They are awful. I have 2 pet rabbits, one male and one female. Here is my story: 1. I brought in my male gendered rabbit to be neutered back in July 2022. They called me an hour later saying my rabbit was a female (with full confidence) and that I had to pay extra for the surgery. Apparently, they had only checked if his testes had dropped without doing any additional testing. I trusted the vet because, why wouldn’t I?? A lot of rabbits die during these surgeries so I opted not to get the surgery since that meant I have 2 females. 2. January 18, my female bunny started to act VERY weird and through research I determined that she was behaving as if she was pregnant. I took her in to be checked by the vet on January 19. He did an ultrasound and said there was no pregnancy, just a cyst. Again, why wouldn’t I trust his words?? 3. Saturday, January 28. I wake up to baby bunnies!!!! A rabbit pregnancy lasts 30 days so she was DEFINITELY pregnant when I brought her in. Excuses they gave me: science isn’t perfect and your male didn’t have testes showing when you brought him so we went with the obvious that he was a female without doing any additional tests. They also didn’t tell me they weren’t sure if he was a male and they had to confirm, they were confident that he was a female. My favourite was: You didn’t give us proof he was a male so we trusted our judgment and you have no actual proof so he could still be a female. You didn’t want to pay extra for a spay surgery so it’s your fault that we never knew he was actually a male. They definitely would’ve killed him if they were doing a surgery for a female when he is actually a male so basically I was paying extra for my rabbit to die. We did the ultrasound and didn’t see any vertebrate or skulls so we thought the mass inside her was a cyst without doing any additional testing. How do we know those babies are from those same 2 rabbits??? I live in a high rise with no access to other rabbits and the female is feeding her babies… yea, I’m sure. Finally, they said they would refund me all the money I had paid them on the condition that I sign a waiver of liability indemnifying them from any responsibility for the 4 baby bunnies I now have to take care of!!!!! No way am I signing away their responsibility from this fiasco. It was their fault from the get-go and they don’t want to take ownership. They are either con-artists or incompetent, or BOTH.

My experience with them during what should have been a routine operation turned into a nightmare of misdiagnoses and agony for my poor cat. I brought Onyx to the clinic for a seemingly straightforward procedure – the removal of bladder stones. The veterinarian assured me that they would do their best to save Onyx and alleviate his discomfort. However, the reality that unfolded was far from their promises. The procedure was supposed to involve removing four bladder stones. Shockingly, it wasn't until it was too late that they realized there was a fifth stone lodged in the Urethra. This grave oversight led to severe complications, including excessive bleeding and the inability for Onyx to urinate. For five agonizing days, my cat suffered unimaginably due to the clinic's diagnostic errors and negligence. It's hard to put into words the anger and sadness I feel for my precious pet, who deserved better than the ordeal he endured. The communication from The Blackburn Animal hospital was inconsistent and insufficient. I was left feeling helpless and desperate for answers as my cat's condition deteriorated. The mismanagement of Onyx's case is inexcusable. The Blackburn Animal hospital failure to accurately diagnose and address his condition not only caused him immense suffering but also ultimately led to his untimely death. The trauma my cat experienced in his final days haunts me, knowing that he deserved compassionate and competent care. I implore The Blackburn Animal hospital to take a hard look at their practices and prioritize the well-being of the animals they are entrusted to care for. This experience has shattered my trust in their abilities, and I sincerely hope that no other pet owner has to endure the heartbreak and anger that I have been forced to face. I encourage anyone considering this place to please carefully read their responses to other negative reviews, you will see that the staff minimize or gaslight their unhappy customers about what happened to their beloved creatures. Especially do not come here with rabbits. Dr. Mobarak misdiagnosed our rabbit with 'dehydration' and 'overgrown teeth'. He suggested she likely has a 'spinal injury' or 'neurological condition'. He recommended a host of invasive procedures and pressured us to agree to force our bunny to undertake those procedures all at once. He also nearly dropped our 12 year old rabbit and manhandled her unsafely. He grabbed her head and pulled it back, stretching her back, and flattened her head against her back, making her cry. I have attended many rabbit vet appointments and never has a rabbit been handled so violently as by Dr. Mobarak. After her assault by Dr. Mobarak, she stopped eating and making bowel movements. That symptom only arose after the vet appointment. We couldn't get an actually qualified rabbit vet to see her until the end of the week so we had to force feed her Critical Care to avoid GI Stasis, a condition that rabbit owners will know is fatal in rabbits, and which is typically brought on by high stress situations (I'm looking at you, Dr. Mobarak). We got a second opinion at Glebe Pet Clinic where the doctor was gentle and careful and he specifically addressed Dr. Mobarak's misdiagnoses: she is not dehydrated, she has no overgrown teeth. She has arthritis for which he prescribed pain medecine. Not a surprise given her advanced age. Since then her condition has drastically improved.

