****UPDATE: AFTER CALLING THE NUMBER PROVIDED BELOW I SPOKE TO A VERY HELPFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE REP NAMED LOUIE - VERY ATTENTIVE AND UNDERSTANDING AND AGREED TO RIGHT-SIZE MY EXPERIENCE BELOW. THANK YOU LOUIE! Took out a rental on Friday, and returned it today. Made the reservation weeks beforehand and called the day of to re-confirm the pickup as well as price. Was told everything was in order and it would be ready for me. Arrived on time at the site and was told that there were no cars at the moment and I had to wait till one was returned and that it would be any moment (but tempered me that they did not know when exactly). I had to call my fellow passengers and inform them that I could not adhere to our schedule since Budget did not have a car ready for me. After about 20 minutes, car arrived, Fiat500 which was a pretty great car imo. Got the paper work, keys, got in the car and left. Once I left I noticed that the tank was not full but was down a few notches, in addition to that there was an abundance of garbage in the back seat (fastfood wrappers, soft drink cups, plastic bags with garbage). Since I was already running late, and my fellow passengers were also late I figured I would bring this to the attention of Budget staff when I returned the car. When Returning the car, I returned it as I recieved it with a few notches below full tank. I told the staff about being shorted on the gas as well as the garbage in the backseat of the car and was told that while he was sorry, theres nothing he could do, and that it was my fault for not checking the car before getting in. On top of that, he told me if i did not fill the gas back up to a full tank, that I would get charged $3.50 per litre that the car was empty. No remorse for the lack of service I recieved, no effort to right the wrongs, and imho not even a sincere apology - for not having a car ready, making me wait even after confirming, being shorted on the gas and having a bunch of garbage in the back seat. Instead a threat of being charged higher fees, if i did not fill up the gas. So i took the car out, put in the $4.00 worth of gas it needed to take it to a full tank and returned. The location is convenient, has a good selection of cars, and the staff are nice - they don't argue. they dont yell, they don't antagonize - which i can appreciate. But they also don't make an effort to right the wrong and are serverly lacking in the customer service area. Don't review much - but posting this as a word of caution to future customers.

Extremely rude and condescending manager - Avoid this location at all costs!! I thought I would try this location as opposed to my other regular location (Slater st.) since they were offering the online prepay discount. After booking online with the Costco membership discount I got the under 25 fee waived and was promised a free class upgrade at the counter. As soon as I arrived the manager immediately told me that I was underage (before even looking at my reservation) and then got angry when I told him the fee was supposed to be waived, he then proceeded to scrutinize my Costco membership to make sure I wasn't lying (I've never had this happen before). When I asked about the free car upgrade I was promised online, he rudely denied being able to do it (bullcrap) and told me that I should go to the location beside Costco on merivale next time because only they can do the free upgrades for memnbers (even more bullcrap). To top it all off the car didn't even have winter tires on it!! This made driving in -20C weather a little worrisome. I'm not sure if I was being profiled because of my age (I'm a young professional and a recent graduate) or if he's always rude to customers but I am NEVER coming back to this location again - believe me its not worth the prepay discount. I will take my business to the Slater St. location, infinitely better service, friendly and accommodating staff, and most importantly, cars equipped with winter tires!

This agency advertises deliberately deceptive pricing. Our bill was loaded with hidden and extra fees. We booked a car for 3 days in the middle of January and only found out that it would be an extra $20 per day to get a car with snow tires, of which the salesman said there were only 2 in the lot. How can you rent out cars without winter tires in Ottawa in the middle of a snowstorm? That's a potentially lethal scam. He tried to upsell us on insurance for another $15 per day and a few other things as well. The advertised price, everything included, on expedia was supposed to be about $250 for the 3 days. When all was said and done our bill was closer to $500. Extremely deceptive and shady business practices. Unfortunately, this is just standard practice in the car-rental business it seems.

I used to rent vehicle from enterprise but they always messed up with my reservation & always took longer to deliver my vehicle. Now I Always rent vehicle from budget this location because I always get great vehicle & service from here. If I book in advance I can make requests the type of vehicle I want and I always get better then I expect. So highly recommend. If you want to have a trouble free & better vehicle then it's a right place for you.

Aside from taking an hour to get into a car we had already reserved, we were forced to put 15 litres of gas into the car for a 25km round trip. Our only other option was to pay $3.75/L to have budget do it. The attendant claimed the tank was full prior to us having used the car, but that was clearly false. Take a picture if you don't want to have the same fate. If you are intent on losing your time and money, rent from this place.

Great service and good cars available. I highly recommend to book in advance since they run out of cars very quickly. Their parking lot is tiny for all the cars they offer so you might want them to free your car from the crowd before you hit the road. You might also want to rent the car you want (it is more about categories than a specific brand ) online, because they have some promotions sometimes only giblets online!

(2nd Review - July 2021) Adding 5 more stars to this place. Excellent customer service. I had booked a car but unfortunately I had to cancel due to weather conditions. They understood the problem and cancelled without any further questions or penalties. This is how loyal customers are made. Love this place. They always give me good deal. I have rented for weeks on multiple occasions. Well maintained cars. Awesome staff

Had a very good experience with this budget car rental. The guy who worked there (Adnan) was very polite and professional. When asked for upgrade to SUV they did it without a charge. I also like the fact that they are open Saturdays and Sundays. Very convenient. I just wished they had more cars available. Unfortunately, though not surprising, they are all sold out most of the times.

Wir haben einen Mittelklasse SUV reserviert. Wir bekamen einen Mitsubishi, der Wagen war zuverlässig und hat seinen Dienst getan.Ein Navi hatten wir auch bestellt, dieses wurde nicht berücksichtigt. Wir bekamen dann ein mobiles Navi,nicht so einfach in der Handhabung. Die Fahrzeugübergabe war schnell und problemlos.Wir würden dort wieder ein Auto mieten.

I recommend this Budget location. The guys that work there work hard and the cars are great. I have multiple car rentals from this location and have always had great service and a great car. The operator Mr. Alam is great and makes the car rental process painless. If you are looking for an Ottawa car rental company near the core then look no further.

to start if Car rented was a volkswagon Jetta little difficult to use to the features plus the seat was adjusted so this took time to get used to adjust to me overall comfortable car max air conditioning sunroof nice summer features my only thing with budget is a hold on my credit card took all week 5 days for hold to come off

I reserved a pickup truck. They had a pickup truck when I showed up. Unfortunately, they had registered it commercially, and tried to strong arm me into either buying their hideously expensive insurance or "upgrading" to a hideously expensive SUV at double the day rate.

Budget is usually the way to go but when it comes to cars this particular location seems to always have problems. either rented out or delayed or maybe its my luck...all i can review is my personal experience and i hope everyone else has a better one than i did.

Absolutely excellent customer service and the most accommodating in my experience. I always rent vehicles from here and was never disappointed so far. Got a great clean and affordable car every time even on very short notice. Definitely recommend this location.

I went here to get a car and was really surprised to learn that the prices are the same regardless of whether you rent on a weekday or weekend. The one good thing is that the price for a 5 day rental is the same as a 7 day rental.

The service here is what you would want. They are attentive and helpful. Prices are a little higher than the competition but you will generally get a better quality vehicle. Always quick and friendly!

Had a terrible experience trying to rent a car. Despite prepaying for the vehicle, decided not to rent the car. Manager provided customer DISservice.

They tell you it's $19.95/Day but don't forget the insurance and the $0.49/km it usually ends up being over $120 for an average move.
