Bites on Bonwick get the important things right. Food, coffee and friendly service. Their Italian food in particular is well done (and I have had a lot of Italian food in my time). While the atmosphere isn’t the place I’d choose to go on a date, or have a evening cocktail out with friends, their country charm and wonderful service make them my go to cafe for breakfast and lunch. If I request a change to one of the dishes they always happily accommodate. Final bit of praise - after trying all the pizza joints in Fawkner, Bites is my go to for take-away. They do trad pizza well at a reasonable price. Congratulations on your first year of being open Bites, you’re a loved staple already in Fawkner.

The owners aren’t afraid of a little mess and they have a great back nook for parents with babies. Their change facilities are always clean.

Food is top notch. Whether it is for a quick coffee, brunch, lunch date with a special someone or dinner with the family you will never be disappointed. The staff are friendly and welcoming. The atmosphere is welcoming and spacious. And the food is mouthwatering. Give it a try... I think you will agree

There is street front parking as well as a carport in the rear. Being a shopping district there will be busy times and finding parking can get tedious.... but I always find one.
Wheelchair accessibility
There is wheelchair access at the front. There is also alot of disabled parking with ramp access to the footpaths. There was a upgrade to Bonwick Street Shopping district a few years ago to make more user friendly for the elderly and wheelchair/scooter bound patron. The upgrade has also made it a more social area.

The food is good, but the menu is a bit dated. No vegan options. They make the coffee way too hot, hotter than 70 degrees. I asked just to add some milk and she remade it which was nice except that it came back really hot again. She said to ask for it under 70 degrees next time, but I think 70 = extra hot. 60-65 is regular temp. I think most people want it hot but drinkable, and if they want extra hot they’ll say? I asked the other barrister to add some milk, and in my haste to just leave because I felt bad about asking for another adjustment to the coffee I didn’t specify dairy milk so I had to throw it out when I got home. Appears to be really social and connected with locals who’ve been in Fawkner a long time, which is really good for them. However if you’re after a quiet spot for a coffee and to read or just a quiet moment to yourself it might not be a place for you. I think some people love it, for me the 3-4 times I’ve been there the coffees been just ok (or bad) and I’ve never wanted to sit and stay.

I can’t say enough about this place, absolutely top tier!! Has dinner here with my family and from the second we walked in we were greeted with friendly smiles and were taken straight to our seats. The girl that served us was so bubbly and lovely, even recommended items for us when we were having trouble deciding… the things she recommended (as well as everything else) was DELICIOUS! Really admired how everything ran like a well oiled machine The restaurant itself provided a really comfortable and homey atmosphere, with music in the background that was at the perfect volume that you could chat away with no issue of it overpowering the conversation. I was so so impressed with my experience here, HIGHLY recommend to absolutely everyone… we will definitely be returning many times A gem in our little suburb of Fawkner

Had a lovely brunch here yesterday. The food and coffee along with the service was top notch. Went home with a couple of cakes and was very disappointed. Both lemon and carrot cakes were hard and stale. Specially the carrot cake tasted extremely bad like it was made weeks ago. Had to throw them in the bin. EDIT: Went back again and got compensated with fresh almond croissant and muffin which tasted great this time. Also got a coffee on the house. Customer service here is next level.

We very much enjoyed our dine in experience at the new Bites on Bonwick. The friendly service was amazing and the atmosphere was terrific. The food was delicious but the pizza was especially awesome.