I highly recommend this animal hospital for anyone who loves their pets and wants the best care for them. The staff here are amazing, friendly, and professional. They took great care of my dog Diezel, who had a cancerous tumour and needed surgery. They explained everything to me in detail, from the diagnosis to the treatment options, and they were very transparent about the costs. They answered all my questions, provided an estimate of the recovery time and follow-up care that Diezel would need, and even answered the questions I didn’t know to ask. I could not have felt more comfortable and confident in their abilities and service. I have had bad experiences with many other vets in the past, who either did not explain why they were performing certain tests, or charged me extra fees without my consent quickly running up huge bills without any real explanation of why it was even necessary for his health. But this animal hospital was different. They respected my wishes and my budget, and they did not try to upsell me on unnecessary items or tests, only suggesting what would actually be beneficial for his health. They were honest, compassionate, and trustworthy. They treated Diezel like their own, and he has been having a very smooth and happy recovery. I am very grateful to this animal hospital for the care and service provided. They are truly the best in the business, and I will never take my pets anywhere else. We brought our 3 year old GSD, Jengo, in for the first time today. Our previous vet told us we needed to amputate his toe due to a nail split gone wrong. We were referred to the Blackburn Animal Hospital by a friend and were originally cautious about switching vets as Jengo is extremely reactive, however, we are so glad we did. From the first call with Ahmad, to the appointment itself, the Dr.s, Ahmad, and staff were beyond welcoming and reassuring. Jengo’s reactivity was triggered by a poor experience at a different vet previously and we wanted him to be as comfortable as possible. We usually sedate him before vet visits but we brought him in fully conscious for his appointment at the Blackburn Animal Hospital and it went amazingly well. They made it such a good experience for Jengo and allowed us to stay with him throughout the appointment and procedure to comfort him. The Dr’s were super gentle and careful with Jengo, and Ahmad kept everyone laughing to ease the anxiety in us humans, thus easing Jengo’s anxiety as well. The Dr’s managed to save the toe and only remove the nail, while addressing all of our other concerns with Jengo. I would highly recommend Blackburn Animal Hospital. The environment and staff energy made for such a great experience. Thank you so so much Ahmad, Dr. Mobarak, and staff. We are forever grateful and look forward to having you as our vet moving forward.

Can’t say enough about the staff and doctors at Blackburn Animal Hospital. We found a tick on our little one year old Maltese in May and, not coming from an area where ticks are overly common, we were concerned about whether we had got the head. We were quite nervous. Initially, we went to the Hamlet Vet Hospital, but had a less than satisfactory experience. We immediately took our pup across the street where BAH were able to take a took at him right away. Not only that, but we mentioned that we were struggling to get him to eat. They suggested a food, and it’s the only kibble he’s eaten, going on four months. Our dog got sick again with canine influenza a few weeks ago. They did a bunch of tests, blood work, and provided us with antibiotics. The whole time treating him with the greatest of care. We’ve had to go back two other times for reasons related to his illness, but the vet and manager were so kind and understanding. Normally, veterinary expenses can be prohibitive, but BAH has treated so reasonably. Other members of staff are equally sweet and caring when handling him. He doesn’t like other vets much, but he is definitely warming up to these guys. All I can say is I’m very happy with the service we’ve been receiving.

