The service was very terrible. Waiting in a line of 4 because the operator taking orders wasn’t sufficiently trained in using the till and understanding what was being said so it took forever to put through a single person took 10 minutes initially. We ordered and sat down in the cafe. One coffee we ordered was suppose to be a large and when addressed the female smiled at my husband and gushed as if to say oh sorry but I’m not gonna do anything about it. I am a regular coming to the cafe and can say wholeheartedly the coffee is consistently amazing and I specifically come to the cafe for this and the homemade sausage rolls so imagine waiting 30 minutes for a sausage roll that came from a box x3. During the long time we spent in the cafe the coffees were prompt (charging $3.50 for a babycino though is ridiculous) and the table service was very poor you can only get service by attending the cashier again which is very frustrating when you have young children. There was plenty of staff to delegate one to ensuring their customers seated were taken care of and the tables were promptly cleared to ensure the cleanliness of the cafe. The final straw was the big breakfast ordered which also took 30 minutes to arrive which was served stone cold and cost $28. A huge disappointment. This cost approx $70 for 4 coffees, a babycino, big breakfast(barely) and 3 frozen sausage rolls. Don’t change the menu if you can’t keep giving regulars consistency.

Not having visited before so not aware of the quirks of ordering and being seated, the queue was out past the gift shop. One person in our group queued to be seated at a table. The seating is allocated at the register and the person at the register told them they should order for us all because otherwise we’d have to queue again for 30 mins to order. So we all quickly picked a meal, eany meany miny mo style from a photo of the menu. We were seated next to a big group in an alcove which was incredibly noisy. To order extra drinks we had to queue again. I’ve never attended a restaurant or cafe that does not allow guests to sit and peruse the menu prior to ordering. My sticky pork salad was delish and the Arancini were good, the rest of the meals were ok but not +$20 value. My coffee was 3rd worst coffee I’ve ever had. There’s better ways of doing things to be more efficient. There were plenty of front of house staff so I don’t understand why someone couldn’t seat people. Not a cafe I’m going to return to.

Service + staff were friendly, efficient, clean, warm, welcoming. They made sure our table + chairs were spotlessly clean before seating us. Orders are taken at the front counter + paid in advance. My friend had a homemade pie + side salad. I had toastie (ham + cheese) + side salad. The best salad I've eaten anywhere due to the top quality of fresh ingredients + a refreshing dressing. The cafe filled up rather quickly + even though every table was filled by the time we were finished, the noise levels from each table was very respectable. It was a pleasant change to be eating in a cafe where you aren't subjected to overly loud patrons or screeching of chairs dragged in + out. Everyone seemed to respect everyone, talking + laughing in quiet relaxed tones. When we finished eating, the staff collected our dishes + once we up to leave, I noticed the table + chairs were given another thorough clean. Very impressive in every area.

Very disappointed with this cafe. No order or service whatsoever. I asked at counter if we could get a table please, "if you can find one" was the answer? I went in to see many empty tables covered with dirty dishes, which I cleared myself and wiped the table down. We ordered at counter (no table service) as very slow we chose a serve fries and 2 pre-made sandwiches to be toasted, and 2 coffees which eventually came. Fries were cold, coffee cold and sandwiches barely toasted without any butter, dry and tasteless! I would hate to come here on a busy day! No service, overpriced with very ordinary food! Bring your own packed lunch is my advice!

We recently had a family birthday luncheon with young children right through to oldies. The staff were very friendly and efficient and made the experience so much easier. The ordering at the counter can be a bit tedious with alot of people but is made up for by the speed of service once ordered. Thank you very much

Kid-friendliness
The staff served quickly and were kid savvy!
Wheelchair accessibility
The option to drive right up to the back of the cafe is great rather than having an elderly person with a walker push up the hill.

Doesn't exactly look like the photos. However, on Sunday it was super busy with the line out the door and we couldn't get a table inside. I overheard that our meals would be served in a box to eat on the outside tables. I informed the lady eggs Benedict isn't a box meal thanks and she quickly and professionally got my eggs bought out on a plate. Unfortunately her service was the only thing holding that place up. The food for 6 of us was agreed to be over priced and ordinary.

Probably the most lovely Cafe in Cranbourne in terms of location and aesthetic/atmosphere. However we were disappointed with the lack of generosity with our meals. The price did not match up with the small portion sizes. My husband got the suvlaki which was tasty but didn't have enough meat and my calamari salad was mostly salad, not much calamari. Also we had to wait in a long line to order our food as there is no table service which really takes away from a nice dining experience where you are spending a fair bit of money.

