I have always had problems with billing here. However, the most recent incidents will likely make me change dental offices. For services I received in the fall of 2021, they provided no billing estimates. On the day I had my filling done the receptionist told me I didn't owe anything. However, I assured her that was wrong and opted to prepay based up the newly calculated estimate that she came up with. They sent me a bill several months after my date of service, and it was a past due notice despite it being my first bill. I contacted them immediately and they assured me they were taking care of it and would contact my insurance. They said I'd likely owe nothing. I've followed up a few times and each time they were still working on my case. At one point, I was told the charges were for my regular check ups which makes absolutely no sense because those are covered under my plan. Today, I received a second past due notice with additional charges. I called the office and they had no answers or update for me. I called my insurance and they are saying based upon the claims, I shouldn't owe the amount listed on my bill. The rep stated that they denied claims for higher price points because Webster dental is in network. However, those denied claims were approved for lower prices based upon the billing agreement. The bill is not itemized and does not show the dates of service. I have a primary that covers routine dental care and secondary plan that covers all other charges. This office just can't seem to get the billing correct. I read in another review a patient had billing issues and it was sent to collections! I plan to request a full ledger, and my insurance plans to call them tomorrow to straighten this out. My dentist has also changed several times so I'm assuming there is high turnover here. I can also confirm what Ellen Cox said about there not being a dentist on duty for late appointments. I had my regular check up a few weeks ago and the receptionist called me about 15 minutes before my appointment to ask if I needed to see the dentist. I had to come back to the office on the weekend for the dentist to take a look at my teeth.
I didn't like the way they worked on me. They knew how sensitive I was on the spot and to go easy as they even pointed out what my problem was. But no, they just went in there hard and fast. Like what the heck is your problem? I had to have reacted to it like 5 or 6 times and the response I got was that patronizing "Awww" like I'm some child. Seriously? Is that how you treat your clients? I don't care where you went to school or who trained you or the fact that you're a professional, you aught to have good bedside manners too. Oh and get this, my goodie bag had a child's toothpaste! Wow, quite fitting with the "Awww" response - insulting much? Am I petty? Sure. But I just found that funny haha and mostly peculiar? Anyway, then there's their superior who mentioned the gap that I've had for YEARS before I stepped foot in this place - suggesting that I get an implant. I told the previous doctor not long ago that it was a hard pass. Hope I never run into her again - cannot stand her. So why now after all these years and the years I've been there? It has made no impact to my oral health AT ALL. You know, this place has changed since a lot of people left. I should have bailed the moment that happened but I wanted to give them a chance. I don't know - this is the second time I've thought about dropping them. Maybe third times a charm? We will see. I usually resolve situations like this head on or face to face but businesses can be a-holes because they just don't care and the only way out is to say things like 'We would be happy to recommend another place for you' or whatever, with a phony smile. I've seen this far too many times with other people and thanks to on-line reviews, maybe this is the avenue we need to make change or for THEM, the businesses, to change. We will see when I'm back in January. I might even make my decision before my next appointment.
One of the worst customer service experiences I have had. Maria from their front desk called me 4 days in a row to change my appointment from 12:30 to 12 or 1. Each time I told her 1 will be perfectly fine. When I choose when she would tell me that doesn’t work let’s keep it at 12:30. This happen three times. When on the fourth day a man called and spoke with me and changed it to 1. No problem. Day of the appointment I get a text message telling me my time is 12:30. I arrive a little earlier then 12:30 to fill out paper work. The woman at the desk said my appointment is 1 and asked me to wear a mask. I put on my mask and she walks in the back. She talks to someone loud enough for me to hear her complain that I’m early for my appointment, that she can’t believe I came in without a mask (which I put on when asked since it no longer required by law but business can choose). Some woman that didn’t give me say her name comes over to me and tells me they called me multiple times to change my appointment. Then states they don’t send text messages and she has no idea who would text me. She is acting like it is all my fault for setting up an appointment with them and giving me impression she thinks I’m lying. She then tells me I will have to wait for 1 now. At this point I don’t trust I will be produced adequate service. I tell them I will be leaving. She does say sorry one time as I’m walking out the door and Maria at the desk never says a word just blankly stares at me when I ask for my drivers license and insurance card back.
