If you value your animals life DO NOT TAKE THEM HERE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE. On Saturday I took my 11 week old puppy to Susan as he was suddenly paralysed. I explained that he was perfectly okay and then when I checked on him minutes later he could not move. Susan treated him for a GLUCOSE crash (took no X-rays) after over an hour of him not responding to the glucose treatment, her vigourosly rubbing his body, standing him up and moving his head - during this she said “come on buddy we can’t send you home like this” and then minutes later she discharged him and told me to monitor him over the next hour and to take him to an emergency vet if there was no change as it was now 45 mins after they had closed (we had been there for over 2 hours at this point and he was not responding AT ALL to the treatment). I asked her multiple times as well as the nurse if it could be spinal related and every single time she said it was not. When she handed me my puppy I noticed he had laboured breathing which I asked her about twice and was told it was due to the pain relief. I asked her if there was a chance he would die taking him home as I have young children to which she said “no all of his vitals are strong”. Within 30 minutes of me bringing him home he suffered an extremely HORRIFIC and painful death having multiple seizures, loosing all bodily functions and expelling an excessive amount of blood out of his mouth until he horrifically choked on it and died. This vet should be ashamed of themselves for the trauma they put my puppy and family through. I hope whatever you were all in such a hurry to get too was more important than the life of an innocent puppy. My puppy had clear spinal cord injuries that you dismissed and made WORSE by treating him for the wrong thing. X-rays should have been done. He should have been stabilised. Nothing but a cold hearted vet that is just after money and has no actual love for animals.

Never again, my advice is be careful what you sign people, you never know what it leads to Before this vet practice was sold it was the best of the best, BUT no longer, due to recent trauma from an unnecessary avoidable attempted dental extraction of a canine tooth. Went in for 2 molar extractions & that is the consent we thought we signed. ($475) First we knew was after the fact. Current practice owner admitted on the phone to not have given correct information at consult. Advised she had not attempted the surgery herself but allowed another paid vet to do this. She said it was not her fault. Had a long conversation with practice owner on the evening of the procedure to try to understand how such a mistake could eventuate. She told us the only "fix" was to go to a canine dental specialist in North Sydney at a cost of between $1200-1500 The following day we sourced a practice locally for corrective surgery ($480). He took photos of the area before starting to show us what a mess had been made & to cover himself for his own public liability insurance. Part of the jaw bone had been cut away & not left (like a little open door , as it standard for this procedure) the gums were inflamed/infected, both legs extremely bruised from the needles, AND the tooth DID NOT need to be extracted in the first place After 3 days & safe in the knowledge my payment would have cleared their bank account Box Hill Vet Practice verbally apologised for not advising at initial consult they may remove a canine & for not writing on the consent form but NOT apologised for actually performing & omitting to tell us what they did during the procedure which doesn't even go half way towards the pain caused to our poor 13+ year old GSD

My partner Sufia been visiting Box Hill vet since last 4 years. And we are so happy and grateful with their service. I always drive her and our pets (we have 3) to Box Hill vet so I had a chance to see things closely. Dr. Susan Powell has such an excellent hand for the job. Our pets never feel a thing even when vaccinating or microchipping. It's just amazing ! We simply couldn't help from becoming her fan. Before Dr. Susan Powell we used see another SENIOR VET at Box Hill.. He was an excellent veterinary surgeon too ! But we did not get much appointments with him as he retired. Since last 4 years we have been sticking to Dr. Susan and we are more than happy with her treatment and detailed inspection of our pets ! She is simply great ! She never rushes while at job always pays attention to even smallest minor details! Another great veterinary surgeon indeed and absolutely our favourite! Last but not least... even the receptionist and nurse are very nice, friendly .... at the same time they are also serious about their work and very responsible.

highly recommend these guys to everyone out there in need of an awesome vet and crew that go outta there way to help our fur babies like I mean extreme measures ....... thought I was I an pickle but these guys went outta there way to help and when test come back at 9pm still called with results to let me know .. yes at 9pm when where with our families this awesome vet is still caring for our babies and our feelings.... also there pricing was very good and was impressed with there overall service .

