Aldi’s on Phillips Highway vs. Walmart on Phillips Highway - Well, just finished my first shopping outing at Aldi’s on Phillips Highway, and all I can say is OMFrigging Gosh!!! I can honestly say that I've been a pretty loyal shopper of Walmart for, well, decades now (easily). However, lately at the Phillips Highway Walmart I've noticed that they have an unfortunate pattern of (ahem) “Errors” Where they charge me things on my receipt that I never put in my cart or walked out the store with. And my experience has found this occurring to me not once or twice, but on multiple occasions. Due to this continual pattern of (ahem) “Mistakes” I figured it might be time to give Aldi’s a look being as a good number of my friends have been raving about it, as of late. I can honestly say, I have nothing bad to report. The store wasn’t crowded. It was very clean and orderly. The lines weren’t long. The selection was better than I expected; and the prices??? Oh man the Prices!!! When I shop at Walmart, I easily spend between 85 and 100 dollars a visit on groceries. Today at Aldi’s they had everything I usually get at Walmart except one item (which I later picked up at Publix). I had my groceries rung up rather quickly, and the cashier said $48.80. I thought she had to be kidding, but she wasn’t. If it wouldn’t have been taken as inappropriate, id have given her a hug right there and then on the spot. If you’re like me and name brands aren’t a huge deal to you, and you’re trying to save money…Hey at least give the place a look, I think both your bank account, and your purse/wallet will thank you.
I've been looking forward to this Aldi since I first heard it was being built, and it is certainly a welcomed addition to this area, especially after the closing of Sav-a-Lot. Of course it's clean and organized, after all it's less than a week old, and the selection was about what I expected. The one and only problem I have is the location of the bike racks, which are entirely out of site on the back corner of the store. Given this town's terrible record of bike theft, I would like to see the rack moved to a location visible from inside the store. I noticed a number of locations they could be placed in site along the building, or a single parking spot could be refitted to accomodate a bike rack instead. Otherwise, nice store, and I'm glad to have it here.
Great prices and great staff! Everyone is always kind and helpful. Cashiers are fast which is really nice that you don't have to spend much time in the line like every other grocery store. The fruits and veggies are super fresh and well priced. Not to mention a huge variety. Number of choices can be tight with the dry goods, but I cook from scratch mostly so I'm ok with the Aldi brands. If you need everything to be a specific brand you may have a problem with some items, but they do have a lot of name brand items. You just may end up with an item or two that you need to grab elsewhere. They also have some great options for home good types items. I prefer to bring my own bags and pack my own groceries so it's perfect for me!
Very nice, brand new store. Just opened in the last couple weeks. Very clean with lots of room to move down aisles. Well stocked. Not very busy for a Sunday afternoon. If you are looking for a low budget alternative for your groceries, this is a good start. Stores are not very big so the selection is sparse. A lot of weird stocking choices. Kleenex with bedding. Fruits with spices. Everything opened straight from the stocking box here. ALL coolers are enclosed to ensure proper refrigeration Temps. A definite plus. If you are look for.specialty products and anything name brand, this is NOT the place to shop. All carts are locked and cost a quarter to unlock. You.get the quarter back upon putting your cart back.
Aldi's is my favorite discount store! My shopping bags are kept in the truck and quarters in the console for buggy deposit. With the price of food going up by the minute, I can stretch our budget here. There is also plenty of organic food for good prices. It is clean & usually well stocked. Many times empty boxes are on top in the produce, so I just remove the boxes and place them out of the way so other shoppers can use them. The cashiers are trained to be fast so at the checkout, I place heavy items first, then frozen and refrigerated, with light and breakable on top. Pay then move quickly to a space with a shelf for bagging your own groceries.
Just left store. The Item I came for is on isle that is CLOSED. Asked if they could retrieve since it was the only item I came for. (Was 1 foot in on bottom shelf) Manager said no. If I wante I could come back tomorrow at 8 am. She said it was dangerous. I then asked if they could at least block it completely since I had seen 2 others on the Isle, she said I needed to point them out so they couldn't get the items either! I've never experienced this and am at a loss as to why I should have to walk around the store to find two customers that may or may not have in her words "read the signs". I will not be returning.
Very clean. You need to bring your own bags but they do have boxes you can use if need be. Carts are 25cents you get back when you put them back. They provide hand sanitizer & wipes for cart handle. Mask required. Limited choices mostly generics but good quality. Meat is fairly decent price. A little lower than Walmart in cost for many items but limited choices being a smaller store. Staff are very helpful & pleasant. Not to crowded but you do have to follow hamster maze instructions on floor but over all great store. Produce is limited and hit or miss but they do have a bit of variety.