This facility is absolutely awful. I started coming here approximately 11 years ago, and this office has gone steadily downhill. I'm not sure what's going on behind the scenes but I've consistently had headaches here including: billing my insurance wrong, billing the wrong dentist, bad attitudes from the hygienist. There is constant turnover from the dentists and hygienists and I've had a few over the years confide about how chaotic it is. Consistent scheduling mess-ups by front desk staff. Dentists suddenly leaving because they are fed up. The last straw was this morning when I went in for my twice yearly visit: only to be told at the END of my cleaning that there was no dentist present. Thereby wasting my time as I have to come back anyways to address my concerns and wasting an insurance visit by coming back as I only get a few a year. Apparently they are supposed to let patients know when they schedule, but I assure you they didn't. Shame on me by continuing to go to them because my records are there: this time was the last. If this review convinces just one on the fence person to go somewhere else, than this poor review has done its job.
billing issues! I typically don’t write reviews but thought I should warn others… went to this clinic for about 18months and did the following a) cleaning b) 2x gum graft c) crown replacement d) teeth filling replacement. In both gum graft and crown replacement there was prior agreement on what was out of pocket and what insurance will cover. In the end I paid $1500+ because of a) miscalculation on what they could charge in 2021 and b) insurance refusing to cover what they wanted to charge on the second gum graft , this was sus given the first one (right side lower gum) was accepted by insurance w/out issues. On the services - crown replacement was superb but I ended up paying $400 extra out of pocket just for color matching w rest of my teeth. Cleaning is almost non-existent …. They look at your teeth, brush then fluoride … I can still see stains…. Overall not recommended… stay away from this clinic!
I’m writing this review several years after visiting this practice so please review accordingly. But upon visiting a 3rd dentist to confirm my instinct I felt compelled to write a review. I was without dental insurance for 5 years and paid for a cleaning at Webster with my own money and upon completion was told I had 13 cavities. 13. Nope. I have great oral health despite my previous lack of insurance and that was not the case. I’ve since been to two different dentists because of a move and my 3 cavities have been filled and they can’t imagine anyone saying that there could have been more. This practice wants your money. Unfortunately, these days you must confirm that your dentist practices “conservative dentistry” to ensure they’re not drilling into every stain on a tooth. That is not the case with Webster. They were very nice but the dentistry they’re practicing is tantamount to fraud.
I’ve had good experiences with Webster Dental Care since I selected them as my dental provider in January 2018, after relocating to Chicago. The staff is always very friendly and I have rarely (if ever) had to wait long for my appointment to start - they always seem to be running on schedule, which is impressive! I have been referred for a few procedures I’m not sure were necessary - my prior dentist who was my provider for 20 years had never indicated these types of procedures were needed. But I appreciate that they are closely looking at my care from visit to visit. My provider since early 2019 has been Dr. Tran and she is really wonderful, very kind, good bedside manner, and does good, efficient work. The hygienists are always excellent and professional as well.
Do not go here! Someone else mentioned high turnover here. I don’t know but I have been going here for over year. It is different dentist each time. I’m not sure if it’s just a scheduling situation. At my 3rd visit they took x-rays because they said I was a new patient. I was not, then they charged me for it. It was suppose to be a standard cleaning. After I said, I wasn’t new the dentist came to look at chart, and said oh, you’re not new. Still charged me for the X-rays and said it’s standard to get them every year. Recommendations for low risk patients is 24-36 months. Do not go to a practice that doesn’t acknowledge they messed up or advises you to do additional procedures to make money.
