Over priced. Way over priced. We have been using Abbey Animal Hospital for almost 10 years for our dog and cat, and more recently our rabbits. Our dog needed her teeth out, and we were quoted $3400. We didn’t like this price and went somewhere else that quoted us $800. The total at the other vet ended up being $880 including a pre-exam and post exam. I’m really disappointed that Abbey Animal Hospital felt the need to charge us that much. It made us feel like they cared more about money than the health of our dog. Price difference: $2520 Additionally, in summer 2020 I took my male rabbit to get neutered here. I was charged $450. When it was time to spay my female rabbit, they quoted me $680. I felt this was way too much, and I ended up taking my female rabbit to get spayed somewhere else, and the other vet charged me $250. I also got 2 other male rabbits neutered at my new vet for $200 each. Neuter Price difference: $250 Spay Price difference: $430 The vet care here is fine, but the prices are just ridiculous and unaffordable for many pet owners. I think it’s disappointing that this vet feels the need to charge people so much for basic medical care. We are happy with our new vet where we can receive great care and affordable/reasonable prices.
I been coming here the last few years for my dog Bo and just recently now for my new pup Levi. I now live over an hour away and still make the drive here as my experience here has always been good. When I picked up my new puppy he unfortunately came to me with 2 broken teeth and a fractured tail, I forgot to mention the teeth to my vet as I was very focused on his tail. I was a bit upset that during my new pups exam it was unnoticed that two of his teeth were broken. As we pay a lot for them to be checked nose to tail and they didn’t even notice it when I watched her check his mouth. I realized after I got home she never mentioned anything about his teeth, they did allow me to send photos afterwords and got back to me about his teeth which was nice. I also dropped off a fecal test and it was $127. Which is very expensive compared to most clinics and I called around and Abbey animal hospital is almost double unfortunately because of how much they are charging now I will be transferring over to a new vet. I would recommend this vet if your willing to spend a lot more money even double but otherwise it’s just to expensive compared to other vets.
Our 1 year old cat was spayed here. Quotes are generally provided to owners before surgery, I found it unusual that there was not one provided to us before hand. I was alarmed to see the $700 bill for a basic spay surgery for a younger cat. The cost to bring your animal here is astronomically higher than every other vet location. Additionally, when we went to pick up our cat from the surgery there was no cone or recovery suit put on her to prevent her from ripping out her stitches after spaying. When asked why they said "we didn't think she needed it". Our cat was licking at the incisions in her carrier, she absolutely needed it. FINALLY. There is black debris growing worst in our cats ear (ear infection). Brought this to the vets attention and asked what we should do. He looked at it and said they see nothing wrong. It's $107 for check-up/appointment which is way on the higher end. We're seeing a different vet now, one that is more attentive and responsible. I really am disappointed in this location and every experience has been subpar. I highly recommend looking into other vets and their costs.
I have been bringing my 3 dogs to this hospital for many years and moved 45 minutes away and still go back to this clinic. I am heavily involved in rescue and talk to hundreds of vets for month and believe me they are all not as accommodating as this clinic! ALL the doctors are compassionate, calm and genuinely love the dogs and cats they treat. I have received calls at home after hours, emails and supreme care. I cannot imagine taking my pets to any other clinic. They saved my Abbeys life, did not automatically go the possible surgery route with my other dog's leg - but waited to see if it healed on its own - which it did and that was 7 years ago! They can always fit me in and are super accommodating to my schedule! I recommend this clinic to anyone who wants vets that are knowledgeable, super loving and calm with your family members and take the TIME to explain all procedures and issues. Thank you Abbey Animal Hospital for all that you have done for my 3 fur-babies! Debbie and Paul Sheremeto
I've been looking for a good, caring vet for my cat for a VERY long time. Every vet I had met in the past seemed to have little to no care regarding very specific needs of my fur baby. Instead, they were always prescribing unnecessary tests all the time. Then my neighbor recommended Dr. Hobbs at the Abbey Animal Hospital. Ever since our first visit I felt the difference. Now I am so relieved and happy that my cat is in good, caring hands. Everyone in the hospital is very polite, caring and professional (from the receptionists on the phone to doctors). Dr. Hobson is our favorite! My cat is not scared of him at all. Recently were admitted by Dr. Rossborough and I was nervous at first, but his care and professionalism convinced me otherwise. They never recommend or perform any tests unless your pet REALLY needs it. They understand how much you care about animal and they care as much. Thank you Abbey Animal Hospital!
