Cute cafe with cold staff and overpriced drinks. Literally, the only reason people would come here is for the gram as the cafe has a Japanese inspired minimal aesthetic. Drinks are overpriced in non-branded cups and taste like normal drinks you’d get at any other cafe. We had the soba cha and matcha latte and both were okay. I like my soba cha which was just buckwheat tea. The staff was what irked me. There’s a male and female who work behind the rykn counter and they don’t know how to be in the service/food industry. They were done if the most unwelcoming, disinterested and conceited people I’ve come across. The moment you walk up, their expression is enough to make those walk away. They share the space with another business and not sure if they are a permanent vendor but during the time we went in mid-Oct, there was a Japanese ice dessert business and although we didn’t purchase anything, the staff their sure had better service to their customers than at rykn. Went on a Sunday afternoon so the place was busy. Since it’s in the edge of the art district, surrounding areas can be sketchy and it was extremely loud with many motorcyclists being obnoxious on the road. Will not be returning and don’t recommend it to others.

Have to say I'm somewhat disappointed. It was a Saturday afternoon and quiet in the area. But still kind of hard to find parking since is street parking only. The interior is quite small and not so zen like all the videos I've seen on the Instagram. Guess it was a IG vs reality moment. The outdoor area wasn't opened either. I ordered the ujikintoki and the coconut matcha. For a $8 matcha I was early expecting much more. It was good, but also very small. I had uji match before at a lower price tag. What disappointed me the most was the coconut matcha. It was a coconut milk foam, which tasted oddly weird. It was sour like the milk went bad. My partner tried it and agreed with me too so it wasn't just me. I was afraid I would get an upset stomach since it tasted VERY abnormal so I told the barista and he said he would make me another drink. So I quickly chose the strawberry matcha which is a bit cheaper. I didn't read the description and didn't realize it was actually strawberry milk. Basically it tasted like binggrae artificial strawberry milk and matcha. Did not enjoy that at all. Overall nothing here makes me want to go back.

This place is very lovely, especially with the outdoor space's design and spacious interior, but I have to say something about the cold service we received. Their pastries all looked elegant and delicious, but had no labels or descriptions to tell you what they were. I asked the staff on register and he mumbled their names, with no additional details whatsoever as some sounded like unique goods. He was very cold, and when he got the item I picked, he placed it right in front of him instead of out towards me, so I had to awkwardly lean in and grab it from him. I believe he needed a pick-me-up or something to lighten up his customer service. There was one girl though working in the back half of the restaurant and coming in and out of the outdoor seating area. She smiled at us every time any of us made eye contact with us and was very welcoming, including letting me know where the bathroom was. The pastry was tasty. Maybe I'd come back to try the food, but there are so many other options in LA.
The space is really nicely decorated and peaceful. I ordered the black sesame cappuccino and red miso olive cake. The olive cake was delicious and I liked the subtle red miso flavor. However, I’m not sure if they made my drink wrong, but the cappuccino tasted bitter and acidic. I had to ask for sweetener and it still did not taste very good, so I didn’t end up finishing my drink. Perhaps the other coffee drinks are better?

Cute spot across Warner music records. Got the strawberry lychee matcha latte which was a new addition. The lychee was a bit much in the latte. but the space is open and nice. They have wifi. Street parking mainly. Will come back to try the other snacks and drinks!

Saw this place on Youtube from a vlogger I follow and decided to stop by one early evening because I love the aesthetics of modern Japanese minimalism. The place is beautifully designed, and I wish I stopped by earlier to see the light streaming through the windows and into the space, so plus points for the aesthetics. However, the drinks were small, kind of pricy, and not super great, so this might just be a one and done kind of place for us.
Great food and drinks! We ordered the dattan soba cha and the matcha yuzu lemonade and both were amazing. The space is beautiful and chill. Took us a little time to figure out the cafe and the restaurant belong to the same business but once we got into the indoor cafe area it immediately felt peaceful and welcoming. The barista was very kind and friendly!

I really appreciate the aesthetics of modern Japanese minimalism. Beautiful design esp with midday light seeping through the floor to ceiling windows. The sesame oat milk cappuccino had good flavor (slightly on the savory side, like most good sesame desserts), but the texture was too gritty for a beverage. Lots of sediment at the bottom which made for an interesting sand-like slurp.
I really love my drink and dessert. The space is peaceful!!!

We thought the menu was for all day but food is actually only offered during dinner hours. The rest of the day is drinks only. Great vibe. And surprisingly easy to park in the neighborhood.

I stopped by last week and the woman who helped me, I think her name was Mina? was an absolute delight. She answered all the questions I have and guided me towards a few different options that I loved. The food and drinks were great of course, but I’ll definitely be back almost entirely because of her great service.
Chill cafe for a morning or afternoon break alone or with friends, free parking across the street else it's valet. Tea is freshly made and has a full body taste.

I think you have to be a social media influencer to get your drinks poured in more Esthetically pleasing glassware. Imagine drinking ceremonial matcha from a paper cup.

This place is BEAUTIFUL. Coffee was great, nice outdoor space. Also lots of great street art in the area. Would have loved if the coffee wasn't served in plastic cups though.

With all the pictures I’ve seen of this placed, I expected a little more. The place was a little small. Some flies were flying around inside. Not particularly impressed
They definitely stand out among LA cafes in terms of spatial design. But i personally don’t like their latte and food is a bit expensive.. small toast for $16
rykn cafe is my go-to spot for excellent eats & drinks in a relaxing atmosphere. Enjoy!

Has excellent large rocks. They appear metamorphic at first glance but could use further inspection.
Unusually beautiful Japanese interior aesthetic and super fine pastry made here.
One of the most creative and delicious spots in LA
Beautiful place with good choice of drinks
Dope spot for fun drink combinations
nice space, nice tea, nice people
