The White Rock Hills library is located near the intersection of Ferguson Road and N. Buckner Blvd. The library is not visible from the road and the signage, for me, is easy to miss. From Ferguson turn south onto either Beck Ave. or Hibiscus Dr. and you'll see a surprisingly large, low-slung building. It doesn't wave its hands and shout, "Over here!" to you. Partly because of the low height, partly because it's painted an off-white which surprisingly matches the color of the parking lot and sidewalk. The library is definitely big horizontally. So big the tubes of air conditioning ducts, lights, shelving, the tables and pattern on the carpet combine to create a study in one-point perspective. Running down the middle are four 5' x 8' desks/workstations with built in electrical outlets and a privacy screen dividing the table vertically. Each have four chairs but there's certainly room for more. Along two walls are half-sized versions of the workstations ("A quiet spot for reading, studying and working.") More chairs and tables, less formal, along another wall. There is a separate room for the computers. The library 'only' has 18 and there is certainly lots of breathing room left over in that area. The children's section isn't as physically separated from the rest of the library as is the current trend. In fact, in one large play/hang out/read section between the Children's and Young Adult books, I saw four different arrangements of chairs & tables, for four different sizes of kids. Kinda neat. The library boasts a slightly above average quantity of Adult fiction and nonfiction. Same can be said for their DVD, audio book and music CD collections. However, one of the things which really sets this library apart is their extraordinary visual presentation of the media available. I wasn't sure whether to give this library four or five stars. This really is one of those "you have to see it" places. But when I again saw the floor-to-ceiling chalk board/pillar (check it out!) I knew.
A long walk from parking lot to door. They should put up some covering over sidewalk to the door to protect against elements. After the long walk up the sidewalk I was relieved to open the door to what I thought would be fresh cool air but to my dismay...the A/C was not working in the main areas. Only two rooms had A/C. I rush to the other rooms to cool off and I find it's not much cooler then the main area but cooler. The two rooms that were cooler was poorly set up. When I get inside and look around it's like traveling back in time several decades. Very simple and limited resources. They have yet to discover USB charging technology where charging ports are on the table for both in wall jack and direct USB charging. All available charging ports are from the jacks on the wall, that I saw. Even though it was nice going back in time, I do not plan on visiting this library again.

Libraries are not the hushed sanctuaries featured in movies and tv...they are now community centers with books. This library in particular is loud because of its open layout and open ceiling. Nothing stops sound from bouncing from the childrens' section and computer section all over the small building. Acoustic tiles on the ceiling would help. So would more partitions around noisy zones. In the meanwhile, wear headphones if you want quiet. Or go to a larger library with multiple floors and quiet zones. It does have plenty of comfy chairs for easy reading and a good number of work tables.
Is it a library or junk yard. People talk all day on phone and loud. What is staff doing here. No support from staff. Rude and ignorant staff. What is government going in Texas. Where is our hard earned tax money used. Really really are we in USA or some third world country. Bring library culture back. All those 5 star reviews never went out of their pond so they don't know what is excellent customer service.
I like this library much more than the Skyline branch that I used to frequent. I especially love the large windows next to the little wooded area. The greenery really helps you to feel relaxed as you read/study. As the day progresses the noise level picks up. I've learned to bring my ear buds and listen to classic music or nature sounds. That REALLY helps drown out inconsiderate people.
It was great to return to the library. Everything was clean, they have the latest touch free technology and the librarians we trust and appreciate are there. They do want you to turn in materials outside, use hand sanitizer upon entering, and socially distance with masks, but that's ok. It doesn't take long to fill your arms with interesting and entertaining items
Our hard earned tax money is misused and abused. The manager and staff are horrible and does not care what u say. The place is filthy and no improvement since last some years. Restroom smells like u r in construction port a potty. If u inform the manager she will always ignore as if she never heard u. It is like a soccer field hell of a noise around u.
It's a typical oldish library. Nice, with wonderful people who are quick to help and I love the woodsy area in the back. With the large windows, it feels like l am reading in the woods. Bathrooms are well kept, and, no I don't have a relative or friend that works there and just felt like describing my 10 or so experiences at this library. :)
Visited this branch location after exploring White Rock Lake and love LOVE the awesome natural light. Kids reading area is great and I liked the creative setup with posters of blown up book covers on each row of shelves to highlight different books. Would love to live closer so this could be my home Branch.
People on cell phones all the time, kids running all over the place inside the library and outside in the parking lot, and the last time I was here was the best......SOMEONE TOOK A DUMP IN THE URINAL. Can't say I have ever been to a library quite like this. Luckily I am only in this area temporarily.
Its an ok library some of the staff are nice and helpful .some are lazy and not helpful and it is kind of loud in there at times i would not recommend this library if you need a quiet place to study on the plus side its a nicer / newer library it has a good selection on movies
It is a very dirty place and hopeless customer service from management. Too noisy and waste of time to go there. They made me feel as if they own the place and they can do what they want. No video or Dvd u can enjoy. The collection is like a personal collection quantity.
This library is pretty old. I took my kids here a couple times and they enjoyed their time here. They offer a lot of activities for the kids in the summer and spring. We signed up for a few events and love it. Would recommend it to anyone with kids.
Friendly, knowledgeable, professional staff who genuinely care about library users and go far beyond any reasonable expectations to involve all segments of the community. I’d write more paeans, but I want to get back to my reading. :)
Really nice place! The activities set up for children and adults are engaging and fun for the whole family. We had our family portraits done here. Loved meeting nice people. Both staff and patrons. Thank you! Keep up the great work!
I love the space. The workers are extremely happy to help you with anything. I would tell anyone to visit. Great atmosphere. U just need a bigger sign on the main road because its far from the entrance.
Clean and organized library. This was my first time to use a printer and a computer in a library and a nice lady named Sharon helped me alot.Thank you Sharon!!! Voula..from Greece
The facility is beautiful and the service is great. Very family oriented. It is the type of place that is great place to take the kids or just get yourself some "me" time!
Quiet environment and perfect for some studying. Plenty of tables to choose from. The large windows open up the space and allow for a nice view of the woods!
I love this libary everyone is so professional and available to assit me with my needs. This is also a wonderful libary to bring children. #beproductive
Lots of computers. Comfortable seating options. Great place for younger readers and a pretty outstanding selection of movies and TV shows on DVD.
Not a bad place considering its in the hood. People from the surrounding apartments send their kids here unsupervised. So it gets loud at times.
You call the library. The lazy librarian acts like she cannot hear you with b.s. and say "oh I'm sorry" then hangs up. I'm sure it's a joke.
Matthew was such a great help printing my shipping label for me. We need more kind people like him in the world willing to help. Thank you!
Its a wonderful place to take kids they have an anime section and also they have books in spanish if you need them I recommend it to you!
Each time I go to check out books the staff has been rude and unwelcoming. But besides that, the place is fine.
Very nice clerk hHORRIBLE INTERNET SERVICE. Slow computers. Just terrible and nerve wrecking.
Tucked into the woods with big windows make for pretty views. An asset to the neighborhood!
Awesome it has everything and it takes my time away from summer.plus its close to my house
It's great and it free unless you you miss a week and have to pay but it's the best.
