The customer service at this store is deplorable. There are usually only two cashiers open at a very busy time, in addition the cashiers refused to assist you in packing up your groceries. Although you provide your own bags people still require assistance. I have had a cashier walk away soon as they rang me up to avoid assisting me. The management at the store needs to be reevaluated and the staff need to be trained in customer service. As a Frontline staff in a supermarket that is frequently visited by consumers there should be a level of compassion and consideration . There have been numerous occasions where I was charged an incorrect price I’m not compensated for the difference, they have been various occasions where they want to dispute a price although it is clearly listed on a circular. I live near the store so it is convenient to drive to but I am going to be changing my supermarket after my experience tonight. The shopping experience is mentally exhausting in addition to physically I was in due to my physical disability. I am aware there is a staffing shortage due to the pandemic and vaccine mandates in place but there needs to be a level the professionalism of all staff that are hired.
I was very surprised to see major changes in the supermarket. The refrigerators are all being replaced with new ones so it doesn't have that FOUL smell it used to have when you walk in. The products are rearranged where you get to shop for fruits and vegetables upfront and the other brands are towards the back. The fish market is now in the back, right next to the meat refrigerator. It was a nice experience. Some products didn't have a visible price but I hope that is something they'll work on in the future and labeling the isles better. Way to go Western Beef. You got my attention once again. I hadn't been back since last summer 2021 because of a bad experience with a product and had to go all the way back to return it. Regardless, the employee was very courteous and took care of it right away. But with all the ongoing improvements, I will definitely be shopping there more often, even though some of the prices are a tad bit higher than what I'm used to (especially the cereals - can you hook us up with better sales?). Thank you Western Beef for meeting the needs of the consumers. Keep it up now!!!
Western Beef has cheap prices and a decent enough quality selection. However, the lines are long and the register staff is lackadaisical. While there are twelve lanes, it is rare for more than 3 or 4 to be open. That can be frustrating as you watch the manager wander about aimlessly, chatting up staff that can be working the register but are engaged in socializing. The aisles are usually packed with items that need to be put away. It takes a certain amount of skill to maneuver through the aisles. The walk-in freezer is usually well-stacked with brand name items. Depending on the day, you will be able to find many items on sale for pleasantly surprising low cost. This store can be a bargain-hunter's treasure hunt. If you want to benefit from the good prices, you have to be willing to dedicate the time. If you want to minimize the hassle, you can take advantage of the early morning hours (they open at 7am) or stop by later (they close at 9pm). The store is more manageable then. You won't have to face a scrum of people, carts and boxes that need to be put away.
RUDE STAFF- specifically that skinny Jamaican manager with braids. He’s the worst. He speak to some of the employees there like they’re his child. NOT CLEAN - on 6.11 was the 2nd time I’ve gotten sick by food prepared by hand. I bought fruit salads yesterday. After eating a bowl of watermelon I became terribly ill. The same thing for those pasta and meat plates they sell. At first when I started buying them it was good then they got sloppy. You can smell the rawness around the plastic and I’ve also gotten I’ll. They’re either not washing their hands or the area where they prepare the food, is not clean. It’s very convenient and I love shopping there but there needs to be provisions put in place. The owners or managers need to make sure that things that are being handled is done with cleanliness.
PLEASE DO NOT SHOP HERE!!!!!! I was shopping for my kids dinner and I found an item that I wanted. I took out item that I wanted to replace and put it on the shelf. One of the employees (he said he was the manager) proceeded to pick the item up that I put down on the shelf and walk up on me and aggressively throw the item back in my basket and yell at me to put it back where I got it from. I was so shaken up that a grown man would come at me aggressively for putting an item on the shelf. I called the corporate office to rectify the situation and they said they would get back to me but nobody never did. That is unacceptable customer service. NO EMPLOYEE SHOULD HAVE NEEN IN MY PERSONAL SPACE LIKE THAT!!!! I guess they act like that because clearly coperate doesn't care
So, the good thing is the lines are shorter, but, there are 4 things to be aware of... 1) Be careful of the fruits & vegetables. I don't know if it's supply chain problems or not, but much of the stock is past it's prime. 2) Although the store may have been rearranged & cleaned, the occasional mishap still takes place. 3) Since the "great renovation" the prices have skyrocketed, even above Foodtown's for many items. 4) The renovation was Not great in my humble opinion not just because of the high prices, but also due to the loss of the Cold Room. I used to enjoy going there to cool off while selecting eggs, meat, and dairy. Now those foods are in open cases among the regular foods at room temperature, which really shortens their shelf-life.