A busy cafe with heaps of options to try. Just had a bowl of chips which weren’t anything fancy. They did mention their meat is halal and they use separate utensils for cooking bacon. Wanted to try iced coffee but they didn’t have icecream.

Great for an isolated (not in a main food strip) venue. Staff gave a happy, upbeat attitude. Coffee good as was the food. Don't miss the afternoon up close with 'Naughty' the Billbey(sp?). Quite is needed! So maybe not good for all children and soon Adults. Great photo opportunity of which there are many around the Garden. Enjoy and remember the season. Green is a colour.

A must after a leisurely stroll throughout Cranbourne Botanical Gardens. Large windows with views overlooking gardens. Comfortable atmosphere. Friendly service. Great coffee! Wifey had the calamari. I had the eggs benedict (with optional extra of smoked salmon). Delicious!

Very nice cafe that can see the very beautiful red sand desert view. This located just opposite visitors center. Seating is very comfortable, cafe not very big. Menu are partially Australian native flavors. Desserts where not in the menu are quite good. Orange cake not very sweet. Staff are friendly. Plenty of parking at the entrance of the garden, with just a short walk.

We arrived at 3.10pm but couldnt sit in the restaurant which clearly stated 4.30 close. Such a shame, outside tables - just a few were all taken. Takeaway coffee was great, staff were nice but didnt explain why we couldnt sit, only that they were sorry but not today. Lots of lovely fresh food, but we didnt bother as we had had such a lovely walk - we had a young baby with us and so just headed to the car with our coffee

Fantastic service! can get super busy but staff manage their time really well and are able to multitask. I ordered a burger that I wanted cheese off and when I asked for that and sat back down at my table the staff made sure to ask me if I wanted to change my order because there is cheese within the patty. would definitely come here again!

Chaos… to line up for a table/place an order at the counter, queues out the door & plenty of seating available. Your system is not working! My order for coffee ‘extra hot’ arrived before we got to our table & was luke warm & my Egg & Bacon roll was cold in the middle. Disappointed ☹️

Pictured is the fish and chips, close to $30. Decent flavours and presented nicely, portion was a little small vs cost. Salad was very nice actually, chips could do with a little extra crisp or a tad more salt, and the dip was good! For close to $30, this dish may not be of value.

Have been a regular for a few years. The customer service has significantly dropped since the new ownership, the change of staff may cause its downfall. The only upside are the days that Lauren is in as she is so wonderful and always puts a smile on our faces.

Has potential but the hard surface acoustics & screeching wooden chair legs made our stay unpleasant. We visited on a Saturday & the place was teeming. Food was expensive given locale. Tasted ok. Coffee luke warm.

Long wait time, staff not enough probably just cutting the running cost. Service not good table always dirty. Food overpriced, had a beef pie taste the same as 7-11 and paid $9 for it. Coffee taste average. Conclusion: only cafe here. If you can bring your own sit in the garden find a place for picnic. Otherwise find a proper brunch

2 Unfriendly staff 2 very unfriendly staff, one told us rudely to be seated at a table, despite other tables were vacant n not reserved. Another one was rude to a disabled person. Whatever happen to a welcoming smile and accommodating needs of patrons. Other staff members are polite.

We came for late lunch around 2 pm on Monday. The restaurant was quiet. We order beef burgers and glass of wine at the counter before seated. Food was delicious and served fast. Good view from the window side table. All experience was great. But the menu was quite limited at moment.

Chicken burgers are pretty good. We also ordered some chips which were cold (probably sitting around cooling down while the burgers were being cooked)

We only had a few snacks here so that's all I can comment on. The chips were $9. They were fine, but they came with a lackluster aioli - tasted like a bland mayonnaise. The scone was $3.95 and was decent. The cake was decent too. Overall the food was fine but nothing special.

The food is definitely not worth the price. We paid $24 for fish and chips and had very little fish, another $24 for salt and pepper Calamari for very few Calamari. Such a shame as it has such great potential with that location. Will not be going again.

  • Peter Stokes

Great Beer Battered Fish & Ships, there are lots of other nice things on the menue but unfortunately I could not eat them. Friendly staff. Also do take-away. You need a day to wander the whole gardens so a good spot to have a rest & eat.

Excellent food. Staff friendly and helpful. Food brought to table quickly and with a smile. I would go back anytime. Try the village burger. Great !! Only complaint? Chairs noisy on concrete floor. A minor thing. ❤️
