Ace Hardware has always been our go to store for all of our hardware needs. My fiance and I have regulared at several locations around the valley and pretty much always had nothing but a wonderful experience. Until today when we stopped in at Walt's. It was a beautiful sunny day so we were out on a bike ride, they have zero bicycle racks in front of their store to accommodate cyclist so we went to lock our bikes to a display to the side of the exit door, and were instantly ordered in a very unnecessary manner to lock them up elsewhere, to which we complied in a regrettably respectful fashion. Within the first 30 seconds of being in the store we were approached by a employee who came up in a speed walk and barked "what do you need"? We again cheerfully responded, he showed us where to find what we asked for, and then stood there and stared at us making for a very uncomfortable browsing. The employee proceeded to follow us around the store staying within 5 feet of us at all times, every now and then demanding to know what we were looking for. I've never in my life been made to feel so unwanted in a store, we decided after about 10 minutes of his scowling and barking that we didn't want to spend any of our hard earned money in a store that would treat customers so disrespectful. As we were leaving another employee decided to snap off some smart mouth comments to us, I was fed up so I told him I don't appreciate being tailed and eye balled through the whole store, to which he responded, "oh we're just helpful" sorry but treating customers like criminals from the moment we arrived in front of the store is not "helpful". The rest of the way out the employee named Jayson felt it was necessary to verbally harrass us all the way out the door, while unlocking our bikes Jayson again came outside to try and accuse me of taking a sanding block which was 100% outlandish and ultimately disrespectful. I told him we had nothing from their store and never would because we don't plan on ever coming back to such a ridiculous store, he then made a comment towards me that I didn't hear completely because he muttered it, however my fiance who is battling with stage 3 breast cancer did hear it and demanded him to repeat his comment that apparently involved calling me stupid in some fashion. I don't know where the owner of this store found these employees, or what kind of horrible customer service tactics they encourage them to utilize, but they really need to second think a lot of what they find acceptable. This was by far the most insulting and flat out rude shopping experience we have EVER encountered at any store anywhere! How dare you judge people based upon what you think you know by looking at someone. Was it because we were on bicycles? Because I don't see how 2 people showing up on bikes that together cost more than any of those deplorable employees make in a pay period sends the message that we need to be followed and harassed and insulted. Or did they pass judgement based on the fact that my fiance has no hair because of the chemotherapy treatment she endures? No matter what the reason is that they decided to be so exceedingly rude, we will never return to Walt's. To the employee Jayson that wanted to act like some kind of tough guy, you sir should be ashamed of yourself, and in our opinion, you should be fired for the deplorable manner in which you treat what would have been very regular paying customers. SMH!!!!!
I have been coming to Walt's Ace Hardware for years. The store is always spotless, and the Employees are always friendly and professional. I live less than 5 minutes away from this store. Walt's Ace Hardware is very convenient for me. Please Understand that I am not writing this epic Review just because it is less than 5 minutes from my home. Even if they were an hour away I would still make the trip to go there. I am writing this review because their "Outstanding Customer Service" needs to be Recognized. The Community needs to know that they have "Walt's Ace Hardware" to be there for them for anything that they need. Will was extremely helpful when I re-painted my house. He was very patient with me and helped me with the exact colors that I wanted. Wess is the coolest manager I have ever met and he treats his employees with respect. To me that is of a great importance within a working environment. If the management is low it shows within the employees. Will and Wess Are extremely knowledgeable of products and are always eager to help you. If you have any questions, or difficulties with any project that you are doing they will help you to achieve your goal. Their Hours of operation are perfect for me, and like I have said they truly are eager to assist you. I have done all of the renovations myself in my home and its thanks to Walt's Ace Hardware. They explained to me step by step on how I could achieve my goals with my Home projects and finish it like a Pro lol. Being a former business owner myself I immediately recognized true Customer Service on a Monumental level within Walt's Ace Hardware. If you have any DIY home projects on your list or a purchase of the occasional Weed eater twine, go Here! I promise you that it will be worth it. The "work culture" at Walt's Ace Hardware truly resonates with, tradition, values, and a vision to help the community.
DISHONEST, RUDE EMPLOYEES. DO NOT SHOP HERE!!! Last weekend I found myself in need of a new key for my drill chuck. I went to Walt's and gave the employee the model of my drill, but he was unsure which key would be the right one. I asked if I could just buy the one that seemed most likely, and return it if it did not fit, and he said that would be fine. The key did not fit, so I returned the following day, but much to my surprise the girl at the register refused to complete the return. I explained to her what had previously expired, and ask that she find the employee that I had spoken to, however she was adamant about not providing any customer service. I asked to speak to the manager, but she just kept chatting on her headset and saying the manager wouldn't say anything different in person. I cant recall the last time that I saw such disrespectful behavior from a cashier, and what kind of manager hides behind a radio connected to their cashiers ear and refuses to talk face to face with a customer that has a legitimate complaint??? Since moving to the neighborhood a couple of years ago, I have been shopping at least a couple of times per week at this Ace Hardware, but Home Depot is only an additional 10 minute drive from Walt's, and knowing I am not dealing with dishonest, disrespectful people is worth the drive (plus the prices are far better there). Congratulations Walt's Ace Hardware on losing a long time, repeat customer, over a $5 customer service issue.
