I walked in about an hour before closing time and there was plenty of seating available. My first impression was that this seemed like a good place to work given the copious amount of outlets available. I was honestly surprised by how spaced out all the furnishings were. Their long, worn wooden tables and benches could easily fit six people per side. Since it was so warm outside I ordered an Iced Mocha and thought it was pretty solid. Next time I'll probably try the Honey Cardamom Latte or Aztec Mocha. The only gripe I can think of is that WiFi is only free for the first hour. Whether or not this policy was set to generate extra income, disincentivize people from occupying tables all day, or something else entirely it definitely dissuaded me from staying very long this time. Maybe I'll come back next time with a textbook or drawing pad.

A long slow decline into mediocrity. What used to be peak Seattle coffee shop is now merely adequate. The old, classic full wood decor is great, but the counter is cheap and soulless. The back room, with a majority of the seating, seems permanently closed. They no longer bake on-site, and the food they have was gone by 11am. But worse than all that is the disappearance of the coffee culture. In the hour I spent there, not a single person ordered anything other than a drip or latte. No pour-overs, no French press, nothing that celebrates the coffee itself. The drip I got was fine... A step above Starbucks, but nothing to go out of my way for.

The best designer coffee in Seattle. The lattes are smooth, rich and no bitter aftertaste. The mocha has a homemade chocolate sauce made with real cream. Every sip can be cherished. There are also bakery items and sandwiches. The coffee shop is long shape. One half has the music playing but the other half is quiet with a gas fireplace. The shop is filled with natural light with windows the run the entire length of the store front. It is a place to read, study and meet with friends. Parking is primarily 2hrs but sometimes one can find a "no time limit" spot. I have traveled the East and West Coast and cannot find a smoother latte. Again the 5 is for the coffee!

Not impressed. Ordered a breakfast sandwich and after 10 minutes I asked where it was. They forgot about it and I watched the gal toss it on the panini grill to warm it up. The result was a cold sandwich with cold egg. She handed me the sandwich after I said thanks, didn't say anything back and had a straight face as if I was inconveniencing her to get my sandwich when they were busy. Besides that the bread was dry and falling apart. The breakfast sandwich overall was pretty tasteless You can see in the photo. Coffee was honestly just ok. It has a weird flavor to it that I wasn't fond of. Won't be back and can't recommend the place.

We were there waiting for a friend, we ordered coffee and ground beans. The coffee was excellent, and in a few days I'll find out how coffee from the beans taste. One comment about the atmosphere - it's an ideal place to work alone. That's to say it was pretty quiet when we were there, despite there being quite a few people busy on their laptops. So when our friend came in, our talking pretty much filled the place! Perhaps that's just the crowd that shows up in the morning?

Overall not a bad experience. The staff was very nice and I liked that the cafe was clean and had lots of seating. I ordered the honey cardamom latte and unfortunately it wasn’t that great. It was very bitter and I couldn’t taste any honey or cardamom flavor coming through. Plus, after a tip, I paid nearly $7 for a cup the size of a Starbucks short. The price unfortunately did not match the quality.

Great spot for getting work/studying done! The space has plenty of tables and seating, with lots of light pouring in. Coffee was good - unfortunately, the day we visited, they were severely short staffed and out of all food options. But the lone barista made us a nice cappuccino and mocha!

I've been here 3 times. The first time I got a London Fog w/soy milk, the two other times, I got soy, black & white hot chocolate with peppermint. All three times, I was greeted warmly, and best of all, my drinks have been made perfectly, and exactly how I ordered them! Not being a coffee drinker, this doesn't happen often. What a treat! Great employees, great service, and great hot drinks! Well done!

The u district location is large with plenty of room to study. The atmosphere is vibrant yet relaxing. An excellent study or meeting spot. The coffee was excellent as well. I got the atzec mocha which was a good balance of bitter and sweet. My husband got the lavender mocha, which had fresh flavors that were not overrpowering. The honey cardamom latte was wonderful too.

