Waterstones Putney is the epitome of a bookshop and why we should all still use them! I know it is a big chain, but this store has a real local friendly cozy feel, you really do feel comfortable enough to browse, pick up find a corner and settle in for a read. It is well set out and stocked and staff are really approachable and friendly, so if they haven't got it they will look it up and order it for you, happily. I love that they do little write up cards for books/authors, these are really helpful. My favourite thing is to get three or four books go into the cafe area, settle into a a booth or comfy chair and have a read with a good coffee. Oh and not sure what you're looking for, then go with the recommendeds for the month, there is always a good pick. We'll done staff at Putney waterstones, you might be a chainstore, but you really are my bookshop around the corner!
This is a wonderful book shop, considering it is not the usual little independent I look for. The staff managed to give just the right attention to customers neither overbearing nor invisible. I took a teenager for a Sunday 'couch potato' session, we gathered up several books each after browsing, then sat in coffee shop side on big comfy sofa, feet up reading til our hearts content! No-one minded and there was no expectation that we had to buy anything, although we did as some good special offers. Will certainly be doing this again soon well done Waterstones for achieving what others have tried.
Most part quiet, which is nice if you want to read in store (which you can). There is nice chairs and a little coffee bar area where you can read. Has a good selection of books, however is lacking in the ancient history/history area as it's mostly filled with WW2 books rather than stuff about Aztecs, French revolution and other worldly history topics. It's got the same prices as any other waterstone, has memorabilia of pop culture stuff and they help you to order books to the store if not available. Overall pretty good
Went to buy I book that was mentioned on the radio that morning. I didn't know the title, only that it was on Japan. I gave the assistant the author's wrong name but I remembered on which radio was the programme, the name of it and at what time was the programme. And this fantastic person, went to the computer and looked for the programme, the people invited that morning and from that we got the right name of the author and then she arrived with the book. Incredible sales lady, such a patience and good will. Thank you!
We had a coffee at the W cafe, the coffees were of high quality and very tasteful. Staff were very friendly at the W cafe and they did a good a at keeping the cafe clean. The actual bookshop it's self was also very nice, lots of great selection of books which was clearly labeled making it easier to find the subject you were looking for. The store was also very clean, tidy, modern. Shall come here again soon, brilliant selection of books and the cafe was excellent.
I like their coffee, cakes and atmosphere. However, I am so disappointed with their post-Christmas policy of serving coffee in take away cups as it was predicted to be a busy time. It was not busy on the 27th December when this policy was in place. First I do not think it will make such a huge difference in terms of saving time and secondly and more important I think it is an irresponsible waste of resources and an unnecessary accumulation of non recyclable waste.
Poor attitude from staff member. Don't usually buy from Waterstones (prefer independent book shops, or for convenience only Amazon) but I had a £10 off stamp voucher due to an expensive purchase in Waterstones (another branch) previously. Woman working there (in book shop not the café) on afternoon of 3rd May, was uninterested, unfriendly and clearly didn't want to be there - a little hint for you then: leave! Won't be buying from there again.
Wonderful place to be - Putney Waterstones small but full of lovely books for all ages the children boos in the end of the store - there is a book for ever age, start from 1 year old. Some of the books marked as environmental friendly and some are marking as dyslexia friendly easy to read with special font. Staff is really busy helping a lot of costumers but I did my Christmas shopping - Marry Christmas every one
Book store absolutely fine. Friendly and efficient staff. The cafe used to be very nice and welcoming with a good range of sandwiches and coffees. The last 3 times i have been in. The tills haven't been working, given stale scones and yesterday found 2 hairs in my toasted sandwich. Not very nice. Tried to be fair and not blame the server but an offer of another one wasn't really the point.
I missed the coffee shop here. The consistency has always been good, they take the care to ensure the coffee tastes the same every time (unlike some shops where it doesn't). But I'm pretty sure they're serving the coffee hotter than they used to (different team). It was served at drinking temperature before, but now it has to cool down.
Lovely bookshop inside the little Putney shopping centre right by the entrance. Inside the bookshop they have a little, cosy coffee shop with a spacious room to enjoy your drink and your book. The staff is friendly and helpful, the selection of books is fairly big. Well worth the visit. Recommended.
