Things have really changed at this clinic. Dr. Fredlund is still an amazing veterinarian. We followed her from a previous clinic to Brintnell 5 years ago. All told, we've been seeing Dr. Fredlund with our pets for over a decade. However, my last few interactions with the staff and other veterinarians has been negative. The last few times my pets have needed in person care, I've been told they have no availability for several days. After I pointed this pattern out over the summer, when my cat was sick, they did call back to tell me they could fit him in, despite having told me 15 minutes prior to seek emergency veterinary services elsewhere. Add that to the cost of services now, where an appointment for medical issue is 106.00 to start while other vets are between 60.00-85.00 for the same appointment, it's no longer financially feasible for us to use this clinic. Our pets have illnesses that frequently require visits, tests, and medication. To charge more money to see a sick pet, when similar services are rendered as at an annual exam, makes already expensive care beyond our reach. Coupling that with Dr. Fredlund's reduced schedule, where we can rarely see her without waiting a minimum of 3-5 days or as long as a month, it just doesn't make sense to continue paying a premium fee to bounce between other doctors who don't know our pets. Lastly, when my cat was ill last month, I had difficulty pilling him, nothing I tried including: treats, paste treats, pill pockets or pilling was working. When I called the vet looking for alternatives, I was told there was no other antibiotic that would work and no way to have it compounded to liquid form. I resolved to try pilling him again, and of course, it didn't work. Two days after that I had a follow up call where suddenly this medication could be compounded to liquid but would cost around 70.00. I was also told I could switch him to a bland diet or GI, but when I reminded the technician I was speaking to that he also has Kidney Disease, she told me that she would have to look into whether that was safe and that she would call me back. There was no call back, no followup after that whatsoever. Jasper never finished the medication because we weren't willing to continue stressing him out. He ended up recovering on his own. That was a real let down. Two stars for quality of care recieved in the past and for Dr. Fredlund.

I've read all the reviews from good to worst and I thought I would give this clinic the benefit of the doubt. We were looking for a friendly, trusting, respectful, reliable vet in the north end to transfer to. After over 40 minutes past our first appointment time waiting in the room to be seen, this visit included that we apparently have a "vicious" 4 pound dog that has to have a ton of work done which would cost us $$$$, including needing to take classes because of her behavior. The veterinarian also was claiming her teeth are rotting and needs surgery done, she is over weight and includes wanting our dog to be on medication if she visited again,etc etc. Our dog has NEVER bit anyone or any vet before and no, our dogs previous vet never told us that her teeth were rotting and all this other stuff ... like what the heck??... The veterinarian was extremely cold, very judgemental and did not know how to properly handle a small dog. She also insisted that it wasn't about the them making money and trying to label our dog. (I read a review about them having a car sales vibe and I 100% agree!) This was the worst experience our dog has ever had at a vet clinic in her life! The veterinarian never tried to build trust or comfort our dog (this was our first visit) and proceeded to poke harshly and handle our dog improperly, which lead our dog to get very scared and snapped at the veterinarian(did not bite). Today we finally were able to find a phenomenal Veterinarian Clinic which my husband found. Noted, our dog never snapped at this vet at hermitage clinic, the veterinarian at that clinic was phenomenal! She took her time and respected our dog, earned her trust. Long story short, all of what this clinic said was a hoax. Because our new Vet (2nd opinion) said it was no where near what these people were saying. I would never trust any pet or future pets being looked after by Brintnell Veterinary Hospital, nor any future surgeries. On top of that, I have asked them twice to transfer my file to our new clinic and they never had. I have told them that they were extremely unprofessional and we are very disappointed. Anyone thinking of going to this Vet, Please beware and do not make the same mistake as I did by going here!

