I've been going to W Dental for about 3.5 years and every single time I go it is probably the most painful hour and a half procedure I have to endure every 3 months. (3 months is what the recommend for me which I have never had before! Usually I would go every 6 months for my previous dentist but they said that my medication requires for me to go 4 times a year? Not sure how that works...) I have never had such pain during a cleaning! I had one great experience with a hygienist (Very gentle but my teeth felt just as clean!) which really helped me bring up the courage to go to the next appointment but when my next appointment came it turned out she had quit and started working for a new clinic! And that next appointment was just as painful as all of the other ones I have had...My teeth do feel clean but my mouth aches for the next few days. It is clear when I arrive I am not looking forward to it and I am tearing up in the chair due to how painful it is and they do recommend numbing gel but why would a cleaning require that? When I had my first appointment there I was very anxious and I had not been to a dentist for a few years for my fear of dentists. They then did an x-ray and said I had 2 cavities. I was prepared for 2! My fillings appointment comes around and then they proceed to tell me they have to work on 4 cavities this appointment and I have to come back for another 2 fillings. I was really upset about this and felt like I was being fooled. I was really not impressed and just made me more fearful of the dentist. When the fillings were done my molars were sharp and not the same shape at all. When I told them about how sharp my tooth was left they shaved it down and proceeded to charge me on something that they did! I was really upset. The dentists and hygienists are friendly but I find that they are too rough! If you can handle the pain then go for it but personally I was not happy with my cleanings and how many times I had to go in a year....As for my fear of meeting new dentists I have finally made the decision to move on to somewhere else...I hope not all dental clinics in Gastown are like this!

I have been a loyal patient of WDental for over 6 years. I have even referred friends and family. I spent thousands of dollars on an Invisalign package that was executed by Dr. Kahn approximately 5 years ago. Everything went smoothly and I was very happy with my teeth. I was given an option to have a permanent retainer or a removable retainer. I opted for the permanent retainer for convenience. After a few years, one of my front teeth started to shift to the point where it returned to its original position and very visible in photos. I went back to Dr. Kahns office and he examined my teeth and agreed that it shouldn't have shifted with my permanent retainers that were still intact in place and told me that he would look through my file and see where things went wrong and he would follow up with me. After that visit, I never heard from him or his office again. I tried countless times to follow up and have my situation rectified over the course of a year and I was dodged and given the run-around. They dodged me enough times that I finally gave up, to his satisfaction as I'm certain that was the plan. Dr. Kahn is very friendly and personable when he wants your money and they are relentless when it comes to scheduling your check ups, however, when it comes to having any issues or mistakes they have made and rectifying them, good luck, you're on your own. I am a professional that lives and works in the immediate area and they have lost my business and respect and the friends and family that I have referred and I hope that if you are reading this review and trying to find a new dental clinic you will think twice before you choose this one. Dr. Kahn has since sold his O2 Dental clinic in Coal Harbour to a lovely couple who have very graciously offered their services at a discounted rate as I prepare for my second invisalign treatment in order to keep my business. That is what I define as customer service.

The worst experience in Vancouver. I came with one particular issue. Had a full exam. But wasn't told any details. When returned to fix my initial issue the dentist started working on a different tooth without even talking to me "because it is conveniently right next to the problematic tooth". All the work seemed clumsy. And it was not just suspicion. At some point he drilled into my leap. And said nothing hoping I didn't feel it due to painkillers. But I did. He didn't even say sorry or anything. Just left right after finishing. At the desk they told me that I have a big issue with another tooth and they requested an approval with insurance and I should come when it is approved. When I asked what is the issue and why the procedure receptionist told me I need a crown that costs 1300! No bills or anything provided until I asked about it. In two short visits they happened to burn through 1100 of my insurance. I was so disappointed with the service. Left with large bill, not so well fixed tooth and cut lip. Never coming back.