I can’t say enough good things about this Place. The receptionists the VT’s and the veterinarians are all compassionate, patient and skilled. Our spoiled grouchy extremely nervous 2 1/2 year old cat Echo was very ill and we were beside ourselves with worry. We called at opening time on a Monday morning and they said to bring him right in. Dr.Beck tended to him immediately. It was a worrisome and stressful week. Dr.Beck called us EVERY day that week to find out Echo’s progress. My son and I both felt that our little Echo was receiving care above and beyond what anyone would have expected.Dr.Beck was very informative and took time to insure that we understood everything he was saying. Echo is on the mend, less grouchy (lol) less nervous but extremely more spoiled. We will be eternally grateful to everyone at Abbey Animal Hospital.
Great veterinary clinic. I have been seeing Dr. Scott Hobson with my animals since I was 20 years old. I had the pleasure of seeing an associate veterinarian recently with one of my dogs and though hesitant at first, was quite pleased with the care and service. I should have known that only top notch veterinarians would be employed there as the standard of care is exceptional. The only one complaint I have is the cost but, that is across the board. All veterinary care is over priced so, if I am going to spend the money - I'd much rather have my fur babies see someone I trust to give the care and attention they deserve.
The vets are amazing here. I wanted a second opinion on my 14 and a half year old dog who was diagnosed with a form of cancer. They told me no , even though I bring my cat there they arent accepting new patients. Time is of the essence here and we are losing sleep worrying.I have been going there for years. I just wanted to make sure my dogs diagnosis was correct and that he isnt suffering. However they expect me to go to two different vets. Them for my cat and find another one for my dog. So needless to say I wont be back , and have to find a new Vet that will take both my pets, and maybe a working website.
We used to take our pets here, but about a decade ago they dropped our dog on his face, giving him a very bad concussion and breaking his front teeth. They blamed the dog, even though my husband saw it happen, and they never did anything to take responsibility. We continued there for a bit, but later when the same vet was on when we came in, our dog growled at her when he saw her. That was the only time in his life he ever growled at a person (he was a very mild mannered friendly collie). We switched vet clinics after that. A shame since it's within walking distance from our home and we have three pets.
We can't say enough about this clinic. We started going there with our first dog when it first opened. Geoff Beck and Scott Hobson gave Maggie exceptional care. After she passed Sarah Bishop was on the first time we took our second dog in. We also loved her caring thoughtful explanations on what to do when Kaleigh got sick. We have just lost our third Wheaton after 15 years. Sarah was as always ready to see her and helped us through this last difficult decision for her. We can't say enough about this wonderful hospital and staff and their caring and compassion for animals in their charge.
I just wanted to give a shout-out to Abbey Animal Hospital and Dr. Rossborough. The staff there are always so great, and were especially so during a very emotional and heartbreaking time when we had to put our cat down. Dr. Rossborough was patient, considerate, caring and thoughtful. He took the time to answer all my questions and my children’s questions and put their mind at ease. He gave them all the time they needed to say their goodbyes and was very thorough in explaining the process and great in easing their anxieties. He made a very difficult time so much easier for us all .
I have two dogs and have been a patient owner for more than five years. From the simplest matters of daily dog care to the more concerning health issues the team has been great. I have recently moved and found myself in need of a second opinion and without hesitation our Vet made herself available to see Molly. Helping me understand the situation with options on how to address it. In recent weeks I have reflected on my experience with Dr Bishop who is great and the services in general at Abbey. If you want good reliable knowledgeable hospital definitely check them out.