Kinda disappointed by the coffee. Wasnt bad but definitely wasnt good. Surprising to see a cafe using a baratza encore and a cheopo pouring kettle. Especially since they have a beautiful Kinu handgrinder on display. I would love to come back and have some really nice exciting pourovers but as of now, this aint it

I am giving five stars because the team member who is working today (4/19) at Zoka was killin it! From what I saw it’s just her taking orders, making coffee, heating up food. Today was packed and she was zipping to and from the register. Thank you for keeping your composure and serving the coffee with joy! The food and coffee was good too ☺️

This place is hopping and is very popular with the student crowd. Nice energy. Unfortunately the latte was not to my taste - bitter and acidic. If you like Stumptown style, this is your place. The chai latte was also too light and lacked the “chai” flavour. Also the “please” and “thank you” are checked at the door. So very unlike Seattle.

I'd like to live closer to this coffee house. The drip coffee was the most flavorsome, richest and perfect temp coffee I've had in a coffee shop for some time. The blueberry Muffin was also very tasty

When I was in high school 10+ years ago I used to come here and use your free internet, because of this I have a place to study and enjoy your great coffee, now 10+ years later, I’m happy that you are still here, so much good memories. I love the atmosphere and the coffee here, the server is super nice, highly recommended.

Loved their Mocha Coffee! Used to be a secret recipe from owner Jeff but sadly not available temporarily due to COVID. Hang tight and we’ll come back for it after COVID get contained! Still a great Mocha for breakfast or treat after morning exercise! Don’t miss it if you happen to be around! …

Very nice place! During these uncertain times , having a coffee place to go to and have a nice time is like having a jewel , right ?:) More about the stuff I ordered: Chai latte with lavender syrup was pretty strong but tasty. The berry danish was well done too:) Thus - 5 ⭐️ out of 5

  • Vivis S

I really liked lavender mocha and it came in a coffee cup (I miss these) instead of a disposable one. 4 out 5 because it was really, really, REALLY hard to find a place to sit and definitely there's room there if they put more chairs and rearrange everything. That place is packed with students!!!

We used to live steps away from this Zoka location and even though we moved 4 years ago, the staff remember our kids. The coffee is always expertly crafted and while the baked goods have changed over the years, we can always find a delicious pastry. They having seating for 8 indoors right now.

Went to Zoka for the first time in years — probably my first time back since university. Was incredibly disappointed in the coffee — bitter and burnt tasting espresso and the barista did a terrible job foaming the milk. It was like it came out a cheap machine. Was it always like this?

Not a big fan of Starbucks; so doing all I can to seek out local spot for that cuppa joe. Zoka is pretty decent. I like it enough to go back again.

Nice coffee shop with nice baristas. They offer free wifi for up to 3 hours daily which is kind (but also a little weird) so I usually don't end up studying here if I have an exam coming up.

The only place in the neighborhood that has multiple roasts on hand. Everyone else is just charcoal coffee. This is light roast. Barista was understaffed on Sunday AM

Consistently, not good coffee. Historically, over crowded and terrible parking. The espresso is over pulled and bitter. The milk is rarely steamed and stretched well. Better coffee at many other places for cheaper. Save your time and money.

  • Man Marcaida

this place is my alternate for library, the only difference is Zoka offers you a great selection of coffee and pastries. I always come here for their latte or cappuccino. arguably, they are one of the top best coffee shops in Seattle!

  • Tom Elwood

Always great. Baristas really take their job seriously, and the lattes are great. Unusual flavors like honey-cardamom and ginger mocha. If you go early the croissants are fresh out of the oven and delicious.

  • Mike

Rated it 5 stars before, now it's 2 stars. My Aztec Moca tasted like water, and no barista was at the counter for 10 minutes. In the past the service and drinks where good, but not on my last visit.

  • Sarah Nash

Great coffee, excellent service. Had the morning glory muffin, which was delicious. Nice space, there’s plenty of room to hang out and work, chat, or just hang out and read, which is what I did.

  • Daniella Melendez

Great latte and nice space to work! Pastries are outsourced would be my only negative.

I have had business and social meetings here for 10+ years. The coffee and people are great, and it has a mellow quiet vibe that is great for friendly quiet conversation or doom-scrolling.

Love this location and the staff. Always so friendly and patient. Excellent baristas and coffee. Good food. Great pastries. It's my go to near Seattle Children's Hospital.

  • Maddie Minogue

Interesting latte flavors, the seating felt slightly older and did not match the vibe of the place. They also have breakfast sandwiches, but we didn't have any.

  • Andrea H.

Their mochas are delicious. They have decaf espresso drinks which I enjoy in the Very popular place, when I went on a Saturday at 3pm all the seats were full.