Wonderful example of great customer service and attention to detail by the staff. I was assisted by 3 different personnel ALL of whom listened to what I said I needed and found exactly what I was looking for in less than 3 minutes each. I'm very pleased with the overall selection of the store's merchandise. The only three things I has an issue with were, first, I had to ask another customer to open the door to let me in (when the automatic door is an exit only door). Second, the isles were a bit cramped/too narrow (Although, one of the staffers did move some of the products out of the way for me to get to what I was looking for without my having to ask. A major plus when you consider this is not the case at most other retailers.). Finally, yet very important to me and those who suffer from chronic migraines and can see the flicker of 60Hz in neon and florescent lights ( a common cause of migraines and with some sufferers can also cause seizures), the industrial florescent lighting is bright enough for the average person to see what they're looking for, but I think it will serve the owner of the the store or the property owner a great deal better in the long run to switch over to LED lighting both inside and outside of the store mostly because of cost effectiveness and better clarity of vision for security monitoring purposes. My overall grade stands at a strong A-. Keep up the great work Walt's Ace Hardware team.
Well if they offered a no star rating that would be my selection. I tried to shop for some hardware for home improvement and after taking a Lyft to the location I was sadly turned away because I had my "tool backpack." Being the environment conscious person I am instead of using a plastic bag to carry my goods I opted to use my backpack. The store associate asked me to leave my backpack outside. Seems kind of ridiculous that they are worried about theft in their store but not the potential theft of my backpack. . I offered to leave my backpack up front with them and they wouldn't hear of it.They told me an associate could grab what I needed but frankly this trip required me to go inside and find the best fit for the repair I was doing. meanwhile I witnessed three gentleman entered the store without their face masks during a world-wide pandemic and in Phoenix, AZ this is a requirement for the health and safety of all Arizonians. Perhaps Ace hardware might want to prioritize the health and safety of the public over the discrimination of backpack wearing patrons which to be honest when wearing said backpack correctly it is nearly impossible to steal just saying. Glad to have wasted my time/money from taking the Lyft to being discriminated against for carrying my backpack.
This review and rating isn't about the store per se, not the location, people, or products. It's about a bad, out-dated non-competitive return policy. I had shopped here for years and then fell victim to the policy and started shopping at the Ace at 7th Street and Missouri. Today I was in the neighborhood and needed a few things. I'm not opposed to Home Depot or even Amazon but prefer shopping locally. I went in, got what I needed - everything is fine - but I saw the archaic return policy on the receipt and remembered why I don't shop here regularly (see the attached pic). There a number of categories not returnable. If you open the product, try it or find it's the wrong item or you don't like the way it works, you are SOL! They also reserve the right to arbitrarily refuse a return. I'm not aware of any other store that does that, their competitors allow returns, and I'm afraid they're sealing their own demise. When that happens, it won't be because customers don't want to shop there but because they've made it harder to shop there than their competitors have. So - this is a BUYERS BEWARE post! As for me, I've been reminded and I'll avoid them again. Nobody wants to hand over their precious $$ and be stuck with a product that doesn't meet their needs!
Are you an Ace hardware customer who is used to the nice friendly neighborhood attitude? Then this store is not for you. The last several times I have been in I have had people unable to help me with questions or unfamiliar with such small things as where the keys to the locked displays are. I also recently got to listen to two employees discussing in detail their plans to get one of the clerks drunk and take advantage of her. Today I dared to enter the store carrying a motorcycle tank bag. I was accosted by one of the clerks who rudely informed me that I had to leave my "backpack" by the unguarded door in an unsecured area. When I opened my mouth to explain, she tapped the sign stating the policy and would not allow me any conversation. I understand that theft is a problem and they have children in the store after school, but a 50-year-old man in hubdreds of dollars of motorcycle leathers should at least have the chance to explain that he was uncomfortable leaving a computer sitting by an open door. I would imagine an alternative could have been found. The combination of rudeness, disinterest, and lack of knowledge has sent me back to the nearby box store. It's a shame!
Was in the store yesterday. Assistant (?) manager Wes asked if I needed assistance soon after I walked in confused as to where to find things. I had 3 items I wad looking forward and Wes took the time to walk me to each location and discuss my best options. I also needed keys cut for an unknown (at the time) lockbox. Home Depot was unable to make the key cuts for me because they had limited styles of keys. Wes said they didn't have an exact match but told me 9 out of 10 times, the "Y" key works. I was hesitant about having 2 keys made if by chance they wouldn't work. Wes assured me that if they don't work, he would refund me and said he would make 2 cuts for me and guarantee them. The "Y" key was bigger than my original key, so there was some concern that the keys wouldn't work. I get home and both keys worked perfectly. I am so grateful to have a manager take over 15 minutes with me to give me one on one time so that all my needs are met. It's easier to find help at these smaller hardware places than in the bigger Home Depots. I really appreciate the customer service I received yesterday. Thanks Wes and Selena!
