I went to Brass Tacks today 2/17/23. My wife was supposed to place an order before I got there, but it was closer to my arrival time than expected. I pulled thru the drive thru and told them that I have a mobile order and she advised that I just placed it and may have to wait which I was fine with.. I get to the window and promptly recieved my food and then a few minutes later my coffee. The barista/worker. Then chooses to tell me next time to wait the alloted 20 minutes before coming(so they can have everything ready for me) after I already said I was fine with waiting at the speaker. I apologize. Slightly agitated but I'm understanding. So my order was vietnamese coffee avocado smash Bacon egg and cheese Sammie BT SHAKE BT SHAKE unavailable due to no ice cream subbed for something that was not comparable Bacon egg and cheese sandwich was two eggs fried easy cheese and biscuit NO BACON.. It was great but no bacon lol Avocado smash on online ordering says nothing about spice but it has red pepper flakes and my wife is super sensitive to spice Vietnamese coffee was the only this that was right.. If you're going to be nice nasty at the window at least make sure the order is right. It makes me wonder if they screwed the order to spurn me for coming too early. I'm sure when they're on point they're amazing. You just kinda missed the mark today. I was fine with waiting as I said at the speaker i didn't need a reminder to wait and add that the avocado smash is spiced, please

***Update: The business owner responded to my complaint and said they are working on displaying the prices. I appreciate they took the time to address my concern. Their coffee is very flavorful, and the coffee shop has a modern, welcoming design. ***Update: I visited this place twice, and was charged different prices for the same beverage. The lesser price is from my last visit. See pic.*** Since this place is so close to my house, I decided to go in and see how their coffee taste. I perused their menu, and ordered a cortado with almond milk. It tasted pretty good, no complaints about that, but it cost me $3.75. The cortado is about half as much in quantity as a 12oz. latte. I usually pay that much for a latte. The red flag to me about this place is that they don’t have the prices displayed. They can charge whatever, whenever, to whomever. I don’t like this at all about any type of business. Do they charge different prices for different people? Not displaying prices clearly, is a bad business practice.

Somehow the double chocolate muffin didn't taste like chocolate and was beyond dry. My girlfriend got a cinnimon roll that tasted like Pillsbury dough boy, so needless to say we were not impressed with the food. The atmosphere was extremely loud, ide say they need to put some sound deadening material along the walls or something just to help with that. The only thing that I enjoyed was my coffee. A bold dark roast that tasted far better once it cooled down a good bit. If anyone gets black coffee I suggest getting thier coffee iced. All in all might try again at another time, maybe it was just an off day, but it won't be any time soon.

Brass Tacks has become one of my go to coffee shops. Their espresso is perfect, smooth, flavorful without the burnt taste. Everything I have tried here has been delicious. My favorites are the Vietnamese Iced Coffee and the Lavender Oat Milk Latte. If you’re hungry, you have to try the soft pretzel. It’s huge and comes with cheese and mustard, breakfast sandwiches are also great. The staff is friendly and super helpful with recommendations. They have great ventilation or their kitchen is far back enough that you don’t smell food or coffee burning like you do in some places. There’s plenty of outlets for studying and some outdoor space as well. So go ahead, you won’t be disappointed!

I love this place! Mexican Mocha and Lavender are my two absolute favorite flavors for coffee, hot or iced. The Matcha latte is excellent as well. Milk alternatives are available here, which is awesome. I always get the oat milk. The consistency is perfect for coffee! I've tried the biscuit sandwich and the burrito, both with bacon and no cheese. Both were good, especially the burrito. Simple and very unassuming but good. You get a free drink if your name is the name of the day and/or if you fill up your punch card! The atmosphere is chill, the service is very friendly and efficient. My only complaint would be that the iced drinks should have less ice and more of the drink itself.

I am an avid coffee drinker so I decided to check this place out. Ordered a latte and it tasted pretty good but not the best I ever tasted. Tastes a bit burnt to me. However, came in the other day to check out their pastries. I ordered a different type of coffee plus a cinnamon pretzel. Found out that the cinnamon pretzel was $10 after she rung me up. That's a ridiculous price for a cinnamon pretzel. I understand this is somewhat a "high end" coffee shop but the pretzel was just mediocre. I think this is the reason why they don't put prices on their menus. They just surprise you after they ring you up! Props on the style of the place.

Good coffee shop that offers food and baked goods. They had muffins, scones and cinammon rolls. Food choice of burritos, waffles and a bowl. I had the white mocha iced latte and it was okay. My boyfriend had the mocha latte and he didn't end up finishing his. I made my own burrito consisting of bacon, Cheddar cheese and added avocado. It didn't have much seasoning or flavor. The tortilla was just warm and wasn't toasted or grilled. It was a decent size though. Prices were a little much. Probably would be willing to come back just because it's close to where I live. Would probably opt for the drive thru at that point.