After moving to Edmonton, we were looking for a new vet for our Border Collie Romeo and we found Brintnell as it was in our area and seemed good based off reviews. Our dog didn't love vet appointments but tolerated them - until we came here. After the first few visits we could see this relationship was not going to work for us. Romeo developed an extreme fear of Dr. Fredlund. She would sneak in the room and not look or go near my dog, triggering him because she wasn't acting normally and he was already in a scary environment which made him behave worse then he normally did. She said he is aggressive (which we knew wasn't true, he was just scared of her) and she would frequently refuse to touch him without sedation. They told us we had to buy anti-anxiety meds for his appointments so we did, even though we preferred to not have to drug him up and they were expensive. Still on many occasions, they refused to work with Romeo to make him more comfortable. I decided enough is enough because we needed a vet who will take care of our dog when he needs it. I once went in with Romeo limping and they refused to examine or treat him. At this point, my dog is injured and we need to do what needs to be done to help him. After discussing switching vets with them, Dr. Fredlund told me my dog will never be treated without meds/sedation, that he is extremely aggressive and that no other vet will be successful with him. Well...we have recently switched vets and we are so happy we did. No more anti-anxiety meds/sedation, the vet walks in confidently and treats him while working with Romeo’s new-found fear of vets to build a relationship with him. As an added bonus they are much less expensive as well. I have never seen a vet’s behaviour like we did at Britnell, which is why I will not be recommending Brintnell Veterinary Hospital to those considering. If your pet has a fear of vets then this is not the place to go. The people that work there are very nice but this vet experience was very disappointing and I only wish we had switched sooner.

We have tried many vets over the last ten years, but we've finally found the perfect fit with Dr. Fredlund and the staff at Brintnell Vet. We have a very fearful dog of people, so it was a struggle bringing him to vet clinics as he would bark and not let any vet near him for exams. Our previous vet prescribed him a medication for his behavioural "quirks" - without really understanding his needs. The medication didn't help at all and we didn't feel that the vet was committed to working with us to help us positively work on Gus' behaviour. From our first vet appointment with Dr. Fredlund, she seemed genuinely interested in Gus' triggers and was determined to help find an appropriate medication to help settle his mind so we could work on our training without him becoming too overstimulated to work through his triggers. Dr. Fredlund is so patient with Gus and has taught us an invaluable trick, "chin", to help Gus learn to be comfy with vet exams. He loves Dr. Fredlund and has gotten to the point where he can be fully examined by her now, even if we aren't in the room. He is still a little fearful at times, but we feel much better equipped now to help set him up for success at his vet appointments. The staff overall at Brintnell Vet are the first clinic we've been to who are fully aware of Gus' fears at every visit and respect his space, while doing their best to make him feel comfortable in the clinic. Everyone is so friendly and professional, and genuinely care about the wellbeing of the animals entering their clinic. Thank you for everything you do! :)

I brought in my Giant Alaskan Malamute to Brintnell Veterinary Hospital on December 28th, 2022 through the advise from a Home Vet Visit from Wellness Home Vet and am Completely Satisfied with their expertise and services. My dog (Scorpius) has been unable to walk due to inflammation and injury and weighs 92kg (202.83lbs) and had to bring him in on a stretcher. They were very compassionate with us as he is very reactive and difficult to treat. They made us feel comfortable and addressed his needs, although difficult to x-ray due to his size, with proper dosage of medications and referrals appropriate for him. I can't thank them enough for their support and guidance as this is a difficult and crucial decision we needed to make due to his quality of life. They have been awesome and extremely resourceful in suggestions for medical devices and rehabilitation options we didn't realize were available to him during our emotional and chaotic situation. If any fur parent out there is nervous, anxious, or hesitant about their pets weight and reactivity at the vet, this place will put you and your pet at ease making the vet visit not so traumatizing. 5 Stars from our family to them!

After having to see a random vet this weekend that gave poor service, I realized how lucky my pup and I are to have the staff at Brintnell Vet Hospital as our regular care team. Whenever I bring my dog Tula in the staff are genuinely excited to see her. They are so caring and sympathetic towards any issues that may arise. One thing I really like is that after a visit they write out a report of everything that they told me over the phone. As most know it is sometimes a little overwhelming trying to remember everything the vet says when your pet is not feeling well. So to have it all written out to refer back to is super helpful. This clinic also makes sure to do follow up calls to see if how your pet is doing with their medications and treatment after the visit. Whenever I call, I have never been turned away for an appointment or made to feel like I am being a bother It truly is amazing to have a vet clinic that cares jut as much about my dog as much as I do.