As a dog breeder I have been going to this vet clinic for 9 years. Unfortunately Dr Susan Powell is not as professional as the previous vet. A few issues have been misdiagnosed and she charges a consult fee for 30 second appointments. She’s cold and trying to push you out the door as quickly as possible. She gave me medication with no dosage label or information sheet for a fatty lymphoma that was actually an infected cyst. I will never take my dogs back. Terrible professionalism now.

After being a client here for 12 years I was appalled when I called asking for an emergency appt for my 11 month old toy cavoodle who was having breathing difficulties. After being asked a series of questions over the phone I was told that this was serious and that I should see a vet ASAP, but they couldn't help me. I called another vet, whom I'd never had any dealings with, and they told me to come in immediately. I used to think highly of this place, but not anymore!

Called this morning to get my cat checked because he is sick. Have been taking him here since his adoption. Got told earliest would be late Wednesday and no option to get him checked earlier. David would NEVER have turned away a sick animal. So sad that he retired and left it to someone who only sees animals as a business and not as something that need attention. It’s not like we can ask our pet family to wait when they are not well. Won’t be bothering to call again.

I have recently had the pleasure of dealing with the staff at Box Hill Veterinary clinic as a first time client. Their prices are quite reasonable and they offer a no nonsense caring service. My dog Franky has been to a few local vets with ongoing health problems and they have never quite sorted out the issue. Finally Dr Powell has managed to figure out what is going on and he is a different dog. Thanks again and I highly recommend.

My husband and I had to bring our very very unwell cat in, on recommendation from the local cattery that we use. The lady at reception was so lovely and took all of our details so efficiently. We then saw the vet (Susan) she was so calm and professional and very thorough and so honest. Unfortunately we needed to say goodbye to our cat the next day, even when Susan called with the bad news, she was very sensitive and amazing!!!

Box Hill has such an understanding and knowledgable team that go above and beyond to make sure each patient gets attended to. They have a great ethic to helping the community pet rescues, as well as adopting out homeless kittens themselves. Their pricing is the best around and they accept VetPay if you need extra time to pay off a pricey surgery. I've been with Box Hill for many years and will keep returning for many more!

Appalled at the treatment towards me and my pet! Trusted them to remove a tooth and without bothering to contact us they didn’t remove the tooth during the procedure. We raised concerns but they brushed it off. Now a second opinion has cost us $1000+ to have this tooth plus more removed. The tooth that wasn’t removed caused further disease! We trusted the vet to help our pet and they didn’t.

Our vet since 2013. Went to check our almost ten years old dog as we felt something unusual over his shoulder.. Was told he’s totally fine and he’s just old. 6 weeks later took him to a new/recommended vet. He found a bone cancer lump as big as a small football attached to his shoulder, kidney failure and another cancer lump attached to his rip-cage. A day after, our boy is gone

Highly recommend Dr Susan for her kindness, advice and care that she gives to little animals! Her fees are also very reasonable and that helps us afford quality vet care. Excellent service.. did a walk in because I just found out the dog I adopted last week isn't in the NSW microchip system (apparently microchipped in Queensland, who don't share their database with NSW and other States) Also found some vaccinations weren't up to date. All sorted out now. Thank you to Sue and the staff from Stephen and Coco the English Staffy.

We’ve been with this practice for 7 years and it was all good but things are different after this business was sold to the current owner. charged us $75 consultation fee for a 2 minute check on a small bump in the skin of my dog. How much is your hourly rate? The previous owner would never do this especially to an old customer. Will never go back again.

Fabulous, I have a new rescue pup and the team were thorough and fabulous both visits. You can tell they really love the animals and make fur parents feel welcome. I wish they were closer to take my pup their ongoing. But unfortunately it's not convenient. So have had to find one closer to home.

Reception is rude. The vet herself was rude and didn't really give us the time of day. Giving the vet your personal information you expect them to do the right thing with it, but it's clearly not a high prioty for them. Will be changing vet due to them being a gossip group.

The absolute worst vet I’ve ever been to in my life! Very unprofessional, very uninformative. The staff including the receptionist and the vet himself were so confused and aloof, I felt extremely uneasy and scared for my pets life and safety! I will never go back.