At this location, the entire store was clean. The aisles were in order, and their prices were reasonable. The one thing I'm not happy about is that there is only one riding cart for disabled people to use. Aldi should have at least 4 riding carts available in each Aldi Store location in Jacksonville FL. This is a problem for disabled people who don't have their own wheel chair or scooter to shop with and also for the elderly who can't walk as well or stand as long as others to do their shopping.
I really enjoyed buying at this Aldi's location. The place was clean and products were organized. They also had some good specials going on When I was done shopping and went to the cashier, there was only one cashier functioning, and the line was getting long. But, after just a few minutes they opened another cashier and things ran smoothly. It just took a few minutes to comply with a good customer service. Hopefully, they will keep on doing a good job for their customers.
The salmon being sold as fresh is rotten a lot of the time. It’s so gross. The store manager really didn’t give a damn when I drove back up there to tell them. She just kind of looked at me like I was dumb with a nice little smirk. The cashier did care and took some notes. The dates on the salmon were 3 and 4 days from the sell by date. Either Aldi is skimping on refrigeration or they are buying rotten product to begin with. Either way it’s gross.
I guess I am just spoiled! I am not used to having to pay for a cart. They are all locked up! Even though I get my money back. Having to find a box to put my groceries in or just carry them out in my hands for every one to see. And,, so many "off brand" items that I am not sure how it's going to taste. I was a little scared to buy them. This store reminds me of Save a lot and, I'm sure there are fans of both stores but this was not for me.
We love ALDI! Great place to go for basics/staples to save money without sacrificing quality. Most products are their own brand(s), but they do carry a selection mainstream "name brand" products. Great prices on organic items, plus a decent selection of them. Very important, as my household is vegetarian, and prefers certified organic everything. Anything I can't get here, I pick up at Trader Joe's and Whole Foods to round it all out!
Why does Aldi's keep using an over the top amount of TOXIC fabulouso like cleaner in their stores & floor cleaning machine??? I have reported to District Manager in Jax, that they over use of this toxic cleaner prevents my shopping with them as frequently as I need and one of my visits to their stores sent me to the ER with respiratory distress. They obviously don't take a very loyal long time customer's life seriously!
I had my first pickup order from Aldi at this store. Being the first time, I was unsure about parking and communicating. However the service was great! I enjoy shopping at Aldi. The prices are great. I can always find items that are unavailable at other stores. At Christmas, I love to get their German cookies and candies. This trip I found some lightly smoked salmon that tasted so good.
While I like the prices it doesn't have a friendly feel, I just saw a black worker for the first time since their opening and that was the first time I was treated with good Customer Service but the white workers talk to short when asking a question , sweep down aisles don't say excuse me , and when I asked where something was located it was pointed to ,get it together .
Very nice new location. They're missing a few staples like refried beans and parsley but I'm sure they'll get all the kinks worked out soon. Very good service and fast for an opening day. The shelves were well stocked. I'm happy to have another Aldi location here in Jax and will use this one for a backup of the Atlantic store. Great parking lot!
My overall experience was OK. I did not like that I would could not bag my groceries as I had them rung up. Also my cashier just threw my stuff in my cart damaging some produce and double charged me for an item. Upon returning home I could not find a phone number to call to have any of my grievances rectified. I very much felt like a number.
Brand new store with lots of goodies. A quarter gets your shopping cart. They carry wonderful lines of ready to eat salads and deli fixings, lots of kinds of breads, a line of cookies and snack foods, cleaning station so you can clean your cart, clean bathrooms and packaged fruit and vegetables. I've decided to make it my main grocer.
I'm kind of in the middle with this place. If I'm wanting 1 or 2 items that aren't like fresh produce or something I come here because they do have very good prices. If you're doing a regular grocery shop make sure you bring a quarter to get a buggy and bring shopping bags or you'll have to use boxes if any are available or buy bags.
I could not shop... They closed the store 30 minutes early. Their posted signs say they close at 9:00 and I was there at 8:35 and they were all closed up on a Monday night. There were two other groups of people trying to get in when I was. And another car pulling in as I was leaving. We could see somebody inside mopping.
I’m usually super lazy and shop by the Publix down the street, but omg is the extra 8 minute drive worth it to go to Aldi! I got double the amount of groceries for half the price of Publix. Produce looked good and I’m not a name brand shopper anyhow so this was definitely worth it. Bring your own bags though.