The prices are decent but you end up waiting on line for 20 minutes. They really need to do something about this. That's the only problem I have with this supermarket. The lines are long and they don't know how to deal with it. They have 14 registers in total and only 5 -7 are open at any given time. There are also workers just walking around doing nothing. Something really needs to be done or I will take my business elsewhere. I'm adding on to my previous review. They also do not enforce the express line rules. They let people on the express line with more than 10 items. Best Supermarket needs better structure and better management.
This was my first time at this establishment so I really don't have a frame of reference. I took a friend to Western Beef on Empire to pick up a couple of items before I took her home and decided to go in as well. Their meat prices are on the mid to high side for the area in my opinion. The prices range from $13 - $30+ depending on one's selection. I don't eat meat very often, however, when the urge comes I would like to be able to get a nice cut & quality of meat without putting a hole in my pocket. During these times people work hard just to stay broke; so establishments need to be mindful of their customer base.
Fresh Fruit.Fresh Bread,Fresh Seafood & Fresh Meats. The Aisles Are Clean. BUT Crowded With Unpacked Food For The Shelves.THE NEGATIVE IS:Not Enough Employees.I Can't Stand A Ringing Phone..I Stood In Line At This Store And Listened To Their Phone Ring Continuously. So I Called Their Phone. No One Went In The Office To Answer The Phone. This Is Bad Business.YES. They Just Had A Grand Re- Opening...The Prices Were Fantastic To Bring In New Customers And Bring Back The Old...Well I Think Now The Prices Increased So The Customers Can Pay For The Renovation The Location Went Through.
Recently renovated, the meat and frozen section is no longer separate. Some items are a little more expensive than other competitors like eggs, the cheapest I found was almost $5. But their creamer, dairy, cheese and Caribbean items are unmatched in price and variety. My favorite creamer is $2 cheaper here than the Key Food on Nostrand/Prospect Pl. Some sales better than others. The checkout and service is hit or miss, but my recent experiences were overall better than in the past. Constant restocking on Sunday, found everything I needed
I kid you not thee worst supermarket in my neighborhood!! The sales are awesome yes, but the service sucks soooo much. At whatever time you arrive, wither your doing a little or big shopping there's always an issue with the cashier! LIKE ALWAYS!!!! Besides being rude/disrespectful, the managers actually side with cashiers on this behavior. After the experience I had this morning....I proudly will not be stepping foot in that location ever again.
Great place to find all your food needs. Whether it's pastry, fruits and vegetables, meat, liquor... you are sure to find what you need there. They have a wide selection of all products in the store so you won't be stuck with only one brand. The atmosphere is pleasant to shop in and they play really nice music for you to listen to while you shop... I always catch myself dancing and singing in the aisles. Lol. I highly recommend shopping there!!
Brightly lit, plenty of fresh produce, friendly staff. One thing that was off putting was that there was chicken on the floor, somehow a pack of chicken was opened and it was left in the case and stray pieces were on the floor, not sure how it happened but it was weird. There were also 2 long lines, I was able to get on express line. Overall a nice place to gather groceries, better than any other Western Beef I've EVER been to.
Not a good place to shop. Food selection not good. They need to update with better selection and quality. Selling outdated meat. Time for western beef to close and move aside and let a better quality supermarket like Shop Rite or stop and Shop to take over. Seriously the neighborhood needs better quality supermarket for the space this western beef us occupying. It time to go. You are outdated.
It wasn't crowded when I went, which I prefer since it can get pretty crowded quick on most days. Everything was well stocked, prices are pretty fair as I'm able to get way more groceries here without breaking my budget than I'd ever get at another supermarket not far from here. I'd say the greens could stand to be a little fresher but overall their produce was pretty good.
The renovation looks good. But not the best place if your looking for great sales. If they do have good sales they cud do better with the signage in the aisles. The checkout is still slowwww!!! They should have put 2 self checkout out lanes for fast checkout! People don't have time to wait behind slow customers. And people with nowhere to be.
The worst managed grocery store location that I have ever encountered. One semi-competent manager could easily turn this around. Long lines, poorly stocked, inadequate checkout staffing. It is hard to believe how this grocery can afford not to improve given its excellent location with massive traffic and a large parking lot.
Worst experience ever. Bought milk March 19th 2021. Got home and saw it expired on 2/27/2021. My husband went to return it with the receipt and was given a hard time to get the refund. The manager made a discriminatory comment about people like him trying to get over. The milk was $2.79. I’ll never shop there again
Western Beef has really stepped up their game. Looks like a supermarket you'd find in the suburbs with everything looking Fresh and inviting, even upgraded deli and Bakery sections AND Fresh flowers. They need to extend their ice cream section but otherwise, it's someplace I'll be shopping at on a regular.
