I lost my car under unfortunate circumstances and needed a vehicle to continue medical treatment for a terminal illness. I rented with Budget from January 8th 2022 to February 8th 2022. The vehicle had not been cleaned since it’s prior rental. It was littered with trash, the steering wheel and other parts were coated with dry sticky stuff, and the car smelled unpleasant. I cleaned the vehicle. I couldn’t continue to drive an unsanitary vehicle during COVID while suffering from an autoimmune disorder. It was easier to clean it than to return it. The customer service was stale and unwelcoming. And on multiple occasions when I attempted to call the location to make changes to my rental, I could not reach anyone or was left on hold when I was transferred to a general line. Also the website could not locate my rental with the confirmation number I was given so I had to rely on the storefront representatives. On February 8th I needed to extend my rental. I was given another vehicle and I told that I could return it on February 22nd 2022. The second car was cleaner than the first but I still I called on February 22nd to extend it but was met with no answer. I tried on numerous occasions to reach an employee following February 22nd. I held the rental until March 8th 2022 (today) since I knew the contract allowed for the vehicle to be held for a month. The Budget employee Marc reported the car stolen or missing with no attempt to contact me. I was floored. The day that I extended my rental, my mother and I overheard Marc calling another renter who had made no attempt to return their vehicle or contact Budget to remind them again for the tenth time that the vehicle needed to be returned. I spoke to Marc about the lack of communication and the attempts I made to extended my contract but he was dismissive and refused to hear what I was saying.

I was okay, considering the circumstances, but not exactly thrilled. I had booked a rental through the Budget website via my auto insurance after I totalled my car. The implication upon completing the reservation process was that an appropriate vehicle would be available at the appointed time and selected location. Due to circumstances beyond the rental agent's control, this was not the case when I arrived. The agent did sign me out in one of the two vehicles available — a much-too-large Dodge Ram pickup, which he washed by hand as I waited. He then directed me to the company's location at the Austin Bergstrom airport (after a somewhat cursory explanation of the keyless ignition) to exchange the truck for the full-sized car I had originally reserved. Fortunately, I arrived at the airport in time to take the last full-sized sedan available in the Budget section of the parking garage, and after another inordinate amount of time futzing around with another keyless ignition system — all my cars have had keys, so I'm something of a Luddite with newer vehicles — I was able to get back home. My rating is more reflective of my feelings about the company as a whole, though the customer service I received from the agent I interacted with at the first location was certainly above par.

I gave them 4 stars because I've never had any issues with reservations, the quality of the vehicles or customer service... until today. I rent cars from here frequently and will continue, however. Over the weekend I made a 12 hour trip, there and back, to Oklahoma. On the way back about 3 hours left until we arrive back in Austin my 5 year old gets sick. We finally get home, unloaded and I start cleaning the mess out of the backseat but if course the next morning it still smells. I return the car, the woman at the front desk asks if there was an accident in the car, I told her what happened. Now from here is where I start to get frustrated with her attitude. She says the car will need to be sent to the detailer to be cleaned, there will be an extra fee and I will receive an email of my receipt. Ok, that's fine I understand completely. What I do not understand is why she was so annoyed and inconvenienced that there was an accident in the car. She did not say Thank You, Have a nice day, goodbye, nothing! Well she did say "Ok" after i confirmed my email address. Make a phone call, send the car to get detailed and go on with your day in a respectful manner, in no way was this an inconvenience to her whatsoever. Not pleased today with the customer service

My sister and I had reserved a Toyota Corolla (or similar car) for a 2 week rental. When we arrived, they had just returned a Mitsubishi Outlander. It was too big, but we didn't want to wait so we took it. Then it just stopped in the middle of the Costco parking lot. Some sweet gentlemen took pity on us and got it running. Next day, we returned it, got a compact, (too small) but it only went a half mile before we noticed that the low tire light was lit. Pulled into a repair shop- nail in tire!!! It had only 26 miles, so go figure. Returned to rental agent, got a Hyundai Elantra. If you are a midget or a contortionist, it is a great car. Otherwise it is torture. We tried to call many times, but were on permanent robo hell. No option but to traipse over. OH, and as we had pre-paid for a 2 week rental of a Toyota, AND returned the Elantra a day early, there was no refund !!!!! What kind of scam is this? OH, and she was visiting for just 2 weeks and we are both older senior citizens. Certainly bollixed our vacation