I went on march 21st in the afternoon and my experience was great until i got to the register and the employee on the second register from the door was throwing my food on the cart for no reason. If she was mad i dont know and i dont care, because it shouldnt reflect on her job.
As always, it is a great experience. The people are friendly, prices are better than other places and the Aldi "brands" are always a good value and quality. Do not expect to be pampered and treated like royalty, but they do treat you like a
Aldi, you have lost a long time customer. I have never been treated so poorly by store employees as I did in this store. This store has the worst customer service I have ever encountered. I can no longer support ANY of your stores.
Fantastic value, great deals. The only problem I had is they only one line open, I understand that's the norm to keep prices low, but there were 8 of us in line. Other than that, clean store, interesting products and great prices.
I enjoyed shopping at Aldi, most items are cheaper in price without giving up quality. Fresh fruits and meats. You bag your own groceries but you also have to do it at other stores, without a discount on the prices.
Great everyday prices on staples. The Clancy brand of snacks is very comparable to the name brands. I especially enjoy the Barbecue Potato Chips with no artificial ingredients and great flavor. 9.5 oz. Low price.
I really like this store. It was very clean and the aisles were wide. It wasn't too crowded. I'm not sure how to feel about the quarter for the buggy thing though. Number one loved it would definitely go back
Love shopping here prices are great, found everything I was shopping for, cashiers are very friendly nd no long wait in line. I recommend this Aldi 2 family & friends. Keep up the good work staff
It is clean. I HIGHLY recommend their spiral sliced ham with glaze. It is far better than Honeybaked. Leaner, not so salty and easy to prepare. The store has great prices on milk, eggs... Go take a look.
Clean store, fresh produce, and an ever changing selection of products. What's not to love? Well, other than loving an item that's only available for a week or two and never being able to find it again!
I love Aldi! I recently had to start eating gluten free and it's been overwhelming trying to shop but Aldi has a pretty good amount of gluten free products that made it easy to buy the things I needed
Prices are increasing too much and the quality is really poor. I liked Aldi time ago but right now I can't do my full shopping there anymore. I used to buy a bunch of items and now I buy only 3 or 4.
My go to Aldi's conveniently located on the corner Phillips highway and Emersonvery nice staff clean store international selection with great prices.look forward to my next shopping trip there. …
Cashier was a bit rude but I found a lot of good things. I would like if they would have another premade salad, other than Chef & they were missing the toffee bar flavor in the milk brand up top.
great prices here, i got everything i needed for my lunch plus a couple extra things all for $10! i love their ideas for the carts because i rarely ever see any left out in the parking lot.
1st time visiting, it was nice clean & organized.. items purchased were reasonably priced, note either have to take your own reusable bags or find a box or purchase their bags. Like Sam's
Welcome Aldi! I really like it. Everything looks perfect: the stuff, price, clear store, good product. If you can be bigger, with more space and products it gonna be better …
Walk into a clean environment. Fresh vegetables and fruit to your right and left. Friendly staff. Make sure you have a shopping list. Cause you can go crazy in the special ailes.
I am so very thankful these guys finally opened. What a change of pace for this corner. Broadening & bridging the gap of no grocery stores in the immediate lower income corridor.
I love aldi's food and prices I was excited that one opened near my home, However customers are running out of the store stealing merchandise, you should invest into security.
Walked in ask a meat person about some lamb chops and he ignored me went outside and had me standing there for about 15 minutes then I went out he was coming in with carts wow
This is my Jam I always go here for my in and out items vegetables up front salmon priced right. Blue berries and seasoning around the corner and I 'm out of there …
Good to great quality items at good prices. Nice layout. Would be 5 stars but the checkout staff is not friendly, acted as if it were a chore to do anything including breath.
Somethings easy to find some hard. Unknown brand names one can save a few bucks. A lot of parking . Staff friendly. You can walk out with more than you plan to purchase
I love this new aldi even the people that work there are friendly and helpful. The food is fresh and if you tell them there is a problem they fix it immediately.
Being our first time at this store and at this location i will recommend its very clean and the staff was very respectful and friendly we will continue to visit
Clean and friendly environment remember to bring your own bags/ boxesor you can purchase some from the register at checkout totally tough and reusable bags.
Crazy cart gestapo. No one wants to steal your rickety grocery carts. Who carries quarters around in 2022? Also all your produce rots within 48 hours.
What’s not to love about Aldi. We especially love their carb free/keto food. But our absolute favorite is the fresh Norwegian salmon. So delicious!!