Beware of new management at Webster Dental, as they view the practice as a pure business and will not own up to their mistakes. After telling my wife a procedure would be covered by insurance they sent us a bill for 5 times the expected amount because, in the end, insurance didn't cover it. Even though our entire family had been clients for 24 years and always paid all our bills on time, they never admitted the mistake nor offered a negotiated price. Needless to say, we just moved to another practice... What's interesting is that we actually found several former Webster Dental people there, both clients and employees who also decided to move on. We understand why.
Everyone is kind and helpful. Dentist Bryan Hovel is very careful and patient and he is always smiling and so is his assistant guessing Hovel’s next step. My favorite thing at Webster Dental is the 3D printer that makes crowns on the spot. I was in and out in a one 90-minute appointment with my permanent crown that fit perfectly. Forget about temporary crowns and crowns that not fit and the mold with the play dough that takes a print of your teeth. Here they scan your teeth and your bite and they send the pictures to the 3D printer!!
Dr. Silpha Joshi!!!! My Son is a non-verbal autistic 6 year old. Needless to say his favorite place is NOT the Dentist but Dr. Joshi is amazing!! Our previous experiences with other dentists is that they see he definitely is uncomfortable and want to get him out asap. That is NOT the case for Dr. Joshi. She is so patient with my son. Very knowledgeable, and is not afraid to roll up her sleeves and service his teeth thoroughly. I can’t express how much we appreciate and LOVE her! She always does an amazing job!!!
By far the best dentist practice I have been to. The staff is very helpful. My dental hygienist took time to explain, show and articulate the reason why I was feeling specific symptoms. She was also very gentle and explained each step. The doctor was also patient, kind and ensured all things were completed and above expectations. I left my experience feeling like they cared and completely blown my expectations out of the water from a dental practice.
After several frustrating experiences trying to get an appointment all over the city, Webster had same-week openings for a new patient cleaning and exam -- and they're in network! All the staff were kind, efficient, helpful. The dental assistant and dentist were super gentle and explained their processes and my exam results clearly and effectively. They really made going to the dentist a wonderful experience and I'm so happy I found the practice!
They are always so professional, no matter the reason for my visit. They were able to fit me in the very next day for some tooth pain I was having. I appreciate how clean the office is, and how friendly the employees are. I have always had my questions answered respectfully as well. I have lived in Chicagoland for 15 years and this is the first positive dentist office experience I've had. Yay for Webster Dental Care!!
Changed my review and changed dentists. They have an incredibly high turn over rate for dentists, dental hygienists and the assistants. You can draw your own conclusions as to how that has impacted the quality of care and even equipment- they were like have a seat on this chair that has a giant hole in the upholstery. Also trying to get to that office with Ashland traffic is impossible.
Dental care itself is fine. However, they will continue to send you fraudulent bills for years. Immediately after my son's visit, they sent us a bill even though insurance covered everything. Called they admitted their mistake and then sent me the same bill AGAIN. 7 months later they sent me a bill for a no call no show for an appointment I never made nor received any confirmation for.
Dr. Pikus and all the staff were very friendly, engaging and professional. Dr. Pikus does a great job of explaining what she was seeing and a plan of action going forward. I felt well taken care of and my mouth feels great. I hadn't been to a dentist in nearly 4 years but I know I made the right decision by going to Webster Dental care and I look forward to going back.
How do I begin? What a great experience getting my teeth cleaned. Profesional staff and was in an out very quickly. Mariela was the dental hygienist on duty. She was very thorough with my cleaning and mindful of my extreme tooth pain. I felt like a got a new smile after my dental cleaning. If I could give 10 star I would. Can't wait to be back here in December!!!
I had two urgent dental matters over the past year, and both times the staff was very helpful and able to get me in as soon as they could. Both times I was treated by Dr. Bryan Hovel who was marvelous -- excellent care by him and his tech and he clearly and patiently answered all my questions. I was very pleased indeed with the care I received.