This location would get 5 stars for the personnel. Mike is awesome and saved me some money on my extension. They are friendly and very professional. They just never answer the phone. I understand the staffing issues everyone is having right now and I wouldn't normally care about speaking to someone locally. The problem comes in when trying to extend reservation. If you are transferred to 800 number, they will charge you more and tell you only extensions by store you picked up car at can give you same rate. You can see the problem. Part of the issue is corporate policy not to honor original rates. Change that and who could care if they answer the phone locally or not.

Do not rent from here. As a person who regularly rents cars for business, this is bot the company to go through. I was yelled at,then hung up on, for simply trying to switch out cars. I wanted to up grade and was willing to pay the difference. After calling customer service over 6 times I was given the upgrade. Upon returning the vehicle, the owner tried to resolve the issue in front of all of his customers when all I wanted to do was drop off the vehicle and leave. Honestly, you pay a little more for enterprise but it's worth it. I will never use budget again... especially the Round Rock location.

We reserved a truck for pick up at 9am. When we came at 9:15, the staff at Pep boys told us that the Budget employees have not come into work. When we called and told them we made a reservation a month ago, they said they didn’t see our reservation and maybe we moved it. We told them we didn’t move our reservation nor did we get an email about changing our reservation. We had to wait another full hour for a Budget employee to come and give us the keys to a truck.

Counter staff could barely contain their disdain for having to help you. Obviously unhappy about working there. Was overcharged for a late return. Could have returned vehicle at airport 24/7 but was not informed at time of rental nor is that info online. Made a big deal about giving me an upgrade because they did not have the vehicle I reserved... apparently I am supposed to be grateful to NOT get what I reserved. Right. Well hidden in a busy strip mall.

From inception, doing business with budget was a nightmare. I waited 3 hours to pick up a vehicle from one location, but no one turned up.. After 6 calls to customer service that was very rude , I proceeded to another location for pickup. Only car available was not the category I had requested. Dropping of the vehicle was another nightmare. I will avoid budget rentals like a plaque.

I will not rent from any other Budget (or any other rental car service) by choice. The staff here always goes above and beyond to make sure I get the best vehicle for my needs. They are always pleasant to deal with and genuinely take the time to provide excellent customer service. As far as rental car services go . . . it's a great value for your buck.

Is that this location are awesome. The vehicle worked fine. However, the systems that budget used for booking, making charges and modifying my reservation were absolutely awful. Very frustrating experience due to the systems. Fortunately they have very friendly people on the front end to try to deal with a more systemic failure.

Ease of use, if you've rented a car before, its just like everyone else except a bit faster. I paid a few dollars more for the car model a step or 2 above the lowest model and I have to say, totally worth it. Its a small location, but busy. Probably the best in the area, and definitely better than the weirdos at the airport.

Will never rent a car from budget again. I prepaid for rental for 2 days and returned one day early because I know longer needed. I was than advised to contact corporate for refund, there response was because it was prepaid no refund…… At this point it’s too late to even have use of that car for the day! Very dissatisfied!!!

Highly recommend this location. The owner stayed open late on a Saturday afternoon when I had trouble getting there before closing time. Pam’s assistance in this situation was above customer service, it was just plain nice. I will do my best to always do business at this Budget location and support this owner. Thank you!!

We rent from this particular budget at least a couple of times a year, and I am consistently thrilled with the quality and level of service they provide!

Not a good experience. When reserving a vehicle on line you prepay. And when picking up vehicle the lady ask for my credit card and charge again plus the deposit, so it was a huge amount taken from our account. No No!!! More will we rent from Budget. We didn’t even get the car we requested either. Very disappointing.

This is my car rental place from now on extremely helpful and friendly staff. I did have an issue with the phone system the day after New Years but it is a computer system and had gone down during the holiday. They didn’t have the car I had reserved and gave me a better one at the same cost.

Yep this place is a scam. The dude lied to me at the counter and said he'd waive my the extension fees. I was a few minutes late and they billed me the late fee. I went through one toll and they billed me $21.00