It has taken me a while to write this review due to the nature of the visit but i wanted to share. I haven’t had very many vet visits but I think every visit should go the same way it went with me. From the moment i walked in i was treated very kindly and almost as if i were their friend and we were just hanging out. They were cracking jokes with me about my fat and large cat Nigel and making me laugh as I was in tears due to even being at the Vet. They worked with me regarding my financial issues and allowed me to stay longer with my pet when it was time to put him down. The environment was very clean and welcoming. I went out of my way to go to this hospital due to the good reviews from friends and i am glad i did so. Thank you again for your kindness and ensuring I had a good experience while being in a terrible situation. :)

I was extremely impressed with the level of care and professionalism provided by the staff. From the moment I walked in the door, I was greeted with friendly smiles and a warm welcome. The clinic itself is clean, modern and well-equipped, providing the best possible care for my dog. During the appointment, the veterinarian took the time to explain every aspect of my dog’s health and answered all of my questions with patience and understanding. They went above and beyond to ensure that all of my concerns were addressed and that I was completely satisfied with expectations. I will definitely be returning for all of my dog’s future health needs.

I am beyond grateful for the care and compassion my cat received. I was not a patient there, but they took him in immediately on short notice. He required 5 days hospitalization and lots of meds and different procedures done as he had a bad infection. They were accommodating and allowed me to visit whenever I wanted and stay with him as long as I wanted. Ahmad even came in on Sunday even though they’re closed to let me stay with him for a while. They helped to keep the costs as low as possible and financed what I wasn’t able to pay up front. He is back home and recovering. I can’t thank you guys enough ♥️♥️♥️

You already gave her 2 extra years after saving her life 2 years ago from a severe infection and you did an amazing work to help her in her last days. The staff at this location were AMAZING - they took me and my dog in on a emergency appointment right before closing on New Years eve. My dog had developed a lymph infection over less than a day and a half and was in desperate need of antibiotics. They were SO good with him, taking the time and care to deal with a particularly difficult dog (couldn't be muzzled as his snout was swollen/in pain) , giving him some pain medication to be able to eat and sleep, and he's on two weeks of antibiotics. He's feeling so much better already and almost back to normal :) Thank you so much!!

I would leave 10 stars if I could! Blackburn Animal Hospital was able to see my cat when our regular vet did not return my calls. They went above and beyond to take care of her in her time of need, and less than 24 hours later she is back to her old self and on her way to recovery. I couldn't be happier with the kind, compassionate care and service we received. You can tell the staff here really care. I can’t say enough about the staff at this vet. We took our senior cat in because he wasn’t feeling well. They took great care of him and even though the situation had a sad outcome, the staff here were amazing. From the person at the front desk, to the vet tech and the vet himself. I appreciate the time you all took to try and make my cat feel better. A special appreciation goes to Ahmad who went above and beyond, and probably even beyond that. He has a big, kind heart and we thank him for all he did.

Honestly, the best animal hospital on planet earth. The staff are so friendly and very intelligent in assessing health and wellness for the animals. This mindset has helped me save on expensive treatments. My kitten Jasmine was in severe condition, and they have treated her to full health. We recently had to bring in our cat, Suzu, for care when she fell quite sick. She's an old cat (just about 18 years old), and it can be hard to find good care for an old animal. We've been going to the Blackburn Animal Hospital for over a decade now, and this last visit just reinforced that decision. The vet took amazingly good care of her, she made a full recovery, and she's livelier than ever now. Sincere thanks to the entire staff. It's clear that you care.

A great vet! I have been to two other vets since moving to Ottawa from Toronto, and both of them tried to gouge me on costs. The staff at Blackburn Animal Hospital are friendly, courteous and generally care about the health and well being of the animal. My dog Holly had a tumour removed from her eyelid, and she is doing better than ever now! They charged me half the cost of other vets in the area. I would definitely recommend going here!

I have been bringing my dog Maggie to this place for her shots and annual check ups for 6 years now and the service and care is extra ordinary! Best animal hospital by far. The receptionist are very quick to answer and polite. The Doctor is very calm, caring and really tries his best to make my dog feel comfortable. You can tell they really genuinly care about animals and aren't just in for the money. 10/10

I took my dog in to have his broken dewclaw looked at, It ended up needing to be completely removed. I was a nervous wreck but everyone there was so sweet to both me and my dog, it really made the visit a lot easier. 3 days post procedure and Bubbles is back to his usual antics. Prices were reasonable all things considered, definitely worth it to see my boy happy and healthy. Would definitely recommend!