Every time I walk into this store I am greeted by someone who asks me if I need help. Staff is knowledgeable and helpful. It is sometimes a bit much, being asked by several different people in one trip to the store if I need help as they see me in different parts of the store, but I feel the intent is always from a great place. I had a remarkable experience the other day when I needed a specialty tool for a tap and die kit because I did not have room to use the T-handle that came with it. I was unsure if the $50 tool I saw that looked like it might fit would actually work, so I asked if I could break open the packaging to check. Wes, the Manager, said that the type of packaging would be ruined and it wouldn’t be possible. I understood since the tool would no longer be able to be displayed if I opened it to check due to the manufacturers packaging. Wes then offered to sell me the tool at half price but it would be non-returnable, again because of the damage that would necessarily happen to the packaging. I accepted the offer, and the tool did exactly what I needed it to do. Thank you very much for your help.
Wow. I just got racially profiled and escorted out the door like a hoodlum just cuz an employee cried to supervisor saying was giving attitude. Im sorry but your asked 3 times in row from isle to isle back to back of course there might be a little attitude due to that but no need to have merchandice snatched out my hand and have some nut hard manager with breathe that smells like dogfood act hard like hes a gangbanger. i myself know about manners and said thank you after aked for the 3rd time. Ive been a customer at that store for over 5 yrs and not once had a problem before even on my worste days. Employees have always been helpful. Hell even have a membership card for 10 yrs. Looks like ill be back doing my shopping online instead of dealing with this type shit. If u dont want be racially profiled or have the feeling of being watched and be able to shop comfortible i sugest going to the ace on glendale and 19th but if u do feel like shopping under a watchful eye then shop there...i wont be...ill take my hard earned money somewhere else
Always a pleasure. This is always my first stop when I need something from the hardware store. It's the closest one and I can usually get what I need. Customer service is 100% better than the big box stores. Not everyone in there knows exactly what they're talking about, but I can always find someone with the answer I need. If you're there specifically for hardware, you're in luck. They have a very complete selection of fasteners for whatever the project. I just refurbished an antique rolltop desk and was able to find era appropriate brass wood screws in the correct size! There's a review from someone saying they're uncomfortable being watched in the store. They only do that because they have to. It's unfortunate, but its what they have to do to prevent product loss. I go in frequently and it isn't an issue for me. All in all, it's definitely the best thing in the neighborhood and blows the big box places outta the water!
I've shopped at this location before however infrequently for the past year or so. Seems every time I go in there, an employee confronts me as though I'm shoplifting. Usually I just leave, with no confrontation, since that's not the type of person I am. I don't like public confrontations, and usually just walk away. Well, I'd forgotten this store seems to have it in for me, and tonight went there. As my husband and i were browsing, various deals, coupons, store deals, etc, I overheard a employee who had been following us since we walked in over the radio saying that we were splitting up and needed another employee to follow as he couldnt watch us both at that point i confronted him and asked to speak with the manager when she came out and tried to convince me that they follow every customer I lost it and walked. Im a ordinary shopper. I will be taking my business to the ace true value on Glendale.
It's not the same anymore. Usually go to hardware store versus home Depot or Lowe's because the people are knowledgeable inside the smaller ones. It's not like that anymore you think they would have some knowledge of what's in the store with fewer shelves cuz that's not true anymore. It's kind of like an overstaffed prison with lots of prison guards because none of the associates know where anything is but yet they're always watching you and standing next to you and asking you if they can help you even though they can't you have no time to think about anything and you get rushed through the store with prying eyes from every direction very uncomfortable situation used to be a very knowledgeable staff in there. Now they don't even know the difference between gloss paint and flat paint. Shame that these neighborhood places are just not the same.
In a word, Disgusting. For a Hardware store? I asked a friend to have a key made. He just lost someone to covid-19 and came to visit & grieve. They were busy, the clerk told my friend to leave the key, shop, and it would be ready in a bit. He comes out with $150 of stuff and the key but realized he didn't get the original set of keys back; went back in, all he got was attitude. Went in a 3rd time, no one would help him search, basically ignored him. He reluctantly went in, giving one of the cashiers my name & phone number just in case. Never have I even heard of anyone being treated so and i want to say 'in a hardware store' but no where really. There is no business on the Map for that and I hope Walt helps his employees to get it. The next morning I got a call the night cleaning man found my keys. Tough Times.
