Edit: as of July 24, I have received another customer satisfaction email from Access. That makes it the third one this week. Removed one star from review. I have not rented from them in five years, and I never gave them permission to contact me via email. Original review: This review is for my one and only storage rental experience at Access, which took place during May - August, 2013. Reason for reviewing an experience from five years ago: on July 22/23, 2018, I received an email from the company's marketing coordinator (Sophia), asking me for feedback about my experience, if I would recommend Access to others, and a Google review. Nothing remarkable stands out in my memory about my experience, positive nor negative. The storage unit was exactly as described in my contract, and there were no hidden fees. You get what you pay for, nothing more and nothing less. The only interaction I had with staff were a single phone call and picking up / dropping off the keys, so I cannot rate their customer service from that time. Please keep in mind that this is from literally five years ago, and it is more than likely that many things at Access have changed in that time. I am slightly uncomfortable that I was contacted about a singular experience from five years ago, from a company that I never authorized to contact me by email. Imagine if in 2018 Apple started contacting everyone who purchased the iPhone 5 when it first came out. This also means that my information was kept on file for five consecutive years, and then used without my consent. It's definitely important and proper for businesses to connect with their clients, but it might be good to set some limits.

If I could give zero I would We came to access storage in February to store our belongings for just barely a month. My husband called ahead to ensure a tractor trailer could fit in the lot. They lied sold us a unit and when we arrived our moving company could not get in. We were then sent to another location in a panic as we booked this almost a month in advance . At time of I explained to the people at desk my whole life was in this unit. They assured me it was dry and offered me insurance and I bought $50000 coverage. Today we showed up to pick up our belongings. There is 2 inches of water in my unit. My whole life is ruined. The insurance won’t cover water damage apparently. Something the agent didn’t explain even when I voiced my concerns . I was assured everything would be dry. The office closed and they locked us in and just left us to figure to out with the promise of a moving company coming to move our saturated belongings to our brand new home. My small kids have no where to sleep tonight. Your management has left us here to figure this out alone. To wait for a moving company for as little as two hours with two small kids in my truck. No dinner. All their things are ruined. And we are pretty much being told to bad..... I’m appalled. And completely distraught. My family has lost everything.

I started out when they were Gladwin Storage and had excellent service. There have been a lot of changes with the change over to Access and not all of those changes have been positive for me. They are a typical big corporation with a lot of people who do not care about the ‘person’ they are dealing with... to them, you are an account number. That being said, Franco and Juan are the nicest guys and it’s a shame they lost Juan. They better not lose Franco!! He’s thoughtful, kind and is thorough... I realize you are a big Corp, but losing customers will make you a smaller corporation... remember that. (Oh, and there are couple of the ladies on the phone/email that have been pleasant and responsive too). Be aware, it’s not a monthly rent!! They charge you every 4 weeks unlike monthly rentals so the rent doesn’t come out on a specific date in the month ( like ever 24th - it would be like every 4th Wednesday). That was a shock to me! The units are what they are. Outdoor, so be aware there is no climate control but I think things are safe there. I’ve been storing at Gladwin for a number of years and I’m not aware of any safety issues. Franco, thanks for being such a great person, I hope Access values you.

My wife and I had been looking all over Ottawa for an affordable self-storage facility because we were getting ready to sell our 3 bedroom townhouse near Bank and Hunt Club and needed to renovate the main level. We needed to move a lot of our furniture out for about 4 months and found Gladwin Self Storage. Norm and Lorraine were always friendly and helpful, the grounds were always clean, and we had access to our unit 24 hours a day and Gladwin was the most affordable storage facility out there. We rented a cargo van and loaded it with the big items (chesterfield, loveseat, dining room table and chairs) and we packed our Dodge Caravan full of the smaller items and drove it right to our unit for easy unload. I was surprised at how much the storage unit actually fit. Our renovations took a lot longer than we expected but they were very accommodating of us. We highly recommend Gladwin Self Storage if you need affordable self-storage in a convenient location and friendly service.