Most affordable for quality food here. Bring a quarter for cart dep. Bags can be bought here or bring some - bag ur own here - keeps cost low …
Took my granddaughter in for the 1st time and she had me buying almost a cart full of groceries, we went down every aisle. Their prices are great.
I enjoy shopping at Aldi's they have a wonderful selection of organic foods they're also very competitive price-wise with Walmart and other stores
You fin most daily items there cheaper by at least a dollar or more than Other regular stores. Good quality product as well. Best market in Jax!
Love this place, not trying to be prejudice but I am from Germany and a American citizen now ,but I love me some Aldi which where Aldi is from
Always finding unique foods. Best place for cheese. They use European standards for their brand, which means no synthetic food dyes for kids.
This Aldi is awesome. Just don't forget to bring a quarter for a shopping cart, and your reusable shopping bags... you're gonna forget those.
I just love this store! Super fantastic cashier today and blackberries $1.50 cheaper than Walmart. One word to describe this store...funky.
Love this store and that there are more Aldi's in Jacksonville so they aren't so crowded. This is a great store in a really great location.
Great prices, good selections, different brands - just wish they had 2 registers open at all times. Grateful that it is close to my house.
I love this store. My wife does not. Very good prices on things. Mostly store brand/generic items, but good quality. Bring your own bags.
Prices, selection, and friendly staff were wonderful. However, I got home and opened the asparagus was bad. I plan to return it tomorrow.
Aldi is always a great experience, make sure you bring a quarter if you want to use a shopping cart, but don't worry, you'll get it back.
The new store on US1 is the best. Its bigger and better. Always sanitray and stocked. You can get in and out quick. Love shopping here
Excellent service. Awesome products due visit the isle of shame, which is chock full of. Kitchen products, decor, clothing, and more.
Love that they have curbside. The aldi near me doesn't have it. It helps me to save some money so I don't buy everything in sight.
Great location, well stocked, organized, clean and The meats , veggies and fruits are great. The store brands are worth trying
Always busy, but friendly, usually their products are available but lately having trouble finding produce available.
It's one of the newer stores, I like the way it's laid out very nice and clean. It's hard to beat all these prices
Update...give away your cart like charity. I love aldi I'm still waiting on my aldi brand slides. Size 13 please.
Fresh produce, excellent meats, great wide variety deli, dairy products are amazing and the price?! Wunderbar!!!
The food is always super fresh and the stores always immaculately clean. The prices are also highly reasonable.
Love this neighborhood Aldi!! Well stocked! Friendly staff! I never am disappointed when shopping this store!
There should be more cashiers. The lines can get pretty long. It's best to order ahead of time if you can.
not bad experience at all! Pretty good prices 4sho and nice clean store which is definitely a must for me!
Love coming here, always has what I need and always a quick trip. Wish they would fix up the carts though.
Very good Mediterranean Salmon. Also their Laundry Detergent Tandil is as good as Tide. Excellent prices
Love this place Love their fresh produce Love the options that they have to be such a small store
It's okay, the prices are right and it is convenient. But they are only good for certain foods
Aldi's are usually great and this one is no exception. The produce was above average for Aldi.
Fresh produce, meat, dairy and some merchandise surprises with easy layout for quick shopping.
Always love Aldi. Great prices and clean store. Even got baby girl a cute pair of shoes today!
Very nice, clean store usually well stocked and employees are very professional and helpful!
Some Workers are pretty rude and milk is Sometimes taste weird even the date isn't too old
They were busy restocking my favorite aisle. And not very busy so shopping was a breeze.
Awesome. Prices much lower than the other stores in the area. Milk 1/2 gallon $1.49 Wow.
Great having the neighborhood store with great prices, quality food, and helpful staff!
Prices have started to climb on most items, so it's not my go to for everything now.
Great for certain things. Very affordable. Awesome gluten free stuff! Still great!
Never disappointed with the selections, prices and (excellent) customer service!!
Fantastic! I've been hunting for Apple Cider Donuts and finally found them here!
Store was clean, product selection was nice will definitely shop here again
Cheapest groceries around but it needs a scrub in the front by the carts.
I've never actually shopped In the store but i hear lots of great things.
Store can use a bit more organization. We love it because of the prices.
Very efficient operation with great prices - neat shopping experience !
Great prices. Great choices. Just remember a quarter to unlock a buggy.
Great, clean, new ALDI. Tons of items we hadn't seen before. Go there!
Friendly and clean and positive vibes and cheaper than any other store
