"I was very interested in the store"
"Nice looking bookstore, but the customer service was lacking"
"The best bookstore in Atlanta, hands down"
"This place is absolutely beautiful, however, based on my treatment by the employees I won’t be returning"
"Big and spacious but immediately pretentious"
I was very interested in the store. It looked really cool in the pictures. When I walked in no one acknowledged me at all. Nothing. When the next person walked in somehow they got to be acknowledged. When I asked a question about the book prices. They answered but then proceeded to loudly whisper about how I started screaming? I guess my question was too loud?? Either way I thought the workers were rude. Dismissive and I wouldn’t recommend shopping here. I don’t want to make any accusations. But I am a young black female and maybe that had something to do with it. Either way if I could give it less than 1 star I would.
Nice looking bookstore, but the customer service was lacking. When my friend and I walked in, there were 2 or 3 employees standing behind the register desk, and we were not acknowledged by any of them. The store was not very busy, so they had to have seen us walk in. They were engrossed in their conversation for much of our time in the store. I thought that this may have been a simple mistake, until I came to Google and saw a review from another Black woman saying that she too was ignored by the staff here. Safe to say I will not be returning.
The best bookstore in Atlanta, hands down. Their curation is perfect, and if you don’t see a title you’re looking for they’re quick to order and communicate with incredible hospitality. The space is vast with two floors to explore and obviously run by passionate people. They also do an excellent job of curating gifts and other accessories. Their candle selection is minimal but perfect. The staff recommendations are excellent and everyone on the team I’ve met so far has been wonderful to interact with. An absolute treat of a stop.
This place is absolutely beautiful, however, based on my treatment by the employees I won’t be returning. My friend and I, both black girls, were never acknowledged by the employees until we decided to buy something. But they acknowledged everyone else in the store. Even when I walked up to the counter to examine the display, the continue on with their conversation and turned their bodies away from me as if I was interrupting them.
Big and spacious but immediately pretentious. From their selection to store policies it's sadly a place that represents the very gentrification continuing to encroach on the area. I'm sure many will exclaim how excited they are to have a bookstore in the area not realizing there are plenty of historic bookshops in the within a short distance.
For lovers of books and anyone who laments the disappearance of places to buy them not named after South American rivers, this place is a sight for sore eyes. Beyond excited to see such a beautifully done bookstore open up in the heart of the Highland. We will be back often for the outstandingly curated stock, fun staff, and great atmosphere.
I have nothing bad to say about this amazing book store that is among my all-time favorites, and certainly is my favorite in Atlanta. I will miss it dearly when I move away. You should definitely check their bookclub out. It's worth going to because the moderator provides such thoughtful and insightful analysis into the books.
We returned to Atlanta in 2021 and just stopped by here. It used to be an outdoor clothing location when we were last here about 4-5 years ago. The new owners have done an excellent job of creating a welcoming space that is not too cluttered. We met such nice people with kids. The staff is young but very helpful and polite.
The store is pretty big and it’s cute. It has an upstairs and a downstairs. They have a big selection and the store is organized very well. They have a lot of the “new and popular” books here. They don’t seem like they do a lot of sales which is something they should consider. I would recommend stopping by though!
Always great. These people are very kind and have a wonderful selection of books, and will easily order a book for you if they don't have it right now. The only thing I wish they had is a rack with second hand books - thereby keeping books in circulation and allowing them a second life.
We are so excited the bookstore replaced the vacancy. This used to be a clothing shop, but it did not last due to the pandemic. However, the bookstore is already thriving in a short amount of time. The layout is open and the staff are friendly. Tip: They offer 10% teacher’s discount!
I am so thrilled to have this bookstore in the neighborhood. It is well stocked and inviting. I could have spent the day there. The staff was helpful and friendly. Great kids section and there is a comfy area to sit while you browse. Such a wonderful addition to the area.
Smells like the most amazing bookstore when you walk in, organized nicely, so relaxing inside. Great selection and best of all supporting a small business is the best thing to do. Couldn’t leave empty handed and even got one of their cute tote bags to carry my finds.