I would like to praise the manager at Access Storage, Giovanna. This is my first experience with using storage units. From the first time I met Giovanna, she was very welcoming and absolutely patient with my never ending questions. She walked with me to check each unit so I feel comfortable which size I need to rent. When I showed interest in booking a unit, there were no availabilities. Giovanna promised me to call immediately once there is an availability and she did exactly that. I am very grateful for all the support and kindness she gave me. Think twice before renting this place. They were charging me $185.00 for a 10'x10' locker. Guys, how can you pay this amount for a place which has no climate control and snow not cleared during winter. You add few more $$ and you can rent similar size locker within miles at the State of the art DYMON warehouse at Walkley/Heron. I'm not an agent or employee of DYMON but what I can tell you that the world of convenience here. Snow/storm-you feel nothing. Even their washrooms are as clean as 5 star hotel. Access storage will charge you insurance (It was $12.00+ for me) while DYMON rent covers your insurance. No extra charges.

I have been looking around different storage solutions for my car and came across Gladwin and with no further thought I decided this is my choice .The GM is excellent .He has been very helpful in showing me the space and even helping in finding the best spot for you.After visiting the place I made my decision final that Gladwin is my storage solution. Even before storing my car I am very confident that this will be a good experience fro me .Appreciate the service they provide .

Friendly and decent prices compared to competitors but misleading on the phone about insurance policies. This created a ton of confusion on the day we were to access our unit and then we were unable to reach anybody by phone. After having already paid their initial fee at this point I reluctantly caved and got their protection plan. Probably a good service if you're used to storage units, however first timers should probably find an option with more support.

I really don't understand the bad reviews about this place. I needed a 5×15 and most of them were booked and the employee there always kept tabs on me and let me know when a new spot became available. I even moved out 1 month early because I didn't remember that I booked another month and i got it refunded with no problem. Their prices are unbeatable and its really easy to access ( no pun intended). The bad reviews are just people who are bad at life.

Never had a problem with renting with Access Storage Ottawa-St. Laurent before. The staff are professional and I would highly recommend anyone with storage needs or with parking needs to go and visit them. Disappointed with the service today. I’ve used access storage many many times in the past but today was different... I was the only person there and it took over 30 minutes to sign the contract. When I asked if we could start unloading while they were getting the paperwork ready they said no (which I have done before at multiple facilities including access). Disclaimer: employees were very respectful and professional.

Terrible customer service they raise your rates on you every 3 to 6 months, they lock you out of your locker by mistake, they cancel your access to the gate. Responses from the owner are so arbitrary and don't deny any allegations of rates being raised every 3 to 6 months. There are many other storage facilities that don't take advantage of their clients and have more respect for them. I suggest looking elsewhere.

I had one of the worst experience my whole life with this company. Specially the manager of this location. I called them like probably 10 times with the worst customer service ever. The manager was screaming on me She have no idea about management and how to respect customers if they have an issue I will let everybody know about this location I’m not gonna do any business with this company anymore.

Updated: After moving all of my items in, I discovered that the latch on my unit would not secure the door when locked. The staff offered me a new unit, but it took several hours to move all my items over. The second unit had a newer latch that was nice and secure. After a few attempts to connect, the regional manager contacted me to offer reparations for the bad experience, which was appreciated.

Changed my rating upset that I have to pay more when I made it very clear how long I would need storage for especially when she made me pay the whole amount upfront over the phone. I asked if this was for the whole time period she stated yes. Now I get surprised with additional charges, which is more than what I had paid. I literally could of went somewhere for a better price.

I suppose the storage unit was fine but I really had an issue with the method of invoicing. It rotates every 4 weeks and as such, I could not pay on the same date every month (which would be easier to manage) because the deadline would constantly change. In addition, my fees went up without notice. Ultimately, it became to expensive to maintain given the current economy

Facilities are well maintained... Pretty well organized. They are alot of cameras on the premises, although it doesn't stop vandalism.. no washroom on the premises so if you're going to spend some time there, make sure you take a stop at the Mc Donald's around the corner. They are hiding next to the museum and a government building so it's not known by too many ppl.