After not going to a dentist for several years, I was a little worried about what I'd be in for. The dentist and hygienist were both running on time, and the hygienist was very patient and kind, explaining what was going on each step of the way. I wasn't sore (surprisingly) after the appointment and will be going back for my next cleaning.
I have been going to Webster Dental for 20+ years and would recommend them to anyone. D everyone. I have had many procedures done there including fillings, root canals and recently veneers! The staff is incredible and very personable! Ask for Tori and Dr Tran! The best! And I love the Hawaii decor having been born there!
Lakeview Webster dental is a one stop shop for all your dental needs! Staff is courteous, knowledgeable and professional. Mariela is the best hygienist I have ever met and keeps me periodontal disease at bay. She is meticulous and brings a sense of humor to your visit.
I have been a patient at Webster Dental Care for years. The dental staff are wonderful. Dr. Havel is a kind & caring dentist. The front desk people are great too. It's a convenient location in Lincoln Park/Lakeview--much easier than going downtown. Highly recommend.
Used to be great. But now I’m current waiting for my second root canal. The first time was bc Webster dentists couldn’t figure out which tooth was causing me pain. This time it’s because they wanted to remove a filling and put a crown on a
Moved to Chicago over a year ago and just went in for my second cleaning. So impressed with Webster Dental Care Lakeview for various reasons such as the friendly staff, professionalism, quality cleaning/procedures, cleanliness, support of
Dr. Tran and my hygienist Tori were fantastic! I usually have issues getting numb but Dr. Tran has the best touch “double” numbing and I didn’t feel anything. It was a tricky procedure on my crown, but the skills she has and the team here
I can't speak to the quality of the providers. The office staff are very inept. I made the appointment weeks in advance, and it took them until *the day before my appointment* to run my insurance and verify that I'm not covered at that
My experience with this practice was smooth from beginning to end. Professional and quick. However the true star of this practice is Myesha up in the front. She was the one that I talked to when I booked my initial appointment and she
It’s no surprise why many of their best dentists/staff have left over the years. Clearly a toxic environment. Quality and overall attitude of their current dental team is blatantly rude, with rushed conversations, very dismissive, and
The hygienist Ruth was quite possibly the nicest person to have during my visit. She made my dental procedure so much better and comforted me when I needed it! All the people that work here are super friendly. Definitely recommend :)
I highly recommend Webster Dental Care. From the moment you walk in the door you feel welcomed in by their amazing staff. The have a very clean, comfortable facility and follow all the proper guidelines to make your visit safe and
Great care from start to finish! Creating an appointment was super straightforward, and wait time in the office was 5 minutes tops. Everyone was super kind and reassuring and it's obvious Dr. Havel truly cares about his patients.
I have been a patient at Webster Dental since 1987. The staff is always friendly and professional. The quality of the work is outstanding. They always do everything possible to make you comfortable. I recommend them highly.
Everyone was so wonderful for my first visit, but Amelia, my hygienist, was especially! Not only did I love our conversation, but it was the most thorough (and informative) cleaning I’ve ever had. Excited to return!
I loved my experience at Webster Dental. Dr.Richter was fabulous. He is a true professional ! His assistant is great! The atmosphere is so comforting!, and the front desk staff so helpful. Thanks to everyone!
This dentist has spectacular service for the whole family. The workers make you feel very calm and collected, if your a first timer. Overall, this dental practice is amazing and I definitely recommend!
I had an amazing experience at Webster Dental. Dr. Joshi was very patient and thorough while dealing with my autistic son anxiety’s. Everyone in the office is helpful and nice.
I visited Dr. Pikus to get fitted for Invisalign back in October 2022 and have had a great overall experience thru the every step of the process. Highly recommended!
Nice office with helpful, friendly staff and a comfortable atmosphere. Nobody loves going to the dentist, but they make it as pleasant as it can be.
Great experience. First time at new dentist and they were helpful and professional. Highly recommend