Blackburn animal hospital has the most caring, accommodating, and genuinely helpful vets I have ever taken my dog to. I wish I had found them sooner. My dog has liver disease and they have been able to see her every time she has needed medical care. They allow me to stay with her and participate in taking care of my dog. I highly recommend Blackburn to anyone who wants proper care for their pet.

Yesterday was our first and definitely not last time going here. We had a terrific experience, they promptly responded to what was happening with our dog and took care of her, she was not even nervous there, she was very comfortable and that makes me feel comfortable taking her back there. Fairly priced, friendly, and VERY clean. Rosie gives it 2 dew claws up, she'd give more if she had more.

Amazing! We took our very sick kitten here and he had to stay at the hospital for 24hrs since he was very sick and needed IV. Our kitten is doing great and we are so thankful to have found this amazing animal hospital. A special thank you to Dr. Mobarak, Ahamed and the staff for taking very good care of Simba for us. We knew he was in good hands. We so appreciated it! We Highly recommend it!

Would not take my rabbits there again. The vet handled my elderly (12 year old) bunny quite aggressively. He didn't ask me to take her out of the carrier and hold her, didn't ask about her medical history and just started the exam. After the rough treatment, he recommended an x-ray to check her bone health... so why did he handle her that way if he though her spine could be injured??

The most incredible vet I have ever met! The compassion they show with the animals is unbeatable, truly they are there for the animal not to just line their pockets! Fair pricing, responsive to any questions or concerns you have without saying “I don’t know bring them in”! Amazing people I suggest everyone take their fur babies to them to have the smoothest vet visit of their lives.

I could not recommend a better vet clinic! The staff are so attentive, caring and they are always willing to take the time to explain things to you. My cat Max was not doing well a few months ago and after just one visit, he was already doing better. This is an excellent vet clinic. Dr. Riad took great care of my dog when he went in for a hematoma and allergy problems with great results. His ear is no longer swollen, and all the allergy related problems are taken care of. Dr. Riad also made a plan for what to do when symptoms eventually come back. Definitely my best vet experience, and I recommend them highly.

Such an amazing team. I brought my dog Oscar after 3 years of dealing with an injury to his paw. Within one month he was better. The team at the Blackburn animal hospital were so caring and really went out of their way to ensure my dog and me were comfortable and happy. We are from out of town and hours away from our original vet clinic. I called in and they were able to take my dog in for an emergency appointment the same day. The entire team was professional, helpful, welcoming and kind throughout the entire process. Hands down the best vet in Ottawa and will recommend this place to everyone!

The entire staff were incredibly helpful and kind when we had to bring our cat in for an emergency. They worked really hard to make sure he would make it and went out of there way to do everything they could, and keep us informed. We're very grateful to have found Blackburn Animal Hospital and thank them for their dedication.

My dogs love going there...staff is friendly and helpful, very good with animals and ready with suggestions to different aliments. My Lab is getting up there in age and hips are not working as good as before Dr recommended at treatment and we started it right away..notice difference the next day.

My dog Sophie ingested a small stone which caused all kinds of grief to her digestive system. She was very well taken care of by Dr. Mobarak and his staff. Thanks to the first class care received Sophie is recovering very quickly. If she needs care in future I would not take her anywhere else.

Vet is a very experienced, knowledgable and caring. He puts your best interest as his priority. Staff are very helping and caring, they assist you and educate you on the procedures and after care for your pet. I had a very positive experience with the clinic throughout the years.

We brought our cat, Audrey, in after experiencing some tummy issues and we couldn't be happier with the outcome - she has been a happier and healthier cat since her visit! The service we received was efficient and pricing was reasonable. Will definitely recommend BAHPC!

My dog got sick on Monday and no animal hospital was free to see him, until I got a hold of blackburn animal hospital. They kept him the first night for observation, and did all the necessary blood work and xrays and a thorough examination.