If you have a project to undertake this is the place to go. As soon as you step in the door there will be someone to ask for assistance. Once you describe your task to that individual he will take take you through the store to acquire everything you need for your project. He will answer any questions you may have and on the rare occasion he does not know the answer he will find out for you. It makes you feel as if you have a partner in your project who is genuinely invested on your success. It is a markedly different atmosphere that that in the giant warehouse stores. There is a huge variety of items available for purchase and I cannot remember there being something I needed that they did not carry. As long as customer service like this exists brick & mortar stores will never become extinct.
Hello everyone, For most part I have been satisfied with Walt's ace hardware having what I need. My problem is with the disrespect I receive from there employees. They have treated me like I'm a second class citizen repeatedly have a car, two motorcycles, and a bicycle. I decided to ride my bicycle today, and they refused to let me lock it up by the front door. In no way would my bicycle be blocking ingress or egress of there establishment. I was told to not to return to there store because I wouldn't put the bike in the bike rack. Also I have had them follow me around like I was there to steal. I spend money that I work for. These employees are disrespectful to the customers that help provide the money that they are paid with. I will not let them get one more penny of my hard earned cash.
The prices aren't great. They're a bit higher than some other hardware stores, but they still deserve (at least) a 4 star review because of how unbelievably awesome the staff is at this location. They won't let me have that "I'm lost" look on my face for more than 30 seconds before a friendly, capable staff member is right here with me making sure any question I have is answered, and any item I'm looking for is right in front of me. Above and beyond is the description for this location. Every manager in any face to face sales business should check this place out, so they can see how very high the bar has been set by this store. If staff at other stores begin working as well as the staff here, we'll see an uptick in the whole damn national economy!
Nearly thirteen years ago I bought my house a couple miles away from Ace. Dawson worked there with Eddie who is still there. Lovely place. I drive a Harley and come to ace for most everything and carry it within my back pack. And today coming home from work I stopped in to buy an impact drill. And as I take my back pack off to leave with the cashier I was told that I cannot have a back pack in the store. Or even leave it at registers. Which has always been how you guys handle these things. Im not shopping here anymore. Continued Its their delivery on how they tell you. Its nasty and rude. Thought I'd try one last time. For a key. They wouldn't even bring out the key for me like they used to. And wear the mask correctly if your so concerned
I like Ace Hardware. Although like many people I tend to default to the big box hardware stores, that is due more to the constant barrage of commercials and other media advertisements and Ace Hardware ends up at the back of my mind instead of the front. Even though the big box stores would have you believe that bigger is better, this is not exactly true. Once again, this past weekend I found nuts and bolts at Ace Hardware that Lowe's didn't carry. Ironically, a Lowe's associate in the store even suggested Ace Hardware. Kudos to that Lowe's associate for the referral, but a reminder that the big box stores are not the solution to every hardware and home improvement problem.
Yes, you will typically pay more here compared to alternative stores. But there's a reason I use Walt's. They are the closest thing left to what I used to know as the ol' neighborhood hardware store where customer service is the top priority. Yes, the gals in front could be a bit more cheerful (smile?) as noted in another review. But the guys in back are always willing to help and inventory/product is fine. And when they don't have what you need, they aren't afraid to refer you to a competitor. I also like that the old timers seem committed to training younger generations - Instilling in them the importance of hard work and customer service. That gives me hope.
Return policy on paint is bogus. If you have your paint mixed you can not return it . Why?? According to the manager she would have to sell it at a discount, not because the customer wasn't happy with their purchase. And the manager had the nerve to blame me for the sale...yeah my mistake was coming to Walt's Ace Hardware after reading positive reviews on how great the service and experience. I also ponted out the Ace return policy online that if not happy with the paint, return in 30 days...well to her that was new...of course it was...i rather stick to the inpersonal big stores at least there they try to address the customer's satisfaction.
I am 65 years old, walking with a cane wearing a draw string back back where I keep my glasses, keys, phone, and money as I am prone to misplace stuff. Then I got to the store the young told me I had to leave my bag outside. I told her I keep my money in the back. She didn't care. I could come into the store with the bag. I didnt feel comfortable with leaving my bag outside, and I didnt feel comfortable of going back to my car and leave it there. I left and went to Six Points Hardwzre. I spent more there then I planned because of there great customer service..bye the way. Six Points did not ask me to leave my bag outside.
My wife and I went in to buy a swamp cooler. Not one person had the decency to tell us that we weren't able to return or exchange it for any reason. Seems like a pretty shady underhanded business if you ask me. Only reason I went was it is right around the corner from my house. I'm going to spread the word about how we were treated. I'm going to do whatever I can to help people shop elsewhere including offering rides to other more customer oriented places. And with any luck we can have this crooked business shut down and closed for good. I'm definitely going elsewhere and I highly recommend others do the same.
