There are so many floors! The kids' area is fantastic! There is a thriving collection of multilingual books for kids. The librarians are friendly and helpful. They have board games for all ages!! When I visited there was a library scavenger hunt happening. The kids were loving it! There is printing available for library card holders when you use coins in the machines or a printing card. This is a very convenient way to use loose change. The printers are quite slow, though, and it is fairly expensive in the scheme of paid printing (maybe just compared with Australian prices).

architecture wise it’s kinda depressing.. with industrial vibes and very conventional layout. maybe the overcast weather was an influencing factor. but if aesthetics is what you’re looking for, don’t have your hopes up. but functionality wise, it seems that visitors / residents here are enjoying it. there is a good variety of services available and you can tell that the institution makes an effort. the root top is good for some fresh air, but again i wouldn’t say the view is mind blowing.

Excellent library, great design, amazing atrium for events, nice bookstore, plenty to explore; social services and workforce information, special collections, books, magazines, and videos. Great study and reading spaces, the top floor has an amazing view of the city. Outdoor roof green space is an ideal park for visitors, views of the city, or to relax and read free books. Check out the new innovation center with digital media software and recording studio’s.

It's not just a library, it's a place to grab a coffee, read, meet people, see spectacular rooftop views, and, of course, read/borrow books. The layout was easy to navigate and the floors felt open and bright. The rooftop patio provided unique views of downtown and the children's library in the Lower Level was amazing; clearly marked sections with so much variety. Glad we stopped in on our trip to Vancouver.

A little barren for all the room in the coliseum it’s got. I’m imagining stalls and souvenir shops lining the interior, similar to what you’d see in a tourist square in Italy. Then there’s the entrance to the library in that outdoor hallway of the coliseum. Inside the library are multiple floors of books. I’m not an avid book reader, but I was easily able to find something I was interested in.

Unassumingly beautiful architechture hides a massive public library, with 8 floors of spacious area filled with books and study nooks. There are areas for studying, surfing the internet, or even just chilling/resting. Going inside VPL is inspiring - it makes me want to study again. Bonus to this amazing library are two coffee shops, and a rooftop (9F) with amazing view.

Super cool architectural public library with a beautiful roof terrace / garden that’s free to access & enjoy. It offers beautiful views over the city from the rooftop and access from the ground level is by lift, or by taking the escalators all the way up. There’s also free public Wi-Fi too. It’s a great place to sit and enjoy a coffee or sandwich from a nearby cafe.

lovely experience. read the current day’s wall st journal and this week’s economist on the 7th floor. very busy but plenty of space for everyone. staff exceptionally helpful. architecture is great; the atrium/natural light seating w close by the open air stone wall is a very nice addition. vendors within the entrance area. great for residents and visitors alike.

Amazing library with a unique architecture and a huge selection of books. Located at the heart of downtown Vancouver with easy access to public transportation (10 mins walk to Granville and Stadium-Chinatown expo lines). The rooftop patio is a great place to read and relax in summer. The lineup for popular books can get very long though.

An amazing facility in terms of both form and function. With its grand curved walls, the building is very unique in its form and is one of the landmarks in downtown Vancouver. The building design also creates very inviting and pleasant spaces starting from the entrance, reading halls, to the pleasant roof patio.

Doesn’t have enough men’s washrooms. It is very annoying. Most of the time I had to travel multiple floors to find an available toilet. And many people often get annoyed or angry from my observation as a frequent visitor. I always hear people complaining! You guys really need to fix this.

we went here for some photo op saw this 'hidden gem' online and definitely a good place to take some pictures! we went here weekday morning, so less crowd and of course be mindful of people who really went to the library to read/study …

Very nice place. Many computers with internet access and very organized. If you want an outlet to charge your phone you also can find it, they are built in every reading table. Beautiful architecture inside and out. It reminds me the coliseum.

It's a beautiful place to visit. The library is designed to be productive and creative. Level 8 and 9 are the eye of the library. But there is a significant amount of in need population (homeless) which might cause inconvenience or assault.

An enormous library, the perfect place for reading, working on your laptop or simply hanging out. Besides you can find a lot of content for any topic and interest. I have been there sometimes, and I can say that I love to be in this place.

It’s a must place to visit. The library contains all the varieties of books, magazines. Good amount of immigrants help articles are posted in the notice board. It’s a fun and happening place. It’s interesting to play a Mega chess board.

Friendly, helpful staff. A multitude of areas for quiet or semi quiet study and reading. Meeting rooms for those who need to meet and a lovely 2 storey rooftop terrace with beautiful views of the city. Easy registration process.

The location is fantastic for studying, yet there's an issue with drug sales in the 8th-floor restroom. Additionally, there's been an uptick in incidents where individuals attempt to steal laptops when you briefly step away.

  • Johanie Martin Lafond

huge library with peaceful atmosphere. Interesting events are also hosted here fairly regularly. I love the fact that you can rent not only books but musical instruments, games, movies, you name it.

  • Jennifer Linh Nguyen

Spacious, modern, and highly maintained library. Massive storage of books and resources to discover. It also has a lovely garden on the rooftop which makes my study time here much enjoyable.

  • Nisarg Vadgama

One of the best libraries I have visited. Shaped like a coliseum and consisting of 9 floors, it houses a huge collection of books. The rooftop garden was like cherry on the top.

  • ryan omeasoo