We've been going to this clinic with our 2 dogs since 2004. My wife's mother has been going over a decade before that. Dr. Geoff Beck has been part of our families life and helped us keep our dogs healthy and happy. Dr. Beck helped us through losing one of our family members and the staff was very compassionate and kind through our hard time. I drive an hour there and back just to keep going there with our dog because they are amazing. Thank you Abby Animal Hospital and Dr. Beck. You are great at what you do and your loyal customers and family appreciate your time.
We have been with Abbey Animal Hospital for an astonishing 17 years, they are wonderful! Dr Hobson went above and beyond for us, when late on a Sunday he opened up his surgery to treat our foolish dog that had eaten a deadly quantity of raisins. We have received the best of care from Abbey Animal , when we had a very ill older dog last year they kept in touch by phone to track his progress....he made it! I am never pushed into unnecessary treatments or tests. Best vet our family has ever found ,after we moved 90km away, we still came back to Abbey Animal Hospital.
Staff are polite and professional. Dr Beck is far and away the best vet I have encountered over my many years being a pet owner. He is honest, attentive, understanding and completely professional always keeping what is best for both the animals and the owners in mind. I would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone. Recently lost our loved one and he went above and beyond. I can’t thank him and his team enough for the way they handled the situation. If you’re looking for a good vet to take care of your loved ones, I’d give them/him a call.
Very thankful for Abbey Animal Hospital. My appointment was for a very very important RHDV vaccine which my own vet could not get me in for and so I scrambled to find the soonest appointment somewhere else and emailed Abbey Animal Hospital. Their receptionists responded and booked me in so quickly, and they were also lovely at the front desk when I went into the clinic. Dr. Rockx was very compassionate and knowledgeable with my rabbit. It was an overall great experience and I highly recommend them for any rabbit owners.
Unfortunately both of our dogs came down with cancer and we worked with Dr. Rossborough to treat the illness and eventually they both had to be put to sleep this year. I can't say enough good things about Dr. Rossborough and his team throughout the entire process. Dr. Rossborough was supportive and provided realistic options when it came to the care and treatment of our pets. It has definitely been a difficult year but we're appreciative that we had Dr. Rossborough and his team to support us through the process.
Having been clients of several vets and animals hospitals, my experience with Abbey Animal Hospital over the years has been nothing short of excellent. The care delivered by Dr. Bishop (our vet) is exceptional. She is knowledgeable, caring, honest and trustworthy -- most importantly, it is obvious that she really cares about what she does and the pets that she treats. The entire staff has always been attentive and helpful over the years and I often recommend Abbey Animal Hospital to my own clients and friends.
A great group of vets who apply their knowledge and skills with common sense in their practice. I had the great good fortune of dealing with Dr. Sarah Bishop as our primary, she walked us through all of the issues our poor puppy went through and helped us, with empathy and compassion, when we made the decision to not let her suffer any further. We have also dealt with Dr. Hobson, who also took a great deal of time to explain every option when she had torn her ACL. I HIGHLY recommend them to everyone I know.
I’ve been taking my fur family to Abbey Animal Hospital for 20+ years for a reason. The care and compassion of the staff are incredible. Dr Hobson goes far and above the call of duty and has been with us through some very difficult illnesses and end of life journeys. We recently adopted a new puppy, Max, after losing our two beloved dogs over 6 months ago and wouldn’t dream of taking him anywhere else! Dr Bishop is also incredibly compassionate and has been wonderful with our aging cat with thyroid issues.
I have been taking my big 20 lb fiesty cat to Abbey Animal Hospital for over 15 years. The staff are very professional but compassionate and caring. A big shout out to Dr. Rossborough. He's simply the best and my big fiesty cat behaves for him which speaks to his calm and caring demeanor. He gives good practical advice and does not do what's not necessary. Much appreciated. A big thank you to all the staff who have had to endure the Covid restrictions. It's been a tough year!!
Thank you Dr. Rockx. I had a rough few days worried sick about my Chynna and although 2 sets of Xrays, an ultrasound and positive blood panel, did not reveal the seriousness of the impaction in her stomach and intestines. Your unequivocal attention to detail and care for my dog, prevented a more serious condition and ultimately saved her life. Dr. Rockx worked tirelessly after hours Saturday and Sunday evenings providing post operative care and I cannot thank you enough.