I would rate them 0 stars if it was allowed this store is horrible the employees are very disrespectful, not professional at all I walked in there to return a brand new item before I could even say anything they said we do not accept any returns and did not want to further assist me I've been to the store on several occasions and I don't know why but the women that work here are very disrespectful I will definitely never go here again and I will tell everybody not to come here it's a shame I run a company and I spend a lot of money and because of these employees I don't want to spend a dime at the store.
I recently made a purchase for my daughter. I did not know that the return policy by the firm. At my request the staff member opened the box to clarify some of my concerns. I very much appreciated his assistance. The following day my daughter and I realized that the item would not work. The store manager, Wes, graciously accepted the returned item even though he knew it would cost him time & money to restock. The manager did me a big favor as the item was expensive. It is experiences like this that give me reason to return to his store for all my hardware needs. Thank you Wes for being a good neighbor.
The staff are above grade here. two registers lanes open at all times in the store. Wait times are usually nonexistent to check out. Also they will put another register open if the line gets very long. They really understand your time is important. They have staff that are experienced welders have experience in plumbing just above and beyond. On top of that very short weights. and when they don't have it in stock it's usually less than four business days to get an order in. So items not on the floor can still be purchased. I no longer shop at home Depot or Lowe's. Thank you Walt's Ace hardware.
It never ceases to amaze me just how big a variety of merchandise the store is able to stock and display. I can drive another 15 minutes to a big box, wait in line to enter, walk endlessly down aisle after aisle looking for a widget, and/or assistance, spend more time standing in line to check out, then there's the return trip. TIME! Or, I can go to my local ace. The choice is obvious. The staff is courteous, knowledgeable and in abundance. Time is money and my time is worth something. Going to Walt's saves me time and stress, and that equates to money, and peace of mind. What's not to love?
I've avoided going here for 20 years now. Why?! Because their prices are outrageously high. Need to return an item? Expect trouble Very unlikely you will succeed. The young manager has an ego as big as the building and thinks everyone is out to steal from him. They are my absolute last resort. Here is an example. I found a pair of door hinges at Six Points for $6.00. They weren't quite right, so went up to Walt's. Found the hinges and picked up 2 packages because I needed 3. They were $11.00! But time was of the essence. When I opened the package, it was one single Hinge!!!
if I have to express the way I feel I wouldn’t even give this place one star as I was saying I would say that the guy Wes there is shouldn’t be in the position he is very poor customer service if I wouldn’t known that you cannot return at this place just because I brought the wrong thing I would’ve never gone there so just beware to all the public whoever wants to go there and you decide that it’s the wrong part the guy there wes is very rude and yells at you! I am going to be turning this over to the Better Business Bureau that company should be in that position
They weren't very busy when I was there. I needed a key made. There were 3 employees behind the counter doing things, but not one of them acknowledged me in the 10 minutes I stood there. I was surprised because I have never had a bad experience in an Ace store. I will try a different one in the future. PS I read reviews and hate reading negatives when they are outnumbered by positives because that are often written by people who are hard to please or in a cranky mood. That is not the case here. I rarely give negative reviews. Just sayin'.
Terrible service. Was told they couldn’t laser cut my car key because it was broken from the fob and would be “too much work”. Was referred to the manager who overheard the whole conversation. Manager said I’m on the register, look it up and you decide. They decided not to cut my key. When I walked in, all employees were standing around the register, I was the only customer in the store so it was extremely odd they were unwilling to help me. Go three miles down the road to the other Ace Hardware, they always provide excellent service.
Worst customer service experience I’ve ever had at Ace. Being a small business owner that shops at multiple Ave hardware locations across the Valley this is hands down the worst. Save your money & time and please shop elsewhere. Purchased a $200 dolly for moving that had a manufacture defect and ended up collapsing. Instead of checking with their supplier about a possible warranty refund, the manager did not take the time but instead said all sales are final. Very bad business. Thanks anyway…
They are AMAZING!! My sister and I were just there and every single one of the employees were incredibly friendly, very helpful and to be honest, we would go in just to hang out and say hi if we could! These days it's rare if not impossible to go to a business and encounter employees who are happy with their jobs, therefore excited to help their customers! Diego, Mario, Selena, Zoe, Eddie and Mr. Wes, thank you for your kindness and keep up your AWESOMENESS that you OWN!! Erika and Jennie
This place is usually amazing. I have been going there a very long time and they have almost everything that makes a trip to Home Depot totally unnecessary. Lorraine, Eddie, and the older staff are so knowledgeable. The new youngsters are very green and need better training. Their mistakes and ineptitude lead to unnecessary returns. Please work on training them better. UPDATE: I am pleased to say that the new kids are really coming along! They have worked hard and are improving!!!
Thank you to William for all the help this past week. My water was spewing out so much because the water in the backyard would not turn off. He helped me find the right size water key to turn the water off to the house. William instructed me to take off the actual defective part and bring it back in to the store so that I can purchase the right size and repair it. Today I was able to get everything done and turn my water back on to the house. We are very grateful to you William!