This site was helpful all the way. I had no problem in renting my own storage shed not thanks to the staff at this site. You guys are the best. Thank you for taking time to help me in my situation of moving. Your staff took the stress away. Thank you so so much and I promise to promote your office at the Garwin street location off St. Laurent.

Rented a unit here for a few months. I liked that I could have access to my things when I needed to. I liked that service was friendly and they kept me updated about everything that was going on, what to bring in, and how long I would be in the office for. I felt like it was an honest place of business. Thanks for everything!

amazing way above and beyond the call of duty. they were willing to try and get me after hours access just to help me out in an emergency, brought me water bottles when they noticed i was dying in the heat, recommended movers for my way out, the list goes on and on. all this and the price is right :)

Access storage is number 1 place to be the Manger Grainne and Lori are the best they are so friendly, welcoming and helpful they make things very easy and simple for you to make sure your satisfied and happy. If you guys are looking for a storage place I recommend you to check it out here first.

The storage location on Gladwinn is very accessible and the premises are tiday. I rented a space for the equivalent of a container and it was clean when I first arrived (but not temperature controlled). The team at the location is very helpful and accommodating. I would rent from here again.

I've been repeat customer of Access Storage for several years. Started using them when it was called Gladwin Self Storage. I use it to store my construction related tools and materials for about 9 months of each year. Works great for me as I can backup right to the unit door to load/unload.

Had exceptional service from Jessica, promptly replied to all of my questions and addressed my concerns promptly! Storage facility is as expected, easy secured access in and out. Will definitely use them again in the future. Hope they can also add heated storage units in the future.

Looks to me very easy, but also very secured way to use the facility. The ability to park the Cargo Van just by the storage unit, significantly makes it efficient to quickly load/unload stuff. The explanation got from the office were simple and clear. Overall, fantastic experience,

PUPS- Reservation center called to transfer one of your clients over. Male answered the phone and says- :"Access Storage- Gladwin. Please hold". Seriously !!! I have a client of yours on hold and now I'm on hold for over 5 minutes? Customer Service should be brushed up @ this time.

Lori saved my arse after the original place I was set up to park my trailer at cancelled last minute. She did it literally within the last half hour before she closed her office and was patient with me. good staff, the only issue holding it from a 5 star is the pricing.

I was in need of a storage unit last minute and was helped by a young man named Braedon. He was really patient and gave me suggestions on what size unit I needed. Very friendly staff and their units and area meet the cleanliness. I will be renting again with them. :)

Company false advertises they have tires listed for sale for 1$ and when I said I would buy multiple sets the price was 500 or more per set. Not cool. I have contacted a false advertisement lawyer and filed a formal complaint with bbb and competition bureau.

Very friendly staff, clean and secure. The gate is taking a bit to much time to close after you cross it. I rented a 5' x 10' but after measuring it myself, it's 5' x 9' , a foot is a foot so it's 5 square feet less. I guess not too many people check that.

I used access storage for two months and was very happy with the service I received. Great customer service. My only suggestion is don’t leave any food items in boxes as there is a possibility of mice! I would recommend this access storage location

Prices are reasonable however Ive been there for many years and services deteriorate while prices go up. Used to have personnel on site (that went away), used to be 24/7 accessible (now only accessible between 0500 - 2300hrs).

I had a very good experience when registering for a locker at the Parisien Road storage site. Sarah, the manager, is to be highly commended for her integrity and help during the process. A welcome change in these dark times.

I liked the place, it was pretty simple and cheap. I enjoyed the direct drive to my storage… until my unit got broken into. I still don’t know what happened but I immediately took my business elsewhere.

Reception was superb. But I did have some issues with the door. Some damage was done to the door. It was difficult to open and close the door. And the repairs were done very rapidly and I do thank you.

Always friendly service. Good price with 24/7 code access. Units are outdoors, but I've never had any damage occur while storing, and have taken minimal precautions against it (mostly none at all).

A little on the pricey side, but someone texted me to tell me that my locker was improperly locked. They may have saved me from losing everything I had stored! Thanks, that was a kind thing to do.
