The last time we spoke, I called your store and you put me on hold for over 30 minutes while I waited for you to give the sales person standing in front of you an order while you talked about your recent vacation. When the salesman left your store I could hear you walking around whistling to yourself in an empty store so I sent you a text to your cell phone while I waited on hold to remind you that I was still waiting on hold for over 30 minutes. You walked over the counter and hung up the phone in my face without saying a word. Sir, It must be slow in your store for the holiday season if you have time to respond to Google reviews from several months ago. Maybe people are choosing to shop somewhere else? I chose to still do business with you after you ordered a mixed 6pk and returned 1 bottle upon delivery. It turns out that this was not a wise decision. After reading your other reviews it appears that other people share the same opinion. Total nut job.

I just called and asked if they had any Blanton’s Bourbon in stock. The guy who answered the phone says, and I quote, “Nope, good luck, goodbye!! and hung up!!” How did he know I wasn’t going to inquire about another Item. Especially since I drink many different Bourbon’s? I wouldn’t give them any of my money after how rude he was on the phone. In fact I just called back to get his name, Buck. If you have to talk to him, Don’t. His explanation was he gets 5 to 6 calls a week for Blanton’s and it’s frustrating because he doesn’t carry it. What has Customer service come to?? I will say, he did apologize, but too late in my opinion.

Me and all my “of age” friends were super indecisive on what to drink. First off, first time into the store (we are from Dallas) enjoying the weekend in Austin. Second walked in did not get greeted by the guy working at the desk. Like I said we didn’t know what to get, after a few customers. Very angrily the guy shouted alright guys. Can’t hang out here all day just pick something and get out of here. We were intending to buy a few bottles for the night. Instead we felt rushed out of the store, with one bottle. Terrible employee, would not let him represent my business.

Between the Austin Wine Merchant and Urban Wine & Liquor, you need not shop anywhere else for specialty liquor, hard to find liqueurs and of course Carpano Antica! The owner / manager / cashier who is usually at Urban Wine is very knowledgeable and friendly, and I've received some great advice and recommendations each time I come in. I wish this location had a little better parking situation, but I suppose its catering to the downtown dwellers anyway. I usually stop in after picking up coffee at Caffe Medici which is right next door.

This place is stocked with an amazing variety of high quality options - whoever does the buying for this place really knows what they're doing! I have stopped in this establishment several times since I work in Austin from time to time, and there is always something interesting. Great selection of local and Texas products in addition to all the regular items you'd expect. Staff has been super helpful with selections, and has turned me on to some excellent sparkling rose wines which are now a favorite of mine!

Far and away the nicest liquor store in all of Austin!! Serving customers with the finest of taste, Urban Wine + Liquor is a liquor store that carries nice things. You'll want to swing by next time your downtown! Dine at the food trucks next door, Coopers BBQ across the street -- and come inside and pick out something for your evening occasion.

This place should probably just shut down. I have not had the customer service issues that others have mentioned on here. In fact they’ve been pretty friendly to me over the years. I just find the selection to be very limited and unfortunately a lot of downtown liquor stores have the same basic “bar stock” of liquors and nothing more.

Really cool spot with a ton of selections packed into a not so big store. I was too rude to ask the owner or managers name but he was a real character. We've stopped into 2 liquor stores so far on this trip (not that we are on a booze tour) and Urban by far had the better selection and handcrafted service!

Living downtown this place is really convenient for a quick stop. Owner is really friendly and very knowledgable about wine. He can help you pick out just about anything if you know what you like. Some of the prices seem a little higher, to be expected, but many things are still on point with other shops.

Urban Wine + Liquor is an artisan liquor store in downtown Austin. Walking through the door, everyone is greeted with a smile and enthusiasm to find a favorite liquor or discover a new one. Grab a bottle of bubbly, and continue the evening of Ultimate Romance! TIP: Open Monday-Saturday from 10am-9pm.

wine selection is just ok, and there are some that are just run of the mill grocery wines, nothing blew me away. the liquor is massively overpriced, i expect to pay a small markup as this is downtown, but with a bottle of bullet at almost twice what total wine sells it for i'm not willing to pay.

We should have paid attention to the reviews about the proprietor of this place being rude and inconsistent with operating times. We just walked for 15 minutes in 36 degree weather on New Years Eve to buy wine and liquor before they closed. And found this on the door.

Don’t believe everything you read. A few disgruntled customers can pollute the entire pool. Buck was friendly, charming, extremely knowledgeable, was playing the Dead, and is a fellow Tulane alum. Small world. Wholeheartedly recommend this store!

  • Abe G.

Buckley is psychotic. Nearly everyone that comes in contact with him says the same. Nasty service, inconsistent hours, mediocre selection and extremely overpriced…even for downtown. A toxic guy who has serious issues. Would not recommend.

  • Monica Valdez

There are better places to shop in Austin Tried to give them another shot. Whoever was managing the place was being rude and treating the delivery guys completely disrespectfully. I won’t shop somewhere where that is tolerated.

  • Harri Salomaa

Decent selection. Weird customer service. Beware of akward moment if trying to talk to sales rep. Maybe next time better. Just go in and buy what you want and don't say a word. The guy seems to prejudge customers or something.

  • Christopher Wiley

The drinks and the staff were amazing; one of a kind drinks prepared right in front of you by staff who always smile. Go during happy hour and you're all but guaranteed an excellent experience that won't break the bank.

Outstanding pinot selection , dynamite tasting session going on when I visited , the proprietor, Buckley made me feel warm and welcomed, i rec this spot to any out of towners located in the downtown area !!

  • Katie Hatch

Absolutely fabulous find! Incredible selection of wine and liquors - with the wine meticulously organized and exceptionally priced. Owner is beyond helpful, knowledgeable and very approachable.

  • Vladislav Jasper

It’s 6:46. Paid to park in the parking lot, had a sign that said “will be back in 5 min” it’s been 30. I have an event in 45 so thank you guys for lying about your availability!

  • edward torres

The store was fully stocked, clean and the service was great. The short guy working when I went was very knowledgeable and respectful. I will recommend this store to everyone!

  • Will Angel

Great shop downtown. I had a wonderful experience with the owner. He was happy to talk whiskey and even gave me some great insider info on tastings nearby. This is the spot.

  • Lindsay Lambert

Selection is fine but customer service is no one’s goal here. If you want to pick out your own stuff, not ask questions or have anyone help you - this is your place.

  • James Cotter

This person is a total stranger to me but gave me the greatest service I’ve ever had the best prices and exquisite bottle of Italian red wine

  • Joyce Carter

"Great Collection of drinks!" Really Cool Spot !!! This place is stocked with a variety of Imaginative flavors

  • Stuart Holt

What a rude person. Saw a delivery driver being cursed out. Owner was also being rude to someone on the phone.

  • brocks jim

Great collection of drinks. Local selections were there and the price was not too bad as would have expected

  • Germaine Wyld

Very good customer service and argentinian wine recommendations from the gentleman working there

  • Jeff Harlan

Very nice, upscale wine & spirits merchant that has products that are new and hard to find.

  • Dunno Maname

Overpriced. Plus the older guy working last Tuesday (think he’s the manager) is ultra rude.

  • James Barnett

Super friendly, great suggestions, reasonable prices given the location and selection.

  • Scott Englehardt

Buck was amazingly helpful! Prices were very reasonable. We highly recommend them!

  • Liz F

The sales associate was very helpful but this store doesn't have a huge selection.
