Rented from this location as a Uber Rental. Should have cancelled when email confirmation from Avis provided wrong location and phone number for the rental. (Austin has only one location for Uber Rentals). Couldn’t believe all the dents. This 2019 Nissan Sentra had over 50,000 miles and it showed. The dash was reporting it was 2.500 miles past due for an oil change. Brakes didn’t seem to work too well and made noise - after going down a steep hill and brakes barely stopping car I checked brake fluid and reservoir was empty so I had to purchase brake fluid. When adding brake fluid I checked oil - it needs to be changed. The engine compartment was filthy and the battery terminals were all corroded. The car had out of state plates and wasn’t even put in the system for use in Austin, went nearly 60 hours (2 1/2 days of car being unable to be used on Uber and neither local Avis, Avis toll free customer service or Uber wanted to provide ANY compensation. I had asked for rental to be extended at least two days at no charge and answer was no. The gas gauge is off too so got hit with $40 for about 2 gallons of gas. I do not recommend Avis for Uber to anyone.
Cancelled my reservation and told me it's not their fault. I made a reservation online weeks ago and last minute decided to add one more day to my reservation and get the car earlier. When I took an Uber to pick up my car, they said sorry, we have no car for you and we cancelled your reservation. I was like oh no, but what about my original reservation that I made weeks ago? They said we cancelled your ENTIRE reservation so you have no car. The lady at the reception was entirely unsympathetic and unhelpful. And what was I supposed to do with the rest of my trip? Why was I allowed to change my reservation online if there's no cars? Sorry, not our fault, it's corporate. We're independently owned and operated. Lesson: do not book your car from this location. Get it from the airport to be safe since they're likely to have more cars and you might get some professional and helpful service if you're lucky.
Heed the low star warnings, this place is terrible. They indeed have a sign right at the front counter offering $10 for 5 star reviews....fair warning that the 5 stars are probably not true. The ladies there are unprofessional and rude. I walked in and had to wait for the two ladies behind the counter to finish their conversation (while looking at their phones) before they even asked if I made a reservation. Neither even looked at me, so unprofessional and so unfriendly. The older lady snuck in extra charges, she added more coverage charges I did not request initially since my cc covered it, when I asked to see where I authorized it, she said it's too late and I'd have to take it up upon returning the vehicle. Best believe I am taking it up with Avis. I even called Avis right outside their door for assistance and they would not help me. I'll be going to other rental companies from now on.
Very poor service. Made a reservation for 10 days for 12 passenger ford transit 2 months in advance thru Expedia. Called one day earlier to reconfirm and was told it was available. Upon arriving and requesting the vehicle was told that all their Ford transits were on recall and being repaired and that they were all sold out at their other locations. I believe it just a lame excuse to not honor the good price I was offered.Also that they didn’t have my phone number and email to let me know this issue. I called budget in Houston but was given a price 2.5 higher. Spoke to 3 agents and none could help out. Decided to call Enterprise and the first call I made was able to get a van and a better price than what budget offered me at the beginning. Also I don’t need your apologies that’s not how service should be done and I don’t need your customer service number because it’s no good.
The Mini van was not properly maintain, after leaving the Avis center and on my way to my trip I realized that the brakes were not working very good. I stop in a service plaza and I open the hood I realized that the car did not have brake fluid, anti-freeze, and power steering fluid. I purchase what it was needed because it is a safety issue for me and my family. I mention this to the clerk when returning the vehicle, he acted as he looked surprise. The clerk mention to me that I could have stop in any Avis place to replace the car, I mention that I was in the middle of the highway traveling north of Texas and their was no Avis near, also I will not risk the safety of my family continuing this way. As a Avis customer for many years I have never experience anything like this, I will recommend an audit on this place before anything serious happen.
Nothing like being canceled without recourse. Reserved a van paid in full ahead of time. What happens day of I get a call sorry we don't have your car and can’t give you anything because everything is taken. Call corporate customer service we cant help click. 3 calls later I get a refund, mind you when you pay in advance they charge you a $50 fee if you cancel at any time and you can’t transfer your payment against a new reservation. Avis has a wonderful system no? They offered a cupon for my aggravation, wow that was nice. Yeah no cars available in 50 mile radius that weekend. Btw this was this past 3/24-3/28 2022 weekend, on Nascar race weekend. Well this is how I discovered Turo, got a better car for about the same better price. So guess what’s happening next time. Everything was fine until I returned the car and I notice that different customers received special treatment no questions asked. When I came in the rep immediately ask for the keys to check out the car and gas. Then after that a man came in and gave him the keys the rep says thank you and the customer says to him by the way it has a full tank of gas...not to mention I was told that it would have cost me extra to change make any type of change to my reservation. Only to witness a man that came in with a lengthy story to get his reservation changed without out charge the customer seemed like he was expecting some kind of push back... but just got ok sir it's done... I think if you are going to do for one person every should be treated the same...The car was nice and clean thats plus...
