The staff rarely know the answer to questions. I have yet to encounter a single staff member who has been able to correctly answer one question, regardless of the question. There is no manager nor contact information for anyone in charge which is why I am leaving a public review rather than a formal complaint. Before doing anything, I asked the clerk how the photo magnet process works and she told me that they just print out right here. After ordering photo magnets, it was made clear that they were not in fact photo magnets. They have sticky magnet paper that the printed pictures are stuck onto. Within 20 seconds of attempting to pay, I was chastised by Ms. Day about the amount of time it would take her to stick the photos onto magnet stickers and that she needed to leave to pick up her son. The very first thing she said to me was "the only reason I am here is to do these magnets for you and I need to go pick up my son." She entered into this conversation already irritated and in a hurry. One of the photos printed smeared and she was irritated and disrespectful to me when I asked for it to be reprinted. She stated that it would come out the same way. When I told her that I did not think I was being unreasonable she raised her voice and said "I will not argue with you," and began to make a scene. I asked for a manager and was told he is on vacation. I asked for his contact information to write an email. She paged a pharmacy assistant and he told me that there is no manager because the manager quit. I asked where I can file a written complaint. He said I could google HR and try that. I asked who his boss is and he got uncomfortable and said they don't have one. At this point I left the store and was told I had stolen the photos because I sould not pay to be treated that way. I used to come here for my monthly prescriptione. Never again.
Hard to post this kind of review because I work retail and I know the pain, but something is off on the operational side of things here and it needs to be rectified. The employees are as kind as they can be, but seem like they have so much else on their plate they literally do not have time to be helpful. They look and sound tired and miserable. I get that short staffing causes issues, but if a prescription is filed midday, I should be able to pick it up at night, especially if the lack of that medication causes withdrawal symptoms that effect my ability to function. I do not know what is happening at Bartells since the takeover, but someone in regional or divisional needs to take a long hard look at market rates, benefits and scheduling because the issues have only gotten worse in the last few months. Your ability to retain good people is directly related to providing good customer service and retaining customers, and that just isn't happening. Pay your people, provide work life balance and you will retain your employees. From there you will be to retain customers. I am loathe to return to Walgreens, but at this point you have lost my business. Hopefully this won't be reflected on the shift leads, store management or individual employees, but on the general company culture. I've been in these situations where my bonus or some other form of compensation was directly related to social media reviews for issues that I had no power over, and that makes me scared to post this. Unfortunately, someone needs to see it. I just hope it's the right person.
Like many of the other reviewers here, I also noticed a major decline in service after the RiteAid buyout. I had been ordering prescriptions through Bartell's since 2019. Early 2022, things took a nosedive. Staff are still friendly and clearly working hard, but service got much worse. Prescriptions weren't filling on time and it became harder and harder to get anyone to pick up the phone. In store, I found myself waiting up to 20 minutes in line to get a prescription. I decided to bail this summer and transferred my prescriptions to Walgreens down the street. But Bartell's made it a pain to transfer, because their computer system is a mess after the buy out. And, even after I had transferred and thought I was in the clear, two months later Walgreens told me they couldn't fill my prescription because this Bartell's had auto-filled two months after I had already switched pharmacies! I called this store maybe 20 times in one day to get them to cancel the prescription, and they never picked up the phone or called me back. A day later this Bartell's cancelled the order, still never calling me back. Just go down the street to Walgreen's - RiteAid really messed this store up, and now they don't even have the local business argument to make it worth supporting them.
Bartell's used to be great under the original owners; once RiteAid bought the company they've been consistently understaffed, late, understocked, and unhelpful. I recognize the employees aren't paid enough, so I don't personally blame them, but I do not recommend using any Bartell's locations for your prescriptions at this point. They don't answer their phone (the messaging system hung up on me when it was supposed to redirect me to a pharmacist), are late to open (I showed up at 9:15 one morning they were supposed to open at 8 and it was still 10 more minutes until the pharmacy worker arrived and another 20 to get their system running), and take over a week to fill important prescriptions. Mine are vital to my ability to stay alive; I cannot wait days with no word for these prescriptions. The store itself is fine for snacks, cleaning products, cosmetics, etc, but go somewhere else for your medications if you can.
Bartell’s has gone downhill since they were acquired by Rite Aid. The new pill bottle labels are incredibly difficult to read (writing is small and too light), they stopped carrying the Premier Value brand (which I’ve been buying for the last 10+ years) and have reduced brand diversity (Cutex is the only brand of nail polish remover now, I’ve tried all their “varieties”, they all suck) and now they’ve changed pharmacy hours by sticking a hand written paper on the door, without contacting customers via text to say “hey, btw, we close two hours earlier than we ever have before.” Customer service also feels to have gotten slightly worse, which is why I’m doing 2 stars instead of 1. The formerly friendly and helpful employees just don’t seem that happy to be there anymore. After 20 years, I’m about ready to start looking for a new drug store.