We have relied on Abbey Animal Hospital for our yellow lab, cat and hedgehog for years. We have high expectations for veterinary services and they deliver. We like all of the vets and in particular our regular vet Dr. Sarah Bishop. She has the perfect balance of compassion, knowledge and professionalism and is a credit to her profession. The staff overall made great efforts to keep us informed and were comforting even in challenging times. We give them six stars ******!
When other vets seemed to want to just get money out of me needlessly, the ones at Abbey genuinely cared. They with worked me and my budget to give my animal the best care possible. When my cat was dying and euthanasia was inevitable, they were sensitive, tactful, and incredibly professional. They even sent a sympathy card after his passing, signed by all the staff. This is a top-notch animal hospital. Cannot say enough good things about them.
My dog got hit by a car yesterday, and my husband rushed him in. He was seen within seconds, a thorough examination was done (without extras, and we would have done anything and paid anything!) and we walked out with a (luckily) healthy dog and a hugely positive experience and a no nonsense bill. Dr. Rossborough is amazing. I have been taking my animals to him for almost three years. I highly recommend him and this clinic.
I am so happy that I found Dr. Sarah Bishop at Abbey Animal Hospital!! She is amazing and is a true partner in the health of my cat Zoë who has some ongoing health challenges. She listens to me, calms my worries and really explains things in a way that puts my mind at ease. AND she really knows her stuff. I am so grateful for all of the staff at Abbey Animal Hospital they are always kind, courteous and understanding.
The best Veterinary Clinic in town. An outstanding staff providing compassionate care for pets (and their owners)! Their advice seems to always be honest and insightful. Vet bills can get out of hand fast when your pet is sick or dying, but the staff seem to give you their best, honest opinion and give you a choice without making you feel guilt by not ordering all the available tests or x-rays.
Dr. Maggie Rockx definitely choose the right career! Her care and passion in treating my sister’s dog Chynna was nothing but amazing. She went over and above to save Chynna’s life. As I live in BC, I want to thank her for being there for my sister when I could not be. I would definitely recommend this office for the care and health of your fur babies. Thank you ❤️
This place is incredible! After moving to the area we were a little lost and a horrible hot spot prompted us to call. The love and knowledge that was thrown our way was amazing. Dr. Bishop is a wonderful person and an even better Vet. She is so knowledgeable and kind.... and completely judgment-free of crazy dog moms. Would give 100 stars if I could.
The staff here at Abbey Animal Hodptial are the best around. Lovely staff up front and we love our Vet Dr. Beck. He is always helpful and looking for all solutions to any problems that come up/may arise in our current dog, as well as created a kind and gentle enviorment for when we had to say goodbye to our older forever friend. Highly reccomend!
I've been taking my pets to Abbey Animal Hospital for 18 years. My family has been with the clinic even longer. My cat and dogs love Dr. Beck. He has always been great to our pets and our family. I recently moved a half hour away and will continue going to Abbey Animal Hospital. I couldn't imagine going anywhere else!
During covid they are not allowing owners to be with there pets. This is absurd obviously my pet has the same germs I do. My dog is sick and needs attention and they want me to drop him off like a car at service? When I expressed that I’m not ok with that the receptionist said we’ll cancel the appointment and hung up!
I am the third generation in my family to use Abbey Animal Hospital, more specifically Dr Hobson. Myself, my father, and my grandmother have never once been disappointed with the service provided here. I would highly recommend their services to anyone in need of a trustworthy, dependable, and caring team!
I had never seen a Doctor who refused to see a dog in pain. But had no problem giving all the medication and sending her for testing. My dog has anxiety, and his advice was to put her down. Luckily I could work with a trainer, and her problem was fixed with no medication or putting her down.
Dr. Rossborough helped my miniature dachshund so much with her teeth. This particular breed is prone to having dental issues...He extracted my dog's problematic teeth as well as expertly clean her good teeth so they look good as new. Knowledgeable and kind...I'm so glad he is our vet!