The store is now renovated, which it's OK for the neighborhood. However the customer service still horrible! Specially the cashier manager with white shirt... she is very very rude, she doesn't have any maners to treat costumers. So sad that they don't do any better in that situation.
I have not been to Western Beef for about 6 months. So when I walked inside my eyes were pleasantly surprise to all the upgrade. The lighting was spectacular you can see everything. It didn't have foul odor around the front of the door. Everything was nice and clean. I'm impressed.
I love this store. It's well stocked and has everything you need and more. Although the man in the meat section was very nasty and rude, I will just never asks for his help again but they have a great looking meat section. The produce section is amazing. …
Great deals and usually very well stocked. You can find anything you need here for basically any cuisine. The one downside is that the checkout lines always seem to be unreasonably long. This place would be five stars if they employed a few more cashiers.
They renovated and they finally have more fresh food, organic food and produce however unless it's on sale their prices are more expensive than other stores like Lincoln Market which is about 3 blocks away. There is also usually a long wait to pay.
I've been going here since a child and they are always stocked with the best stupid and the freshest meats. There's even a couoke butchers on site that will cut your meat anyway you like. They have several cashiers but there's usually allot
Budget shopping at it's best but since getting more health concious do not go here as often. They carry a wide variety of products but the store is in serious need of an upgrade but maybe that's how they keep their prices low. Their organic
Western Beef Empire Boulevard has made a marked improvement! The items are smartly grouped, which makes shopping easier on the customer and more items can be purchased because customers can readily see other items that compliment the major
I live in the neighborhood and shop on a average sometimes 3 to 4 times a week. I am usually frustrated because of the lack of cashiers, especially after working all day and looking to pick up a few things . The stocks are well shelved and
5 people were standing in the deli section with no gloves or masks on eating and chatting away like it was happy hour at the bar. Touching everything in site while making themselves hotdog and deli wrap sandwiches. Not a single person was
I wish you can post negative stars about this place. Do not go here unless you have 3hours to waste, in waiting in line alone. EVERYTIME I've gone in this supermarket the lines go through the aisles. Cashiers are extremely slow and don't
They have quality items: meat, produce and seafood. However, the issue is with the management and employees. Management has no presence. If an item needs to be voided, it is usually handled by another cashier who has to stop what they're
I love going here it has everything I need to feed my family and enjoy my carribbean foods. Good sales and friendly cashiers. Ok this is an update today is 3/15/22 so I needed some items to make candied Yams and I was shock they did a
Convenient location with plenty of free parking. This store has almost everything one needs to prepare a healthy meal. 4 stars only because prices went up on many items. Professional staff and clean location.
Sells expired products, do not comply with storage conditions, if you want to get poisoned, go ahead. Brought them dumplings with mold and they refused to issue a refund.never would come again here
I'm always at this location, I live in the neighborhood. The staff is friendly & very helpful. It gets a little busy sometimes but for the most part it's a very dependable store...
Empire boulevard Western beef has done an amazing job of upgrading their entire inventory and shopping experience! It's a pleasure to shop in my neighborhood store again
Very large store. They have a huge selection of items and incredible deals! There is also a parking lot which makes shopping at Western Beef very convenient.
Really nice and updated! Loads of fresh vegetables and meats. Wide aisles and clean environment. Wheelchair accessible, and parking lot availability.
Best drive in store in Brooklyn. Prices are good. Produce has a fast turnaround and is fresh. Beef pretty good too. Turkey always nice...
It's new and improved. The space is used better now with a variety of groceries to chose from. Still a good spot for Caribbean choices.
Great makeover. One BIG complaint is the aisles are toooo long. Each aisle is a block long. Please make them half the length
Same as in years past just a general remodel and cleanup of the old situation. Customer service 0 Price accuracy 0
Renovations made this place 10x better. Prices are still great and you’ll find all your needs in one stop shopping!
My go to spot for groceries lines are long but never too much, friendly service and great quality of meats.
The pork neck bones were moldy. The overall experience was good the cleaner, fresher aisles are nice.
I grew up in area and I loved the prices, but lately, I have found so much spoiled food and meats.
Awesome !!this supermarket is very big and have a lot to offer. And the prices there are not bad.
A great place to shop. Staff are very courteous and helpful.
Bad experience. Manager is incompetent
They have a lots of good deals!