  • Kiona Pritchard

I was super excited to come here since they have taken over the space where Starbucks used to be....but the vibe was so flat. No cozy coffee house vibes, but very blah and gray with bright yellow and black paintings on the wall. Very much a come get you coffee but please don't stay type of vibe. Sooo much potential completely lost. Regardless, I absolutely love the coffee and the guy with two different colored eyes behind the counter was super nice. I guess I'll just have to drive to Green Cove springs to the other brass tacks coffee location if I want those cozy coffee shop feelings.

  • shondele morales

I went to the southside location yesterday through the drive thru. I ordered a aquaberry backfist. She told me they were out of blackberry. I said that’s fine I can just put raspberry or another flavor in there. And then I asked her what other fruity flavors they had (she was not friendly and had wasn’t even trying to be helpful or courteous)and she said we only make the drink one way. Like whatttt? They are a coffee shop how do they only make their drinks one way? That doesn’t make sense.

I go to coffee shops to study and I was not able to do that comfortably here. The seating is all very hard and cold. The only tables near outlets are high tops with no backs on the seats. The seating outside was more comfortable but I had to come back inside because my laptop ran out of battery. I probably won't come back even to hang out because of the physically cold and uncomfortable environment (it's cold in here and the seats are all metal with no cushions). The staff is very friendly and I appreciate the vegan options.

  • George S

Great place for coffee and non coffee lovers alike. The cinnamon roll was one of the best cinnamon rolls I've ever had and my pumpkin spice latte was way better than other coffee shops. It had more flavor. They have teas, coffee, coffee drinks, non coffee drinks, and food. Their milks options are dairy milk, almond milk, or oat milk. My wife got a latte with oat milk, beet, dandelion, and a few other things. Very interesting but she liked it. Definitely recommend checking this place out and supporting the local business.

  • Ray G

First time visiting I loved the vibe here. Everyone was studying or having coffee talks. The we’re out of waffles at the time so I got the egg breakfast it was very good! It normally comes with avocado but I didn’t want any. The blended matcha was 10 out of 10! You could taste the matcha flavor and it was such a refreshing drink to have! I added simple syrup and it was perfectly sweetened!

I used to go here years ago but had a few too many bad customer service experiences for my comfort. Many of my friends said the customer service has always been super meh and it’s gotten slightly better so I decided maybe I was wrong. In turn I had such an awful interaction with the person on register. Rude and inconvenienced from start to finish. Seemed so annoyed I had questions even though I’m also a barista and was just trying to get a feel for the shop. Won’t be coming here ever again. The coffee was fine.

  • Candee Zarah

I love this place! Finally somewhere else to go on this side of town besides Starbucks! The coffee is great and they offer great flavors. The staff is wonderful and the set up inside is nice. My only recommendation is to put the low tables near the wall so that people don't have to sit at the high tables to charge laptops. It also wouldn't hurt to get one or two comfortable chairs for those who may want to just sit and read a book. Overall totally worth visiting a few times and trying a few different drinks.

  • Elijah McNevich

This place was really quaint and open. It’s not the biggest coffee shop out there so I can imagine it being pretty busy in the morning hours but the service and coffee was amazing. I bought a large drip with steamed creamed and maple syrup. The fact that they have maple syrup makes it a 5 star automatically. The coffee was well crafted and balanced as well. Would 10/10 recommend if you are in the Jacksonville area.

I like to get my daily dose of coffee here. The employees are always so friendly and it makes me feel welcome every time I come. The coffee flavors are also very unique and there are so many different items on the menu to try. You can also get free coffee through punch cards and if your name is the "name of the day" on the blackboard sign in the front.

Great little place! The staff are friendly and knowledgeable, especially the owner/manager who is serious about his coffee! Not much in the way of food, but there are options beyond just pastries. They also sell beer and wine in the evening. Hope they stay around for a while! This location is one of those where most places don't last a year, but they seem to be doing well and their social media is on point, so fingers cross they break the curse!

I've never had a bad experience here. I interviewed the founders a few years ago while studying journalism and I'm so happy to see their business doing so well! The only small complaint I have is the drive thru blocks a lot of parking and driving around. Keep up the good work!

Today was my first time visiting. The workers are so friendly and helpful and helped me find a yummy coffee. I ended up getting a thin mint cold latte. It was perfect not too much mint. I also got scrambled eggs with cheese, a side of avocado, bacon and fruit. This was a lot of food for $7ish!! The bacon was perfect not too crispy. Everything was delicious! I’ll definitely be back. Oh and they have a drive thru which is an awesome bonus!