I've shopped here for 8 years and generally have been treated well. As of today I will no longer be shopping here because of there return policy. At least if a person buys an item at Walmart they will exchange it if it falls apart after a couple of uses. My mother is a senior citizen and it was insinuated that she must have stolen a basket that she bought because she lost her receipt. The manager wouldn't work with her at all. My mother ended up throwing the basket away.
Very helpful & knowledgable!!! I came in ten minutes before closing & was there 10 mins after closing. I apologized & both manager & employees were so kind and easy going about it. Unlike H.D. that literally starts to Nag incessantly that they are closing 45 minutes before hand, every 5 minutes before closing. I love going to ACE, it can be pricey, but, sometimes that is totally worth the headache and hassel of the big box store. Which in my line of work, time is money.
Here is a picture of the "Ace Promise". This product broke 2 minutes into my project. I was using it as intended (only way to use it), when I went back to exchange or return it, I was told no. I understand not taking tools back, but this broke. It is DEFECTIVE. I even had Ace corporate call the store to see if they would honor the Ace Promise. The manager Andrew (?) told her "we don't take back tools, it says it on our receipt." Honor the promise, and replace my item!
I live in between two Ace Hardware store and it takes the same amount of time to go to either one. The other one is in a nicer area and shopping center, but I ALWAYS choose Walt's. It's in a more sketchy area, but the store itself is not. Everyone is alway super knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly. The main lady in charge (I don't know her name) appears to run a pretty tight ship. Walt's also has waaaaay more stock on hand and more options and available items.
The staff at this Ace understands the right balance between helping you and leaving you alone. Typically, I know what I’m looking for and what I need, other times I need direction. Sometimes it’s nice to just walk up and down various aisles and look at all the stuff. Many times a resolution to a problem or a repair has come from seeing something you never thought of or didn’t know existed. Also, it’s convenient to get in and out of their parking lot.
My Family & I love coming here looking for new merchandise to purchase. Love looking at everything from seeds for flowers to painting supplies. We actually love looking at everything. Getting new ideas to make improvements and what not. Everyone that works there at ACE is helpful and always attentive. They have ceiling fans, regular fans, extension cords. All types of gadgets for your home. Store is always clean and well stocked.
Ace is a really good stuff really good place to buy stuff especially if you're doing plumbing electrical there people are very very smart and they have everything known to man only thing is they don't sell dogs there but if you're looking for a burrow you might be able to find one hahaha but it's a good place to buy stuff and they have quality stuff it's not cheap like home Depot is they have good quality stuff and tools
Yesterday I witnessed the worst example of a manager (Wes ) the way he treated a customer was inappropriate for any situation. Not only was he screaming at the customer he was taunting him I'm surprised that guy didnt haul off and punch him I know I would of . I won't be going back there and encouraging anyone else also I've never felt so uncomfortable being somewhere where the employee was the bully
Worst place ever with terrible customer service. The receipt I got for my Cooler/AC portable unit said I had 30 days to return if I was unsatisfied…so I did, and apparently they don’t tell you they have an in store policy that this is an item you can’t return. My receipt said different, so just don’t buy from Ace. Terrible service here and in Ahwatukee as well. I deserve my return. Buyers beware.
Friendly staff, good prices. Is a great place for a quick run for gardening, painting, and other projects. While providing modern/up to date options for household repair needs, they also cater to our specific neighborhood, which is older. The houses in our neighborhood have some "outdated" specifics for piping, windows, electric, air and Ace carries most items to repair & match the existing.
If I could give no stars I would. Harass me the whole time I was in the store asking me if I needed help when I already told them what I needed which was rope so I'm sitting there trying to decide which rope I needed and I'm steadily getting harassed. Everybody ain't coming into your store that's black to steal and if you ask me one time if I need help and I told you no don't ask me again
Horrible customer service. Would not let me return a ratchet wrench that the salesman recommended. I returned within a half an hour and purchased a full ratchet set that the same salesman recommended. Not letting me return the original ratchet wrench for a measly $14 is horrible customer service. I've always enjoyed going to Ace Hardware's, but I will not return to this store.
Do NOT buy from this location their payment system Is messed up they cancelled my order and did not issue a refund. The money is staying pending in my bank. I tried to order a second time and they took the money out and the system said the card does not have enough for transaction. But it did and the 2nd order is now pending for over $300. They are holding on to over $650.
A well-stocked store and always the tops in customer service. The team is patient, knowledgeable, and willing to stop whatever they are doing to help a customer, no matter the day of the week. I moved away from the area but still return to do my shopping at Walt’s. I am usually disappointed if I need to go some place closer, but Walt’s crew always comes through for me.
Went to this store yesterday to get a piece of glass….they had to cut it and I get that. Got it home and wrong size. Took it back today and REFUSED to refund me my money. Not like I am the only person that is going to need that size. Staff was NOT helpful and manager Wes was apparently TOO busy to talk to me. I will continue to shop at Home Depot or even Lowe’s!!!