I have been seeing Dr. Fredlund for over a decade. She is the absolute most wonderful vet. Just one of the many, many things I appreciate about her is that she is always very clear about what is necessary vs what would be beneficial if you can afford it. She understands that many people are not in a position to spend thousands of dollars on pet care, and will not encourage you to do extra testing unless you are financially able. When Dr. Fredlund had been unavailable, we have seen the other doctors who are also so wonderful and compassionate. My tiny son faced a number of complex health issues in the last 2 years of his life, and every single person I interacted with at the hospital treated both him & me like family. He passed away 2 days ago and I have no idea how I will ever recover, but I do know that neither of us would have made it this far without the wonderful staff at Brintnell.

Dr Jocelyn Fredlund is an intelligent and caring doctor. Our first visit was an emergency. Our puppy(Kiwi) had eaten a mushroom from the backyard and started to lose consciousness. After being dismissed at a Different and Unrelated vet office who did not take this seriously- we went to Brintnell Vet and saw Dr Fredlund. We had no appointment, we had no file, and were a frantic mess. Her and the staff acted quickly, ran all the tests and found out Kiwi was experiencing kidney failure and her glucose levels were at a dangerously low & life threatening level. Dr F had an IV in her immediatly, she called the Guardian ahead of time and forwarded our file explaining everything to them prior to us arriving. When we got to Guardian they had admitted her immediately and smoothly thanks to Dr Fredlund and her staff. Our girl Kiwi is now healthy, happy, and 10 months old thanks to this office.

its upsetting that you have to be a client there to buy food from there. this is the only place in the city that had my cats food & they refused to give it to me unless i paid for one of their services as well (person on the phone said “unless you bring your cat in for vaccines or bloodwork or something we cant give it to you” i understanding vet clinics have policies but knowing youre the only vet in the city that has this food and refuse it because im not a client is upsetting. i explained this is the only food my cat is able to eat without pooping and puking blood (ibd) and did not care. also told them its the last bag she’ll need till we put her down and she cant last while we have to order it. did not care. dont be greedy, were all just trying to look out for our pets. you guys would make more money if you expanded your policies a little bit.

We take both of our cats here and we absolutely love all of the staff at the clinic. Dr. Fredlund is incredibly patient and kind and always takes the time to listen to our hundreds of over bearing cat parent questions. She gives us full explanations to her responses and always makes us feel reassured after our visits. Our older cat had some dental work done here in September and our kitten was just spayed at Brintnell Hospital last week. Both times they were up front with quotes and explained the procedures thoroughly. Dr. Fredlund always calls us as soon as the cats wake up from anesthetic and the techs will text us pictures of them while we wait to be able to pick them up. I have endless good things to say about Brintnell Veterinary Hospital and Dr. Fredlund. Happy to have found such trustable care for our pets in our area.

This clinic has the most incredible staff. I had been buying cat food here during the pandemic as we has just moved to the north side and the staff has always been so helpful. Unfortunately, the first time they got to meet my sassy girl in May her kidney disease took a turn for the worse and we had to make the heart breaking decision to send her over the rainbow bridge. They were so compassionate and caring. They took care of Ceecee like they had known her for years. Thank you for making a difficult time a little bit more bearable. The staff really took care of us, we received plenty of helpful information, a hand written card and they even made a donation in her honor. I am very grateful to have such a caring and helpful vet to take our new kitten to!

Brought my dog here for a checkup, she is new to us but her documents from the rescue agency showed that she’d had her spay and initial vaccines done there. The staff were amazing. Our pup is super timid and they had her completely at ease, even on the scale. The vet we saw was excellent. The techs were also great, one even had a video of her saved on her phone from her first visit as a pup with the rescue because she was so cute, almost a year ago. They clearly LOVE animals, it was really heartwarming. I appreciate that it’s a no fear practice so they’re not pushing treatments that make it a stressful experience for you pet. It’s not the closest vet office for us, but is totally worth the drive and we’ll be back. Would definitely recommend.

Beautiful staff in a beautiful office. Dr. Fredlund and her staff are awesome every single time, every single way. They just accommodated a last minute, urgent appointment for my dog without hesitation. My dog and I were both greeted by name when we walked in, and we were ushered into the examination room almost immediately. All staff is compassionate and truly cares about the pets that come in. I never feel they are trying to up-sell different products, as I have found with many other clinics, and I trust the treatment plan provided. They even administered the first dose of medication for me before we left to make it easier on me. Great experience every time I go - and my pooch is 100% recovered.