  • Lindsey Jo

I love this place and while there's nothing wrong with it PER SE, I think it could be even better! I love the decor but the chairs are so uncomfortable, and I'd love to hang out and study or chat with a friend but the music is almost always extremely loud. These things are turn offs that stop me from visiting but keep me in the drive through. Again, love the coffee. Love the crew. But these things are keeping me from being IN love. :(

  • Kristina Dukhin

I've visited this coffee shop a few times. Each time I left very happy. They have a really great honey lavender latte. I've tried it both hot and iced and it's equally as good. I tried one of their breakfast sandwiches (bacon, egg, cheddar, and chives) but instead of it being on their biscuits, they made it on their waffles. It was AMAZING. The waffles were so fluffy. The decor is very interesting and the staff is super friendly.

  • Sarah R

Stopped by here after an early Quest appointment and it did not disappoint! The sweet and salty iced coffee was perfect and I got the lean and green Sammie with bacon to follow and it was equally delicious. I wish I lived closer so I could enjoy it every week. Also, I thought the drive thru was very convenient. The girl that helped me was sweet.

Stopped into Brass Tacks as we were on this side of town. Got an Iced Americano and Iced Coffee (given cold brew.) The americano was one of the best that I’ve ever had made. It was strong (not too watered down) and the taste notes of the coffee really shined through. I’m guessing they used the Ethiopian Yirgacheffe that they have on bean list because it had some floral notes. Again, delicious! Cold brew was also well-brewed.

  • Chace

Pros: The coffee I got was good, although a little sweet for vietnamese coffee for my taste, but still good quality Cons: Drive thru takes a while if that bugs ya, keep it in mind Burrito was made with eggs on one side, and additional ingredients on the other, so I ate tortilla and eggs for the first half, then beans and cheese. Also they forgot to put bacon in it as well . Nice employees, bummer about the food though.

  • Jenna Hassell

Brass Tacks Coffee Co. is an amazing hidden gem on the Southside! In a sea of chain restaurants, this local coffee shop is giving us something we were desperately missing on the Southside! Great coffee, cool vibes and delicious breakfast sandwiches and pastries. They also are a great community partner, volunteering and giving away coffee at several Jax library events. Everyone needs to support this awesome coffee shop!

  • lama musa

Love this coffee shop!! Besides having a drive thru which is a major plus I forgot to mention I wanted oat milk with my drink and the lady at the drive thru was just so sweet and insisted to make the drink that I wanted. She didn't make me feel guilty at all and was just amazing. So glad I found this location and the coffee is AMAZING! I will absolutely be coming back especially it being so close to everything.

  • Sean Kerno

I've been waiting for a local coffee spot on the Southside and this hits the spot. They have a drive-thru and are pretty fast. There is a steep drop leaving the drive thru so don't go fast. The vibe is pretty good inside. Even though they just opened there have been plenty of people each time I've gone. My go to drink has been an Iced Honey Vanilla Latte and its been great. Definitely my go to Southside spot.

  • Anthony Mitchell

The biscuit and gravy was very good, almost like it was home cooked, I'll tell you this it's way better than McDonald's or Metro Diner. I also had a Pumpkin Spice latte, and boy let me tell you something, that's the best cup of coffee I've ever had, better than Starbucks. I'll definitely be comin'back to try everything else.

This coffee shop is hands down the best in Jacksonville. My husband is driving there now 30 minutes from where we live to grab us lunch (vegan options) and drinks because he was just feeling like it. We know there's closer shops, but they will never compare. I love that they have seasonal flavor options too. Great atmosphere and staff is always so nice. Take advantage of their punch cards for drinks!

  • Heather Teschner

I really want to like this place. The food is good. The lavender sage tea is delicious. However, I have tried and failed to get a biscuit 5 times in a row. In fact, I have gone here 8 times, and only once was I able to order what I wanted without compromising for something else on the menu due to lack of supply. I can’t be the only person this has happened to. This seems like a silly business model.

  • Hadi Moghaddam

My favorite cafe in Jacksonville! During my one week stay at this town, I could not find any place better than here. The staff are unbelievably friendly and nice. Coffee and pastries are good. They have a lovely outdoor seating that made it a perfect spot for me during the 2020 pandemic! Highly recommend it to anyone trying to work/read for a couple of hours in a peaceful and lovely place.

This is our favorite coffee spot in JAX. My go to is a Mexican Mocha. They have lots of unique coffee choices and fairly regularly changing specials. They have a nice variety of food options as well like breakfast sandwiches and Buffalo chicken grilled cheese on a waffle. They also have a punch card system for their drinks so make sure you get one on your first visit.