Rented an SUV from this location for $450 & on the day to pick it up, they had nothing near an SUV, so they offered me a mini-van & I said no. They said I could pick up an available SUV at the airport, so I said ok. Went to airport & got charged $200 more in taxes. $650 total & when I returned, I mentioned it & a guy said he would fix it. I had it an extra day, so they charged me $159 for 1 day. Do NOT keep it an extra day! He said he would work on getting it all down, but never did. They charged me about $300 extra on top of my original rental price. DO NOT RENT FROM AVIS!!! NOTE: I RETURNED THE VEHICLE ON MONDAY 3-25-2019 FOR REFERENCE IN CASE THE OWNER READS THEIR REVIEWS. My experience was horrible. After supposedly completing the preferred aspect of everything over the phone, I get there and the Hispanic man who was working the front desk was over the top RUDE! Whatever he was working on when I arrived, he proceeded to work on, while I was standing there. He decided it was way more important!! He went to the back and started taking to me from the back, instead of being in the front, and there were other potential customers who was talking, so I couldn't hear him, and I made him aware of it. After giving him the necessary information, which I was told I would need, he still stated that I needed to go online or call them, to finish the process. A very unpleasant experience!
Fantastic Experience! I picked up a vehicle on a Sunday and called 4 weeks ahead to make a reservation. The smooth nature of the dealing and NO UPSELLING Insurance and other services was great. So simple and easy dealing with the representative at the office too. I picked up the vehicle at 9am on Sunday Feb 9th. The representative was very attentive and easy going. I also liked the fact that amidst helping me get my car - there was a walk-in to the office by a person that was lot and needed help with directions. The attendant helped him as well and showed a great helpful nature. If I'm back to Austin I will definitely rent from here! Car was in mint condition as well.
Very rude and unprofessional every time I visit this particular location. It’s always one particular staff member that talks to customers any kind of way and it will be my last time renting with this company. Every time I ask before given a vehicle when was the last time the vehicle had an inspection done or oil change the response is “we don’t know”. Told me to go get the oil changed myself and the car was filthy and dirty inside from the previous user. Very unprofessional and a bad experience. Do not recommend!! I will be going back to hertz where the customer service was more professional or a different Avis location.
Got the car smelled like urine and smoke inside, the car had a service now take to the dealership alert when you turn the car on. I asked the agent why it was on she said they must have forgotten to reset the car when it was last serviced! I was quoted $352 plus tax which was $452 for the rental with a $250 hold which should have been $702 so why was $752 held from my account. Tried to call and inquire I held on the phone for 30 min only to be hung up on. Sooo frustrating! My first and last time renting from Avis . Do better in trying to give adequate customer service.
This place is mad unprofessional dirty interior, the girl there, she only sits there, and they literally wrote the book on unprofessionalism. They gave the reserved vehicle my friend and his gf had, to someone (we were suppose to arrive by 12:30pm, arrived at 12:27pm)and would not accommodate us with “someone else’s” GMC Yukon rental. My friend spent 45 minutes on the phone with reservations and customer service. This is the 2nd location that has been this way. The one in McAllenby McAllen airport)was way worse than this. Good lick to anyone renting from this company.
Update: 3 stars. Avis reached out and assisted in this situation. They explained any and all discrepancies and more of their company policies rather than rushing me out the door. I appreciate the follow up and give Avis 5 stars for customer service. Still, I will not rent from this location again. Original: 1 star. I was charged a gas fee when the return receipt listed the vehicle returned as "full." This place is very unprofessional and shady. Dirty interior and dishonest business practices. You're better off renting from the Airport or some other location.
I’m a Uber Driver,I got my Uber Rental car from here last month. This place is cool,I came here several times,everyone recognise me and call my name. I feel so warm,comfortble and welcome. They work very hard,but they work very friendly and caring. also very professional with a lot of experiences. Shanon is a cool girl!She is so knowladgeble and so adorable!She is very thoughtful and considerate!I will recommend all friends come here if you need rent a 2020 new car. This place is right next to 35 and close to Sheraton Hotel,it us very easy to find it.