The techs/receptionists are super friendly and helpful, and of course the doctors are too. The facility, environment, and vibes there are amazing. I take my cat there all the time. I’ve personally never had any bad experiences or issues with anyone there or at the place… although the prices are quite expensive and the wait times are a little long. This is my first vet I’ve been to since I am a first time furbaby owner so I’m not sure how much it should or shouldn’t cost! Just seems a little pricy :) overall very good experiences there and will continue to bring my furbaby there! I personally book with Dr Lynnette Carlson, she’s very professional and patient with my cat and I like her vibes!

Have been taking my two cats to Dr. Ho since the early fall and her and all the techs/front staff have been absolutely amazing. Our cats have had an assortment of issues (needing urine work, weight loss, scooting problems) and Dr Ho always explains it in a simple easy to understand way, and never immediately jumps to meds, tests or any other unneeded money grabbing ways that can so often be associated with vets. They always call a few days later to check in as well! Have recommended them to a friend who was going to a vet that was not fixing any issues for her dog, and after 1 appointment with Dr Ho things are looking better! I can not recommend them enough for you fur babies!

We took our 1 year old rescue puppy into Brintnell Vet for the first time after reading a bunch of positive reviews. We were extremely pleased with all the staff. The vet techs were all so polite and respectful. Dr. Ho was amazing with our dog. She is very knowledgeable. She never once pressured us into anything, she presented our options with her professional perspective and let us decide what we wanted to do. She was very gentle and personable with our dog. It's clear how much she loves animals. Overall our experience was excellent. The clinic is very clean. I would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a new vet. I absolutely love the staff and environment. I was recommended by a friend. My kitten at the time was treated amazing after having a disappointed vet visit elsewhere. They treat us like family, answers every concern I have, they are gentle, my kitty won't let us clip her back nails, and the vet does it with fast and ease. During the pandemic they took her in, did what they had to and brought her out and my kitty looked not so happy, but like there was no problems. I will definitely recommend friends and family to this vet clinic. Every visit I feel at ease and like there will be no issues, which feels amazing. Thank you for being so friendly and caring.

I had the best experience here! My cat wasn’t eating as much as before and I was super worried. The staff and reception squeezed me in to make sure my cat was okay and they were all so kind. The Dr was amazing as well. Very transparent with the service. I was overly worried about my cat and they assured me extra testing wasn’t needed whereas some places will try and give extra for payout. They thought about the well being of my cat and her comfort. They also checked up on her after our visit to make sure our plan of care was still successful. I’ll def be coming here every year for my cats checkup. I really recommend coming here!

Unfortunately on September 7th 2021 we said goodbye to our sweet baby boy Askum. Our hearts will be broken for a long time. But the staff at brintnell vet were awesome so caring, respectful, loving and took all of our concerns very serious and helped as much as they could. They made askum's experience their very comfortable and caring. We will refer brintnell vet to anyone who is looking for a loving, caring, respectful vet to take their fur babies. My Marley had not been eating or drinking or passing anything so I took him in, they gave me my options and we did an X-ray to find he had a huge mass that resembled cancer, symptoms matched prognosis and from there I was given more options. Ultimately, my little guy crossed the rainbow bridge but I was appreciative of the support and empathy the staff and vet gave us. They also made a donation in Marleys name to Edmonton Humane Society. Yes it was costly going through diagnostic testing and imaging as well as the cost of euthanasia but we received top care and support. Thank you again.

I have a rescue that came from a traumatic situation and doesn't let anyone touch her. The home vet recommended Britnell Vet for her to get sedation in order to get vaccinations, exam etc. Dr Carlson and Jamie were so so patient and gentle and won Sage's trust! Sedating her went smoother than I could have possibly imagined. She wasn't anxious or traumatized and they alleviated my anxiety as well! It was also very affordable for how much we packed into one appointment. We'll be going back for her dental work in the future. Thanks Britnell for the wonderful experience!

