BUSY ON WEEKENDS!!!! Went on a Saturday around noon and it was extremely packed, no parking spots available and inside was crowded. The mall is enormous and well organized. They have a huge selection of Asian produce vegetables teas etc. And their seafood and meat section is very clean doesn't smell like a seafood market. They have 5 stands in the food court section. The first is where they sell different types of corn dogs. The second is a bakery pastry shop (pricey). The third is a sushi bar. The fourth is a dumpling/congee stand. They make the dumplings handmade right there on the spot and you can watch them. The fifth spot is dim sum. I ordered from the dumplings shop. I ordered the three varieties which consist of pork shrimp and chive. They were good but all the flavor came from the oil chili that they placed on top of the dumplings. The actual pork and shrimp itself wasn't really flavored. Came out to $14 bucks for 12 dumplings in a box. You order on a touch screen device so you have the option of giving tip or not. Although the dumplings were good I would not order them again, my bf and I had a very nasty acidic burp after eating these, we were burping all day. The dumplings were very oily. He also ordered dim sum. It's pretty expensive about $5-8 for each little dish. We ordered the orange chicken feet in black bean sauce which was super delicious highly recommend!!! We also ordered the curry cuttlefish, very good would recommend! We also ordered the barbecue pork rice crepe which was just okay but I would not get it again. After dining it's nice to just go through the market and look around and shop. However the lines are extremely long probably due to it being on a weekend. I wish they had some self checkout lanes but they don't. Overall it's very nice and it's one of the largest Asian markets that I've seen and been too, I don't think Chinatown town has anything as big as this one, plus all their produce, veggies, meat and poultry look very fresh. I gave it four stars because I didn't like the long lines. It was a very long wait to check out. But I will definitely be coming back just probably not during a weekend.

I’m here to manifest something but first let me tell you a bit about this place. True the location looks an feels sketchy but nothing to be afraid of. A lot of parking available ( free ) they also have a gravel parking in case you come with a van or rv. As soon as you go in you got a restaurant, a cute cotton candy vending machine, a boba place and some clothing stores. Upstairs there’s the marketplace and the food court ( you gotta stop by the food court! Is a must!!! Trust me on this! There’s also a bakery ( grab that savory loaf ). The marketplace is huge. Since is a Chinese one the predominant products are Chinese of course, and quite a lot of Japanese ( sweets ) as well. The variety is huge, the have everything and the meat & fish departments are out of this world. Now the price point of view I’m delighted. H-Mart is crazy expensive comparing but also H-Mart has more Korean products rather than Chinese so is nice to experiment both. I spend quite a lot at 88 Marketplace and I was so surprised to see they have the Chinese Oreos here. The one parts that needs to be taking care of are the fruits and veggies. There’s not a big variety they have ( like other Asian markets ) but otherwise I found so many products I was desperate to find. They also have the Taro Binggrae Ice Cream ( I was looking for it for 2 years ) and they also have the dough for egg tarts. They also have a huge selection of drinks which made me really happy. I absolutely love this place and as for me manifesting something, I hope to see you guys bring the brand Do King ( tapioca pearls in cans ). I’m obsessed with them! I do recommend you to visit this place cuz is absolutely fantastic!

I came on a Saturday morning (10am) and sole purpose was to get a split hotpot pot, nothing more. The paved parking lot was full, but managed to find a stop. The layout of the building - simple - first floor is food retailers, second floor is the grocery store with restaurants in their "food court" I walked around and explored and found what I needed. I explored more and decided to come back on Sunday before heading back home to pick up some hotpot meats. Sunday around 11am - yeah, wasn't a wise decision. Paved parking lot full, people parking anywhere and everywhere they can, and the dirt parking lot was getting full as well. The place was jammed packed!!! No shopping carts, people lined up by the customer service area, blocking off the traffic. Do Asians have gene that tells them do stand in the middle of the aisle and block everyone? I just don't get this. Shopping carts all over the place, but no humans near by. I got the meats that I wanted, and then had to wait about 25 minutes to check out. When I left, they had dragon dance show in front of the entrance and yeah, that created huge bottle neck of human traffic! Moral of the story - don't come on a Sunday... maybe even on Saturday... if at all possible, visit during the weekdays. The exterior and surrounding area are still under construction, so it got some ways to go. Didn't interact with staff members other than cashiers - and if you are Asian, they will assume you speak Chinese :) Some of the items priced here were cheaper than say Hmart, but others were not. If you like the craziness and human traffic jam, come on a Sunday, otherwise yeah, avoid the weekend at all cost :)