I think the pharmacy no longer exists. They won't answer the phone or reply to voice mails left. Their online prescription system is completely broken - every time I want to log in to check on status of my prescriptions/account I have to call the website customer care to delete my account so I can remake it from scratch because it's utterly defective. Tried to request refills for 2 very common and abundant meds but have been waiting over a week (5 business days!) with the status of "processing" on the website. No idea if or when I will be able to pick up the meds I am now completely out of because they don't answer the phone or communicate in any way! At this point I can only conclude the pharmacists have all quit and there is no longer a pharmacy at this location or plans to communicate that to customers.
I've grown up relying on Bartell's locations for their fast and excellent service. However since the Rite Aid buyout I feel like the quality and speed of service here has really declined. Usually a pharmacy will fill a prescription automatically as soon as it comes in, but lately I've been having to call this location and ask them to fill my prescription every month, sometimes multiple times for the same fill. There were a few months earlier this year when the store was particularly understaffed where getting someone to just pick up the phone was a sizable effort. Getting my prescriptions filled used to be an effortless process but since the buyout I've been feeling like I have to babysit the process of getting my prescriptions filled and it's really inconvenient and disappointing.
This Bartels used to be a good store, well stocked, and with a good pharmacy. Now, it is the worst I have ever experienced. Today I, again, went in to pick up a prescription for a prescription called-in a week ago and they still did not have it. And, The pharmacy does not answer their phone, so you can't call-in to check on your prescription before going to the store and waiting on line for about 45 minutes-only to find out the prescription was not in-stock, but that no one ordered it. So, we have had it with this store. One week later and still no medicine? We are taking our business elsewhere. Note to Rite Aid-you are destroying what was once a good company (Bartells).
The pharmacists at Bartells exemplify the core values of distain and resentment for customers. Don’t go here unless you are paid to enter the doors. I went to get a vaccine and the pharmacist said I needed to schedule an appointment first. After 5 minutes of trudging through the website, I found that the next available appointment is tomorrow. I asked her and she said that she will close in 45 minutes, so no more vaccines (I was the only person in the store). She could have just told me that there wasn’t enough time to get a shot instead of directing me to a website.
At the past location, I was able to call ahead for a prescription. I would be able to speak to someone to have it ready by the time I arrived, as they had long lines. At this location, I have to call and call, the call is never answered, it continually rings. I have tried selecting the other options to no luck. I can understand being short staffed but the phone needs to answered. especially when I arrive and there is no line, but I still have to wait more than 30 minutes. Someone make it make sense!
Bartells has been the pharmacy I've gone to since I was young. Rite aid ruined this once beloved pharmacy chain. Prescriptions used to be ready in less than a day and I rarely had to wait in lines. Now the pharmacy is so understaffed from the corporate MBAs trying to squeeze every dollar that they can, making the shopping experience miserable. The availability of products is horrible, and the employees need more support.
I really like their specials on kitchen suppies items like Fisher Scone mix & Adams Peanut Butter, the absolute best PB around! I called one day to ask the latter's availability but that woman hung-up on me. I called the next day and that woman told me that they were sold-out. They are good about rainchecks, if you are in the store at the time. Unfortunately, I am out-of-luck this time around.
Pharmacy will not answer phone or return calls. Website says to "call pharmacy" to fill certain prescriptions. But pharmacy will not answer phone or fill voicemail requests. As someone disabled and reliant on public transportation, I cannot go to this pharmacy every time I have a question or need to request a refill. I need to find an actual functioning pharmacy.
This is one of the most poorly run stores I have ever encountered! The staff in pharmacy are rude if indeed you can ever get anyone to answer the telephone. When you call the main part of the store they pick up the phone and immediately disconnect. My advice: never use this chain as Rite Aide has become the death of a once great company when they acquired it.
This is the second day in a row this location has closed 15 min before closing time!!!! I have gotten here at 9:45 for the lights to be off and doors closed not even a worker counting tills?!! This is ridiculous!! You don’t close til 10 that means at least til 9:58 I should be able to walk in. Poor customer service lazy Washington workers !!
Just walked in this Bartell in my construction uniform to purchase 30 energy drinks for my job sight employees. I had the store mangers yell for male employee to come help then she jumped in front of me as i walked up to the register insinuating I was going to run out the Door with out paying... I will never walk in this store again.
Unfortunately, the pharmacy gave me someone else's medication and they did not catch it until I returned to tell them. And when I asked them to transfer my prescription to another pharmacy, they messed that up, too. This is obviously very dangerous and negligent. You do not deserve the current 4 star rating. Please do better.
Staff was really rude about walk in booster shots, I called, they are confirmed that they have it and have availability until 4-30 but whem I showed up 2 min later they only gave vaccine to me and not my husband. There was Noone for the appointments around and pretty sure the next appointment canceled or no- showed.
I choose to support our local pharmacy over the Walgreens and CVSs of the city, and though they don't have as many sales or deals, they're very good in the photo lab, pharmacy, and elsewhere service-wise. Sometimes the clerks and I just chat and it feels like the pharmacies I remember from small towns I've lived in.
I used to love Bartells, but things have deteriorated recently (since the RiteAid buyout). The employees are still friendly, but there just aren't enough of them it seems. I'm able to get a phone call answered less than 15% of the time and my prescription information on the website always seems to be out of date.
