Took my old bike in for a tune up and tire repair. I’m a novice rider who is not mechanically inclined and this last trip I decided it was time to add some accessories (tire repair kit, flashing lights , etc). I worked with Joe who is very knowledgeable, courteous, and was patient enough to take the time to explain things. You could not have a better salesman/customer service person than Joe. My tune up and repair charge was up to around $130 when I started discussing accessories with Joe. He explained my options on a number of items and showed me how a number of things worked and or would be installed. I agreed to purchase some other items and my total bill was working it’s way into the $260 range when the boss (perhaps owner) inserted himself into the discussion/sales transaction. He told Joe that for each accessory he needed to quote me an installation charge if I was going to have him put the item on my bike. Now everyone can have an opinion on whether or not that should be done on something that may just need to be strapped onto the frame. You decide. What I do know is that discussion with the employee should be conducted in private, and not in front of the customer. I can’t speak for Joe but that entire interaction/discussion was very uncomfortable for me as a customer. At that point I was also considering purchasing some other items but I decided to stop right there. I will not be doing anymore business with BOI and will be getting those items at a different shop where the customers and employees are treated with a bit more respect/common courtesy.
The prices are very high. When I pay $100 (plus the nickel and diming) for a very basiç tune up it would be nice if you put some air in the tires. When I got home the air pressure was so low I couldnt ride my bike. Did you put the lowest air pressure possible as a favor to me? Also, the ray of sunshine at the front counter could learn how to lean a bike. When he brings my bike out while explaining to me exactly why i dont know anything it would be nice if my bike wasnt just haphazardly leaned on a display rack. Which brings up the questions, Why isnt there a bike rack on the sales floor of the bike shop? Why do people bringing bikes in just get looked at with a perplexed stare by the guy at the counter leaving them to be the ones to say " hey can i put this some where... or..... whats up??? This is only the most basic stuff i could go on an on about the dismal customer service but i digress. Im embarrassed for you and feel sorry for you. I sense that the bike shop bussiness is really hard for BOI. Sincerely David Grey Trek.
Looking into E bikes past couple of years. Older now, need a bike more power. Looked at scooters, Hondas, Royal Enfield, etc., Hurt myself. Lol! Owned a couple dirt bikes, young man. As I grow older, the balance and flex are lacking. Last year, I stopped at this business, purchased couple items I needed for my Wal Mart Huffy. This bike shop had good selection of bikes. Brands I've never heard of.I Recently broke down and purchased a Aventon E bike. Thank Joe, Jeremiah, and all associates. I live out of state, I periodically make my way through Indy. Can't wait till I get back home and pound some pavement. Later, Add fenders and a helmet. Robert 5 Stars it is Addendum: July 7, 2023. Oak Grove Missouri. Haven't made it home to Shreveport yet. Parked here at Petro. I took the bike for a spin around this community. Got my 10 mile medal. 10 miles about 50 minutes. Impressed. Hilly in this area. So far, I'm impressed with the bike.
I have been here a few times the last couple of months. I wouldn’t call the staff friendly, but we get what we need less than 10 minutes from home. My son and I went in there today originally for one $5 item but wound up getting 5 items and spending $65. A staff member complained to my son about making him go to the stockroom again for additional parts. When he came back, I corrected him, saying the requests were mine and not my son’s. I told him there wasn’t a good reason to be rude. I had decided to get parts for another bike while we were there. Another staff member came over and said this guy’s cantankerous but has a heart of gold. I get having a bad day, but treating customers rudely and making excuses doesn’t make sense. The staff directed a rude comment at my son and didn’t apologize. I don’t appreciate him targeting his comments at my minor son, who was innocent in the matter.
After years of cycling, wife reached a point she needed to go with a trike. Ordered one online and closest shop I could have it shipped to was BOI Indy. Contacted them prior to ordering and they welcomed the chance to receive and assemble it and kept me informed of when it was received and assembled and ready for pick up. When we arrived for pick up, we were met by owner John and Eric on his staff. They patiently walked my wife through trike’s setup and were very knowledgeable of not only her trike, but bicycles and riding in general. We were both very impressed with BOI and were very pleased with dealing with them. Would highly recommend that anyone wanting to purchase a bike or needing service contact them. Believe you will find them as friendly, helpful and professional as we did. First rate operation.
I would like to thank Mr. John Matthews and Joe Faulkinbury of Bicycle Outfitters Indy for their "OUTSTANDING" customer service towards me when purchasing my AVENTON AVENTURE 2 E BIKE. Mr Joe Faulkinbury took his time to show me how the E bike worked. He also gave me options on other bikes to choose from based on my height ,weight, and activity fitness level. I recently moved here from Mississippi and I couldn't have found a better bike shop. Please head over to Bicycle Outfitters Indy where they will treat you right. Thanks again Joe and John. See you soon!
I wanted to test ride the Aventon Aventure in person and BOI had plenty in stock and dedicated sales staff who let you ride everything. I could have ordered and set up my bike myself, but they had one ready, no wait and good to go for $150 set up fee. Mark drug at least 6 bikes out for me to try to be sure the Aventure was what I wanted and it was. No regrets. Aventon bikes are great (I now own 2, soltera and aventure) and BOI has what you need. They also have more accessories and more useful accessories than BGI or bike line!
I purchased a cheap bike from Walmart that was pre-assembled incorrectly, and had some bent pieces causing shifting problems. I brought the bike here and for a very good price they adjusted and/or replaced/repaired parts to get the bike working correctly. The manager even came out while I was loading the bike up to give it another test ride to make sure all was good before I drove off. Great customer service. Thank you.
Very nice bike shop. The owner and employees are very friendly, great service. I was surprised that this shop will even price match which is cool so you don’t have to drive all over town for the best price on an item. There is a large parking area in the same plaza big enough for a semi truck, even though there are signs that say no semi truck parking, I went and parked long enough to get what I needed anyway.
I called before I went in asking a few questions about repair on tire. Spoke with Greg who was Very helpful! Greg took care of me when I arrived, all my bike needed was air. He is a great salesman. He showed me a bike I fell in love with! Had to call my better half and he said no but after talking so much about Greg and the bike, we will be back on Saturday!
Greg and Joe were awesome! They worked so hard to assemble my bike as quickly as possible AND swap out some pedals for me. They even waited a few mins after closing time for us to get there just so I could have it to ride the next day. Highly recommend their services! Thanks guys! Eric & Alison
Joe was very helpful with my purchase. He made sure that before I left that my electric bike was in good shape and all my accessories were put on correctly. He was very kind and explained things well. Would shop here again!
Joe was great! He spent a ton of time going over my options, made countless suggestions and adjustments to get me dialed in, and I was very happy to leave there with a nice new Norco full suspension 29er.
Found the bike I needed. Excellent person to person sales dialog. Was taught the proper seating height and loading techniques for auto carrier. Will go there for rest of my cycling days.
Great bike shop. They have large assortment of e bikes, including Aventon. I purchased my Aventon Level 2 here. Friendly staff and expert service on your e bikes. Highly recommend!
Great experience. Great customer service. They knew exactly how to help me and find what I needed. Great products, many options. Will definitely shop here again.
Thanks for the help guys! Got my bike fixed, had good communication throughout and reasonable pricing. Happy to recommend for repairs.
Solid selection, helpful and personable staff, and they worked with me on price to get something that fit my needs in my price range.
Great service. I called to see if they were busy first and they got me right in and took care of me. Very helpful and friendly!
Bought some new MTB grips there today. Customer service was awesome, and I love my new grips.