  • Maddison Onuska

I like this place a lot, but the time it takes at the drive thru is ridiculous. With 2 cars in the drive through I shouldn’t have to wait 10+ minutes to get my coffee. Makes me avoid them if in a hurry just wanting to pick up a quick coffee because you are at least 10 minutes deep and that’s when it’s not busy….

A nice little coffee joint with a pleasant atmosphere and reasonable prices. Their menu also offers much more than just coffee and snacks with full on breakfast and lunch items. The location is a bit difficult to get into just because of the way the entrance for that shopping center is set up. Will be visiting again. The White Pumpkin was killer.

  • Nicole Thomas

Best coffee and matcha in town! I could easily drink their lavender matcha drink every single day of the week. I also love their biscuit breakfast sandwiches. And the employees are always wonderful! Stop going to Starbucks, go here instead. You will thank me later. Talk about the best of the best. The staff are some of the best and friendliest people I’ve ever met. The espresso is top notch, and the coffee flavors are superb, well thought out, and unique. The food is also amazing! Come for great coffee, stay for even greater vibes!

Finally made the visit and so glad I did. Modern coffee shop with a warm welcome feel. Large delicious portions and perfectly crafted coffee to start any day right. This is a great place and when you are on southside make sure you stop in. There is a drive thru and hours are relatively extended for other shops in the area! Delicious!

I had a sugar free decaf caramel/vanilla latte with oat milk. It was delicious. I like the skateboarding theme of the place. They even have Tony Hawk Pro Skater style t-shirts. How cool is that?! I didn’t have any food but I probably will try it next time. Coffee came out super fast too. A big plus is that they have a drive thru.

What a nice coffee shop with one of the happiest baristas I've ever met! And they are open until 8 which allowed us to sit outside with the dog and relax in the coolness of evening. Four different drinks total and every one was pleased with their order. Unique options on drink menu. They also provided a cup of water for the dog!

Amazing products for great prices. Not your run of the mill hipster coffee place- which is a nice change! It’s surf/skater themed and attracts all kinds of customers. The food is delicious, the coffee is creative and ALWAYS good. On top of that, the staff is WONDERFUL!! I come here 1-2 times a week and always have the best time!

  • Mike Kehoe

First time here. Very clean inside. There's a drive thru as well. Awesome smiling staff, everyone wearing masks, it's also posted on the front door to wear a mask, they are provided if you don't have one. They made a delicious recommendation for my wife, I just drink black coffee. Will return. There's outside seating too.

  • Kay Rodriguez

This is easily one of my favorite coffee shops in the city. Part of that is definitely due to the drive thru, but honestly, they’re products are really good! They’re matcha is probably the best that I’ve had in the city. It’s super smooth. Highly recommend trying it here first if you haven’t had it anywhere else.

  • Lora-Vie Howell

Their waffles are so delicious! Husband approved of their coffee and I approve of their tea. The barista, I didn't catch her name but she was very helpful to us newcomers and she even knew how to make an iced london fog latte using their duchess grey tea for me. Amazing place, we are definitely coming back!

Been here many times, and without fail the milk is steamed too hot. I always have to wait at least 8-10 minutes before my latte is drinkable. Their locally roasted beans are delicious, but the milk is too hot. Will give 5 stars once my latte is steamed properly...

Coffee is always amazing, never burning off my tongue or bitter! Food is great as well, super thankful to have a local coffee shop with super sweet staff and great coffee selection! And the atmosphere for dining in is lovely as well. :)

The coffee here was really great and I liked how there was plenty of seating if you wanted to sit down to study. I also ordered a breakfast sandwich which was good. Overall decent coffee shop

The parking lot where this place is located is a nightmare… an engineering error. The coffee is bitter and not worth the trouble. Called them to let them know of my recent unsatisfied purchase. No answer. No voicemail.

This was a good find. Coffee was good, friendly staff. Had the Island Boy coffee.

Hats off to you. Internet not working and you are still taking walk in order and drive thru orders with a smile. The breakfast burrito was amazing and the coffee was good. What a rare find in Jax.

The stuff seemed really rude on the day that I went and I didn’t really like my coffee or pastry. I probably won’t come back to this one. The AC was extremely loud so it was super hard to read.

Daughter in law just brought me one of your pumpkin spice lattes…, oh my sooo much better than another place which I won’t mention. Lol

Jacksonville’s coffee scene is growing, and this is the latest addition. They have nitro cold brew, and all of the other usual beverages. This is definitely a place worth checking out.

Staff was courteous. Service was great. Latte was amazing. This is definitely saved to my “go to” list of place I will return to.

Pretty neat cafe. More than enough space for those who like to get stuff inside a cafe. Very reasonably priced compared to other cafes. Clean A+++. Great service.

Great place but when the girls work the front they always have a nasty attitude and no manners. Sad.