Great spot for grabbing any type of Asian ingredients. The building where this grocery store is located is very nice and modern. The bathrooms are decently clean but not the cleanest. The restaurants are nice as most of them have a very convenient way of ordering but when it's busy, it's busy. We ordered our food but didn't get a text that it was ready until 10 minutes later. Thankfully, I checked with the food vendor and it was made before we got the text. We did not try the hot pot on the first floor but the restaurants on the top floor were great! The food from all of the places are excellent choices of Chinese food. Can't go wrong with any of them as they all looked and smelled delicious. The products in the grocery parts are all very well organized. The meats, veggies, seafood and other products looked fresh. You'll be able to find all sorts of Asian snacks, coffee, tea, candy and much more here. We didn't have any trouble finding the same snacks that we have at our local asian grocery store. The parking lot is packed but there is a second lot not too far from the building. We came here on a Sunday afternoon and the first parking lot was full. The surrounding area is a bit sketchy so remember to lock your door. Other than that, nothing happened to our car. Overall, an excellent Asian store with amazing Chinese foods available.

I suspected that I left my debit card at the bakery inside 88 marketplace called Bao Bae Bakery. I tried calling the bakery numerous times but they all went straight to voicemail. I had no choice but to call the customer service of the marketplace. The person on the other end was so rude, even after I’ve explained the situation (I live 4 hours away from Chicago so i’d like to make sure that my card is still there before I drive back). “Customer service” lady was very dismissive. All I asked was for her to check if they have my card and her reply was “WE’RE SO BUSY. WE’RE SO BUSY. THEY ARE DIFFERENT, THEY ARE NOT THE SAME” I took it as they’re a separate business entity, hence they WILL NOT help. FYI the customer service counter is literallyA FEW STEPS away from the bakery. Then she told me “ You call them” So I told her that I did, but couldn’t reach them , and after some begging on my part, she gave me the number of the owner of the bakery and immediately hung up. So I called the number up and guess what. Wrong number.

We decided to check out this market and heard great things about the food court. It was a Saturday afternoon and it was pretty busy so the parking lot was full and we had to park in the unpaved lot. No biggie. Anyhow we walk in and there is a smell of hot pot. Not bad. Then there was a huge escalator to the shopping market. We took the elevator bc we had a stroller. Wow. The market was pretty big and there were lots of food to buy. We decide to go to get some food at the food court and found the dim sum restaurant. They take both cash and credit card but will add 3% fee when using credit card. The food was pretty tasty and very home made. I would go again. We all enjoy the food. Next time we might try the other restaurants. The market was full of typical Asian foods so if you are looking for something Asian, it’s there. Overall a fun and good experience. I would recommend this place to anyone.

Aisles upon aisles of yummy snacks can be a blessing and a curse. Expect to add an hour if you are on snack hunt beyond the regular grocery shopping. The market has a huge frozen section for ready made dumpling, baos, ice cream, mozzarella dogs, mochi glutinous rice balls to name a few favs. The fish/meat counter has fresh cuts that you can pick and choose. The enormous selection of drinks includes old favs and new must trys. Traffic is horrendous unless you shop non-holiday weekdays during working hours for everyone else or resort to hitting the market weekends at about 8-9am. Note most of the in store food vendors don’t usually open until 10 ish with a couple (BBQ king, Dim Sum) offering limited menu at around 9am.

I’ll say 88 Marketplace is definitely the best Asian supermarket in the Chicago area and probably one of the top tier Asian supermarkets in the States! It offers a huge selection of authentic East and Southeast Asian merchandise of high quality, and their seafood section is excellent! You cannot miss this section where it sells live fish, lobsters and crabs (as a Chinese I seriously need these stuff). Also there are a number of good East Asian restaurants and boba tea shops in the same building so you can dine and go grocery shopping in one place! The transportation is quite convenient by the way, with one parking lot across the street and another lot by its side, so you can shop here rather often.

  • Patrick Ho

Great staff but even better food at the food court. Everyone here is very helpful, extremely polite, and efficient. You can find a lot of Asian cooking ingredients here that you usually can't find anywhere else. I know a lot of people say it's cheaper in Chinatown however you can't find nearly as much. For the extra diversity of ingredients, I'm willing to pay the little bit extra. Try the roasted duck for $9.99. Extremely cheap for what you get, fresh, delicious, and the lady at the counter is so nice that it'll probably make your day just talking to her. I highly recommend the char siu pork or the roasted duck. You can't go wrong with either one.