It is a lovely shop with a built in cafe where you are welcomed to buy a beverage and read a book. The books themselves are a collection of hard back, paper backs and more. They also sell some cool board games that I always check out. The prices are fair and the staff are welcoming and helpful.
Great place if you need to work or study. You can sit in your place and stay with your computer. Good coffee and friendly staff. Sometimes is very busy and with a lot of babies, I love babies, but if you need concentration is better to know before. Good food. I tried the croissant and a soup.
I am very impressed with the customer service, the girl at the coffee shop was so nice and you could just feel she liked her job, great atmosphere, very good coffee, and the “sugar blocks”( not sure how it is called) on the tables were just so cute!! I wish I knew this place before.
Looking for the latest published books? For something you need to buy as a present? I simply a space to sit and enjoy your books? Waterstones is the place for you. I bought an amazing writing set as well. If you have some time go check out their collection of envelopes and papers.
Who doesn't like a Waterstones!? The staff are always there to help. You ask for an author and they will lead you straight on. I have given it 4 stars only as it is a little dark at the back and it seems there is hardly any children looking in/at books these days. A little sad!
Nice place for a coffee. The high Street seems to have lost its coffee shops . Nero is further down but as there are less coffee places than on previous visits it was quite full. The coffee was good . Next time I go to putney I will return to Waterston and maybe but a book
Your typical Waterston with an exceptionally nice cafe at the front. Newly renovated and very child friendly. Great gift books selection and nice layout. No sitting area to read a book though! Service is efficient but it lacks personal touch of a small bookstore.
This shop goes is larger than it looks! There's a good selection of books and lots of places to sit, as well as the cafe area. It's also good for gift buying. If you can't find something the staff are very helpful and can order in specific titles.
I'm a book lover and I love Waterstones. It may looks small, but it has A LOT of books, the staff is helpful and all looks so organized. I usually spend 1 or 2 h in there whenever I get to Putney Exchange where it's located.
A bookshop with a wide range of literature, and a nice café to read in. Can be a bit crowded sometimes for a bookshop but it's not really a big deal. I would certainly recommend it if you were looking for any kind of book.
Always love a good book shop, this place was great, wide selection of books and stuff were helpful. As I needed some decent books for my young neice and was helped quickly and Info was provided without me having to ask.
A lovely bookshop with a great feel to it. It's got a great big kids section at the back, and a cafe looking out onto the shopping centre, which has a really nice, relaxed feel to it. The staff are friendly and helpful.
Great staff, the one who helped me had a lot of great recommendations and we had a good chat about fantasy books. The children's section was great as well, the kids bookseller was so knowledgeable and so helpful!
Putney's Waterstones well stocked and good to see some comfy seats for browsing. I liked the travel section and the collection of books about London. Could have spent longer than twenty minutes here, no bother
Chris was incredibly helpful in assisting me to find a signed special edition of a book - really friendly, very helpful and just what you need in a bookshop like Waterstones. Thanks for all your help, Chris!
Nice and refreshing store. Very cosy coffee section. A nice collection of books and in a well organized manner. I very much enjoy this particular Waterstones more than others and I definitely recommend it!
A lovely bookshop with a great selection of books. Well spaced out and easy to find what you're looking for. A nice atmosphere to browse the selection and the staff are helpful when you need something.
Nice bookshop. The staff are helpful. Wish it is a more spacy store as I usually carry shopping bags and need to move them each time someone passes by. But in genera, it is nice.
A good bookshop - plenty of recent and older publications, always happy to order in, knowledgeable and friendly staff. A happy place to visit - and irresistibly, to buy books....
Such a lovely experience, old school book shop vibes. There's a café inside as well. The lady on the till was so nice, had a good chat while purchasing my items, made my day
Loved it. My new favourite place. I could spend hours looking through the shelves and enjoying a nice drink on their cafe. Just the perfect place for bookworms like me!
Great coffe in the bookshop itself, so you actually can buy a good read and start straight away! They actually offer a free hot drink if you buy the Book of the Month.
Nice place to have coffee if you can get a window seat and do some people-watching. Nice relaxed bookshop, with nice staff and some really difficult jigsaw puzzles.
Enjoyed the caramelised onion sandwich, poppy seed muffin (best I've had in London thus far) and decaf mocha. Served with a smile and patience with my little one.
Though a bit crammed lots of variety. Updated my waterstone card for savings etc and all done efficiently. Didnt purchase anything this time just good browse.