I'm so happy that we've found this vet clinic for our Goldendoodle! Highly recommend! The staff are super friendly and Dr. Fredlund is amazing. My dog is always super excited and happy whenever we visit the clinic and she loves the staff there! The procedures and tests we've gone through here have been quick and painless (for all parties) and you can tell that everyone there genuinely cares. We have been following Dr. Fredlund for a long time and would be willing to drive across the city to see her. We know that all of our fur babies (Cats and Dogs) are in good care with her. She provides top notch service. She explains things in easy to understand terms and is patient with us. She is also good for a laugh! Her team is growing and everyone deserves a 5 star rating. I can not give this place enough stars! It was time for my best buddy of 13 years to cross the rainbow bridge. I was heart broken. A day that every pet owner dreads. Every single person at this clinic made that experience as amazing as it possibly can be. They are so compassionate and empathetic. I was not rushed and all options were presented. And when the final moments came they were respectful and kind. The clinic is extremely clean and has a very calming "spa" like feel. I highly reccomend the staff and this clinic!

My cat Luna had dental surgery, they know how Luna is when she goes to see the vet she is very very difficult to deal with. They treated Luna with the outmost respect and they still loved her! After a long, hard battle of trying to find a good fit for my Rottweiler, this vet was by far the best I've encountered. Took my concerns for my dogs allergies and health into consideration, helped me understand and make a plan going forward, and my dog, who normally is terrified of vets, was all too happy to enter and have fun with the ladies and vet Jocelyn! She also talked to me like a friend, and not like a doctor, which also made the experience so much easier!

First time coming to this vet clinic as my dog was having some limping issues and pain. The veterinary staff were super accommodating to get us in that day and super friendly. The vet diagnosed him with just an exam and provided medication and he is 100% better. We needed more medication and live a bit far out, and they went out of their way to help get it to us closer. Appreciate the service and friendliness of all staff. Will be back with all our pets!

So excited for the most awesome vet, Dr Jocelyn Fredlund, to open her new clinic. I have followed this lady over many years with all my pets. I have long appreciated her dedication to staying current with industry knowledge, commitment to her patients and always taking time to explain things to me. The level of compassion she demonstrates combined with her skill as a vet make me feel confident recommending her to everyone I know without hesitation.

Brintnell is SUPER out of the way for us (35 min drive), but we had been to a vet much closer and received a fraction of the advice we got from Brintnell. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable and easy to talk to. The pricing was fair and we felt as though our cat, Dahlia, was in good hands. We left feeling relieved as we finally had a proper diagnosis for our cat's health concerns as well as everything necessary to help her heal. Thanks, ladies!

Adopted a puppy at four months from Edmonton humane society. Turned out he had fairly major issues with his knees and hips by the time he was one. Dr Fredlund has been great at helping us through the surgery, recovery and rehab of our wonderful dog. Wouldn't take him anywhere else. She's always made us feel informed and made our nervous dog feel safe and happy when visiting. Congratulations on opening the new clinic!

Switched over from a different clinic on the west end. Saw Dr. Ho for my cat and loved talking to her. She may seem young but very knowledgeable and helpful in answering all my questions. She took her time to reassure me whenever I had a concern about my cat. Also love the staff at the vet. They are also very friendly and helpful with any concerns you have. I would recommend the clinic to others in a heartbeat.

I had the pleasure of hearing about Brintnell Vet clinic by a close friend, and it was a pleasant experience to say the least. There was no pressure to align with the ideals of any persons, and all matters were dealt with in a kind and professional manner. Leaving the clinic that day- I truly felt that the staff treated my dog as if he were their own. I recommend this Clinic to anyone who has pets at home :)

Dr Fredlund is absolutely amazing!!!! Actually sat on the floor and fed my puppy treats while she talked with me. Took so much time to discuss many topics. She was completely respectful and professional regarding topics we may disagree on and was so personable. I can’t imagine that there is a better vet anywhere. The most incredible staff ❤️ They were extremely patient and attentive. They made an effort to keep me informed on every little thing that was going on. They sent me text messages and pictures . Explained all of the post-op steps and what to watch for in perfect detail. Mika loved everyone there, and the heating pad was her favorite part this is absolutely going to be my go to place for my pets.