Busy on the weekends; it can be difficult to find parking in the parking lots. Once you're in, there's so much to see inside. After quick scans, I don't think there is anything vegan at the food court or in the bakery, but I wouldn't really expect there to be. This is a snack paradise with a wide assortment of vegan snacks, ramens, and drinks. In an aisle close to the registers, there are packaged soy meat sticks -- the joytofu brand is my fave. Lots of great affordable produce as well and I pick up a big bag of bok choy every time I'm here. Wish this was closer to me up in Gladstone Park, but it's absolutely worth the trek.

  • Nice Au

I need help getting something on top of the shelf. I asked 2 different people, 1 of them said it's not their department, the other 1 said he's about to go to lunch. None of them even want to get me someone else that can help. 1 of them even asks me to get the ladder to climb up to get it by myself. What if I fall down? What if I break other items? The employee here is a joke. I ended up going all the way to the customer service desk to ask for help. If you come here, be prepared to help yourself. This is a very upsetting experience.

This mall is cute. The 88 marketplace is inside Jefferson Square. It has much variety and it’s a huge place. The prices are fair but not cheapest. But the fact that you will find like 10 aisles of candy and chips and snacks is enough to come here. There are like 6 rows of just frozen dumplings. It’s on a second level after you go up an escalator. It has a seafood and meat section as well. If you want and need variety for pan Asian food you should come here. Free and massive parking lot which is hard to find in the city of Chicago.

  • jay mun

Stunning, definitely spacious (perhaps largest grocery in town). IKEA like escalator to get up and to move carts. Large free parking lot at front, stunning view to back of Chicago downtown sky line itself will attract many shoppers. Huge selection, fresh seafood and vegetable while having plenty of space to pull carts around without bumming into people was great! Bakery, yogurt and sushi station at food court wasn't open yet but will be great! It will be an experience to visit to shop!

  • Lexie King

This place is amazing. It carries very much the same things as the super hmart. The aisles are large with plenty of space to move around. I was really impressed with the amount of live animals they carried. We saw frogs, lobsters, fish, eels, clams and other things I don't remember. This is definitely the place to go. Don't forget to stop at the shops around the parameters for a quick lunch. Below is a steakhouse and an amazing hot pot restaurant.

  • Clinton Burgett

All of the small things a grocery store can do well are being done here. Spacious aisles, protection for glass jars after purchase, lots of great deals, and fresh food. The staff Is friendly and the selection is even better than comparable groceries such as fresh international market in schaumburg though the sheer size of 88 makes that possible. When the building is full of other restaurants and vendors it will be even better.

  • Krystal Liu

It’s Saturday night they close at 9:00pm. We arrived at 8:41pm, and they refused to let us in saying they are closing. I explained that I drove quite some time in the rain and I only want to buy this one bag of snack and I know where it is, it would take less than 5 minutes. They still refused to let me in. If you don’t open until 9, just update your hours. Your customer’s time is valuable too!!!!!

  • W Hui

Prob the nicest Asian grocery in the Chicagoland area. If you want Chinese groceries, this is the place to go. Decent items. Also good food court with bolo bao and Chinese BBQ. They also have sushi and pho places within their food court. Visited again on Jan 2022. Still great and have lots of hot pot ingredients available! Another visit on Apr 2022. Still consistent quality and I like their delis

  • Nata Bug

Really like this market. Much better than others that I’ve been to in the Midwest. It’s generally clean and well stocked. The bathroom is not the best though. The bakery outside is good too! The prices were decent but sometimes weee is cheaper so maybe they can have more discounts here and there. People are always friendly working there.

  • C Mc

I came to this supermarket for the first time. The place is super big. There are a lot of things. It's just a little messy. Seafood is very fresh and there are many kinds. The meat department is also very fresh. There are many convenient parking spaces. There are also many small snacks. It will be a good choice to be around here later.

  • Flan Flannagan

This place is awesome. Hot pot and boba next door. Free Parking available. So many gems if youre looking for merch as well. Make sure to block out a few hours if your time to make sure you can walk around the entire building (grocery, hotpot, etc). They have better prices than Hmart so get your essentials at 88 Marketplace at lease

  • Ritz Xu

Nice location, right next to Radius. It offers pretty comprehensive groceries including Asian food, snacks and cooking tools. Comparing with other Asian supermarket, it is pretty clean and has plenty of parking spots. You can also go there while waiting for Qiaolin hotpot. Also, plenty of restaurants on the second floor as well

  • Lambert Tooba

I love coming here, I always find what I need here. Prices are about the same I would say as opposed to other Asian grocers. I have yet to try their hot foods but whenever I do come here, which is often, I always see other patrons with hot food items. The soup seems to be popular. Service is always quick and friendly!