This team is exceptional. All the docs are fantastic and the staff is very thoughtful, caring and organized. The docs are so amazing here that we are considering enrolling our wild little children as "patients" here, classifying them as "donkeys". 5 stars to this well run office!
Dr. A. Rossborough's experience, skills and expertise give me a lot of peace of mind knowing that my dogs are truly in the best of care when I bring them here. This is best veterinarian clinic in GTA and I strongly recommended to anyone who loves their pets as much as I do.
Nothing but amazing reviews for this animal hospital. Always clean, and the staff are so willing to help. Called there when my cat was having major difficulty, and they were able to fit me right in. I now go there for all my animal care needs. Highly recommended!
Abbey animal hospital is great. They are very professional and love all pets that are brought in. Shout out to Dr Rockx and her ability to give my little chihuahua Cookie his needle and clip his claws even though he freaks at the mere sight of the needle!
The veterinarian that my pet has had here is quite good. However, the receptionist is quite rude and condescending. There are so many good veterinarians to go to in Oakville who have respectful support staff, that I recommend you take your pet elsewhere.
We’ve entrusted the care of our 3 loving dogs to Dr Hobson since 1997. We were saddened to hear that he was retiring ( but happy for him and wish him all the best). Our dog Oscar was ill so we saw Dr Rocks. She gave him Antibiotics. When
This was my first visit to Abbey Animal Hospital for my 5 yr. cat. I was very pleased with Vet and kind staff. Dr. Rossbourough was very helpful with tips and saving me and my cat from a vaccine that wasn't absolutely necessary.
I love Dr. Hobson. We switched over to this vet last year, as we had a bad experience with our last vet, and it has been a great experience. My mom has been taking her pets there for almost 30 years. Would highly recommend.
Dr. Scott Hobson is the best vet in Oakville! Unfortunately Dr Hobson has recently retired and Sold his stake in this wonderful business, but he's left it in very good hands with Dr Adam Rossborough and Dr Maggie Rock!
Dr. Beck is awesome. We have a Rottweiler, Husky and a 4 pound Chihuahua that we bring here. Very thorough and to the point and no extra b.s. I highly recommend him to my friends, co-workers and clients.
The very best in every possible way! Dr. Rossborough has been the very best for us and our dogs have felt so relaxed with him. The best. The very best staff and we have been dedicated for 17 years!
My dog is very comfortable with Dr. Beck who exudes calmness and caring. Front desk staff are efficient and friendly. An excellent vet service to consider if you are looking for a vet.
Went very expensive and just realized they are now part of that vetstrategy conglomerate so they have sold out. I will be looking for a new local vet that isn't part of this chain.
Dr. Hobson is an amazing doctor. I have been taking my cats to him for years and he is very patient and gentle, with my fur babies! I highly recommend Abbey Animal Hospital!
Outstanding team of vets and staff. You can always count on Dr. Rossborough to treat your pet with the utmost compassion, care and professionalism. Highly recommendable.
Caring and professional doctors! My dog and pet rat receive the highest level of care at Abbey Animal Hospital. Dr. Sarah Bishop has been fantastic.
Dr Rockx is the best! Saw our boy Murphy who was really sick. After a visit and some meds he seems to be bouncing back to normal! Thanks Dr Rockx!
Best animal hospital around. Dr Scott Dobson is a caring and compassionate man. So glad to have him care for my pets for at least 20 years.
Very attentive staff. All the vets are very kind and compassionate. I highly recommend this animal clinic and hospital for your fur babies
I want to give Dr. Maggie Rockx a huge shoutout. Dr. Rockx was our primary veterienary for our rescue dog, Ladybug. Ladybug was a
Been a client for more than 20 years. Service for cats and dogs has always been fabulous. Dr. Beck is absolutely first class.
Everyone at Abbey Animal Hospital is so dedicated to their little pet patients. Our little puppy is in good hands here.
They were able to quickly see my baby Sadi and Dr Rossborough was great with her. Love these guys.
Wonderful and friendly staff! Always love bringing my bunnies here to be vaccinated.
Wonderful caring staff.. the vets and the admin.