We were amazed at the level of professionalism and care that they provided to our cat. With the whole COVID situation putting a lot of stress on people, they really went out of their way to make it as easy and friendly as possible. Our cat had to get some teeth extracted, and to get his vaccinations up to date. Truly the best experience with any vet we have had before. Thank you all! :)

This vet is very thorough with their communication, which I really enjoy. Our dog has used their surgery services twice and our trust with them has only grown. They are really great to deal with and go above and beyond for the animals and the owners! They even text you a picture of your animal when they are waking up from surgery. They also were there for us during some scary moments!

We take our baby Banner there to get his shots and he just got sedated for his nail trim!! Loves the girls there, and actually wags his tail as he runs in!! Always friendly on the phone, advice and estimates ... even recommend me waterless cat shampoo for my old cat! Super close & we have definitely found our forever vet!!! ❤️❤️❤️Would recommend 100%!!!

As I went through the hardest time of my life, I was so unhappy with my old vet clinic so I switched. Best decision ever. so comforting and professional. Once receiving this card in the mail as a donation from Whiskers to the humane Society made my heart happy. Everyone at Brintnell Vet is amazing. Going to the vet used to be a stressful concept for me and my pets, but not anymore. It is very comforting to know that every time we make an appointment, our pets will be under the care of Dr. Fredlund and her entire team. We are very lucky to live so close to such a fantastic group of professionals.

Dr. Fredlund and team are all wonderful and extremely professional. This clinic is on the opposite end of the city from us, and we happily make the drive to see them. They are kind, compassionate and truly care about what they do. Our pets have always been happy to go to the clinic, and we are so grateful for all their hard work.

I switched to this clinic from VCA when my vet moved and opened this clinic. It is such a good environment to bring your family pet to. From reception, to vet techs to the vet herself. I will always bring my pets to them! Thanks Britney and Jocelynn! And the pets all say thank you as well for keeping them all so healthy!

I had to take my foster dogs here for their vaccines and spay/neuter surgeries. I started coming here during COVID and I’ve never had an issue with their policy. In fact, it was one of the most organized veg clinics I’ve been to during COVID. If I lived closer, I’d bring my own resident dogs here for their vet visits.

Dr. Jocelyn is amazing! We brought our kitty for her first vet visit and we were so happy with the treatment of everyone at Britnell vet. The receptionist, vet tech, and vet were all so friendly and welcoming. Dr. Jocelyn explained everything and listened to our concerns. We will be bringing all our future pets here!!

Amazing. My vet of 20 years couldn't accommodate an emergency exam for my pup who was in pain when I called first thing in the morning. I called Britnell and they took him immediately. The staff were amazing and my pup seemed so comfortable with them. They took such good care of him. I will be using them from now on

I brought my daughter's new kitten, Zuma, in today with an injured paw. Dr. Jocelyn made everything easy and comfortable for him and my 7 year old! The staff involved my daughter and made it an amazing experience for her! I couldn't be happier with everyone who helped us at Brintell Veterinary Hospital!

This vet centre is one of the few willing to accommodate my horse sized GSD. They were polite, professional, knowledgeable, and way above the line of duty to accompany me and the dog. They have all my future business, and I wouldn’t hesitate a second to recommend them to anyone else looking for a vet!

So thankful for the staff at Brintnell Veterinary Hospital. From the moment I called I was treated with a friendly receptionist Michelle, then Dr. Ho, Dr. Fredlund, Chelsea and anyone else that helped with my dog Tucker's surgery. Your professionalism, knowledge and kindness will never be forgotten.

We drive from the west end to come to this office. Not only are the vets highly knowledgeable but all of the staff from the techs to the front desk truly care about your pet and want what is best for them! They are kind compassionate and take their time to make sure your pet is well taken care of.

As a new pet owner, going to Brintnell was my first vet experience. Everyone was so kind and professional. They treated our cat so well and were so excited to have him. They are quick to squeeze us in if it’s urgent, and always follow up with a call or text to check on us and the cat.

Took my Foster pup in for his shots. This was his first time at the vet. The wonderful ladies did everything to make sure he had a positive experience. He had to be carried in but he was happy after and walked out on his own. Thank you so much for your patience and care for him.

Dr. Tracy Ho is my favourite. She is smart, thorough, and very informative. She treated us like we expected, and we learned a lot about our cat. I highly recommend seeing her. The clinic is clean and pleasant looking as well.