I've rented many a cars and this place is gross inside and smells. Unprofessional staff, not friendly or very attentive. The Cars were not all the way clean or safe to drive. I picked up a car to use for work. Got on the road and then it started raining. There was no tred left on the tires resulting in the car to hydroplane in highway 183 going 65mph mile. When I went to exchange it now missing more than a day of work. The people working there acted like it was no big deal. And down graded me because they didn't have any other vehicles ready to go.
After waiting weeks for a car I missed a call from them at 9 in the morning and before my reservation to pick it up was even due the car had already been given away. This was after wasting at least 30 minutes just trying to get through to the actual store number and confirm they still had it because they kept forwarding the calls to customer service. How am I supposed to confirm I still want it when I can’t even get through? The reservation is at 11 but I need to be watching my phone at 9 otherwise I miss out on my chance? Terrible business model
I’m giving 1 star because I can’t give 0. The worse place to try to rent a car ever. Don’t waste your time trying to get a car from this place. The people that work there are rude, Avis allows you to rent a car online even if they don’t have a car to give you. Your going to waste time and money getting there just to hear they don’t have a car for you. You might also get there to just find out that they are closed. Also whenever you want to get your day ruined all you have to do is give them a call the person that works there has a PHD on that.
Very poor customer service. Returned the car 1. 5 hours late and was charged an entire additional day. After giving the run around I called the Avis DT Austin location ( where I rented the car) and I was told that there was nothing they where willing do about it. I asked to talk to a manager at 130 pm and was told he had left already and would do nothing about it either. Being a frequent traveler I would definitely not return to this location and avoid Avis all together. There are way better and more flexible options out there.
This Avis has been reliable and professional for us over the last few years. In my most recent experience, I had booked a cheaper rental with Hertz and they called me the day before saying they were completely out of stock even though I had paid and reserved a car several days before. Hertz recommended I call Avis which I should have done from the start! The Avis employees were friendly and gave me a nicer car than I had paid for, plus the pick-up and drop-off experience was seamless. Thank you, Avis - 11th Street!
We were visiting Austin and needed a car for 1 day (not overnight) so we can use it during the day and return it to the airport for our 9pm flight out of AUS. The location was close from downtown (short Lyft ride from hotel), and the experience was quick (we had a reservation from Expedia) so we were on our way in just a few mins. The price was reasonable (given that the price of everything shot up recently). The young gentleman at the counter was nice and courteous. Will definitely do this again.
Policies of returning car even one hour late leading to one full day charge is unethical. Late charges should be prorated on an hourly basis. When adding fees, taxes, and other charges, the vehicle cost was over $360 for two days. Never again! In addition, the vehicle they gave me needed oil maintenance according to the dash warning, was dirty, and could barely make it up hills. I rent a lot of cars for business and have found Avis to really fallen off from the company it used to be years ago.
These guys really went the extra mile for me and my wife this time, and it's time I acknowledged that they do that a lot - I rent a car for work almost every month, sometimes more often, and they are always helpful, considerate, courteous and helpful. I didn't realize that my corporate account was different than the "avis preferred" account, and I was missing out on a lot of benefits - the STAFF realized that and got me signed up!!! They are helping me save even more! Great service.
The experience at this location is the type of rental experience that only out of towners dream of. The customer service was excellent and help full. Also the cleanliness of the vehicle's is better than most locations I have rented from in the past. I recommend that the two counter associates named Shannon and Alice be your go too people when renting from this location. They are helpful and polite and welling to go above and beyond to make the experience an awesome one.
Fantastic service! All I wanted was an estimate on how much it would be to rent a minivan so I could drive to Oklahoma with my gear to find a lost cat. After a lot of punching buttons and waiting for annoying option run down on the phone then going in circles with the snotty rep with Enterprise, I called Avis and got an quick friendly answer from Ashton. Yes, I will drive farther to get to Avis, and no, they do not pick up, but I'll do business with them anyway.
Awful customer service! The manager Matt was a complete a**hole. Basically laughed at us when our credit wasn't "good enough to rent the cars". We live in Las Vegas and have Never had such an issue renting a car from Budget/Avis. I do not recommend going here if you liked to be taunted by the manager. This car rental place is the most unprofessional place I've ever dealt with. Kamilah was going to report a rental car stolen all because it was dropped off at the wrong rental place due to a miscommunication. Instead of trying to help find a solution, she threatens to report it stolen not even knowing that the car was at another Avis location. First time ever having my own rental car and it was a horrible experience. Avoid this place to avoid yourself stress.