Unfortunately my experiences at W Dental left me feeling a bit uneasy with their practice. It's been over 2 years since my last visit, but I felt compelled to share my observations: - I noticed after my last cleaning appointment that the units of scaling I was billed for exceeded the total duration of my time in the chair. Not to mention the time it took for fluoride, flossing, doc exam, etc. Could have been an honest mistake, could have been something a bit more nefarious, but either way their billing always felt a bit "aggressive". - I was told that I needed several fillings for "micro cavities". I ended up moving around this time and changed dentists. Two years have passed, I've received new sets of x-rays and exams from multiple dentists and none of them have suggested any fillings or mentioned anything about micro cavities. These two experiences really stuck with me and I would not personally recommend W Dental.

Roxana the hygienist here alone is worth switching dentists for. I have been criminally negligent in terms of flossing, so my gums are very sensitive. Unfortunately, this caused a bit of a catch 22 for me as it also discouraged me from having them cleaned professionally on a regular basis. I explained my concerns to Roxana and she took special care of me. She was very gentle when cleaning and is the first dental hygienist to offer numbing gels during the cleaning session (it has been a revelation, where was this all my life?) . I have never had a better, more painless teeth cleaning experience! The front office staff is great too, very friendly and courteous. Even took the time to explain how my insurance coverage worked in detail without me asking, instead of just handing me the invoice. Highly recommend this office based on my experience so far.

I would give 0 stars if I could. Never had any issue with an appointment, this review is because every time before my appointments I ask for a quotation on how much the procedure is going to be, and then accept it. However 3 weeks after my last appointment they contact me saying they made a mistake and the procedure was more than what quoted and I owe them money. I’ve replied to emails explaining what I won’t pay more because I accepted a price beforehand, but they never address these emails and just re-send the one saying I owe. Last email they sent, they notified that the debt would be handled by a third party and that my credit score would be affected. Don’t go in there, you never know if they will call you saying you owe.

The best dentist………in the world. Seriously, if you’re looking for a dentist, Ivan at W Dental is the best. Now I’m going to be honest with you here, and you might find this shocking but I hate going to the dentist. Shhhhhh don’t tell anyone, it’s the worst, but I can’t say enough good things about this office. I’ve had both cleanings and fillings done and each time I’ve come away thinking just how easy that was. So if you’re like me and hate going to the dentist, don’t fret, go see W Dental. They will change your dislike in to a rather enjoyable experience. Well enjoyable as it can get. We’re not talking about going to the beach or something.

Dr. Broaderip did some filling work on my teeth. Then had to redo a filling at no charge, that was fine. Then came in and Dr. Erasmus looked at the fillings and said they all had to be redone at no charge... Ok.. fine.. I come back in, while they are working on my filling, they do two more NEW fillings in my mouth without asking me before hand to consult or any mention of extra work and then I receive a bill.. I feel like I was baited in and then had work done with no prior consent. Already they are making me come in multiple times to redo fillings they've done...

I’m not sure what’s going on with this place. They have really gone down hill. Me and my family have been having pain in our teeth after their dentists (someone new each time cause they keep getting fired) work on our teeth. Constant pain and the head dentist is never around anymore. They make you come in so often so they can claim the max on your insurance plans and then when they run out, charge you for work they do to fix their mistakes. I feel like money is the priority now and not patient well-being or health. I’m so disappointed and hurt.

Three strikes and I am out! 1st: When I signed up a few years back, Dr. Kahn sent me for a "3d circular" x-ray done elsewhere. Then he refused looking at it or discuss it. $300 out of pocket expense good for nothing. 2nd: Hygienist Zonnalie chipped one of my molars. That caused two molars not supporting each other and starting wiggling. 3rd: Zonnalie again chipped my front tooth. They refused admitting their fault and I had no choice but to pay for fixing it. Three strikes and I am out! DO

Broke a tooth and was in horrible pain. Dentist was extremely arrogant and rude to me. Pretty much blew me off and the things he said made me feel horrible. Did an exam, wrote me a RX and that was it. Had a full on panic attack after leaving there. I was in SO much pain for days in bed after this. Still with my broken tooth. Only reason for the 2 stars instead of 1 was the Dental assistant who was so very kind. She should get 5 stars for herself alone. Do not recommend this place at all.