Wonderful staff in Putney behind the desk and in the cafe area. Best coffee that I have had in Putney. Lots going on like book clubs etc Well worth a visit.
Nothing like going to waterstones, buying some cool new books and studying them with a coffee made at the Waterstones cafe by the terrific staff.
Waterstones is overall good. I do think the staff could be a little more smiley more welcoming . I bought my book and an very happy with it.
Yes always a nice place to visit. . Lovely cafe and lovely staff.. bookshop well stocked and staff are always helpful and friendly .
The bookshop is great. Whatever you do don't buy a flat white coffee in the cafe. It's easily the worst coffee I have ever drunk.
Nice and comfy, great pastries, tea and coffee. But slow Internet, quite cold, and no toilet (have to exit and go to the mall's).
Good book shop with a great selection. They have opened a cafe inside. It's a nice touch but the coffee is basic and expensive.
Surprisingly large with a good selection of books and a few board and card games and some very helpful and knowledgeable staff.
I like the atmosphere and that there's no painful background music overwhelming. Good coffee, yummy cakes, generous sandwiches.
Something wrong about the book arrangement. Maybe because it gets less bibliophile traffic. I like a clear news books sections
Pretty good coverage on most interests you can think of ,looks small but go's back quite far and I think it has a downstairs.
Good stock and welcoming atmosphere with friendly staff. Also benefits from an integrated coffee shop (when Covid-19 allows).
Great selection of books and a wonderful if small cafe to read or work in - just a shame the cafe often closes quite early :(
Bookstore inside a Putney mall with a cafe attached. No newspapers. Excellent chai latte but average coffee. (December 2017)
Great book shop with something for everyone. Relaxed atmosphere with coffee shop attached. Friendly & knowledgeable staff.
Great. Always good stuff, gets crowded after lunchtime. Best time to enjoy a good read with a cuppa in the morning hours.
Relatively small bookstore with café within the arcade in the centre of Putney. Tesi came selection of titles available.
Great bookshop, lovely and helpful staff. The cafe is a lovely space with a great atmosphere. Perfect to relax and read.
Lovely staff and great atmosphere next time plan your visit so you can enjoy a nice cuppa as well ! …
A nice space for coffee and snacks but extremely expensive compared to some of the other areas that in the local area

Super bookshop knowledgeable staff and always so helpful coffee shop warm and comfortable support local book ahops
Just had a browse. I need a new place to live or get rid of some books (my babies...). Fantastic children section
Great selection, well organized and tidy. Relaxing vibe, will need to come back and relax in the cafe soon.
I like to shop around for books. I wish they re-instate the previous order system to collect from the store
Great to be browsing a book store again. Especially with the smell of coffee drifting thru from the cafe.
Really nice branch with a cafe and a large selection of books and other items, I'd recommend visiting.
The young man who located the book for me made my shopping experience super easy and quite enjoyable.
I love this place, specially the little Café, ideal to have a coffee and a cake while reading a book.
I brought a anime figure so ofc I'm happy abt it, large range of books starting from anime to novels
Lovely place to have a roam around or have a fantastic cup of coffee with some lovely cakes to pick.
Good selection of books and a lovely cafe to sit and enjoy a good book with amazing hot chocolate.
Beautifully spaced and well layed out bookstore. Always something new to explore for book lovers.
The perfect place for book browsing, book buying and coffee.. 》'The Best Bookshop in the World'《
Grateful to be able to work from here for a few minutes and enjoyed a well done soy chai latte!
What is not to love about this book store. My home away from home. Love the loyalty card …
The staff is helpful but the system is not functioning well. They couldn't order a book to me
Only thing that keeps shopping centre busy, doubtful it will remain open even after lockdown
Wonderful bookstore. Good selection of travel books. Excellent selection of greeting cards.
I went to the caffe .The staff are absolutely amazing and I love the iced honeycomb latte.
First time visiting this branch. Very nice comfortable layout. Spacious yet lots of books.

Such a beautiful cafe and book store, the woman who made my coffee did an amazing job!
Its nice to have bookstores where you can hang out with the children and have a coffee

Very good selection of books. No Mills and Boon? Nice to have a cafe. Friendly staff.
Lovely coffee shop, spacey and quiet. Nice selection of teas, very friendly staff.