Went here today as it's literally the only real bookstore in our area. What a gem, gorgeous space, two floors. Books for everyone and a great place to bring your kids. Will be reaching out to the owner about hosting my bookclub here to support our local business.
It's so nice to have a large bookstore again in the midtown area! Great selections, really well curated and the kiddie book area is really special! I would love to see them add a fantastic magazine section with all of the top international mags! Outstanding!
Without a doubt, this is the best bookstore in Atlanta. If you crave the “feel” of a pre-Amazon bookstore, this is the place to go. They have the books you want plus some that you didn’t know you needed until you saw them on the shelf.
I've visited this location a few times and I've always had the same experience. Terrible customer service. I have more pleasant interactions with people taking orders at the drive thru than the people apparently trying to sell books?
Virginia Highland books is a delight! We stopped in on the final leg of a family trip and were impressed! Every part of this store is intentional and curated. From the decor to the book selection, you can tell book lovers work here!
Love this book store! Can usually find parking in the neighborhood and enjoy a nice short walk over. Fabulous vibe and beautifully displayed, I love this bookstore. Great selection and lots of recommendations. Fun to explore!
Awesome little bookstore. Staff are helpful and knowledgeable, they've got a great selection of scifi and fantasy books, and the shop itself is walking distance to so many other neat places in Virginia Highlands.
Believed to be made extinct by the big box stores and internet, this is a welcomed return of the neighborhood bookstore. More than just a place to buy, it’s a place to browse. Friendly. Casual, comfortable.
My favorite bookstore, hands down! Such a huge selection, plus they can order for you if they don't have something in stock. They put so much care into their displays and recommendations too.
Whoa! There's a bookstore here! Two-ish levels of literary wonder. The store is very nice. The notes from the workers suggesting their favorite books isn't novel but, man, do I like it.
Independent bookstore with good selection, knowledgeable staff and pleasant atmosphere. They also run a book club, I have not participated but it seems like a lot of fun.
My kids love this bookstore. Friendly accommodating staff with an array of ever changing books. Comfortable seating area to read and and take in this throwback atmosphere
Great bookshop that has plenty of choice and space to sit down for adults and kids. Enjoyed the art collection on the wall too on the stairs. Will definitely be back!
Great local bookstore! They have a local book section and several local books interspersed on the shelves. Picked up a book that has become my new favorite author!
Blown away by the vibe and inventory of this new book store near the Virgina + Highland intersection. Great kids area in the back of the first floor.
I love having a local neighborhood bookstore within walking distance, and the staff have always been great with recommendations for gifts and such!
I love this bookstore! Everyone is so nice and helpful! They will happily order books for you! Great selection and cozy atmosphere!
Such an incredible bookstore. Their selection was top notch and the staff was wonderful. Such a gem in a wonderful area.
Awesome bookstore! Great selections and the staff was super helpful and knowledgeable about potential recommendations.
Absolute top-notch book store experience! Great selections and reading spots spread across two floors of fun!
Love this bookstore! Great selection for both kids and adults and staff are super friendly and helpful.
So glad to have a bookstore in the neighborhood- nice ambiance, good selection, and knowledgeable staff
This place was really nice. The employees clearly love books and had a lot of input for good picks.
Cozy and spacious. Has a good selection of books. A nice place to sit down and take a slow read.
Best bookstore in the Atlanta area. Always a treat to wander the shelves and find a new story.
This place is awesome! I love a good independent bookstore and vahi books certainly qualifies
Utterly adorable. So glad they're in the neighborhood. Brought the kids. They loved it, too.
Clean, organized, and everybody is very friendly. My wife and I love buying our books here.
Beautiful bookstore in a nice location. Wish we could get something like this in Gwinnett.
Staff was awesome, books were nicely arranged and easy to find. I love an indie bookstore.
Lovely book store! Fiction & children’s books upstairs, non-fiction & more downstairs
Great selections and very helpful staff
Nice and cute little local bookstore!
Small but beautiful book shop