I made an appointment to have a cleaning and check on Dec 31th, but they closed the door on that day without any notice. I just saw a notice on the entrance door that they'll be back January 2nd or something. I was quite surprised and very disappointed. At least you have to let me know before the cancellation of the schedule whether it's an unilateral notice or not! I didn't make any plan because of the appointment. You wasted my time, this is extremely unprofessional.

Dentist assured they could handle wisdom teeth extraction (guess they wanted the insurance $$), 45 mins later with permanent nerve damage to face they realized it was too much for them and referred me to oral surgeon for the other side. Oral surgeon did it in 5 minutes with no side effects. Also tech told me something in my mouth looked like cancer, after seeing an oral surgeon they said it was incidental. Thanks for the weeks of worrying

W Dental has consistently provided outstanding service for the past four years I've been visiting. The entire staff exudes dedication and hard work, ensuring a comfortable and professional dental experience each time. They also take their time to ensure a job well done. Oh, and did I mention they are also very friendly? I couldn't recommend them more.

One of the best dental experiences I've ever had. Had food impacted in my wisdom tooth. Had the same problem with three other dentists who just looked at my tooth and made a referral, which costed about $200. The dentist here actually took the time to lift the gum up and remove all the impacted food and rinse it out for me. Was so relieving.

Called to make an appointment in extreme pain, the person who answered said no problem come in today in a few hours. I think great my problems are over. Then I get there and halfway through the paperwork they tell me nope we won't take your insurance it doesn't pay us enough. And thus I leave still in pain and feeling like I'm not worthy.

By far the worst dental office i have ever dealt with. They constantly reschedule you for their convenience. they charge you for an apt if you cancel less then 24 hours before but will call you the day of your apt to cancel with you. They don't value their customers and anyone thinking of using this office should strongly reconsider.

I have been a patient of Dr Khan for many years for routine dental procedures. He also performed some awesome cosmetic work a few years ago. Most recently, he went above and beyond to see me late Friday PM for an emergency visit prior to me leaving on vacation. Quality and customer service from him and his team is outstanding!!

  • Noah Morse

The dentists and hygienists are friendly but the office manager was so discourteous and impolite that I had to remove my families entire account with this office. There are so many better offices in Vancouver. Her name was Sanna and she's the 'office manager' as she pointed out numerous times. Stay away.

Dr. Laura was absolutely amazing with my son (16 months old), she was so calm and gentle. I was really nervous about it, because what kid like's someone checking out their mouth, but she made it really fun for him with toys, cartoons and a few blow up gloves. I would highly highly recommend Dr. Laura.

I moved to Gastown in March 2022 and wanted to find something more convenient, Staff are amazing, tons of availability for cleaning and quick to help in regards emergency dental work! Facilities are really clean as well!!! Recently had a crown fall out and they were able to accommodate me next day.

  • Jay Lanns

Dr. Kahn and his team were extremely helpful and informative. I've never had a dental team that so carefully explained to me things I could be doing to better maintain my teeth. Needless to say, I was very impressed and will be recommending them to everyone I know!

  • Mackenzie Hoff-Bell

I've never had a dentist experience as good as my recent visit with Dr. Laura. Both her and her team are incredibly attentive and prioritize your comfortability. Bonus points for also having TV's on the ceiling! My hour and half appointment felt like 20 minutes.

  • Michael Herle

Dr Ivan Khan is an amazing man. He is, simply put, the best dentist in the world. Plus, he has a great sense of humour and a real empathetic way with his patients. Too bad he is retiring soon. He really can not be replaced. He is one of a kind.

  • Gurpreet Chandna

Dentist cancels on you hours before your appointment frequently. I switched dentists because of this. Now, I've tried to unsubscribe from their mailing list at least a dozen times and I still get emails....

  • Saleem Barnard

Really good experience. The hygienist was social and a bit sassy, which a nice break in my day. The frontline staff were very careful not to go over my benefits amount, so I appreciated that very much.

  • Delphine Zimmermann