Love Ace Hardware for their easy in and out, their knowledgeable and available staff, and their excellent selection of everyday needs. They don't carry major appliances like the big box stores, but if you ever need a widget to go on to the end of the whatsit under the bathroom sink, Ace employees will be able to find it for you and even explain how to install it!
After getting No assistance from another location I was at this morning I drove a few miles to this store. When walking into the store I was asked by 3 different associates if I needed help. Then was asked by another associate if he could load my soil into the cart. I will be driving the extra distance to this store even tho it’s out of the way.
The staff are very helpful, especially if you need help on a project. It is a little more expensive than Home Depot and they sometimes dont have what i need in stock but they can get anything within a day or two. I prefer to go to the small neighborhood stores and pay a little more as opposed to going to home depot or lowes.
Big fan of independently owned Aces. Great selection of home repair, maintenance and remodel supplies. Every tool under the sun. Also, great garden supply also. Plants, seed, soil, compost, water supply, you name it Theyve got it. Knowledgeable staff who will pull in additional staff is something isn't in their wheelhouse.
Eddie and Zack are super friendly and knowledgeable! I come her for all home repairs and more. They even had an awesome selection on Christmas items. They have a rewards card and offer a military discount. From the moment you walk in, everyone makes you feel welcomed. You never have to search for someone to help you.
greeted by Ed, he was rude, "no, we don't do double pane, no" even after I said the man I spoke with on the phone is just giving us advice & show us how to install ourselves. The guy helping us was really helpful and nice, Ed should just minded his own business and let the guys do their work and only help when asked.
Yes, they have lots of inventory; yes they have good prices; yes they have safe, well lit parking. But...the BEST thing about Walt's is the staff. They are helpful, knowledgeable, courteous ,and have great customer service. Most of all, they never make me feel stupid when I ask for help with a project. Great place.
My visit was fine. I wish I would have gotten the young guy's name, hopefully your company will recognize him. He helped with making 4 keys for me. Very kind and helpful. It was about 2:30-2:45. He did a great job!! I thanked him for keeping the original keys separate from the new ones He was very nice and polite.
Went in for some respirator cartridges. Within seconds of being in the store I was greeted by a young man, that clearly new the store like the back of his hand, and helped me find what I was looking for. Both he, and the cashier were extremely friendly. The store was well stocked, and very clean. Would recommend.
This shop was very friendly, they didn't have what I ordered but made it right with an other item what was a fit for my item and cheaper thank you for Caterine & Diana for say hello to Me when I walked in and to Wes he is the best he is the one that made my experience with my order ok with top shelf service
I've been coming to this store for over 7 years and I never had a bad experience. The staff is friendly and quick to help you with anything you need. They even stayed open late on more than one occasion to help me by mixing paint, since I work 10+ hrs a day and can't get there until almost closing time.
I’ve never been so insulted and treated soo poorly for the way I look. I’m a female plumber working in over 100degree weather!! I need one part, that not even the employees are educated in and I’m watched and followed the whole time! So insulting and degrading!!! This place needs to be shut down!!

I have come in with some unusual requests for help. I repair vintage electronics as a hobby and I am always looking to find replacement parts or the next best thing. They usually have a solution or point me in the right direction if they don't have it. Great people, friendly and knowledgeable.
I love this place because I can walk in the door and find exactly what I came for in a minute or two without walking a half mile to get to it. All the employees are knowledgeable and attentive if you need help. The prices seem quite competitive to the big box stores over all. Great place!!
I've been a customer for about ten years. I'm in and out more than I want to admit. But I'm always amazed at the variety of things they carry even though it appears to be a small store. Good quality. Excellent customer care. I can get what I need quickly unlike larger stores of this type.
Sales people were friendly and knowledgeable too. They had the DC switches that I could not seem to find anywhere else. 5 stars for that! Wish I had gotten the sales person's name to give Kudos to him. A younger guy who knew about boats and ATV's and switches for ignition and such.
Ace pretty much has anything your looking for without the hassle of a big box store. The prices are generally higher but sometimes its worth it for the convience and the employees there try hard to be helpful. They also do things like cut glass, rekey locks and replace screens.
This place was very helpful and the manager went above and beyond going way out of his way to get me what I needed. They will deliver to any business. Their customer service is exceptional and you are all but guaranteed a pleasant and helpful experience when you come hers
Typical hardware store they have a little bit of everything. Its easier for me to navigate than a home center big box store. They are a bit more expensive but the personalized help you get is worth it to me. And they are open late til 9pm. Also easy parking is a bonus!
Came in to the store today looking for a part I’ve been trying to find all around town. Walked in and was treated awesome and instantly welcomed in. Eddie was a great help and very knowledgeable about the random questions I kept asking him. Awesome store great people.