This avis office is the worst customer service I’ve ever experienced with any company in the US. They yell at customers, they are rude and dirty and they mouth stink. I DON’T recommend this place at all. They act as if we ask them a favor. They never pick up the phone when you call them. You still need to drive up to their office to fix any issue you may encounter with the car.Avis needs to hire other workers to replace these two nasty women. SMH
Easy to get to from SoCo. Quick in and out when I picked up the car. They guy there was nice even though it was 5 mins to closing time. Car was clean but the gas tank was low on fuel. He pointed that out in case we assumed that it was full, and noted it on our agreement, so we would return at same level and not have to fill up. Ford Flex accommodated our group of 7 and all our luggage. Good pep to the car despite its large size.
The worst customer service I’ve ever experienced with any company I’ve done business with. DON’T recommend this place at all. They don’t know how to talk to customers, they act as if we were there to do them a favor. THEY CAN DEFINITELY CHANGE THE MOOD OF YOUR MORNING, WALKING IN WITH A PURPOSE AND LEAVING UPSET. Horribly unprofessional. Rude. Gave us keys and said to push the lock button to see if the car was in the lot. Told it was a different color car- no big deal except we were looking for a silver car as told. To quote " we'd like to tell you the cat is out there, but not sure." Really??? Won't be back but it doesn't matter to the location- they got paid regardless.
Decided last minute to book a rental during a short trip to Austin. The first rental place was overbooked and canceled my reservation. This location while also overbooked did have an available vehicle on hand for a slight upcharge. The checkout process was relatively quick and I was told I could do an after-hours drop-off. The moral of the story is: Book ahead.
This place is disgusting. They are the most rudest disrespectful people I have ever encountered. They continue to take money out of your account with no explaining on why fees have accrued from your bank account. I had to file a dispute with my bank because no one wanted to explain all of the fees that was withdrawn out of my account.
At the last minute another car rental company let me down. Called Avis and they had the situation under control within minutes. Needed a large SUV, they had it. Needed to leave the car at a different location, no problem, they accommodated me. I'm changing my corporation to Avis with my next rental. Thanks Avis.
My cars check engine light was on for 2 days. Blinking on and off. There was a cigarette burn in the seat the car kept calling for an oil change and all sorts of things. I've never had this problem from a is b4 so ill chuck it up to a bad avis day. But the attend was sweet friendly and alway willing to help.
Convenient location close to hotels in Downtown Austin. The staff were very friendly and helpful. There is a close by gas station for drop-off if you need to fill it. The selection of available cars is small, but fine if you just need transportation. They offer after-hours drop-off which was very helpful.

This location pays people to write fake 5 star review on Google maps— be wary of the other reviews. This is a disappointing Avis location with mediocre service, dirty cars, and poorly maintained cars. My rental car from here smelled like smoke, had a bald tire, and multiple cracks in the windshield.
Agents Adolph and Shannon helped me with my reservations as I encountered errors in my reservation. They were patient and made sure it was corrected. A+ service and top notch. They are the best Avis agents I have dealt with. And I rent a lot with Avis, currently a President's club status.

Terrible experience. The reserved car smelled strongly of smoke and they had no other stock and could not tell us who did (even the national customer service number couldn't help). We had to go to 3 other locations to get a car, wasting our time with no apologies or help.

The ladies at this joint run the show - If you don't like their attitude you're likely taking too long or being a bit painful. Budget has a way with cash grabbing at every opportunity - which is frustrating as a customer. However, these two make up for that.

Avis at 1104 S-I35 was giving me a car that was wreaking of cigarette smell. When I refused, they told me to go ahead and cancel my reservation. Did not want to offer an alternative. This to me was poor customer service.
I rented a hybrid for two weeks. The first charge was $390 and the second charge was $420. Not sure why they charged the extra money, plus people who work in the fron desk are very rude except one lady that seems to ok.

When you book online they say there are car seats available but when you get there they only have a few moldy, dirty, unusable ones.. wasting my time. I had to go down the road to hertz instead.
Let me preface this with not all Avis locations are created equal. I don’t usually rent from this location, however I needed to drop off my car at the dealership and this was the closest one.