Went in there today a little after 7 PM and the pharmacy was shuttered. The website says they are open until 9 PM. This needs to be updated. The pharmacy experience is hit or miss. Sometimes the staff just ignores you while you wait. Suggestion- say "I'll be right with you" to acknowledge your presence.
This site keeps advertising they have things like COVID tests and COVID boosters but never do. They'll let you schedule appointments for these critical needs, but when you get there, they look at you like you just asked them for a unicorn. I've tried this site so many times, but never again.
This has been my regular pharmacy for over 4 years, and I am always impressed with their service, both in person and on the phone! I want to especially call out Kiyoung, who is always kind and helpful. The store itself is also always well stocked and organized, and the cashiers are stellar!
This pharmacy will not answer their phone or return phone calls. Very poor customer service - I’ve called about 15 times in the last week and it goes to voicemail every time, and they have not called me back. Have to go into the store to get them to do anything. Very disappointed.
Love this local pharmacy! They are always quick with my prescriptions, even when I don't call them in ahead of time. Great variety of toiletries and accessories, as well as tons of small gifts, candies, and cards for when you forget a birthday or need a quick pick-me-up.
Don’t go here for a pharmacy unless you want to get your prescriptions late/not at all. Good luck trying to reach them by phone, or having them do anything like transferring an Rx. Nice staff, just woefully understaffed and terrible parent organization (CVS?)
I have been a Bartell customer for over 20 years and never had bad service prior to the RiteAid take over. All Bartell locations now seem to be severely under staffed. You need to give yourself at least 30 min just to pick up your prescriptions.
Drove 30 min to this specific Bartell's because it was the only one in my vicinity that had the children's covid vaccine in stock and their website didn't have any appointments available but clearly stated they encouraged vaccine walk-ins.
Waited almost an hour for a prescription that was supposed to be ready 6 hours ago. Never called my name. Had to go ask them if it was ready or not and they finally said it was ready. Won’t be coming back to this pharmacy.
DO NOT COME HERE FOR YOUR PHARMACY. Every time I have to fill a prescription there is an issue or a huge line. My doctor has informed me that they are not fulfilling prescriptions accurately. They never answer the phone.
Love the pharmacist at this local Bartell's! All the staff is friendly and the service is great! While we don't have many prescriptions to fill, we make it a point to get them (and our vaccines) from Bartell's on 45th!
The phone number works and I've seen people behind the counter at the pharmacy, but they do not answer the phones. Some real nonsense having to go in and *hope* they are ready to do enough work to fill my prescription
Pharmacy should be open but absolutely nobody is here and there are 7 people in line and we’ve been waiting for 15min already. If nobody is actually here at least put a sign out so we are not all just waiting around.
Bright and clean, with an impressive selection of herbs and nutritional supplements. You can also buy toys, household goods, As Seen on TV products, and some food. I don't know how they fit so much in a small store!
This is my neighborhood drugstore so I go here all the time. The pharmacy is often backlogged. Even if you have a prescription called in hours beforehand, you should call them first to make sure they've filled it.
I called the store, and they said the hours are 10am-6pm on weekends and 8am-7pm on weekdays due to how little staff is there, so disregard the website. They are doing their best, try not to be so hard on them!
It’s really unfortunate to be the arbitrator between the Pharmacy and the Hospital as the patient who has no control over their own methods of practices. Really nice people though, I don’t mind coming here.
Was in the 5 person pharmacy line and nobody moved up, after 10 minutes just left for CVS down the street. Also gross and old on the inside with poor selection and high prices, not much reason to come here.
Just transferred all my scripts to CVS. These pharmacists are from the ninth circle of hell and treated me like I’d taken a dump in the Guggenheim. Used to be one of my favorite stores, refuse to go in now.
The pharmacy never answers the phone or calls back. The store always opens later than the labeled start time. This Bartells location is a major mess!!!! Stay clear! I'd go to a different store/pharmacy.
Friendly staff, some of them know me by name at this point. We enjoy coming here for prescriptions and some snacks. Who knew that Bartell's always has the best price on Theo's chocolates?
Worst service I’ve ever had anywhere. The pharmacy manager is rude, inflexible, and doesn’t listen to any questions, and therefore doesn’t provide any answers, solutions, or service.
So nice to come in and be remembered and called by my first name. Saron has always been happy, helpful and fast!! Thank you for the awesome and in-depth good customer service!!!
Pharmacy just doesn’t work. App and phone calls both get you nowhere. Doesn’t seem to be the employees fault but I wouldn’t recommend any Bartells since the rite aid but out
Pharmacy is very professional and answer my calls when I need them. The easiest pharmacy I’ve worked with- so happy it’s in my neighborhood :)
I have been trying to get through to this pharmacy for 4.5 hours now and no one has ever answered the phone. Super useful!
Pharmacy never answers the phone, won't transfer medication to other pharmacies. Freaks in the store.
Great people, good products, and helpful pharmacy! Keep up the good work! Proud to shop here.
They have been understaffed for 6 months and take 3-5 days to fill a prescription
Best to avoid Bartell’s.