Excellent customer service. Staff extremely friendly and helpful. They helped me with my issue: what I needed, took me to where they keep it, gave me options and even gave me a sale price on one item that wasn't marked that it was on sale! I recommend this store 100%
Tried calling twice to see if they had an item in stock, kept getting put on hold and then hung up on both times. Home depot has the same item for $10 more, but atleast I know if I call them, I'll actually get to talk to an employee and get my questions answered.
Sad ppl of color still gets profiled in 2023, and gets disrespected because they don’t want someone hovering over them while they browse the store. Oh my fault you all think browsing the store is a problem when that’s what leads to buying. Anyway y’all racist.
Kind and helpful employees. I placed a Special Order on two single-pane glass cuts. Other businesses couldn't fill the order for a day or two. Walt's Ace hardware literally filled my order within 15 minutes. Can't go wrong here. They've always had what I need.
This is one of the best ace's you'll find. Over the top friendly & knowledgeable staff, usually you get one or the other, here you get both. Plus, they have everything you could possibly be looking for in half the space of the other aces. Parking is horrible .
I have frequented the store for years. The staff have always been friendly and helpful. They have even gone beyond that to help when I had an idea and didn't know exactly how to complete a project. This has saved not only time but money. Great Job!
They tried to make me set my backpack out side the door on the sidewalk to even come into store I even asked and I leave it at the register they told me company policy. I don't see why I have to put my stuff at Jeopardy just to come into the store
One of my go to places 100 percent more helpful and easier to find what I need than any big boxes and prices are right in line some even better on DIY essentials . Store is in my neighborhood too and feels exactly like a small town hardware store
You can always find what your looking for. Very friendly employees. Sometimes they can be too helpful in the sense that it's not a very big store and you can get asked if you need help 5 times in 10 minutes. Very clean and very well organized.
Called and Angel helped with information. Then picked up with Angel helping me to load. The chairs I got were perfect. Thank you for all your help. Made my visit stressless and a happy experience. Thanks Angel for your customer service.
They have always had the parts or equipment I've needed at better prices than other stores. They also helped us figure out what parts or fittings we need to do a project. I've always been very happy with the service I have revived here.
I called ahead to see if they would please stay open 5 minutes late for me because of the bus and they agreed but then when I spent the last affordable money I had to get there by bus they refused to allow me to sell it to me.
The cashiers were not friendly. My cashier didn't speak to me; she was rude. I will never spend another dime there. I try to support local neighborhood businesses like "Hardware" stores but that store will never see me again.
Awesome Store ! Great Staff from when You walk to When You Leave. They are Very Helpful Yet Not Pushy... All the Tools & Supplies Any One Could Ever Need. Also If You Get a Key Made You Know it Will Work. Awesome Store
They have everything I need, super knowledgeable staff and reasonable prices. They are right around the corner from me. For bigger purchases I go to Lowes and use my veterans discount. I would recommend Walts all day.
Great service! I went in to get what I needed to mount my router. Sounds easy but I am a senior and no knowledge of handiwork. I was treated with respect and they explained every detail of how to get the job done.
Went into the store because I had bought drill bits that didn’t work so they offered me one that would work and when it didn’t work, they said I couldn’t return it since I opened it. Awful place to go.
Ok , I m amezing customer of home Depot ( Spending around the 100,000 per year) Ace is very expensive but the customer service and the Worker knowledge is a different standard. they just treated better
Absolutely love this store!! The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. They are always willing to assist, and great prices too! I am certainly a faithful regular customer of this particular store.
Great people working on it but I don't know if they have a lot of losses but everything is locked up if you want to check something you have to call someone and you almost have to take it with you
Once again, Ace was a horrible experience. Paid 3x the advertised price and got to wait 30 minutes while the entire crew had a conversation about the characters on the sopranos. When will I learn?
Ace use to be a place to go to get better service, but it appears those days are gone. Wanted to get my new key cut for my car, but they refused to do it because I didn’t buy it from them. Greedy.
Super friendly and helpful. Knew exactly what I was asking for and walked me over to the product. It was so refreshing after having several frustrating visits to big box hardware stores recently.
They profile you like you are a potential shoplifter. And customer service is rude and sarcastic. Maybe because they have a lot to deal with because of such the bad neighborhood they are in.
Don't buy any thing because if it turns out you didn't need the tool or product you baught from there store and it cost a lot of money, they won't let you take it back at there discretion.
I typically wouldn’t rate a hardware store but I’ve had to come here several times the past few weeks. They are very helpful and help me get what I need quickly! Thank you …
I have never been in a store that looked as clean and well organized as this one. I kid you not, it looks like it just opened that day. And they've got great customer service.
This is my spot for all things HOME! If you are a regular, then you are in the gang. If you have never been in a gang before; I recommend joining this one! I love this place.
Plumbing help wasn't very helpful. First impression made a lasting impression but, the cashier and the assistant got me what I needed and for that I brought it up to 3 stars