  • Des Sosa

This place is a hidden gem, there's so much food to try at the food shops and every Asian cooking ingredient and snack you could think of. They don't have as much trendy things as h-mart but it significantly more affordable. Bring your own grocery bag and make sure to grab a bubble tea on your way in , …

  • Bringyour Ownwallet

At first sight, there was a feeling of landing in another country. At the left of the main entrance is a very cultural Asian restaurant. History says see how many people in the restaurant will tell you how good the food is. The restaurant was full. However, I didn't see anyone waiting in line to be seated.

  • Joanna Evora

I came to this place to pick up some ingredients for Korean bbq. Found everything I needed and more. All the produce was fresh and ended up buying more than I expected. Lots of customer parking available. Really enjoyed this store. Everything is organized and there's tons of options.

  • Latrina Jansen

I walked around the store searching for what I needed. However, the guards shadowed me as if I were a criminal or thief. I am not implying that this is racist, but it was utterly humiliating. I wish they had a genuine motive to trail me other than just being a colored girl

  • Maricela Eshelman

Love it!! ❤️ Lots of choices for a bite to eat, great food market, sushi, Korean corn dogs, dumplings, bakery (mochinuts!!!), kids clothes, and other goodies, boba tea, etc. went with a family friends after a day out in the city and we absolutely enjoyed it. …

  • Orange Xeno

Location wise can be sketchy. Parking is no better. The building can be intimidating but once you walk in, its beautiful. The store fronts of hot pot and tea have a nice aesthetic vibe. Grocery part was amazing. So much produce and other food essentials was available.

  • david chen

The largest grocery store in the Chinatown area that has a food court and a hot pot restaurant downstairs. Soon in the basement there will be even more retailers and restaurants to open. Check out their live seafood and their hundreds of items of snacks and drinks.

  • Rachel Arias - Tripp III

Really large, Asian grocery store / food court with a BIG variety of products. I was a bit overwhelmed my first time in, but would definitely return. Parking is available, but can be a bit tricky because of the location and multiple businesses at the location.

  • Yesenia Gracia

We loved the place and definitely will be going back to look more at all they have to sell and to eat in. We were in a hurry, so we grabbed our things really quickly. We did order for take out. It was big on the inside and cleaned. They had so many things.

  • Ryan Kent

This place is great. The market has a huge selection of goods. That being said, I feel like there is still a ton of work that needs to be done to bring this place to its full potential. I think it will look very different a year or two from now. …

  • Gina Badagliacco

Nice selection of Asian products including some that I've never seen in Chicago. Big ample center. Plenty of space to social distance unlike some of the other Chinese grocery stores. Place is a bit hard to find if you're not familiar with the area.

  • Chase Yoder

The produce here is usually very good quality and fresh. Way better variety than a typical chain grocery store, especially for cooking asian dishes (duh). They also have a good variety of thinly-sliced meat. We usually use that for hot pot

  • Ray C

No alcohol for sale. A good mix of Asian groceries, mostly Chinese. Offer dim sum, ramen, Korean hot dog, and sushi for sit down dinning. The price is fair and comparable to H-Mart but not as organized and has the amount of varieties. I do

  • Tyler Blaz

88 marketplace always has a great variety of fresh fruits and vegetables, as well as fairly price meat and great other products. It would be nice if they had a larger tofu and fresh kimchi selection. The food court is also great.

This is a paradise to me. You can find almost anything here. I miss the lychee once sold here. Super good but they stop selling it this year. @owner, could you please bring back those high quality lychee …

Just found this place today and I was do happy to find this marketplace in between Chinatown and Bridgeport. They offer plenty of selections of Asian goodies. They have food court along the marketplace too.

  • Alex Yan

Good place for shopping north east asian food. Little pricy but you can get almost all kinds of food, however this spicy beef shank I got today seems expired and tastes very weird. Will not buy deli here

  • Kaiden Zhou

There is very good food by the food court. Also tested traditional Chinese food. Bake shop is a very good. There is hot pot here, too. You can get some snake after you eat. This is a large supermarket.

  • jiajun chen

I also like this small restaurant, their steamed Cheng Fens are the best in Chicago. And Yun tun soup is delicious as well. The neighbor restaurant also good, I like the beef sandwich and pho combo.

  • Laurencio Ronquillo
