was not impressed at all by this and would not recommend Universal Mechanical to anybody.

I called several plumbing outfits in Kingston as I needed a toilet installed ASAP at my brothers apartment.The apartment below was complaining of some water coming from his bathroom into there ceiling fan. Universal was able to fit him in the same day assess the issue and came back to install the new toilet the same day. The others I called said maybe next week! Ben in the office was very nice and reassuring. The service person was kind and reassuring as well. He called me in Ottawa to go over his findings and get the go ahead to fix or install. Thanks you so much !

I had a leaky pipe and needed it repaired quickly. I called multiple plumbing companies and was told that they couldn’t fit me in today. In all fairness, it was 1 in the afternoon, so I understood. Universal was the only place that offered to send a plumber out to apply a temporary patch until they could do the full job next morning. Zack and Riley showed up on time and finished the job promptly. Great company to work with and as we begin to attack our 40 year old house, this will definitely be a company I lean on.

Great service and prices. They were able to send out a plumber, Dylan, on short notice and he did a great job. I had two jobs for them. I had previously called another plumber that charges by the job. They showed up and off the top of their head quoted me two high prices. Classic holdup problem. Don’t go with companies that charge by the job. Universal did both jobs for less than one of the jobs the other company had quoted me. Highly recommend.

Don’t call anyone else! The owner personally came to troubleshoot my 17 year old boiler. I would have been ready to replace it but he said it was in great shape and told me how I could fix it myself if I wanted to save a few bucks. Then he followed up to ensure things were ok and refused my offer to pay for his time. Honesty, integrity, professionalism...I’m so impressed! They’ll always be the first place I call for plumbing & heating needs.

I've used this company's services for years now. They are always professional and timely. I've mainly used them for plumbing, although I've also called them for other issues such as clogged vents and broken furnace. They are fast and their work is fantastic. They've also referred me to very good people when I need help with an issue that they don't deal with, so I just call them whenever something breaks.

I called the 24hr line twice. Yes! Not only do they answer or call back right away they offer coping strategies and walk me through the easy fix of my problem to see if I can get things working. My first call was about my well pump which wasn't an easy fix but they came the next morning. The second call I made was about the broken baffle in my septic. The suggestions helped my husband fix it.

24/7 service means just that to Universal Mechanical. Twice for different reasons I've had to call on a week-end, "no problem, we can fix it" and they take over the problem as if they own it. Great results, try them out when you are in need of a professional.

Chris is very Unprofessional and don't take blame for other things he damaged in trying to fix what he was there to do what a joke. Never recommend this company again. Chris would be last guy I would ever recommend to even ppl I don't like. Thanks

Had Universal Mechanical come and replace the main water shut off valve in my house. The tech had the job done in fifteen minutes and was very personable. The office staff was polite and easy to deal with. Would highly recommend.
